MFriend mentioned the Book Quit The Power of Knowing When to Walk Away I put a hold on a library copy. I still think of the Kenny Rogars song...You gotta know when to hold em, know when to walk away , know when to run...
Went with friends to an Indian restaurant and then to a community theater production of Godspell in a local church. They did a fantastic job. Great music and some great singing voices. The last time I saw this was also in a church near where I grew up. I saw it in 1973. It was quite different than this one. It was revamped in 2012. The fun thing about the 1973 version is one of the main stars went on to do very well in T.V. His name is Scott Bakula who starred in the original Quantum Leap. He was the commander in one of the Star Trek spin offs. He now is a lead in NCIS New Orleans. He did continue with his singing to a point and sang with Barbara Streisand.
Listened to another Dog Summit discussion yesterday. She discussed the power of diaphragmatic breathing and how it supports our body. Using that type of breathing as a way to calm your system down. She also uses what is called block therapy to help release stuck portions of your body caused by trauma and gravity's effect on your body. I signed up for a two week trial course. I will let you know what I think. She also discussed the positive and negative effects we can have on each other by the kind of energy we give off. The state of the other person often has nothing to do with us yet sometimes we take their reaction personally and let their energy affect us negatively.7 -
(((hugs))) to those who need them.
Well, I hope you're right, Karen, and I hope he peeks at it more and more often that it comes through more clearly sooner than later. Of course you have faith in him. All mothers have faith in their children.
What a wonderful adventure, Tracey! I've been so hungry for fish and chips, no even moreso. I hope your "feelings" don't come true.
Debbie, I just don't know how you put up with it. I just don't. I have a hard time putting up with my brother and SIL and that's just from a distance. The oldest brother and SIL are wonderful, but the youngest is full of himself and so is his wife. They do as little as possible for our mom and take as much credit as they can.
Michele, my doctor told me that my sinus headaches were actually migraines that were undiagnosed for years. Figures.
18-Share about a recent book you read and what you learned... My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry, taking me forever to read, very... interesting, but jumps everywhere. Written by the same author as A Man Called Ove so I thought I'd love it, but it's a tough read. But truthfully, when I get through, I think I'll like it. Has feelings of "never grow up and never stop believing".

Our son is visiting and I am enjoying his visit. He will be heading to the airport for the flight home in the near future. In the meantime I plan to spend time with him.

Feb 18 Share about a recent book you read and what you learned. Just starting A Complaint Free World and have already learned 1-how much I complain both verbally and mentally, 2-how to use a physical action (moving something from pocket to pocket) to stop the complaint in its tracks.
Question to you gardeners: Can printed paper, like financial statements, be used as mulch/weed barrier? Without shredding? Joe fired up the burn barrel this morning and I’ve been feeding it old bank statements, tax returns, etc. Is there anything about the paper or ink that would contaminate the soil?
Terri prayers for progress at Monday’s appointment. You’ve been suffering for so very long.
Machka and Heather’s comments on quitting, thought-provoking. Have been fortunate that I loved my work. Also that Joe was willing to work on our relationship when I thought I was “done.” But oh, those things! I’m a holder-on-too-long-er when it comes to things. :no_way:
Tracey and Beth, yours to Kylia, perfect.
Ginny yours to Karen, also perfect.
Karen your granddaughter is wise beyond her years!
Allie could there be a low cost or sliding scale therapist for Carmine, Tracy and Kyle?
https://portal.ct.gov/DMHAS/Programs-and-Services/Finding-Services/Programs-and-Services Glad to hear Tracy and Kyle are going in to see a therapist Tuesday, but sure understand how hard it is when insurance doesn’t cover.
Rita con VERY grats on the a1C! I dreamt there was a Cleveland Diet meal plate in front of me. All meat and cheese, even though some was made to look like bread/potatoes/pasta/dessert. Appeared and smelled tempting but  couldn’t choke the first bite down  Reclaiming your name is powerful.
Margaret taking other’s reactions personally is a big downfall for me. When I catch myself I try to channel Barbie
Carla look forward to your book review

Machka... that is a stunning photo of your rose!
Debbie ... you are right that your MIL would most likely be kicked out of senior living settings if she became mean. There have been clauses in every contract that I've signed for my mom in regards to "community behavior." I wonder, though, if she would show others her poor side. There's lots of complaining/behavior that goes on with family that never goes on with "strangers."

She can be nice as long as everything is going the way she wants. When someone tells her no,first she says she doesn't understand them then she gets mad and mean. She is only nice when it benefits her.
That is why she no longer has any friends. The only one that is around, and she isn't around as much, thankfully, is the coworker of her other son. She is just there with her hand out. She would take MIL out shopping but expect MIL to not only pay for their lunch(and the lady eats a LOT and MIL eats very little) but also for her stuff when they are at the store. MIL started it by offering to pay and Sophia jumped on it and still continues to not pay for anything. She expects MIL to either cook a big meal if she comes over or MIL to pay if she picks up food(or, has dh pick up food for them).
MIL talks *kitten* about her as soon as she leaves and for the next week but won't tell her not to come over.
For some reason though, if Sophia says something,it has to be true, if dh says the same thing, he is lying to her. Very annoying

Hello ladies!
I got my taxes done, Yay! For some reason it was extra mysterious this year. For example, TurboTax asked me what was in box 16 and there was no box 16. I did my best so I just have to let it go.

