Hi Sober Squad 😊😁
Hope everyone is doing well, just thought I'd ask ya'll what 1 of your favourite benefits are of quitting / interrupting your alcohol intake?
For me, it's discovering my love of reading. I have an actual hobby now !! I would never have discovered this had I not stopped / interrupted my drinking. Reading has opened up a whole new world for me.
May have to buy more book shelves 😬📚
It's having a tons of time in the evening after work to do lots of things. Teaching myself how to build a website, create a small business, yes reading too like you, ....
Also, I like remembering the night before.2 -

It's been awhile since I dropped in, I hope everyone is doing well, making progress and finding peace. I just checked ny app and I'm at 942 days, but if I had to list my favorite benefit of quitting is not thinking about drinking all the time. I also now realize that I looked forward to drinking more than the drinking itself. In hindsight, drinking had taken the place of a lot of good things that most of us take for granted. A good night's sleep, a remembered and deep conversation with a loved one...the list goes on.6 -
Good morning! I have not drank in the last few days and I feel good.
Why would I wasted my weekend being nauseous, tired and puffy eyed?
Not this weekend.7 -
GOOD MORN Just dropping in to say HI to all my working-toward-sobriety warriors regardless of which stage of sobriety we are at!!
I've been attending some Freedom rallies in my area...yesterday's was in London Ontario with 5,000 people who came together to support the police officers, paramedics, healthcare workers and others in Canada who are facing an unpaid leave/termination of their jobs for not wanting a medical intervention forced on them. Is it ok that people are losing their jobs/careers they have worked their entire lives for making a personal medical decision? I think not!!
As we all wear our poppies in the coming weeks in remembrance of those who risked and gave their lives in various wars to fight for our right to choose how we want to live our lives, let's remember what that poppy stands for! If we don't know what the constitution of our country includes or our what our fundamental human rights are, please do some research, because the measures that are being taken currently in response to this health crisis is infringing on many of those rights....in one word they are "illegal."
Regardless of what our personal choice is, whether vaxxed or not, we need to stand together in unity for freedom. I know that your country is becoming divided on this issue as are those in my country...THIS is not the country I was born into and I so hope that supporting those who are fighting for us "legally" to maintain the rights of our FREE countries, we will be able to heal together!!
I am wishing peace on all of us here regardless of where we stand on this issue, PLEASE, let's stand together to maintain our freedoms, because once they are gone our kids & grandkids may be the recipients of a very different world going forward.

GOOOOD Morning...I hope everyone is healthy & happy today...when things get tough remember this: "I am EXACTLY where I need to be right now." I repeat this phrase to myself regularly when I get anxious about the future or regrets about the past. It brings me back to the present
I hope everyone is hangin in3 -

I'm doing well! I drink on occasion but not like I used to. Of course, sobriety 24/7 is best for me, but sometimes "good enough" is what I can do. My daughter turned 21 and we both had a drink at lunch. She was so excited to order one.
I guess that's normal; but I didn't promote it with her. I remained neutral. She knows my struggle with alcohol and I've spoke frankly on it. It's her journey now.3 -

hi beka, its been 1294 for me.April of 2018 . Gotta say, I sure dont miss anything about it. The guilt, the anxiety and shame involved . Plus the money I have saved. Also, seems to have gotten easier too, which is a relief. Keep up the good work and it continues to pay off . .........best wishes to everyone7

Yes, It becomes a way of life and not much of a consideration....but a wee desire can appear when least expected...not often though thank goodness...keep up the fight, it is definitely worth it

Hi friends! I''m still doing well enough. Not 100 percent sober. Just can't build that momentum. But not daily drinking either which is good.
Since turning 50 two years ago, even two cocktails messes with my sleep, racing heartbeat, hangxiety, and horrible sleep.
Even when i'm tempted, I ask myself, do you want to sleep tonight or not? Usually I choose good sleep.6 -
Hi @lorrainequiche59 in case your wondering where I am these days, I'm still here ! I started my own sobriety thread. Its in the challenges section called Sobriety Matters ~ I sent you a private message on here. Not sure if you received it or not. ❤

Hey ! I actually made my own sobriety thread so I have been hanging out on there more often these days. But I will still pop by and say hello here too.
Hope everyone is well 😊❤
Cool. Why did you decide to leave this group and start another?3 -
I guess our little thread is dead..... So sad... We had a good run!!2
-
^^ I can't help but notice I'm getting a couple of 'disagrees' on my last comment.
The way I see it, there is nothing stopping people from continuing to add to this thread. Maybe instead of hitting 'disagree' on my comment, add to the thread instead, and keep it alive ??
It's not my responsibility to prove that I didn't intend to kill the thread. Why would I want to do that?? This thread helped me immensely. Why can't there be 2 threads about sobriety? There is absolutely nothing stopping anyone from continuing to add to this thread. 🤷🏼♀️
I eventually decided to just ignore the "disagrees" they're utterly pointless if no one is willing to actually engage in terms of what they disagree with.3 -
I am starting again this is so hard but I wik keep trying.0
-
Hey All, its been a while since I have been to this thread, still sober and going well. I will try to stop by more, please feel free to friend me. Bein2day, I will try to find your thread too - sort of like meetings ... its nice to have variety for many reasons :-)1
-
Hey this thread has been kaput for a while but I am jumping in to say hello and if anyone wants to chat please do! Our other thread Sobriety matters has been taken down so comment here if you feel like it!4

Did you see that Leslie Jordan died? I loved his humor. He was also sober for decades and quite funny about it. https://people.com/health/leslie-jordan-was-more-than-2-decades-sober-the-hardest-thing-that-i-ever-did/1
