I wrote last week about how I'd made it to 209.6 and I was super excited. We had dinner out as expected for my husband's birthday (I tracked and logged everything, didn't do too bad) but I am up 3lbs! Monday and Tuesday I was 211.6 and 211.8 and this morning I was 212.6! Since that birthday dinner I went back to my normal eating and exercising. We walked our normal 4.5ish miles on Monday and I ended up with a blister on my right foot which in turn made me walk differently than I normally do which has made both my calf muscles extremely sore. So I'm thinking some of the 3lbs is sore muscles, some is left over from birthday dinner and some is cause I'm getting to that TOTM (boo!).
I'm super frustrated but I know of I stick with it, it should (hopefully) work out, but man, I was so happy to be seeing 209 on the scale!5 -
Has this week been hot hecking garbage so far for anyone else? Must be the full moon or something, IDK. The vibes are just all wrong this week. I'm hoping this Wednesday, hump day, moon at its fullest will represent a turning point, the nadir of the bad vibes, and we'll see an uptick going into the weekend - I want good news at hubs' consult on Friday, good news on the scale Saturday morning, good vibes all around. Or else, damn it.
Saturday is the LoseIt challenge "ultrawalkathon," where the goal is to rack up as many steps as possible within 24 hours; anything under 25k is "just for fun" that day. 25k steps, with my stride length and typical pace, comes out to about 10 miles/3 and a half hours of walking. The top-tier goal is 100k, which I absolutely don't think I could do in a single day if I tried, not right now. I'm gonna do my best, in any case. I don't think I could do more than 25k, but maybe I'll surprise myself. I'm trying to figure out what I can do and where I can go; I don't need to chain myself to the stove this weekend, so being out and about walking all day Saturday is probably fine. I don't want to, like, march in place in my house or set up camp on a treadmill at the gym all day long, that's about the most boring Saturday I can imagine. I might just go do laps around the mall or somewhere indoors like that, so as to be inside and out of the sun during the heat of the day. I love walking outdoors, but I feel like I would have a very bad time if I just planned to wander around natural areas all day long. Maybe I'll figure out a place to walk to for breakfast, then just call my husband when I get there and have him meet me there, LMAO. I plotaroute'd the path from home to where Hubs is playing another gig Saturday night, since the place is decently close to home. It should take a bit under an hour and a half to walk there, if I wanted to do that; there's a sidewalk and it's decently well-lit the whole way, so I could end my day with that little ~4-5 miler, have some dinner and catch the last set (which is apparently when they play all my favorite songs on their set list, to hear him tell it), and hitch a ride home with him after.4 -

Well, scale is messing with me today, lol. But I know I kept under on my calories. Plus I had a very late meal yesterday & did some strenth training that I can definitely feel today so pretty sure it is food in transit and water retention. Should hopefully see a drop in the next day or two. Of course TOM is in about a week so that could also be it.
I had a long, stressful week with work but managed to stay away from the evening wine which would normally be my go to when I am feeling overwhelmed, so small NSV there. But my big NSV was actually meeting my fiber goal for 4 days this week!!! Prior to this week, I had only met it 2 times since I started MFP in mid-July! Big thanks to @wanderinglight for the psyllium recommendation- it helped immensely in meeting that goal. I tried taking it with water and it almost came back up, lol, but found if I mix it in a smoothie I barely even notice it :-)
Saw my oldest daughter and ex MIL this weekend for the first time since July. Both commented on how much weight I have lost, which was really nice to hear. May not be sizing down in clothes yet, but it is nice to know my hard work is being noticed :-) Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend, and has a great week ahead!
I'm so glad the psyllium is working for you too! Yes, they do say that if you have a predisposition to hurl to make sure you only try a little bit at first since throwing up the gel would be very bad indeed. I didn't have any problem with it - I add about a quarter cup of green juice or smoothie to it and don't let it sit before I drink it. It's amazing stuff!
Congrats on people noticing your hard work! I can't wait until that first person notices mine. I've only lost 12lbs so I'm not there yet3 -
Well, it's not Saturday yet, but it is day 100 of my log streak. Been working on my caloric intake and exercise for 100 days now, and I've lost 23.4 pounds. 1.6 more pounds, and I will officially be 1/3 of the way to my weight loss goal. Wedding I attended went well. A couple of people asked "what was different," and a family friend even pointed out that my face was slimmer than the last time she saw me. Apparently, a couple of days later, my uncle had called my mom to talk and mentioned he noticed I had lost some weight. I didn't realize people would be able to see such a difference at only 20-ish pounds. Thought it would take at least 35 pounds before folks noticed, unprompted.6
-
@wanderinglight Unfortunately, our height (5'10/5'11) works against our favor when it comes to noticeable weight loss. Lol. And people who see you on a day-to-day basis won't notice a gradual changed. I'm guessing once you hit 15-20 pounds, if you run into someone who hasn't seen you for 3 or 4 months, they'll definitely notice.3

Howdy. I have been really struggling lately, and have come here seeking support and community! It was Day 1 in a row of logging. It helped me to make better choices. I don’t want to log, but of course my habits are what got me here to begin with. Time to burn the ships!

