    106.91/110 miles completed for July

I forgot to post last night. I ran 6 miles yesterday. It was hot as usual, but it was a good run. Yesterday I got up and got going better. I was able to run through the sprinklers. Today I just didn't want to get up so I missed the sprinklers, but I still had time for 5 miles.

@martaindale Possums are so creepy looking. We are having trouble with a possum right now. He keeps going under our house. We've ordered a trap and are going to catch him and move him somewhere else. The good news is that possums don't carry rabies. But I still don't want one living under my house.

@Mari33a I'm glad your son is doing better.

@eleanorhawkins I hope they get the fires contained soon.

Also my neighbor from the hill country went to that running group this morning and I saw her run on strava. They did a 5k at a pace barely over 9 min/mile. That pace is way faster than I would be able to hold in this heat, even for just 3 miles. And I do my long run on Saturday so I would still need to do another several miles afterwards so I don’t want to go too fast and burn out. IDK. These guys might be too fast for me. Story of my life with running clubs. I’ll give it a chance though. I just don’t want to get left behind to chase the group. I guess we’ll see in a few weeks. I have a weekend in Aug that I will probably head out there.

Maybe your neighbor is one of the leaders of the pack and there are other slower paced runners in the group who aren't on Strava. Good work on your long run and hope the new restaurant is fabulous!

@martaindale Nice running. My HR always drifts up towards the end of a run too, even if the pace is the same, or slower. Enjoy your visit with your friend and the seafood. I agree with @Teresa502 about the group. I'm glad that didn't scare you off and you are going to give it a try. Thanks for setting up the August Challenge.

I did a treadmill Foundation Run today. I knew this morning that I wasn't going to feel like a long run, unless things changed. They didn't. My legs just didn't want to work today. I did run 2.30 miles at an average 13:59 pace - slower than a snail, but hey, that's the way I roll. My average HR was 125 with a max of 137, so not bad. I also walked 0.70 miles for warm up and cool down. That makes my monthly total to date 54.70/70 mile goal.

This morning I went to the gym for my RIPPED class and then came home to run both last night's run and today's run. Yesterday should have been hill repeats, and today was a recovery run, so total I ran 4.6 miles.

I bought my marathon shoes today. Dick's Sporting Goods was having a sale, and I had a coupon, so I got Brooks Ghost 14 for $40 off. I won't wear them until a few weeks before the race. I also got a new Sprints hat in the mail today, and new Goodr glasses in the mail yesterday. I probably should stop shopping for a bit. Shoe and hat porn below.

@marisap2010 - that hat is so fun! I am always on the hunt for cute running hats. Love the Brooks too - wish I could wear Brooks, they have such cute styles but they are just too narrow for me.

Great running in July everyone, despite the heat and other challenges.

@Scott6255 sounds like you are in a great position heading into marathon training with that many miles a month already.

Great job on your total @marisap2010. I'd be tempted to get the 120 too, but probably not enough to go back out there. I love the shoes and the hat. I'm not much of a hat wearer but my running group of women affectionally, and ironically for most of us, call ourselves the Cheetahs, so I love a cheetah themed print. I feel like I just bought new Ghosts, but it might be time again so I should look.

And @marisap2010 I'm sorry your friend may be backing out of Wineglass. I was just talking Wineglass with friends during our long run yesterday. One is doing the full and hoping for a PR and maybe BQ. I ran the half a few years ago and it was quite memorable - that was the race where I fell before crossing the start line and had bloody knees and bruised ribs. But also an incredible adrenaline rush from that craziness that carried me through to a PR (at the time). It's a beautiful course from the little I can remember!

@teresa502 nice shoes as well. Congrats on exceeding your goal for the month. Hope you enjoy your backpacking class! That sounds really valuable.

Good to see you check in @shanaber. Nice job making your goal.

You are doing great @quilteryoyo. Not your goal maybe but you kept going and you're right it's way better than nothing. You've kept up such a great streak with your walking and running.

    @Teresa502 Nice shoes!

@katharmonic I don't wear hats on all runs, but I usually will on a longer run because I find it will wick most of the sweat away instead of it pouring down my face.
And ouch! at falling before the start of Wineglass half. That is awesome that you were able to PR despite that. Tell you friend I said good luck on the full. I'm hoping for a PR, but I am nowhere near fast enough for a BQ.

@AlphaHowls Amazing job once again on your miles! I really like that quote.

@AlphaHowls - thanks for sharing that quote. Competing in 30 stress induced exercises sounds stressful in itself!
