So, got up this morning, had my cup of decaf, did my check in here, walked 6.7 miles with my group, came home and finally caught up here by reading all 9 pages, brewed a cup of 1/4 caff (a splurge), and now trying to respond.
@musicsax - good luck and I hope you feel wonderful for your son's wedding. For my daughter's in 2017, I struggled with those last pounds, got my dress fit, and then suddenly starting dropping weight every week. My dress sadly was awkwardly big at the wedding. Not a problem I expected. Now I have my niece at the end of May, and I am trying to undo some of my damage from the past 9 months of stress eating so that some dress will fit.
@threewins - I am hading fun trying to guess the body parts for your measurements!
@Jaccimc63 - congrats on the good news on Hubby's biopsies.
@kayHBE - hopefully i will give you a laugh. I tend to read from the bottom up (yes, no efficient and rather weird). Well, I see your daily numbers and my first interpretation was daily calories and fat grams, instead of your daily steps and exercise minutes. Congrats on your efforts!
@enlightenme3 - share thoughts on the shingles shot? I think I am doing it in May when I get back home. I have been hoping to do it 2 years ago, then COVID and all those vaccinations caused me to put it off. DH and I are both 60.
@Amti57 - one step at a time and congrats on trying to take control!
@Tiabirdie56 - sorry to hear you have had a rough go of COVID. Hope you are 100% soon!
@AR10at50 - your fundraising sounds special and I love the idea of your pollinator garden!
@Barfarkle - you made me realize I missed the arrival of spring two days ago.
@Jedashultz - sorry to hear of your DH and DMIL. You and your family are going through so much.
@Ashleycarole86 - congrats on reach that UWG. That is exciting. Sorry that you have not been feeling well. Hope you feel better quickly.
@Hilogirl2018 - For me, 1200-1300 calories would be too low. I could never sustain that. It tricky finding the balance that works for an individual. I think I started out with 1420/day when I was weighing a little over 150. BUT I did not eat back exercise, so that did put me lower. I now do eat exercise on top of whatever calories I set.
@Quiltingjaine - so exciting for DGD#3. Congrats!
@Topofthemorning - That is a scary situation for your son. Hope they find a treatable solution quickly. Do remember to take care of yourself. You need to take care of you so that you can be there for him.
@kramereh - congrats on Onederland!
@Camandjarvis - sorry about your car. Hope your BigBro heals quickly.
@Playhardkf2017 - Exciting on your body fat drop. Congrats! I have been wanting to do a body scan for fat analysis for years. Maybe I will finally treat myself this summer.
@4Pheonix - probably depends on the length of your hair. That could be a fun before and after experiment for you to try and report back. :P
Have a great day all! Going to try and keep up more regularly!!9 -
@CamandJarvis So sorry to hear about BigBro and Toto. Prayers for you all!!3

Goals: HIT.MY.STEP.GOAL!!! 10,000/day; <100 carbs/day; Pelo ride 2-3x/week; end the round lower than what I started it at.
3/18- 183.4 I was up earlier than usual, so that’s likely the reason for the uptick. I’m not worried about it at all. 72 net carbs, step goal hit, and Pelo ride done.
3/19-183.4 I’m okay with this. This week has been rough, as my youngest kid has the flu, DH has bronchitis, and I’m not feeling great myself. Still, I’m sticking to my plan! 67 net carbs and step goal hit.
3/20- 182.4 46 net carbs and step goal hit. Still recovering from this flu business, so it’s been a weekend of not doing much at all.
3/21-182.2 Pretty darn happy with my progress lately, despite not feeling well! We have a trip to Disney planned for the last week of April and now I’m really excited to see where I’ll be till then. 48 net carbs and step goal hit. Ready to rock this week!
3/22- 182.0 Another small loss, but still a loss! 59 net carbs and step goal hit. I’m getting close to feeling 100% better, just a little congestion left. Thank goodness!8 -
@SModa61 Happy to see you and the “boys” reporting in! I did notice that your dates are off by 1 month. I do have to acknowledge that time flies and I seem to have lost 2020 entirely from my mind!3

3/21 209.6 Swam, ate a few pieces of chocolate, but overall ate pretty well. Worried about adult son (26) who has headaches & dizziness. MRI suggests either a mass effect in his brain or scattered neurological abnormalities, that don't explain his symptoms, says the ER neurologist. Follow up with neurologist this Thursday, and then a cardiologist. Mystery to be unraveled. At least our choices to lose weight are in our control. I'm keeping my son in my prayers this day, as I choose to eat healthily, moderately & to try to organize my tax prep.
3/22 210.4 I'm still astounded at what eating food with a higher salt content have on our weight. I ate out with a friend yesterday, and realize that our food, while delicious, had lots of salt & likely sugar.