We’ve all been there. Take each day as it comes and strive for progress, not perfection. That perfection mindset will derail you every time.

I’m slowing down (intentionally) to a more sustainable loss. Adding more calories is still stressing me out.
I walked my dogs yesterday for a long walk (about 4 miles). The first 3.7 was great. They were well behaved, and we were moving right along. Then we came across a house with a loose dog who decided to come to the road to check them out. My dogs lunges for him and took me down to the ground (not gracefully, either). I have a Saint Bernard and an Aussie. Combined, it’s almost 180lbs of dogs. My whole right side is battered and scraped up. I was so embarrassed. I limped the last 0.3 miles home in tears. There will likely be no exercise today. My right knee is pretty swollen and scraped up. Today is another day.11 -
@Deanner03 Oh no! That's a LOT of dog to be managing, especially around a loose dog. I have a 40ish pound foxhound and she is a LOT for me to handle when she gets excited and wants to investigate something (usually another dog or some food on the ground). I can't imagine doing it with 180 pounds of dog!!
Hopefully you can rest up and recover a bit today.4 -

I am frustrated to see the scale move up this week but I know I have been on plan with food and exercise so I am going to try not to worry about it. The scale moves in mysterious ways and I know that if I just stay focused it will eventually move in the right direction.
This morning I left the house for my morning walk to find that it was sprinkling outside. I decided to push through the rain and managed to get in a 5.2 mile walk/jog at my fastest average pace ever (I stayed under a 17 min average mile)! When I first started walking the dog I could barely make it around the block without being in pain and huffing and puffing. Now my only limiting factor is time. I walk before work so on work from home days I can get in about 90 minutes and on in-office days I can get in about 45 minutes.
Yesterday at work I was "boo'ed" which involves a coworker leaving a bag of Halloween goodies on your desk. My coworker was nice enough to include a bag of caramel popcorn, Halloween coasters and some candy corn. I managed to avoid opening the popcorn and only ate two pieces of candy corn before tossing the rest. NSV! In the past I would have eaten it all!10 -

I've been packing to move, so that's contributed to my weight loss stall. Carrying tons of heavy boxes, which I hope has built muscle, and burning tons of calories, which should have created a large fat loss. But I've also been eating a bit more, trying not to get sick during a stressful time, and not able to eat my usual diet plan. I suspect some of this is water weight due to muscle soreness. And I haven't moved house yet, so the disruption will continue. I'm just glad I'm still losing during this time and not gaining. I may not meet my october goal, even if my body settles down, but I'm 2/3s of the way to my weight goal, so I'm still pretty happy.6 -
In my opinion you're doing AMAZING, @patriciafoley1 Moving was a big part of what completely derailed me last time, and I undid 67 pounds of my up-to-then 75 pounds of weight loss. So I am cheering you on!5

@Deanner03
I'm betting it was more your Aussie than the St. Bernard. My son has an Aussie Border Collie mix and she's a bit crazy and high strung about somethings, but we love her. Very intelligent. I used to call her a ADHD dog. She would go bonkers over reflections of light outside or a laser pointer like a cat. Luckily she could care less about other dogs. Now if they come at her, she can put them on their back. But walking along if they bark at her she just looks at them. She gives a look like, "What are you barking at?" And she just keeps walking on by.
Hope you recover soon!4 -

Weekly goals:
-Continue logging on MFP
-Work out 5x per week – 3 cardio & 2 strength
-64 oz of water each day
-Take some moments during the week to declutter
-Follow Paleo plans as best as possible; 1-2 meals off as necessary for socializing per week or as symptoms allow
-Anniversary goodies only on the day (10/20, 4 years)
-Pick Halloween goodies that I don't care for and limit purchase for the smaller amount seen
Scale is going down. I may not hit the goal for the month but I'll be close. Just keeping on. TOTM finally came. Went something like 110 days. I'm sure that helped.
I going to keep the raised calories until I start to see some slowing. I happen to have more inclined calorie cycling this way it seems so that might be good as well. Allowing some treats daily. At the moment at Mom's house I have no inclination to binge so doing just fine that way. Following more paleo I'm seeing I'm having more fat ratio so that seems to help overall.
No idea when I'm leaving mom's house. I think we're waiting for the pain to go away and it's just not. We're trying different things.
Anniversary was very nice. Ended up having half my dinner and allowed more dessert there. Leftovers yesterday. With the amount of calories for the dinner I was surprised how small it was. My husband bought me a coat and was a bit disappointed it was on the small side. He acknowledged he knows I'm losing weight but wanted to fit better now. It was sized very small despite being a 2X. The only 3x they had was in a dark red when I'm not a red coat type of person. The girl at the boutique had warned him the coat ran small so he was hesitant. It's a style I've always wanted and it did fit just not as loose as desired but it'll get there. First clothes he's bought me so he did well actually.7 -

