I like to do some things for the calorie burn not because I like doing them or because kirby doesn’t want to do it or won’t. When we had a lawn, I liked cutting the grass, sh would Tim the edges and get the lawnmower out and get it ready for me. Same thing with pressure washing, he sets up the thing and I go at it and he puts it away. It’s all about the calorie burn for me
I'm with you, Pip. I don't like yard work because it triggers my allergies, but I have recently embraced the calorie burn. I am going to buy a manual powered "mower." Our front lawn is tiny and doesn't need anything more. I'm tired of paying for a service every other month when it really isn't needed. They won't come once a month.

Pip I’m like you, I mow the lawn and do household things for the calorie burn. I don’t look at jobs as gender driven. We are in the middle of renovating our kitchen. I did all of the painting which I will be continuing with today. I am also getting ready to do the tiling of our backsplash. Anything that keeps me active is my kind of job!

Paperback is live, but I'm not sure whether it can be ordered just yet. It takes them a while to get it organised.
The Kindle edition has a problem with the overrun of lines. It comes out of line. I don't think that happens with the Paperback as the pages are wider. But it may just be on my phone when I checked it. Every Kindle is different, and it also depends on the text size.
The US Amazon had the Kindle hours before the UK. I was agitating myself!
Patience is a virtue, my mother used to say.
Champagne tonight when Bea has gone. My son has been delayed on the trains from London, but shouldn't be too long.
Love to you all, Heather UK xxxxxx

Yes, my husband does the rubbish and mows the lawn. I have never mowed a lawn in my life. If he were not in my life any more I would hire someone to mow the lawn (I did that while he was in hospital) and I would be planning to move somewhere with no lawn.
My husbands have also done all the kitchen stuff. That's also the man's job!
Even Rhody gets concerned if I am doing something in the kitchen!

I actually really enjoy mowing the lawn. The one we have now is so small, usually just get the weed eater out instead of pulling the mower out, especially for the back yard. To Dh it is a chore, to me, it is relaxing. It is considered a man's job but I am a country girl and like stuff like that. Dh is a city boy and not into any yard work at all. I do most of it because I enjoy it.
Next chore out there for me is pruning all the rose bushes. That will take a few days to get them all done. Should start working on them this week while we get a little break from all the rain.
I even enjoyed mowing the one I had back in Mobile- that was a chore though. It was an electric mower, with a cord(no battery ones way back then) It took three or four long extension cords to do all of the the front . Not quite a much in the back. The mowing wasn't the big deal, it was running over fire ant hills on accident that was bigger deal.3 -
Thanks to the ones that have sent me friends requests on Facebook. I appreciate you all. You are able to hear the voice sound bytes of Athena that my son sends. Such a sing song tone. I had been missing my youngest the other night, and out of the blue my middle son sends me it. I cried hearing it of course.😜💖
Today is a mushroom, onion, zucchini, potato and chicken soup. Lots of happy chopping! Remember preparation is half the battle. I have learned to embrace all the chopping. I would rather chop, make my own, than buy some salty prepared box. I like to pile all the ingredients on my counter, and then get to prepping them.😁

Kylia--You may not of gotten done all you wanted, but sounds like you did get a lot done.
Barbie--Great news that all went well with Jake and he is good for another 10 years.
Tracey--Glad that your DH is there with his dad. Pray that all goes well and you and DD get there safe and in timely matter. Sounds like some of the doctors around here. I find a lot of the time you have to speak up, but if a person doesn't know about things it is hard. I am very vocal when it's about my family and I have worked in the hospital 35 + years. When my friend went to ER last year they were going to send her back to the home and I told that ER doctor he was going to admit her and do some tests, because if he sent her back and something happened I was sueing him and the hospital. He admited her and they found out she had food in her lungs and put in a feeding tube. I am her POA, that is why I was there. It is scary for those who don't know.
Amdaless--Important thing is not to give up and each day is a new beginning. Baby steps. Not sure I am doing this right. But just a little about my weight problems. The only time I was under weight is when I was born at 4 pounds. I remember growing up always being FAT. My dad used to say they had to buy my clothes and Lincoln tent and awing. Took me years to realize that was not funny. As an adult in my first marriage I was a stay at home mom and cooked and baked as DH would not eat store bought bread or any thing, so I gained even more weight. After my divorce I met my current husband and the first several years were tough as we delt with ex's and children and then lost our oldest and the baby I was carrying. I remember one time I was going to try and do the WW plan and shared with my mom. She said if it didn't work I could get a job as the Fat lady at the fair. My top weight was 402. I finally had the lap band done and lost 150 pounds. I have gained back some and am working to lose it and the rest of what I started out to lose , so have about 100 pounds. You ladies make me believe I can do it.First time I have tried using the spoiler so see if it works. If not sorry just skip over.

Heading out to walk the wetlands- first time down to the river in a few months.
Will only do the hour walk but will really enjoy it. Looking forward to seeing if the birds have returned. There were only few the other times I have gone there for super short walks in the rain.
Tonight will be making cashew chicken with a lot more veggies than the recipe calls for. Looking forward to it.