Mine's set so low because I am so so sedentary (part-time wheelchair user, starting to pepper in some tiny walks when my joints allow). But it does feel a bit low! I may adjust up for a bit to see how it goes. Thanks for the input!5 -

3/18 173.4 I'm hoping for a whoosh this round to break out of the 170s. But that's just a hope— in terms of goals that are within my control, I'd like to take four forest walks this round, which I'll denote with an *
3/19 174.0 Booo. Okay. Fine.
3/20 * 173.2 Back to my starting weight for this round. I might be eating a bit too few calories lately? Around 1200-1300, which MFP gave me, but that's what I did previously to lose and that time, I was starting off 20 lbs lighter. Not sure if I should try to do some calorie cycling...in other news, got my first forest walk in yesterday!
3/21 *172.3 Did a little walk by the bay yesterday, went over on my sugar limit, but woke up to this nice surprise on the scale! If I can hover around 172 this round, I'll be happy. Closer and closer to the 160s. Which is still miles from where I want to be, but it's so much better than where I started!
3/22 171.8 Wow! Doubt it'll stay this low, but it's nice to see.

🌷🌷Happy Spring! 🌷🌷 It’s bright and sunny here and warming up. Perfect day to take Rory for a walk & then play 🎾, then do a bit of pruning. Not quite warm enough yet for real garden cleanup (don’t want to kill the baby insects in the leaf litter), but I can start a few things, including planning some new front yard landscaping. Cheers me right up. Enjoy your day!

3-21= 151.8 (t= 149.8) probably should have held off weighing for a few days to get a weeks worth of not enough walking, not enough water, a little too much food daily, a 7 hr car ride, not much TMI, etc out of my system. I know I did not eat 10,000 calories over maintenance to gain 3# of fat, so will just wait until it all clears out to see where I am really at. Also last round I was trying to eliminate dairy to see how it affects me and I didn't follow this when I was gone, so starting that again.

3/18- 190 (-1.4) I’m not sure I can trust this, but I’m thrilled!! Down 74.1 pounds since May. Almost at 75!! I’m swimming today. Thirty pounds to go to hit my goal weight and then I’ll figure out if that’s a good place for me.
3/19- 190 (-1.4) It was good to get in the pool yesterday. I have dinner tonight with a friend I haven’t seen for a very long time, so I’ll have that as my indulgence meal this week, so I’ll be bumping up tomorrow. I can’t believe I’m almost in the 180’s. This week, perhaps?
3/20- 191.4 (0) Enjoyed spending time with my friend yesterday. The bump is expected and I’m looking forward to a new low later this week. It’s spring here in Colorado and I’ll soon be back hiking with my sister once the snow melts. I can’t wait.
3/21- 191.4 (0) A quiet day today just doing art business related work. These are the days where it’s a little tough for me to stay on track. So I’ll do my best to stay focused and to drink all my water.
3/22- 190.6 (-.8) On my way back down. I swam my hour in the pool today, so hoping for a new low tomorrow.10 -

@quiltingjaine I don't find it too bad but the prices of fresh vegetables (actually everything) is so high and kale is still reasonably priced so I added it.
Last year, I had chick-fil-a's crunchy kale salad. It is delicious. Anyhow, that made me start googling Kale and salads. What I read is that to make kale more tender in a salad you are supposed to massage the kale with the dressing. Have I done this yet? No. But I did read that. On the other hand, I did use Kale in Colcanon (spelling?) for St. Patricks day. I loved it.

Day/Weight/Comment
3/18 / 171.6 / Poor sleep due to sickness. Have to get through a workday yet but otherwise just resting up the body. Hope everyone enjoys the weekend ahead!
3/19 / 170.6 / Lots of Netflix and reading here while I try to recover. The sun is out and the weather is beautiful so I'm bummed to be missing a great weekend. This too shall pass. Trying to get my body the time it needs to heal so I can hopefully get over this sooner rather than later.
3/20 / 167.4 / Still sick but that doesn't take away the shine that I reached my ultimate goal weight today that I set in early 2021. This weight represents the first time I've been in my normal BMI range in adulthood. I am so happy.
3/21 / 167.4 / Got through as much of my work day as I could and now it's back to bed for rest.
3/22 / 167.8 / Tested the waters with a very short (less than 1KM) walk. I feel like it'll be a while before I'm back to my regular activities. My husband is sick now too so it will remain a very slow week here.

@SModa61 thank you!! There’s a place in Boston that does dexa scans (dxametrics) and it’s like $100 (if I remember from previous posts, you’re in the Boston “area” most of the year right?). It’s right in the back bay, so it would be fun to do and then spend the day wandering around shopping and what not. I did mine in the winter so it was a little less fun lol. Now the gym I go to has a pretty darn accurate scale/machine thing I use every couple of weeks to track my progress.4

I am impressed with your memory! Yes, Mass is our "primary" home. In my past searches, I did come across the dxametrics. Looks really interesting. The challenge is I refuse to drive into Boston. So its either public transport, which should work, or hook my husband into a ride (or rather drive) along. So you did a Dexa there? Did you try any of their other services?3