Already hit my end of month goal weight which is pretty exciting. I’m so close to my first major goal which is to see onederland on the scale. I’ve been pretty diligent about staying under my calorie goal and working out regularly. I just started Slimfast shakes to break my fast and they have extra protein which is a plus. My husband has been having some stomach issues after eating ground beef so we think fatty meats are hard on his stomach. I’m going to have to do a complete overhaul on our diet and stick to lean meats which will be good for my weight loss.
Seeing the scale go down is motivating when it’s starts to feel hard. Would love to lose another 20 pounds by the new year!🍾🎆5 -

My non-scale goals:
🎃 walk 2 miles every single day
🎃 concentrate on food as nutrition or as medicine
🎃 be patient and remember that increments are where it is at - every little bit really does count
🎃 remember where I came from and how far I have come. I have never been closer to goal weight, and never tried this successfully for this long
🎃lost total of 89.6 lbs and only 57.4 lbs to go till goal weight 130 lbs!
@Deanner03 I had two huge monster dogs when I started in 2013 that were 180 lbs between the two of them. Phew! That is work! I hope you feel better soon. (((hugs)))
Welcome @MeowScout! I remember hating it in the beginning too. It is a habit now, a tool that I have successfully used to be accountable and lose weight. I don't think I could do this without it. I now think of it as all math all the time, and a little mini game of nutrition sudoku! Making a game out of it can help with the sting of the new habit. Sometimes, I think of it as I am burning calories that are on backlog - like filing. Or like decluttering, I am cleaning this thing out, and while I am doing it it's difficult, but I am so grateful I am doing it!
Well done all!! Love the NSV's and goals all!! Keep it up ladies, we are almost at the October goal line of zombies and labyrinths!! We can do this one choice at a time!! I believe in you!!
Keep making good choices every time!! (((((hugs)))))

Also, NSV my wedding dress from Jan 6, 1995 fits! Also, I thought I was a size 14 not so. I was a size 18 so yeah - I am definitely size 16-18 right now I think. I bought xl underwear that I am glad I got only one pack because they are a little big. So I guess I won't be wearing them for long? Not sure, at first I lost what felt like a lot of weight quite fast in comparison to when I hit onederland, and now it feels a little slower. If I didn't care about nutrition I could lose faster - but that is not the decision I am making.
I want nutrition and support of my body during this weight loss, and I want to eat like a healthy person instead of an ignorant teenager. I ate like one of those for way too long!! Another NSV losing weight seems to have soothed the majority of my hives! I can't eat cheese (boo!) - I am pretty sure whey gives me instant hives just because cheese was my favorite food! I tried to eat cottage cheese for breakfast on Monday and broke out for 3 days. But even so, the hives were not as severe as they used to be. So even that is progress.
I have heard that some ladies when they lost all the weight had some measure of relief from the fibroids as well! Yet another reason to do this. I could use some relief in that area - my womb is trying to kill me ya'll!
The Dr. gave me a different thyroid medicine, and it has helped the mind fog significantly! Not enough to say I am out of the woods entirely, but I am doing better. Before all this I had a mercury filling break and I swallowed it (of course) and then when I got to the dentist he had to take out some other ones to stabilize it and so I took out all of them. So I am thinking maybe if I detox the mercury I can maybe get my thyroid stabilized and my mind will possibly work better. Maybe, could be, who knows. But at least I am not walking around the house wondering what I am supposed to be doing all day long - that was rough!! I was really thinking I would be dead in a year or less with that kind of brain impairment!
Here is wishing all of you and your families good health!2 -
Good updates! You love to see it. Here's hoping I'll have one of my own to share tomorrow.
I have a small, weird NSV - my wedding rings don't fit anymore. I did it backwards, lost 45lbs AFTER the wedding, so the bridal set I got on Etsy has been getting progressively looser over the past year, and this week it's gotten to the point where the rings simply don't fit even with the little plastic sizers - the ring itself is just too wide, it's uncomfortable. I have an assortment of smaller rings I can wear as placeholders in the meantime; when I reach goal (whether that's the 144 I'm aiming for, or if I get there and decide to keep going), I'll see what my options are for getting rings that fit. My understanding is, with the type of setting my rings have as well as the material they're made of (sterling silver), there's a limit to how much or how many times it can be resized - if it's resizable at all it'll probably just be one time, so I'm going to wait until my hand size is more stable before looking into that. Hopefully the Etsy store will still be there when the time comes, and I can just buy the same style in a smaller size. I'm also interested in a silicone ring to wear at the gym and such; my husband got one from Enso to wear while he's in clinic, and he's very pleased with it so far. He's a little worried about it coming off with gloves when he changes out PPE, but even if that does happen, they're not horrifically expensive to replace, at least.
Speaking of hubs - he had the consult with the neurosurgeon today. They want to do another MRI of his full spine and brain, just to make sure there are no other uninvited guests (a possibility that hadn't occurred to me until he mentioned it, so, I have that to worry about now), and then they need to schedule the surgery after that. Hubs says he should be able to get in next week for that MRI, so hopefully they can get him in for surgery very soon after that. I'm so glad we live in the future, where you can get medical imaging results pretty much immediately rather than needing to wait for a lab to process them. The doc is pretty confident about the prognosis at this point. He did mention that, depending on exactly how the nerves are arranged in relation to the mass, he may or may not be able to get the whole thing out in one go; if the mass has grown around the nerves rather than just pushed them out of the way, he'll need to remove what he can and then we're probably looking at radiation to shrink what's left, but that's something the surgeon will probably need to determine once he's actually got his human eyes on my husband's human body. There's also a chance--small, to be sure, but not zero--of nerve damage during the surgery, which intellectually I knew but being reminded of it just turned on that anxiety-klaxon in my brain, too.10 -