Our son was here for a visit & it was wonderful seeing him. He is now headed to the airport for a flight home. We hope it is an easy trip home. 🤞🏻 ❤️ 👍🏻7

Today was a roast feast. I started at noon having some pickled cucumbers and beets. At 12:45 I had 2 bowls of roast, baby potatoes and carrots, sliced sweet onion and some shredded cabbage. I then drizzled some ketchup on it. Afterwards I had 2 cups of coffee and 4 oatmeal cookies. Closing my window at 4 pm. It was a good day.
Hugs everyone!

Good evening ladies!
I ate 1159, and walked a little extra, for a calorie deficit of 316. Yay! And I did thirty reps of my dumbbells. Yay! So it was a good day for me. Hope you all are doing well.

Our son came to visit us & we had a good time with him. He has gone home and is now at home with his wife and little boys. ❤️2

Karen-your granddaughter does indeed sound wise. I can't remember-is she your son't daughter?
Continued prayers for Destiny -she has been through so much. Her picture is a good one for me to keep in my mind when I get upset about my trivial woes. She has a look of serenity and determination.
Allie-I hope they all get the help they need. Carmine was identified as female at birth, correct? Do you think hormones? He has had any of the change therapy has he?
Annie-you are a rock star.
Got odds and ends done today. Have bedroom straightened out so it is ready for mattress delivery. Laundry washed and put away. Have a bit of ironing to do. Went for a nice walk-a little over 3 miles, so I have a total of 5.4 miles in.
My Epson Eco-Tank printer was acting up-all of the colors not printing. I haven't used it much for the last couple of months nor have I run the head cleaning program. Started on it today. I have a solution to use as a last result. In checking on line, people say you may have to run the cleaning numbers times. It is nearly back to normal. Turned it off every few cleanings so that it wouldn't overheat.
Had a very random thought regarding my sleep habits, since I woke up at 4 am yet again. We will soon spring forward so maybe I will sleep until 5!
On that note, I'm off to get ready for bed.
Take care all,

Annie ... I used TurboTax and got both my husband and my returns completed as well as my adult son's. Yay!! Son's has already been fired off to the IRS but I've set my husband an my returns aside to review again in a few days. I always like to double check them. And, yes, TurboTax had some mysterious questions this year. A lot of checking back to old returns and having to go to the actual forms they use to verify and fill in missing information. I spent a good portion of the day working on the cost-basis of stocks we sold from a DRIP (Dividend Reinvestment Plan). Very satisfying to finally figure it all out!

Heather and Machka - very thought provoking. I tend to stick things out way longer than I should or what is healthy for me.
On the other hand I was done with our marriage and am so grateful I stuck it out.
I guess it wasn’t the marriage, DH had changed and I was quite unhappy for a long time. I’m also grateful he is himself again.
Katla - I’m glad you had a visit with your son
I took Michaela to ceramics today. I was making up for a missed class and she had her gift certificate that we gave her for Christmas. She spent all but 1.20 of it and is already planning her next project.
These are her pieces, I am not finished mine. It’s one I started before Christmas.

May all the taxes go smoothly and all the printers work well!

Ginny- yes Taliah was born a girl and decided in 7-8th grade that being a boy was better,i dont know if they had a class or an assembly on it but it seems a whole bunch of the girls decided to become boys so,I dont know if its for attention, or what.. but Carmine has been mean and horrible to anyone for the last few years..ans only getting worse..
Tracy and Kyle want Taliah back and not this mean nasty foul mouthed teeneager that doesn't care about himself or anyone else.
So here is hoping that they can at least get him on some type of anti depressant or something poor kid..4 -

Barbara,
We use printed paper, shredded, as mulch.
We use printed cardboard, like boxes that food comes in (box of granola bars, things like that), as mulch or weed barrier.
Basically, nothing "paper" goes into our rubbish, it all goes onto the garden.
Regarding quitting, I find I have to do a little "cost analysis" on whether it is better to stick with it or better to quit.
In the accounting world, cost analyses are often entirely financial, but I can include things like well-being in my cost analysis.
Quit a few years ago, I was taking a Software Development course in the evenings, one course per semester. The whole thing would take me 4 years and I would end up with a diploma. It was going fairly well but as I proceeded through it, I heard more and more about the final course. It was an intense 2-semester course. Instructors were starting to recommend that we make arrangements with our employers to go to part-time, especially during the second half of that particular course. One recommended that we have a sit-down talk with our families to let them know that we'll be heavily involved in this course and that it will take up a lot of time. There were recommendations that we put our hobbies on hold prior to getting into the course.
The penultimate course, was also very heavy, but not as heavy as that final course would be. I was struggling to manage work, cycling and that penultimate course, and starting to dread the final course. But I had an "out". I could end the program with the penultimate course and graduate with a certificate. So I did my analysis and decided that other things in my life were more important than struggling through that final course to get a diploma rather than a certificate. I pulled the plug and graduated with a certificate. No regrets!
However, on the other hand, I stuck with my Master's in IT and graduated in December 2020. There were several time I was sorely tempted to drop it but I am very glad I saw it through.
