Okay, I didn't see the Heineken tonight but I found this, not too bad:
Ate a little more today, still crushing step and stair goals. Went to the store, got some M shirts and 32" jeans....I've been in a L and 36" for ages so that's really awesome. AF today.

Hello all! I’m Amanda, I’m from Michigan. I am a crazy cat lady and work for a veterinarian. This will be my sixth month with this group and it has helped me cut back on my drinking so much! I am not ready to say I am 100% sober but last month I had 30 days alcohol free 😃
12/1-12/7: 7 out of 7 AF
12/8:AF
The pain is no joke today, yesterday was my first day back at home and I may have done too much. They only give a 2 day supply of narcotic pain meds, otherwise it’s Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I guess it’s Netflix and chill today for me!
12/9: AF
Pain is still here. I wonder if I did too much? I feel like all I did was sit around. I had a friend come visit me, we used to go to the bar together 3 nights a week and get hammered. We talked about all the stupid things we did under the influence and wonder how we made it out unscathed. Neither of us drink anymore. And we both realized last night we are fine with it!
12/10: AF
Healing, healing, healing. Yesterday was rough.9 -
@RockinRobyn672 Thanks for the ideas, I read the Handmaid’s Tale years ago and loved it. Speaking of Hulu, I didn’t think I had it but I clicked on it one day and it opened up. Under the names “Kitty” and “Will,” who I do not know. So, free Hulu for me!
I love reading about everyone kicking butt and hitting their goals!!!4 -
Yesterday my spouse, his sister and her boyfriend and I went Xmas shopping in a cute, historic town near here. It was super fun. The only seats at the restaurant were at the bar. I'm gaining confidence in my ability to handle this kind of thing and immediately ordered an AF beer I have never tried, called Run Wild IPA. It was not bad at all. I am not a beer person but I have found AF wines to be intolerable. The other 3 drank real beers. My SIL asked me if I was having wine (before I ordered) and I just casually said, "no I am doing Dry December". Not another mention about it and I enjoyed every bite of my delicious lunch. I'm proud of myself because I have not gone more than 10 days in a row AF since January, when I did 20. I did 10 days in May. Today is Day 11.10

Hi! I have been a little tied up the last couple days. Tonight was the Christmas boat parade! We packed a picnic dinner. I took an NA beer (Stella). Last night was a Christmas choral concert and then dinner out with friends. That was a planned A event.
Have a good rest of the weekend!
Goal: 15 AF days, no more than 2 drinks, only drink at events
AF: 12/2-8, 10
A: 12/1, 96 -
This group really helps me hold myself accountable, plus everyone is absolutely great. My monthly goal is 16-19 AF days (3A days max weekly) for weight loss and overall health. I post in the mornings about the previous day.
12/5: AF
12/6: AF
12/7: Drinks (2)
12/8: AF
12/9: Drinks (3)
12/10: Drinks (2) - Williamsburg was so much fun! We followed the fifes and drums while they lit up the night and our hearts with their music and torches. I gained weight but my wins were as follows: 1) healthy choices for meals while we were out; 2) stuck to two beverages (a nice hazy IPA called Jerk Bait (LOL) at Precarious Beer Project, and a glass of cabernet with dinner); and 3) last but not least, I successfully skipped the late night snacking.

AF on Saturday, no cravings! That's because nobody was around to bug me. I had total silence and it was divine. Plus, I did not go to the supermarket where the temptations lurk.
Weight is coming off - finally!
9 AF days of Christmas.....may as well rack those up now before the actual holidays.7 -

@lmlmrn and @mfowler883 Thanks for the mentioning the Hieniken000 and Stella NA beers, which I will try.
@lmlmrn The smoker is intriguing. I don't know that I've had smoked popcorn but sounds like it would really be tasty. I do love Smoky Old Fashioneds.
@mfowler883 I also have a collection of beer glasses, one of which is a Chimay goblet, and some from craft breweries during our travels. They bring back good travel memories.4 -
@SunnyDays930 - I haven't thought to look for NA beers at restaurants (duh!). Great job and great idea. I am going to start looking.5
-
Congrats to @globalhiker for some "weight coming off" and @mfowler883 to moving to M/32! That's my biggest incentive; that and it's just a healthier, happier lifestyle.6

@RockinRobyn672
oh DO ask about AF drink lists while out. They don't promote them as much as A lists.
Heineken00 is definitely the closest to "real" beer taste without the buzz. I have never seen stella AF around my new area yet.
Another favorite if mine is Clausthaler citrus WOW that stuff is 'da bomb! But can not get it now where I moved to 🤬5 -

Wow thanks for the note on the Stella! I will have to look for it. I still have one more I bought and have not tried yet. Athletic Brewing Co. Free Wave. Anyone try this one?
So darn that cocktail smoker. I made another smoky old fashioned last night along with a bowl of smoked popcorn. It really was good.
Now I want to smoke some slices of cheddar, gouda and swiss. I will let you know how that turns out. Today is a planned A day for DH and I.
After today's outing we chatted this morning and are putting away the temptations at least during the week and allow an A day on the weekend. We both will feel better about it. my AF days are too low this month.

@SunnyDays930 and @lmlmrn The nice thing about the Run Wild IPA and Free Wave Hazy IPA is that Athletic Brewing Company sells those plus other types of beers on Amazon, which makes it easy, for me at least, to keep on hand. The Lagunitas INPA still beats them in flavor, if there's a choice. It's still nice to mix things up though. They're also around the same amount of calories (70-80).5

I am Dawn, I live in SE BC Canada
My primary motivation for drinking less is weight loss.
I throw up if I have more than 3 drinks, so moderation on drink days is rarely an issue for me lol.
My recurring goal is 16-20 AF days per month. I squeaked to 16 last month.
I like to do this diary style to keep track.
Friday December 09 - Drinks including a Rye Manhattan
Saturday December 10 - Drinks including a Stinger with Rye instead of Cognac. Busy week with late nights ahead starting Tuesday, may try to stay AF until the weekend.

