Way to get out there and get it done, even when you aren't feeling it @kgirlhart . Seems a lot of us missed Global Running Day.2

Well, they shouldn't have Global Running Day on a scheduled rest day!!!4 -
6-1 7k tempo
6-2 rest
6-3 rest
June Total: 7k
June Goal: 150k
Scheduled golf day makes for a scheduled rest day. It's upper 60s F and very humid anyway, so I'd have been tempted to treadmill it.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs (second attempt)

My my, you guys have some amazing goals!! I'm a newbie so I'm shooting for 30 walking miles this month. I had to stop jogging when shinsplints, knee pain, hip pain, and super long recovery times took over. No biggie though, I'm still awesome. Let attack this month!!11

7 miles this morning. Kept it easy today, trying to find my rhythm. Felt like I was in a groove around mile 4 and it felt really comfortable for the last 3 miles.

Last July we did North Kaibab down like 3 miles? Then in October we did South Kaibab down about 3 miles. Coming out is a *kitten*.
We start out on the North Rim on the North Kaibab trail and then transition over to the Bright Angel trail. We have side trips to Ribbon Falls and also to Plateau Point for the sunset one evening. I must admit that I'm worried about melting into a giant puddle in the heat!4 -
Welcome to all the new folks, and congrats to all for challenging themselves again in June!
6/1 - 3.36 miles, easy effort (45 mins Z2)
6/2 - 3.23 miles, tempo run (25 mins Z4 w/7.5 min warm-up/cool-down)
6/3 - 3.32 miles, easy effort (45 mins Z2)
Total: 9.91 miles
Goal: 105 miles
Temps are getting warmer but I didn't really notice it until after today's run. Mucho sweat! Was a beautiful sunny morning run though.7 -

Welcome!!
I'm all for attacking the month. Just hoping it doesn't strike back!!!4 -
Welcome @runsrunsruns @pabmac @juliexx00 @Ninaeveryday
Good to see you @mari33a
@teresa502 I can’t wait to see GC pics. That trip sounds so cool! Also, I was born in Longview! The humidity can definitely be high up there but not as bad as Houston. So silver lining is at least you aren’t in the gulf coast area!
@ContraryMaryMary I change routes up all the time. Like you said, one of the benefits of running in suburbia is options. At this point I know the distances on so many segments in my neighborhood that if I just don’t feel like going a certain way, or there is water over the sidewalk, or school traffic, etc I just change it and start doing math while running. It usually works out but always takes me way longer to add while running!
@avidkeo That is such a runner thing to do to pause your watch as you are actively having cardiac arrest!
7 -
6-1 7k tempo
6-2 rest
6-3 rest
6-3 (EDIT) 7k temo
June Total: 14k
June Goal: 150k
So golf went well; was easy because it's a hilly course and I ride in a cart; and a light rain coupled with guilt for missing Running Day got me out for a nice little jaunt.
@Alphahowls Your wolf is faster than I am... Nice stride, too!!!

I'm not setting a goal this month. I may not even run much for the rest of the month. My right knee pain is getting worse and I'm about ready to break down and go to the dr. I have questioned if I have a meniscal tear for a few years but it's always been mild enough pain that it wasn't worth it for me to take the time to see anyone. But, it's getting worse and just at the time where the weather is heating up and the humidity is spiking with all the rain. It is hard to want to run in crappy weather with the nagging pain. If I do run, I'm going to keep it short and switch to a walk if my knee is talking to me. And no bouldering since the falls are rough. Only sport climbing for a bit.
My family is leaving for a multiple state/national park hiking trip in a little over a week. We are visiting Badlands, Custer State Park, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons along with some smaller parks and sites throughout the area over the course of 2.5 weeks. Tons of hiking is happening and I am so looking forward to the beautiful scenery. So, I am going to prioritize walking over the next 10 days or so to give my knee as much rest as I can and see how it does over this trip.12 -
Ran this morning, trying out some alternate routes to the forest. Very pretty day. Got home and hubby was loading up the bikes for a family ride. We tried out a local rail trail. It was very nice, but being a holiday today, was way too packed with people who were enjoying the trail, but not really being aware of their surroundings... so the plan is to go back when there are fewer people around. It looks like a great trail!
Just one scenery pic from the run7 -
01/06 2.68 miles
02/06 2.36 miles
03/06 2.73 miles
Total 7.77 of 30 miles
Sported my new kicks this evening.9 -
Garmin coach timed 10k programme with Amy.
I think it's totally messed up! Today I had another 6.66km run, which was 0.12min/km faster than last weeks. Nice! When I finished this run I had a time trial on the schedule for next week, some intervals and some tempo run. Odd stuff. When I was home this was all gone and the same slow runs as this week were back. Hmmm..8 -

Kind of a slow start to the month but I'm sort of tapering before this Saturday's HM. Ran on the treadmill before strength training. It had just started to rain or I would have run outside instead. All upper body in strength training to save the legs, so now my triceps are complaining. I also got a massage this afternoon which was wonderful. I've only been to this person once before just after I hurt my back but I think she does a great job. Not as deep as some but I didn't want to go too intense today. Next time though I'll definitely have her work some deep tissue.
I'm wonderfully relaxed now and I'm heading out for a drink on an outdoor patio so I can't complain about today!

Thanks to mom’s friend who slept over, we got out early morning for a “long run” or as long as time allowed which turned out to be 5 miles and change, which is an improvement over previous days. I was thinking by now we would be heartily sick of not having time to get to anyplace other than WC Johnson/Cox park but honestly, it was a great run - saw 4 adult deer and a tiny fawn, 4 bunnies, and 3 different varieties of heron, night heron, Great Blue, and least bittern. The bittern was trying to fish at the lake we run around and we kept disturbing him as we ran past so he would take flight to another location, and then we would catch up to him. According to the Cornell bird site they are supposed to be very shy birds, so I’m sure we got on his very last nerve!
It was humid, so humid. I couldn’t wear my sunglasses, they fogged instantly. But considering it was supposed to be thunderstorms we got off easy.
RL belowMy mom is driving me berserk but her friend is helping convince her that having me and my husband as full time servants isn’t going to work as a permanent solution. Friend is an RN with a geriatric speciality and has almost convinced her to try out “respite care” for 30 days, and has advised us that we probably need to start planning to get power of attorney activated, since she is clearly not going to be able to live by herself and is in denial about it.12
