Happy Hump Day!
New ladies and those who aren't comfortable posting photos of grands, we also ooh and ahh over pix of your pets, flowers, vacations, ancestors, etc.
Carla - you have an important job - how sad the principal wants you shoved away like that. Too many managers either don't appreciate or have a clue about what the support staff does. I like the idea of you working from home all the time - getting away from that toxic environment sounds good, doesn't it? Crossing fingers! I "hung in there" at my last job to boost my retirement a little.
Kylia and Lisa - guess who mowed the back yard yesterday on the zero turn mower? There are at least 3 dozen trees of all sizes and flower beds (weed beds) DH installed, so I got a lot of practice doing zero turns, lol.
My great neighbor came by in the early afternoon and gave me another lesson on the mower, plus mowed the front yard and ran to the filling station and filled up the gas cans.
Looks like "drunk mowing" but at least it's just about all done. Still have half an hour at the back of the property near the trees under the powerline, if it dries off enough this afternoon I'll get that done. Need to practice backing up more. And thinking of getting a walk behind gas mower. I have wanted one for years, DH always poo-pooed it, not sure why. He probably had a good reason, so will do research before I pull out the credit card.
Kylia - are you sure those are pix of your grands? Great looking group, they resemble their beautiful young looking grandmother Kylia who must have gotten married at age 10.
Vicki - I was actually happy to hear you investigated another job. I used to do that a lot. I often was looking for a new challenge, just something different, etc. It generally brought me around to gaining new appreciation for the job I had. I'd list the pros and cons of the new job vs. my current job. Current job won out and I stuck it out until retirement.
Beth - I was glad to read you got the POA's set up for your folks. I think with elderly couples, they feel they need to stick around for each other. When one of them passes, they are freed up from that responsibility in a sense. Glad the headstone arrived for your son and you were able to get some closure with that part.
Debbie - thanks for sharing those photos of your walk! Great you were able to meet up with your daycare girl. A jumbo jack in the box sounds yummy!
Karen - thank you for sharing your brother's latest painting. I have a lot of respect and admiration for people who are so talented with brushes and paint!
Pip - what are you going to store in that cute blanket chest? Great job! My favorite colors!
Annie - good for you getting your dumbbells done. When Mr. Toe gets better I need to get back doing that too, plus the ankle weights. All of my weight equipment lives in the potting shed, I'm going to find a place in the house now to store and use it. I had too many months of sitting in the house (mostly due to weather - the potting shed was COLD!) and feel so stiff and sore when I get up in the morning.
Also I just realized I can watch Youtube Tai Chi videos on the Roku TV
Rebecca - LOL at your nakee photos. I dare you to post one, maybe you can somehow blurr the "personal" parts to make it OK for family viewing. Great tans!!
Barbara - yes I saw Dr. Campbell's presentation on the Zoe project. Several years ago prior to the pandemic, I was ready to sign up for the "American Gut Project" where you sent in a sample and they analyzed it, gave you the results and added to the database. I think there was a small fee. They stopped it when the Covid hit. Not sure they have resumed, but their website is going again: www.mymicrobiome.info
I learned a lot from Tim Spector's book and try to have 30 different plants per week to keep my gut microbes happy. Kind of went off the rails this past month but now am paying better attention to the grocery list.
Heather - great to hear you were watching reruns of Poirot and Death in Paradise. Two of my favorites. I've become hooked on "London Kills" and the third season has just been uploaded to Amazon Prime/Acorn.
Kelly - I want to be one of your daycare kids. If Elon Musk can invent a time machine, I'd like to be a beta tester. He's probably working on one.
Better scoot. Hugs all around!

SW WA State where we are having great April weather!6 -
I found this interesting this morning. A reminder of how fascinating it is to really get to know another person. We are just not listening hard enough to our loved ones.
Rain is a bit variable. I'm hoping for a dry spell for the outside tea/dinner with my friend G. DH is having a fry up for himself.
Love Heather UK xxxxxx

Kylia ~ I love your granddaughter's red hair. A really good looking group of young people.
Lanette ~ Zipping around on the mower sounds like fun!
Karen ~ Your brother's art is lovely. Wonderful blend of colors.
Summer rain and thunder storms in Georgia today!

That was me.Monday
Work - of course
Still sorting things out in the aftermath of my phone fiasco last week.
Got another large document finished tonight and sent it.
But I finished the large document while watching Death in Paradise and Poirot, sitting in my chair in my comfy clothes ... so that's almost like relaxing.
Snow down to 400 metres tomorrow ... chilly and windy. Winter!
I've had to dig through my closet to see what I have in the way of pants ... slacks. I so rarely wear them!

