Well someone looks very guilty ... missing our steak for dinner this evening. Plan B: Pizza
BTW: Even though he is trying to look sad he was wagging his tail ... happy & very full dog. Now he is sleeping off his dinner.
Meet Monte our standard poodle ... the thief!

@Lilylady3k I am still laughing! Thank you for the uplifting moment in your life5

Well I have a small whoopie lol. My fitness pal told me last week I hit the lifetime goal on here and today was my log in day 300...have to celebrate the small stuff7

AF today with 1 bottle of "pink grapefruit Perrier"...it's Tuesday and figured to stay AF a bit until Halloween.
I am feeling okay but since my drinking went up the past month, I am waking up at 3 a.m. super wide awake. At least I have a lot of energy...
Jumping over to the travel discussion...what's your travel bucket list look like?
Mine would be: 5+ weeks covering Australia/Tasmania/New Zealand South Island/Thailand/Singapore and do it all during 1 big trip because I detest long haul flights and traveling but it's cheaper and less taxing this way. I have to be retired to take that much time off. I love to design my own trips.
Then I would do another but go to Austria mainly for many hikes but spend some days in Bavaria region of Germany and also make my way to Slovenia and Northern Italian Alps region. I'd do most of it using train. That would be the second "big trip".
Husband will never do a cruise but I am up for it - I'd rather be dancing to 80's music on a ship than strapped in a plane for a day and half with no sleep any day.5 -
I am continuing with my usual goals, 16-20 AF days per month.
Diary style
Thursday October 21 - Drinks - Had a great day, then a hike, then a couple of drinks with my friend that I went hiking with.
Friday October 22 - AF - Rainy and kind of yucky. A Grand Marnier would have been nice, but I am heading into split shifts again, so didn't.
Saturday October 23 - AF - Rough long day at work with only a 45 minute break in between shifts - felt like having a drink, didn't.
Sunday October 24 - 2 drinks. Still planning on making my 16AF minimum for the month.
Monday October 25 - AF. I worked only day shift today, so had time to get the rest of my harvested beets trimmed and peeled to be cooked in the morning before work. Such an exciting life lol. I will be AF tomorrow for sure too.
Tuesday October 26 - AF - Might have drinks Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, surprise days off coming up starting Thursday after so many split shifts this month. Going to a play with some friends on Friday night (there hadn't been any live theatre since the pandemic began) and we usually have dinner and/or drinks beforehand . They serve wine and beer at the theatre, neither of which I am into.
Rolling total - 15AF days out of 26 days.5 -

@dawnbgetheathy - Yes a huge 2 inch think steak raw .. left the plate and paper towel it was wrapped in by the trash can across the room from the counter where it was resting.
One time I was cooking fish and turned around and my fish fillets were missing. I swear I feed him but he loves to be a sneaky little thief.3 -
Was thinking about this topic when I saw this thread. I have always heard that if you really want to lose weight/maintain health, cut back on alcohol. This discussion is a great motivator and came at just the right time.
Welcome! Yes, Iāve found that to be true personally. If you havenāt seen the list of resources at the beginning of the thread, there is a ton of good info. Everyone here has different reasons for wanting to cut back, but they are all valid!!!! Weight loss and better health is way up there on the list!3 -

What a beautiful thief, I mean dog! Oooh he is sneaky. He looks like heās only playing the part of being ashamed. Ten bucks says heād do it again in a heartbeat!4 -
One glass of wine last night, no real reason for it, but at least that near-empty bottle in the fridge is no longer staring at me. Next planned drinking is Friday night for book club. Now I have to cobble together a Halloween costume.
@globalhiker my bucket list is traveling the country and visiting the national parks in an RV, visiting family in Germany, and sailing down the ICW in a big live aboard sailboat. I guess a sailboat is like a floating RV!6 -
@Lilylady3k - Monte is soooo cute, too funny!4

Not checked in all month and itās showing in my behaviour.
Have had alcohol 8times which is ok, still under my targeted allowance but I am so bad at controlling the quantity, I just canāt/wonāt stop at 2 glasses!! Grrrr!
Time to read through the encouraging words on the thread, re-set and re-focus.
Not helping with my weight loss journey either. I made it to 40lb loss and thatās slowly creeping up again and I still want to loose another 80lbs. Youād think after spending 3 years fighting cancer Iād have more sense! No more alcohol for the reminder of the month!!9 -
I wasnāt sure! So LSU then? I asked because my son went to Ole Miss for a semester. Heās at IU now3
-
So - I made it to day 9 without any alcohol, but after an afternoon of dental work, my husband ordered a margarita and I caved. That was two days ago. Going to try again for 10 days. I definitely felt healthier. And Iām proud of myself for not turning one evening into multiple evenings. Thatās the hardest part for me, once Iām off track itās hard to get back on.8

DH & I were AF this evening at an Italian restaurant with our adult kids celebrating my birthday. Being supportive. DIL is pregnant and due in December. My daughter is pregnant but not told anyone yet but us. So to help keep the secret we didn't order wine for the table ... because her brother would have commented if she did not have a glass. As it was he was in shock that no one ordered alcohol this evening.6

Late posting because I had another long 12 hr. workday. My brain is focused on food and sleep at this point.
Feeling impressed with so many people reporting progress in so many ways and taking control of their lives...
@77topcat, wow 40 lbs gone is amazing, I would be elated to have 10 lbs off!
@SavageMrsMoose, 9 days with no alcohol is a very good feeling...
Happy Birthday to you @Lilylady3k, mine is Thursday! Now I remember, lots of us had birthdays around the same time...who else?

@globalhiker - Happy Birthday to you too!!!6

Happy Birthday @lilylady3k. That is a great dinner story. A win win for all involved. Beautiful Monte btw. How can you resist that remorseful face?
The birthday train started with @dawnbgethealthy at the end of September, then it was my birthday October 2, and @mainelylisa had hers on Oct 8th. There were others last year but they have not posted in months.6
