Hi Gals,
Everyone with Covid or with loved ones with covid, sending good thoughts and a virtual hug. For those dealing with Paxolovid (spelling?) awful flavor, I found that Good Earth original tea – which is decafe, with a strong cinnamon orange flavor broke through the awful flavor so I drank a ton of it for the time I was taking Paxolovid…
Katla – is there someone on staff at the complex you and DH are at that might be able to help you get this fixed. I know how frustrating this can be, but for the younger generation they seem to just look at it and see the answer.
M – You certainly put your evil co-worker in her place by just letting her dig her own hole! Congrats on the upcoming break! I was really hoping that your news was that you would be able to leave Tasmania and get to see your family.
Annie – congrats
Lunges - I have trouble with them, but can do Warrior or Warrior 2 yoga pose and that stretches some of the same muscles for me without the intensity of a lunge.
Pip – I am in awe everyday when I see how much you have done, and the way you have worked with the pups to make it all work.
Belinda – with your body doing crazy things with the scale, just put it away for a week or two… It is just a number after all. And this is not about perfection or following a particular way, or comparing yourself to someone else. It is about finding a way to make decisions that help your physical and mental health. And at the times that you make a decision that doesn’t support that – its ok just try to do better for the next decision. And each little bit helps 1 minute more activity than the day before is a win! And shaving 10-20 calories off is a win… Sure it’s a slow way but it will work! And it is frustrating to not have answers (Lisa and Kylia have been dealing with is recently) but what you are getting is baseline testing and a list of what it is not- which is part of the figuring out what it might be.
Carla – Happy Birthday (or Belated Birthday)

Hey Ladies!
Thanks for all the welcome backs! The last year or two were just a little rocky and full for me. I don’t know that I can tell it all in one setting so I’ll just try to tell you some standout things little by little.
My Fitness Pal gave me an award today for being on here so long nobody can remember how long I’ve been on here. I can only say it’s been a long time indeed! Anyway, last year I went for a physical; beforehand I made a list of everything I could think of that was wrong with me. Of course one of those things was losing weight. This is my conversation with the doctor.
Me: I have been trying to lose weight for years; I’m eating under 1300 calories per day; going to the gym; and walking the dog too. I’ve only loss 10 pounds in the last year.
Doc: And you are not going to lose any either.
Me: Feeling Outdone! Why is that?
Doc: Because you are old!
Me: Excuse me?!
Doc: Laughed! You are post menopause; your hormones are all over the place; your body’s systems are off center. I’m going to give you a little help.
I love my doctor she is probably 10-15 years younger than I am and always makes me feel good.
So she put me on Wegovy (once a week shot) and later I had to change to Saxendra (daily shot). So, Since May I’ve lost 40 pounds. I have 30 more pounds to lose.
My insurance plan included a subscription to Noom which has been great because it gives you some mental health type lessons. However, I could never use Noom as a replacement to the warmth of My Fitness Pal and you ladies.
Allie: I love the hair too! I dyed my hair last year too! I decided that I didn’t need to look 64 once I started losing weight. I am now a medium brown with honey blond highlights and went back to my dreadlocks. Sorry Allie, but I just have to say this in my best gentle southern woman voice… “I’ve been wanting to kick Tom for years….bless his heart.”
Barbie: So sorry to hear of your losses! That is so hard to lose your babies. After my beloved Doberman died I could only make it a couple of months before I brought a wonderfully spoiled Weimariner puppy home. He gives us a run for our money!
Lanette: Indeed my mother did have a miniature schnauzer. He passed away on Christmas Morning. He had a number of illnesses. My mother had a stroke at the beginning of 2021 and was diagnosed with cancer the early part of 2022. She did radiation and chemo and rang her bell a couple of months ago. I think Buddy hung in there with her until she rang that bell and then felt it was ok to cross the rainbow bridge and let go.
Rebecca: Your weight loss body donation story had me cracking up!
I’m ending for now…..Talk to y’all tomorrow….Have a great day!

Day 1 of my annual leave -
We went to a honey place and my husband picked up some equipment for the hives.
I got some honey: creamed leatherwood and fennel. Yum yum!
And we got some bee-related jewellery.
Then we went to a tip shop and I got several CDs which I'll rip and a Phantom of the Opera DVD.
Home again and I had a gorgeous walk to the beach. The day hit about 30C (86F) so the beach was wonderful. Stopped by a newsagency on the way back and spotted a bee picture which I had to have.
Laundry, colouring, reading, relaxing and lots of sleep.
Day 2 - today is hot but overcast. I've hung some of my laundry outside but I will have to keep an eye on it and rush it back in if it starts to rain.
Mostly, so far, I've been relaxing and listening to Vivaldi.
At some point I'll need to go through my emails. About 135 arrived in my home Inbox about 5 days. That's pretty normal for me, but I usually keep up with it so that there are only about 30 emails in my Inbox that have not been dealt with.
Now for the garden ... while it is still not raining.
And I'll tell you more about the secondment next week. That's the most exciting part!!

I stepped on a friend’s bathroom scale this evening. I’m not happy with myself. Next shopping trip I plan to buy a bathroom scale for myself.
Meanwhile, I stepped into the fitness room here. I spent a good amount of time on a NuStep. I plan to visit the fitness room regularly.