Machka - gosh, that's right! Now I remember! Aren't those shows great? Are you able to get any others like "London Kills" - interesting plotting. And I ran across a British sitcom called "Kate and Koji" starring Brenda Blethyn of Vera. Really liked that one too.
So interesting hearing about your weather down under - your winter is approaching and our summer is, well, somewhere, lol. At least here in the Pacific NW. I think in the southern and southwestern US summer has been there for months.

Morning, afternoon and evening, y'all, whatever the case may be...
My much-less-weighty (and hopefully shorter) second attempt at the images conversation:Weighing in on the images conversation reminded me that I need to make sure that I'm using emoticons when I'm talking about serious subjects. I genuinely never felt insulted 🤣, nor that anyone was chastising me🥰--but one thing I did neglect to do was to share my filters.
I have filters that have grown because of my exhaustion with the scare stories that have inundated all of us for well over two years now. Not going to dive deeper into that (you're welcome, I almost did!), am saying that just because I have that outlook doesn't mean everyone feels like I do about it.
That said, do I believe I'm right? Sure. Don't we all? 😎 But as Mary so gracefully said, a difference of opinion is just that, not an attack of any kind. One of the reasons I love this group is that we seldom get caught up in all that.
Our main reason for being here is the love and support of a group of like-minded, 50+ women who are trying to achieve or maintain a healthy lifestyle. To those who are new, there are always going to be topics that get lots of opinions, but in the end, there's also the love and support of dozens of women, and many of us have probably been in your shoes. and are willing to advise or commiserate as necessary.
Ahh, done and dusted.
Heather and Carol and all the other rainy folks: Same weather for us, but the radar is showing a massive squall coming in that's supposed to dump a lot of water on us about two or three hours from now. We just came out of the first wave now. Was going to set my three unplanted hostas this morning, but don't want them to drown.
Everyone - I'm being lazy, so I'll just say I ditto everything Lanette said except the broken toe. Oh, and I'm revisiting Qi Gong videos this morning rather than tai chi. I'm sure there's a difference, I just haven't found it yet. Oh - and the 30 plants a week. I would be surprised if I ate 30 plants a decade. Not proud of it, just saying.
Lanette - I use the walk behind push mower on the bits that are too slanted for my nerves when I'm on the big zero-turn. When it leans too far to the left or the right, I get a little freaked out. And I really do not give a quack about whether the lines in the yard are straight.
Carol - Thank you for the pics for Wednesday, they made me smile!
Karen - Love your brother's painting.
That's it for me... Hope your Wednesday is wonderful. My DH called in sick for the first time in my memory and is ensconced in his chair. His stomach was giving him fits this morning - we ate the same things last night (indeed, he ate half of my burger, which is how it usually goes). Not sure what set it off, my stomach is fine. Also, when it rains, all the mowing crews hang out in his shop "helping" him do things, riding the timeclock as long as they can and driving him right around the bend. When it rains, they can't be out there breaking stuff, so his job is also much less urgent. He caught everything up in the shop the last two days of rain. Glad to have him home, but probably won't accomplish much.
Later y'all,
With much love,
Lisa in AR6 -

Yes they are. We get a lot of British programming here which suits us. Tonight was As Time Goes By and Midsommer Murders.
Tomorrow will likely include Father Brown.
June 1 is the first day of winter here. Sometimes we won't have anything particularly wintery until July but this year, winter decided to roll in right at the start. Heaps of snow at higher elevations, lots of rain at lower elevations. Wind and chilly temps.
I'm kind of scrambling to find suitable clothes.
Most of the time when winter strikes, I've lost weight over summer, but the sedentary nature of my current job hasn't been good for my weight so I have to try on things in my closet to see if I can find something that will fit comfortably.

