Wow. Great progress @RubyRed427 ! Congrats on taking the leap to try something new that works for you.4

@RubyRed427 Congrats to you too! You’re making great progress. I’m glad keto is working for you!!!
My H and I tried keto for a week and we both lost several pounds quickly but it just didn’t work well on our digestive tracts. So we’re back to “most” things in healthy portion sizes.
We always do dry January, but have continued into February and I’m quite content to not add calories by alcohol. I’m realizing there are foods that I should declare “special occasion only”. Alcohol may fall onto that list, but for sure processed carb foods. I’m really trying to make my changes life-long. And I know if I regularly allow myself to sample crackers and cookies I’ll undo all the progress I’ve made .. they are my “drug of choice”.
I also think food tracking may need to be a life-long thing. It keeps me honest!5 -

It's disappointing to see little change over four weeks time, but my BIA scale indicates I am losing fat mass and gaining lean mass, so I am not too disappointed.
I now have a pool to swim in!
(it's a 40 mile drive, so I can't swim every day , but maybe twice a week).9 -
@frankwbrown There will be weeks that seem we take a step backward. But look at the trend of your numbers. You’re doing great. 👍4

Not great. There were ups and downs in my weight and life the last few weeks. If I'm 150-155 by the end of March, I'll be satisfied with that.
I am loving all the snack ideas, especially what to do with eggs. Love them!8 -
“Don’t try to be perfect. Just try to be better than yesterday.”
Sometimes our goals can be quite grand, and sometimes unrealistic. If we simply “try to be better than yesterday” each and every day, we’ll see progress.
Don’t give up. “Just try to be better than yesterday.”
And be kind to yourself.
Be well everyone.7 -
I'm 37 years old, married, we have a 2 year old. My goal for this challenge is to lose 15-20 lbs. 2020 starting weight was 225. My ultimate goal weight is 135-140 I'll plan for Saturday weigh ins.
Good luck to everyone on reaching your goals.

@IronwomanUno That made me laugh again!! Oh , Can you imagine actually doing that!!
Lately I am doing visualization; picturing myself this summer, prancing around in shorts with thin legs, flat stomach and tank top. Keto going well enough. I think I am over the carbs limits this weekend, because the carb intake is 18g only per day. I have gotten about 24 grams in carbs each day. So, it's still quite low.
I avoided lots of treats, cupcakes, snack bags of chips, etc. I am scrapbooking at a hotel this weekend. (Yes we are six feet apart.) And usually I eat tons of snacks during the weekend.7 -

That's awesome! You are doing great! I'm really trying to focus on inches and not numbers...it's so hard though and I don't want to set a goal date because I know I will be crushed if I don't make it! It appears for me that this weight loss journey is going to be slow and I have to be okay with it! So celebrate your loss...you're doing amazing!5 -

Nice to see everyone's progress and updates. I had the "binges" twice this week again, and did not walk everyday like I had been. Need to ramp up the exercise this week. It was -20 C yesterday morning here in Ontario, and my face is taking a beating from walking outside. BUT I bought a hood/balaclava like 'thingy' to wear....I'm past the point of caring if I look like a dork!!
Have a great week everyone.6 -

@Up_n_Running I admire your approach! One step at a time, you are making such significant lifestyle changes, you are doing it at your own pace and you are very reflective throughout the process. I love reading about your thought process along the way. Way to go!7

my background:
i was overwight for most of my life, but i hit obese bmi last june 2020, post lockdown at 90+kg. i felt really bad, so i did something about it. i educated myself as best as i can and got to work.
i found mfp last september and it was the best thing ever. it was more than a calorie counter, it was a community of like-minded people who understand.
by october, i was around 80kg, still a lot to go. i just kept at it and worked the long game. 1-hour home workouts everyday and meal prep every weekend.
just this january 2021, i got below 65kg, and now just maintaining below this weight. the long game was worth it. this is the best that i felt in years, physically and emotionally.
to anyone who reads this: you got this. the long game is worth it. keep evolving
