I have read all but I'm getting into busy period and it's harder to take the time to respond abundantly.
I tracked and kept on track almost all days in past 3 weeks or so exept the day before yesterday, and yesterday evening. But weight hasn't budged yet! I had a work thing at home and we ended up eating together here. The colleague-friend had brought onions and potatoes ( ) in case we eat together and I made an omelet and he - some kind of potato stew - when guys cook they are often way heavy on the oil!
well- no dessert and I didn't have wine. could we be worse. have to run today. long meeting shortly, live, outside of home.3 -
Woke up early thinking about my son's visit, but I slept well.
I do yoga every day, except on a running day. All those stretches Machka kindly pictured and more, apart from the legs on the wall. At my age (nearly 72) I think it gets more and more important to do everything we can to stop ourselves seizing up! I also do strength exercises, like press ups from the knees (hate them), one leg bridges, clamshells, side leg raises! (I have a vulnerable knee) and one leg dips. Then I do dumbbell weights. I feel better than I did at 48. Very few mobility problems.
I used to be obese, weak, very stiff and with a weak knee and leg and a weak ankle on the other leg. Huge mobility problems which were affecting my life. This was at 60. Even getting in a car was hard.
I started small, joined a Pilates, then a yoga group, started exercising on machines slowly, joined mfp, joined this thread 9 years ago, and slowly built up my fitness. My husband encouraged me all the way. Then I started running.
Now I love to exercise. I used to despise it. It takes up a large part of my day, but it is so worth it for the benefits in feeling good. Mentally and physically.
I know a lot of us have exercise as part of our lives. Dancing, horse riding, walking, cycling, yoga, tai chi, tennis, etc etc etc. Wonderful! For those who are hesitant, I would just say start small, with whatever you can manage, and slowly build up. I used to think I would explode if I tried to do more than 200 burn a day. Now a normal day is 900, but it took me years to get there!
I had no idea,when I was unfit, how good feeling fit feels, at any age. When the painter was painting the stairs I had to walk up two long, steep flights of stairs, carrying tea and snacks, over bumpy, uneven groundsheets, without touching the wet sides or rails. I was very glad of my exercise regime as it was no problem.
If anyone had told me, eleven years ago, that I would be fitter and slimmer at 71, I would not have believed them! I thought I was was stuck with it. But ....... the first step is the hardest. Build a habit, build it slowly, make it a part of your life. A little bit regularly is better than a sprint then bust.

Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, T’ai Chi, BiMart, call pc guy to schedule tuneup, USE those torture bands/do that BB&B video, call S, fire district: research NFPA, grant NIMS requirements, ongoing: input 2019 call sheets into NFIRS, work with chief on equipment letter, substance abuse policy, NFIRS mutual aid and other missing details, likewise Lee skills/tasks, ask for boots donator contact info, appreciation letter or certificate to boots donator, index mutual aid files; watch STAS Day 20, declutter sideboard, learn new dances (Tequila Little Time, Homesick, Nothing but You, A Little Less Broken, Blame it on my beating heart,; Do Your Thing, practice dances: One Margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Pure Movies to Wine, Beer, Whiskey, I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat),); finish mulching flowerbed, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant the last of the naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove, ask Te about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???, Reward: inventory seeds, plan this fall’s garden, wishlist replenishments (Milena F1 orange peppers and beit alpha cukes next year).

I survived the visit to the dentist. It is stressful in so many ways starting with having to drive for thirty minutes to get there and find a parking place in a crowded neighborhood. I rarely go anywhere and when I do, it's to a place with a roomy parking lot. Then, after all this time of being distanced, spending an hour with someone close and with her hands in my mouth is overwhelming. It was a small thing compared to what others are experiencing but I came home feeling overwhelmed and in need of an afternoon nap and relaxation.

Bravo Barbie! Courage is feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
The painter has finished! Fabulous job and ridiculously cheap. Nicest man ever. I have provisionally booked him for next August to finish the landing and top stairs. DH said he might ask him earlier and pay for it if he can fit us in in the winter. I think DH must have taken our recent argument to heart as he offered to pay for the whole thing! I insisted on paying the third I promised for this time.
He always seems to need a bit of time for things to sink in. He is a good man.
We moved the furniture back and put a different painting up. It all looks so lovely we don't want to cover the walls with pictures.
Then I watered the geraniums, and swept the front porch and the garden path! It's amazing what a visitor will do for you.
Now just to get the curry started before I set off.

Hi All. We just returned from 18 days of vacation, most of which was completely offline. That part was nice. The few pounds gained was not nice.
However, because my knee didn't heel, I need to try something else to get it working again. So, I am in the market for an indoor exercise bike. For those who have them, any recommendations?

I use a real bicycle on a trainer. Our next move will likely be getting smart trainers ... eventually.
But if I were going for something that is not a real bicycle, I'd get a spin bike. Not a stationary bike but one that "rides" like a fixed gear. A proper spin bike.

Barbie – I am delighted that you survived your visit to the dentist. I hope your next visit is less stressful. Last year our neighbor recommended a dentist that is within walking distance of our house. We drive there in bad weather but walk if it is nice. We are very happy with her work.
Heather – Your entryway is lovely. I particularly like the stained-glass in your front door and side lights. The stained-glass hanging light is also delightful.
Tina – We have two terra-trykes in the garage on trainers. (No car enters our garage because it is full.) The front wheels are locked and the back wheel does the work of exercise. The gym where I go has stationary bikes that track calories. I like to ride for about a half an hour.
Rebecca – I hope your DH is doing well. How long does it take to get there from Whidbey Island? :flowerforyou:

I would get a trainer for my bike, but the bike is big and heavy and I want something quieter that is easy to move around. Someday, I'm hoping to make a little "gym" area in the house, but it likely won't be soon.

We left at 4:15 am then before we got off the island, our check tires light went off. So it was looking for gas stations with air. On our second one we scored. It was only 49' so the wheels just needed more air. We arrived UW of Medicine hospital at about 6:15 am. Only had to wait for 15 minutes until we could start all the testing. Done by 8 am and now we wait, until 12 to have lunch, then main appointment is at 2 pm. Lee's in the car sleeping and will come fetch me at 12 noon. I'm in a comfy chair, never can sleep in our car. I end up just watching him sleep!
Long day! Husband is doing great though.