Well, went and got my blood drawn, should be able to get a gander at my test results by tomorrow evening, hopefully. I'll be talking to the doc on Thursday morning by phone.
Regarding mowing, Corey and I kinda slug it out for who gets to mow the area around the house. Mowing with that zero-turn beastie is so much fun. I'm so dang short, and my arms are short, that I honestly can't push it to it's fastest speed, much as I want to. Comes under the heading of "idiot-proofing," I suppose. It is seriously fun, absolutely no exercise whatsoever since I'm sitting down, but seeing a couple of acres look beautiful in just an hour is like magic. I do like instant gratification...
One of my chores for the winter is pulling that seat off and reupholstering it completely, it's in tatters.
Deb in VA, I remember you. How are you? Whatcha been up to? Inquiring minds want to know...
Rebecca, you are one of the sweetest natured human beings in the known world, and Athena looks like you. From all the pictures, she has your nature, as well.
Heather, poems do odd thing to margins in Kindle. Once the book is up and going completely, get one of your friends there to look at the pages, and get one of us here in the U.S. to do it. The "technical support," isn't much help on that note. If worst comes to worst, you can do a good screenshot and upload a recalcitrant one as an image, get the size exactly right, and it won't give you any more problems.
Not a good day out and about, but they can't all be. But... that's why I built that colitis kitbag that I carry every where, with an extra pair of sweatpants and underwear, and everything else I need, just in case. Today is the second time I've used them. It would be nice if it were the last. I have my doubts, but then, doubts are easier on my bent little psyche than hope.
Hope it's been a good day for everyone,
Much love,
Lisa in AR

Did a body pump DVD today. Went to the library so they could use the 3D Printer to make these battery holders for Vince for the Christmas decorations. This way the batteries are in this case and won’t short out. Then went for my walk, got dinner ready, meals for next week thought out.
Well, I’m decided that I’m no longer going to take Jerry home. I think I told you all a while ago that I refused to have opened containers of any sort in my car. I didn’t care if it was holy water, I wouldn’t have it. Well, up until now Jerry has been respectful of my feelings. As a matter of fact, one day he told me he threw away part of a beer so that he wouldn’t have an opened container in my car. I said “thank you for respecting my feelings”. Well, today he told me that when he got home he was going to finish the beer. To me, that means he started it, so I said (not accused) “Jerry, you don’t have an opened container in my car, do you?”. Well, he went off like you wouldn’t believe. Actually, when we got to his house, I thanked god. I don’t think he thinks I saw it, but I did see him giving me the finger. When I got home, I was, literally, shaking from his anger outburst. I WILL NOT put up with this. Tomorrow, I’ll just tell Angel that I won’t be taking Jerry home any more and why. Guess he’ll just have to wait until someone else can take him home. Not my problem.
Barbara – yes, I do that stretch. But I really can’t do it at work, that’s the only thing. But I do do it after I work out like doing spinning. Or really, any sort of cardio machine.
Kylia – your height/weight sounds a lot like mine. Only, when I was around 60, I weighed in the 120’s (sometimes even the teens). Now that I’m older by about 8 years, I’m finding that I’m in the 130’s (boo). I’m trying to get lower, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening. I, too, miss the days when a doctor would actually listen and not just give you stock, textbook answers. So many times you have to diagnose yourself.
Allie – I remember when the kids were teens (and you wonder why I have gray hair….lol) at times I would, literally, lock myself in the bathroom and read the book “Get Out Of My Life, but First Would You Drive Me and Cheryl to the Mall”. One thing the book pointed out, and it’s so true, “the more they pull away, the more they come back”. Might be a good book for Tracey to read.
Pip – I like mowing the lawn, I really do. For one thing, there’s that calorie burn. I get so many steps in! Another thing is that I like being sure things are in good condition. Like Debbie, to me it’s relaxing. I get to be with my own thoughts.
Rebecca – I’ve been prepping my own food so much lately, that I really cringe and can taste all the salt in all the prepared foods that I’d previously hadn’t tasted in. The only thing is that it’s weird, everyone else seems to not have a problem with the prepared foods. Same for anything deep fried. I haven’t had much fried food for so long that when I do have it now, my stomach says “I don’t think so” Then I usually get the “why don’t you eat the way you used to eat” from Jess and Vince. Then I wind up just telling them to leave me alone since I don’t comment on how they eat. I totally agree with Lisa. You ARE one of the sweetest people on the face of the earth
Deb (workoutaholic) – welcome back!
Vicki – I can’t believe your mother said that! What do you think she was thinking? That she was going to shame you? I’m so very sorry you lost your baby

Rebecca - I just went to send you a friend request on FB, and you'd already beat me to it!!!!
thanks,

Had such fun with Bea. What a gal! She was delighted her father was late as she got 'extra time'. Her huge imagination and acting ability are non-stop entertainment. I did refuse her a second helping of ice cream, because she was ordering me about and calling me an 'old lady'. Jokingly, but......
Earlier I was joking about needing new metal hips, so I know where she got the idea from! That walk to and from school is very hard on my hips. I had to sit on a wall on the way home.
Lisa - I've checked the Kindle app on my tablet and it's perfectly fine. So maybe it's just the phone pages, being too small. Haven't checked yet on my Paperwhite.
I'm knackered tonight. Amazing how emotional it all is.
I feel as if I've done something that's been sitting in my head for years.
Soooo looking forward to seeing the apartment on Saturday. The intercom doesn't work, so we will have to phone them from outside!
They are still using the rigged up Internet because it can't be done until Saturday! Fortunately, the crazy system works.
DH's daughter may come down 'for lunch' on Sunday. It doesn't work well for me as she can never stipulate a time and we usually lunch early. Plus it makes it difficult to book somewhere. Most places are full for Sunday lunch. I would cater, but that isn't really her thing. Kinda hoping it doesn't work out. I'm not good with 'loose' arrangements.
Freezing cold here this week. Lots of places have snow, but none for us.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Here are a few pictures from my walk. All of these show all the water in the places that, at most, had just inches of water the last time I walked two months ago. The second picture has been totally dry since late spring, today the swans were swimming in it.
Enjoyed the walk for the most part- back was not happy for the whole walk but pushed through it(I will take some Aleve before I walk next time-need to take some before my dentist appointment in the morning anyways)
A little over an hour walk and super close to hitting my 10,000 steps. first time since my little accident then surgery.
