A new day, a new month, a new year---a host of clean slates to make a fresh start on a lingering plan. I have lots of good habits and behaviours in place and another that I'd like to make part of my life. This looks like a good time and place to make that change.
Growing and making these changes has worked best for me with the support and encouragement of others so I'm glad you are all here with me.
The name of the thread is "Women Ages 50+" but all women are welcome. We are a chatty bunch and welcome new input on the topics that are raised.

I choose a word for the year as a guide to help me grow. My word for 2022 was "continue" to remind me of all the good habits I've had in place and to urge me on when the going gets rough.
My word for 2023 will be "please" to remind me to be kind and do things that will please me and the others in my life, to remind me that politeness (saying "Please") will take me far in dealing with others, and to urge me make my environment as pleasing as possible (organizing and decluttering might fit in here).

45 minutes to midnight here.
Thank you Barbie for another year!
Just watched Mary Poppins. What a lot of longueurs!
Would like to go to bed, but will stay up for Big Ben. They always let off fireworks around here at midnight anyway.
Looking forward to a clean slate. Every day is a new day.
Edie has said she wants to come over as she is jealous of the other kids having one on one time with us. So she is coming tomorrow after lunch.

Looking forward to getting back on track with my walking, Zumba and tracking my eating.
Haven't done any of these things since my fall right before Thanksgiving.
Walking will be after this coming week when Ezie goes back to school.
Zumba will be first of Feb. I could go back a few weeks before that but want to give my body extra time to heal plus want to get the full month out of my fees. I may go back early, but will have to wait and see.
Need to reschedule the dentist appointments that I canceled(because I didn't want one the day before surgery) to fix the broken ones from my fall. Front two are still slightly tender but nothing like they were, thankfully.
Looking forward to some better sleep. Night before last was insomnia until about 3AM(and up at 6 for dr. appt.) then last night it was two asthma attacks. Slept on the couch because I didn't want to wake dh up with my coughing beings he had to be up at midnight to go to work and by that time, I was too tired and too comfy to go into the bed. Kind of getting used to sleeping in there now after two and a half weeks.
I am sure the neighbors will be setting off fireworks at midnight. Hoping that the storms will limit them to just a few at midnight and not for a few hours after and before.
Made pork chops in PF Changs sauce, chopped salad(from a kit), rice and fresh pineapple for dinner for MIL- DH will have that when he gets home. I think I will air fry a couple chicken sausage to go with the salad and pineapple for myself.
Happy New Years Ladies!

Barbie thank you for getting us off to a great stàrt!
I think my word for next year will be diligence. I need to apply myself with a firmer hand to make some progress. A few months back I was exercising six days a week and I'm down to about two. I need to kick it up a notch.

Barbie thank you for a new month.
Betsy, others have said what I would say. Very rude of the family members to try and bully you into doing something that they know you and your hubby were against.
Katla, hoping for the best possible outcome for your hubby.
Kelly, so sorry about Chappie.
Machka, your nose is healing very nicely! Loving the dry stream and having serious envy for your lovely garden! Hoping to get more done in mine this year.
Wishing you all, my dear MFP “sisters” a very happy and healthy 2023!
I will be starting the year off right by going for a walk with a friend. She is leaving for Mexico in a few days and will be there for two months. I will be hitting the gym at the Y very regularly. I have gained almost 20 pounds this year, it was a he11 of a shock when I realized that! Time to get my *kitten* in gear and get rid of it and some of its friends!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Thank you Barbie!
After a day of gardening and a bicycle ride, we spent last evening chatting to our neighbours up the road, then eating pizza and watching Princess Bride. From there we switched to TransSiberian Orchestra music, and I headed to bed shortly after the new year arrived.
So far I've spent the new year doing some of my favourite activities: colouring, reading, listening to music, sleeping, and drinking coffee.

🎉 Highlights of 2022 🎉
• I exercised 303 days of the year.
• We completed the longest bicycle ride since Rowan's accident and the fastest.
• I ran a 10K.
• I've had more sleep this year!
• Skin cancer spotted ... and dealt with.
• I found a new doctor and a great skin cancer surgeon.
• We've made progress on projects that have and will make garden care easier in the future and we've had the joy of seeing so many flowers and lots of fruit and veg.
• I've had 3 jobs this year! The tail end of one job, a 6-month term position and my new job. Big learning experience!! And these jobs have been an advancement upon the job I had at the beginning of the year.
• I had the opportunity to be on an interview panel for the very first time!
• We've started to build relationships and connections within the beekeeping community, and continue to do so within our cycling community and brain injury community.
• I have really enjoyed having about 3 weeks off work over this Christmas season. Granted, some of it was recovery from surgery, but it has been so nice to just rest.
• We've travelled to several areas in Tasmania.
• We were able to go to a couple plays in person.
• No university or other further education this year but lots of learning in new jobs, the garden and about bees.
• More reading for pleasure, rather than study.
• I've been reading the Bible every day.
And now to think ahead to 2023.