@joans1976 It's hard reading about your rough days! Hang in there. I'm hoping each day is a little better. You are smart to lay low. That sounds like a sweet visit with a former drinking buddy. What is this "Netflix & chill" of which you all speak?
@Lilylady3k smart to try keeping everyone apart until you see how much COVID has or hasn't spread. I read somewhere, or maybe it was a Dr who told me, that the BA.5 variant incubation period is less variable than prior strains that could incubate up to 2 weeks. BA.5 incubates 2 days. If you're symptom free and negative after that, you didn't contract it in that exposure (though, of course, subsequent exposures require corresponding waits). I hope you guys are in the clear and SIL is weathering it.5 -

It would be so GOUDA-U to invite us to your cheese smok'n event. Don't ya think??
Art world is going good. I finally have floor space in the one gallery and am working there off and on.
Have my sights on another classier gallery not to far from my location. And will contact the owner another day.
I went to her gallery anniversary gathering Friday night and tried to speak to her in between her one closed eye and her almost spilling her wine on me I have up and took her business card instead.
Will keep you posted.

@ahoy_m8 - Well we think we were exposed to Covid at the wedding on 12/3. My son in law was not feeling well Wed and tested positive for COVID on Thursday morning. 102 fever which broke on Friday. My daughter and the baby came over Thursday morning when he tested positive because they tested negative and tried to steer clear. BUT they both tested positive today Sunday a week after the wedding. SIL's parents which were the groom's parents at the wedding also tested positive today. I tested negative yesterday but have a terrible headache (my symptom last time I had it) ... so testing again tomorrow. DH tested negative today. We'll see ... we held our granddaughter a lot over the last 4 days.

@MissMay - I live in the Florida Keys so it's almost always picnic weather!
Funny that I found Stella NA at the same time it popped up in this chat. I would absolutely get it again.
Tonight was interesting for me. I'm in Miami and on my own. This would usually be an occasion to enjoy some wine but instead I bought some Q Hibiscus Ginger Beer. Really liked the spicy/sweet mix. I am binging on the Crown rather than food and wine!
Goal: 15 AF days, no more than 2 drinks, only drink at events
AF: 12/2-8, 10 - 11
A: 12/1, 9

@Lilylady3k oh NO not again! The whole family? Ugh take care and feel better.5
-
@bover145 oh yes you are getting the nicer weather for a boat parade. I am up in the panhandle of Florida, raining heavy now and rain expected most if the week.
Good to know that Stella NA is in my home state. Would love to make it down to the keys. So far Orlando is the longest trip South we have traveled since moving here.
My accountability for December:
1-A
10-AF

Ate a lot of garbage today but kept my calories pretty much at my current goal anyway. Back on track tomorrow. Enjoyed a nice walk at Edith L Moore Nature Sanctuary, we had the place to ourselves. After, I got a good chunk of work done on my project. Screwed it up already but not in a critical way, I don't think. I'll re-evaluate in the morning and figure out what I'm going to do.
AF tonight. Rare for a Sunday, I usually drink while listening to DarkWave...dunno why I didn't, just didn't. In a way, I'd rather I had but there's no point now. Off to bed.

@joans1976 I'm sending healing vibes. You are taking it day by day and surely you will start to feel better soon.
This is my 12th day AF. Observations:
I look and feel better. Have lost 2 lbs. It should be more but we bought a bread machine and I am just having so much fun making (and eating) the warm bread that it has stymied any more weight loss. I have to limit myself to just one slice a day at this point.
I am FEELING more. I heard a children's choir singing the most beautiful Christmas hymn on the radio and I just had tears rolling down my cheeks. I find myself crying tears of gratitude during my morning meditation, or even just for no reason at all it seems. I think this is because when we drink to numb the bad going on in our lives, we also numb the good. Alcohol isn't choosy; it just numbs it all. Now I am aware of all this beauty around me. I am taking pleasure in things I was too hungover or numb or depressed to even notice. It's like in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy's world comes into color. I have more awareness of everything. I am definitely getting cravings, and they are very specific; champagne one day, a bloody Mary another time. But I "play the entire movie" as I said the other day, and it goes away. I am hoping the month I have committed to AF becomes longer, but I am not making any plans other than getting through the end of the year. One day at a time, as they say.

@joans1976 sorry to hear you’re in pain. I truly hope it subsides quickly. I did have to laugh at your “Netflix and Chill” comment. At first I thought “Dang girl, you’re Superwoman!”
@Lilylady3k i hope you and your family feel better soon!
@mfowler883 it seems counterintuitive to eat more to lose weight, doesn’t it? I struggle to get enough protein. Never seem to have problems with getting enough delicious bready carbs though!
Speaking of which, holy cow this 54 year old broad is PMSing so hard. The sugar (and therefore alcohol and bread) cravings are off the charts! 2 wines Friday (1 at each event I went to), 2 Saturday night and 3 yesterday! One was finishing up the Christmas decor, and 2 were “Happy Hour/ just because” at home watching TV. To top it off, my go to NA drink of club soda and cranberry was making me feel way too bloated and full, so I didn’t even enjoy that. Guys, it’s bad. I am having so much difficult reining it in this month. Oh and 3 more years of this *kitten*. My mom was 57 when she finally hit menopause. Ugh.5
