Ladies I’m just starting my heavy lifting journey, under the eye of a trainer I can squat 40-50kg, deadlift up to 60kg, row 25. Is this heavy enough? Do I just lift 2-3 times per week and stick to my calories?1

You do what is heavy for you, challenging to your body and strength. As long as there is progressive overload (more reps, more weight, higher intensity, etc) over time, you will get stronger and build some lean mass....if you are still cutting (in a caloric deficit) make sure your protein macro is around 1 g per lb bodyweight....I lifted all through my fat loss. If energy becomes a problem, time higher carb meals around training time....

Up to 10 months of lifting, now lifting at intermediate or advanced weights for my size.... Will someone please tell me when this "bulkiness" is going to hit me?
In all seriousness, I actually did add inches with the lifting, to my butt and my thighs. That is only because I was also eating at a surplus and started lifting when I was technically underweight. My husband, who was worried about me getting bulky from the lifting, can't seem to keep his hands off my brand new "bulk".
Wow, amazing progress. So inspiring..7 -

This thread has always been a HUGE inspiration to me and I have always wanted to be able to post here. I have started heavy lifting before, but this is the first time I've stuck with it long enough to see significant results. I know my results aren't nearly as dramatic as some, but I'm very happy so far! I am 5'1" and started counting calories, lifting, and walking on 1/1/21. I am following Stronglifts 5x5 and using a home gym that my husband and I built. My starting weight was 213.6 and my current weight is 187. I would like to get down to 130 and then I'll reevaluate, but I'd much rather be strong and healthy than skinny! Here are some progress photos so far:

Hello all!
I started lifting back in 2012, switch to CrossFit in 2015 and then in 2017 just stopped. I’m back to good ol lifting after a hiatus! No more CrossFit here tho.
Feel free to add me!2 -

Was there something about Crossfit that disagreed with you, are caused injury, etc.???1 -
LOL I'm already bulky from fat, at least if one really DID get bulky from lifting it would be muscle instead! Nice job dude, you look awesome!2

Yes, I messed up my shoulder. CrossFit works for some and works against others. It was very rough in my joints so I stay away from it.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you don’t need a new app. There’s a free GIF maker included in the “shortcuts” app the phone and iPad come preloaded with. The quality is grainy, but I’m not spending $50 bucks on a better one, lol.3 -
YEEESSSSSS!!!! That's what I'm talking about!!!! Doin it!!!! ❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽2

Welp! After browsing through this thread (I admit I did not read every post on all 132 pages of it, but I went through quite a bit!) I requested The New Rules of Lifting for Women from the library and will try it out! I was leaning toward learning how to lift, but also putting it off until I lost another 10-20 pounds. But if I can start now...well, why not?10