I do TRULY LOVE MY JOB so.............. GOOD NEWS!!!
Well… I sorta went off on KellyC (poor thing) cuz she’s the one who I’ve worked with for almost a decade and she’s the one who showed me the room. Asked her if she'd talked to KellyM (principal) yet and if she'd included Sharon (my boss) because I was "not happy" and had had a terrible night last night and was already looking for a new job or retiring. YUP... I told her, then I also gave her my issues with the room and some other things, again poor thing, cuz it's not her fault. SO........ I got this email response from her!!!
"I am so sorry you felt horrible after yesterday. I talked to Kelly M. today and she forgot to tell me that the district buildings/grounds people came over on Friday and said that it could not be used as an office space even though it had previously been used that way. You will be in a new office that is being built across from where my old office was located. So in that locker bay there are going to be offices added on and that is where you will be. It isn't built yet so there is nothing to show you but that should be better. I hope that makes you feel better. She felt horrible for not connecting with me sooner, but they had to figure out plan B. Our Sped staff originally was going to have this new office but she made the change to it being for you."
THANK GOD! So it’s first floor, right down the hall from KellyC, right down the hall from the AT library where I work with her, just down the other hall from the lunchroom and bathrooms and staff center... so it will actually be just about perfect and it will be brand new!
Slept so much better last night. Thank you ALL for your words of encouragement and love and support. As I said, I really, truly do love my job. I just didn't like who I was going to be working "for" in the future, at that moment. (even though, being in her building, I wasn't ever going to be working "for" her... Sharon, Sped Director, will always be my boss... thank GOD!)

So far I’ve just been putting our hiking boots, yogi collapsible little pool and other stuff in there, nothing special1 -
Carla ~ Great news for you! Aside from working in a broken down trailer (rain water gushed through the walls, tiles on the floor warped, florescent light bulbs shattered from the ceiling onto a student's desk), the other worst place I worked was on a stage in the old, old school building. I resigned (retired) when they wanted to put me back in that same trailer with a teacher who was manic depressive (had worked with her for 20 yrs). Guess they did that to get me to retire!
Anyway, I hope your new space will be great and you will be working with folks you enjoy being around.

Oh, I forgot to say - apparently nothing is ever simple for me. I went in to get the crown fitted yesterday. The dental assistant had the thing all ground to perfection and ready for the dentist. He fitted it on, and as he did, we all heard three loud snaps. All of us thought it was just the adhesive bubbling out the edge. It looked good, he walked out, and the tech started flossing my teeth to make sure it was seated well and to remove the adhesive.
The brand new crown broke in half--that was the noise we heard. So... the dentist came back in and pulled the other half of the crown off and then did a little more grinding on the existing tooth. The cool part about that was, since he changed the surface of the tooth, they had to reorder another crown--and to make that happen, the tech did a scan. No X-rays or radiation, just a topographical image of my teeth on that side of my mouth. Coolest dental thing EVER. I got to see my teeth in the monitor.
After that, the tech stuck my temporary crown on and sent me home. Took a sip of water, and the stupid thing fell right off, so I had to go back and get it stuck on.
Yesterday was not my day.9 -
Carla I'm so glad to hear that everything worked out well for you! I was just going to post that OSHA made my school district move me out of the back room because it was not an appropriate place for an office. So I was going to suggest to you to mention that! Now you don't have to!! 😀

Lisa .... You said: "Weighing in on the images conversation reminded me that I need to make sure that I'm using emoticons when I'm talking about serious subjects." My response ... We so need a laugh button. Also, your "luck" at the dentist is exactly the kind of "luck" that I have and what I never look forward to going to the dentist. I have an implant scheduled for the 21st. Already fussing about it.
Carla ... yay for things working out!
Beautiful day here today. Cool but gloriously sunny.

Carla great news!
Lanette way to go on that mower! I would be totally intimidated.
I did my hour of yoga and fifteen minutes of marching. Yay! Might be time to look for a longer marching video soon. I walked 45 mins on Sunday. But the marching is faster. My coordination fails before my breath gets puffy.
Thanks for all your wise advice about my mom. Lately I am waiting until we are both settled down to see how far I can push. Meanwhile my dad bought a chainsaw on a pole. I can't imagine anything more dangerous! I think he is having a midlife rebellion at 87. So for father's day, I should get him a gift card for the emergency room?