Reached my All Time High after battling really bad Anxiety through Covid. Finally decided enough was enough. Started eating healthier and drinking less alcohol. Basically, started giving a crap about myself again. I've tried losing weight before but I'm approaching it differently this time. I'm not worried so much about the scale or how many inches I've lost and more about how I feel, mentally and physically. Started wearing a fitbit and paying attention to my sleep patterns, stress levels, and steps on top of calories. I'm allowing myself more calories than I have in past tries and not cutting out as much (which is funny because I'm having a lot more success with more cals at this point). I want this to be a lifestyle change- not a temporary fix.
And I do feel better! My anxiety is a lot better. I'm sleeping better. My knees don't hurt as much standing up. I can take longer walks without getting as winded. I'm generally in a better mood. And my clothes are fitting better which is always welcome!
Weekly goals- I'm going away this weekend and going to have a good time with my kiddos. I'm planning on logging a ton of steps walking IKEA and the zoo. But I will be enjoying the Swedish meatballs and a few craft beers! But after that, back to meal planning! I'd like to try to get more steps in this week and maybe get that heart rate up a bit!11 -

Happy with my loss this week and hoping I'm on track for my goal of under 209 by the end of October. If I can get there it will be a huge accomplishment as this month has been very stressful.
I did have a NSV victory today, finally! A dress that was too tight last year fit today. It's a flowy maxi dress that is supposed to be loose, and last year I burst into tears when I tried it on and it was uncomfortably tight. It was so discouraging because it's not like a pair of jeans that feels too tight but they're always kinda tight and forgiving. This was a dress that had always been very loose and flowy and I couldn't even get it on over my boobs. So I felt amazing this morning when I pulled it on and it swished around my legs!
I had been getting a little discouraged because my jeans feel the same, I still can't get my wedding ring on, and no-one has noticed that I've lost anything, but I know I'm in early days. As @kenziestabes noted above, being 5'11" has its advantages in that we can carry an extra 30lbs pretty easily, but it also means that it's virtually unnoticeable when I lose weight until I hit some significant numbers.
My other victory for the past few weeks is that I haven't felt deprived. Last night we went out for a celebratory meal and I simply ate less of all the things I was craving. I had fish tacos, a delicious soup, onion rings, chocolate cake, etc. But it was one taco instead of three. A cup of soup instead of a bowl. One onion ring instead of splitting an order. A few bites of chocolate cake just to enjoy it. I didn't stuff myself and even though it was a lot more calories than I've been eating, I enjoyed it all without feeling stuffed or deprived.
Plans for this month:
🍁 Keep my calories in the 1250-1350 range.
🍁 Keep monitoring my hunger levels.
🍁 Keep my fiber intake up.
Goals:
🎃 Focus on the 98% of my day that is mental mindset, good habits, and having a plan, rather than the 2% of my day that's the workout
🎃 Log everything
🎃 Stay hopeful6