Hi Barbie, and all-
Heidi here. New to group. From Central WA.2 -
Michele--I have never heard of that rule at a motel. We have our grandchildren come swim when we visit and never had a problem. Would it of cost more to add him to your room? Glad you got to spend time with PJ and hope your next visit is longer.
Pip--The chest looks very nice, great job.
Kylia--Cute grandchildren, love the clover crown, haven't seen them in years.
Karen--Love the picture your brother painted. So much talent.
Carla--Great news on the job and office.
Lisa--OH NO!!!! More than I could of taken. I have a thing about dentist and drills. That's why when they told me I had to get dentures I was excited. Figured I would never have to go back, I could just send them in a jar. I was wrong, no one told me when you lose weight it effects your mouth. When I lost the 100 pounds I had to get a new set as the other ones where to wide.
Annie--My first question is does he have a reason to need a chainsaw on a pole? This is one time when we have to laugh so as not to cry??
DH just texted me to let me know he had a fall at work. This is his second fall in less than a month, but first time at work. Fell across a box on his chest. Guess they filled out the paperwork and talked to their nurse and he is to self care and unless he has breathing problem he is okay. To say I am not happy is not even close. I said what about if you cracked a rib or two. They think I am over reacting, but he is 68 years old and with all the other health issues.
We have had two bad storms so far this week. Lots of rain and hail. So far we have been lucky and not had any damage, but have more coming tomorrow. Our poor dog KIA, ( she is a chihuahua) goes nuts running around and baking when the alert goes off on the TV or scanner. We have started putting the thunder jacket on when it starts and does help some. Our other dog, Oscar just looks at her like she is crazy and goes back to sleep.

Wowsa that sounded nightmarish! My worst job was at a gym on Yokosuka Navy base. They had a pack of wild cats that's could get into the attic and other places. They had traps out for them, but the only evidence of them was fleas. I had so many bites! I quit when summer was in full swing and so was the flea situation.😒🙄

Carla Fingers X’d your and Freddie’s searches for other employment net you wonderful jobs with appreciative people and equivalent or better benefits. Your work situation sounds toxic.
Vickie brava for applying, so sorry the insurance situation broke the deal. Likewise hope and pray for another better job offer.
Katla glad you explained the blueberries came from the freezer. I was getting jealous your crop was already ripe, when our wild huckleberries are barely in blossom. So very sorry for your dear friend’s sad loss.
Allie brava for expediting that delivery. your sense of humor, I’ve never been able to laugh in the face of a mammogram. ;}
I have no children or grandchildren of my own, so enjoy my mfp pals’ grands vicariously. I would be sad to miss those pics, but if their parents preferred not to have them posted to a public forum, like Rita and others, I’d have to respect their decision. Otherwise I’m with Lisa.
Pip smooch that pooch!
Karen thanks for posting your brother’s latest, breathtaking creation. You have been much in my thoughts lately. Are you still planning a move?
Debbie was that the Napa river? I’m with your friend, I don’t want to be near any s-s-s-nakes!!!
Tracey not only is Michaela an artist, she’s a wit!
Still not accountable, low energy, no enthusiasm.
Lighter, lovelies!

Yes, that is the Napa river, just north of the Mare Island bridge a few miles.

We have our Zumba class next to the Napa River on Wed. nights but closer to Mare Island- Such an amazing view plus that nice breeze comes through which we all need during our workout.
That was just a gopher snake. I was shocked to almost step on it but wasn't afraid of it(but no, I didn't pick it up and move it either, thought about it but just guarded it while it very slowly got off the road. He was a good 3ft long.

So tonight's dinner will be breakfast. Frying up some thick slab bacon, and husband is having oatmeal, and I eggs and some whole wheat toast. Having OUI coffee yogurt, grapefruit, pickled beets and cucumbers as well. Should be a good day!
Between last week and this week I have spent about $90 shipping boxes to people! Two boxes to my childhood historical society, 1 to youngest sailor, and 2 to my eldest sailor. I hope they all appreciate them! Wanted to downsize my albums (gave my childhood city historical society all my yearbooks etc) and baking stuff to send to kids, it has definitely ate into our budget!
Still dealing with vertigo issues. Just a couple swirls during the night, but this morning was a couple complete swirls round and round. Takes my breath away, and my head hurts! I think I am going to go back to doctor after my trip and try to fix this! She said a scan might be in order. On the good side, once I am upright I have no issues.
Have a great Wednesday ladies!

Lisa-The last time I had a crown, my temporary fell off. The dentist told me to just hang onto it if my tooth didn't hurt. When I was in Panama, a crown broke. I was going to have it fixed there, but my dentist emailed me back and said if it didn't hurt, just hang onto the crown and chew on the other side. I went 10+ days like that. I don't worry about those crowned teeth so much anymore.
I had a massage yesterday and I feel bruised today. I am having a difficult time finding a therapist I like now. My last good one left the company a couple of years ago and I have not found a good one since. I thought I found one after my last one and he is now on "leave of absence." Grrrrrrr.
I have yet another pain. My knee just randomly started "clicking." I am just wearing a knee support and moving on.
Did my workout. I feel somewhat accomplished.