Kim- that is one of my favorite teas. I drink a lot of that all year long in the afternoon/evenings. No caffeine. I have a friend who was drinking WAY too much Fireball. She tried this tea and now drinks that instead of the whiskey most of the time. Sent some for my former hubby- he is hooked on it too.
Love that I can get 4boxes for just $8 at Grocery Outlet. So much cheaper than Amazon.1 -
Happy Birthday Carla!
Congratulations Annie on loss!
Katla- tonight one of the programs I use often disappeared from my laptop. I just shut it down and restarted computer. The program reappeared ¡ I hope you get your issue fixed.
Rest day at home. I did some online training, watched some TV, dusted the living room and dining room, wiped down kitchen, scrubbed 2 bathrooms, and washed bath mats. Productive at a slow pace. Back to work tomorrow.
Healing thoughts!
Encouragements!
Congratulations!

Though I did have the best intentions, the thought of having to lose weight to qualify in something after I have passed seemed ludicrous!😂😂

Picture from my home town. This is Lake Sonoma- very rare to get any snow. Sister lives near there and said she couldn't get out her drive to go to work(I think she could have if she really wanted to but a good reason to not go to work but also, no idea how much ice was under the inches of snow.
Second picture is on the way to mom's that I take.
Just north of Calistoga
Still feeling sick so going to bed.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Feb 24 Reflect on steps you have taken to achieve past goals. Started small with PT, kept at it, gradually increased weight, reps, time. Allows me to dance and walk the dogs down the drive to the powerline.
Feb 23 Encourage your teammate to utilize their unique strengths. Joe’s kind heart toward animals, thoughtful reading, height and strength.
Snow days! Joe went out to brush the snow off from the hummingbird feeders as the littlest ones couldn’t get to the nectar. While he was out there, he made and threw snowballs for Shadow. The snow gives Tumble great joy, Shadow not so much but snowballs make up for much. Forecast is for snow to continue all day, sometimes as fast as 2 inches/hour. Joe says it looks like Idaho. More like Tahoe to me… Power blipped a few times this morning then out for awhile. Just after I brought in a few gallons of flushing water and Joe fired up the wood stove, power came back on. Taking advantage of internet time while it lasts Whoops, there it went again! Wanted to post a short clip of Joe and the pups playing in the snow but the frequent outages have played heck with our internet. Internet was down from noon Thursday til around 6pm Friday so lotsa catching up to do. Hope this works: https://youtube.com/shorts/FCZXqGKHq9A?feature=share
And this is what yesterday’s crocus looked like today
Heather happy tulips coincidence. Great minds you and your friends have.
Carla a very happy pre-birthday to you and thanks for the heads up. Think I’ll wait on the book, avoiding darkish stories for now.
Katla hope Machka, Carol’s, Mary’s, Rita’s, Karen’s or Okie’s tips help you get back into your @katla49 id. @myvt9v4crh is just too hard for me to remember If all else fails can you uninstall the mfp app from your phone? Is it an iphone or an Android?
Kylia the nurse was right, you do NOT look your age.
Lisa good for you. Seems like the “and then what” gets left out of a lot of conversations with caregivers, almost as if, if we knew what the recovery (or next step) was, we’d balk at the procedure.
Machka congratulations on accomplishing your project goals, your forthcoming leave and department changes. Look forward to learning more.
Well done Annie!
Barbie was very glad to hear that Bessie walked with you, even just a little. Have been sad for you since your comment to Tere about how you were walking alone since losing your poodle.
Carol so sorry to hear about your tooth. Hope it’s not painful and the remaining teeth don’t shift around.
Belinda writing your symptoms and struggles down will help, as will logging and starting to walk. Baby steps. When you can, post pics of your Corgis to make us all smile. ((hugs))
@Rosemarie2972 Rosemarie in GA, miss you and hope all’s as well as it can be with you and yours.

Well its afternoon here now. Hello everyone!
Annie/ How do you get yourself into a routine to exercise?
Seems like I just can’t get myself to do anything. Even keeping up with some housekeeping seems overwhelming. The storms have made my neuropathy go crazy. Also congrats on a great loss!
Michele/ I know what the spasms your husband is having feels like. I’ve been getting them in my legs. You can see my whole muscles moving, it looks like an alien is inside of me. I hope he is getting some relief.
Tina/ I have a touch faucet. On our control box, you can adjust the water mixture to the temperature you want for when it comes on. Maybe yours has that too?
Lisa/ Hope you start feeling better, the big C sucks. I had it the first time before they even reported it being a thing here in the US. I went in for a flu test, they said that I had the flu but nothing like they had seen before on test results. Keep your healthcare provider in the loop, sometimes there care can be lingering side effects.
Sorry to seem like such a downer. I’m just stuck. My body is fighting me tooth and nail. In the last few days my weight has fluctuated up and down 10+ pounds overnight repeatedly, it’s draining. I wasn’t even able to go back home to WI, for my mother’s surgery. My husband’s schedule wouldn’t allow him to go along. ( He works for a mining/drilling company) His backup lead quit. So, I was afraid to travel alone just yet.
They just got done doing 3 MRI’s blood work, and EMG and I’ve had a lumbar puncture. They still can’t find a reason for the paralysis I had or the neuropathy it left me with. My neurologist just handed me off to a PA because he couldn’t find anything and wouldn’t discuss the possibility of it being covid or vaccine related. So, they prescribed me the same muscle relaxers, pain med and gabapentin that I’ve been taking for the last 2.5 years. So much for $3000+ dollars of wasted money.
Please forgive the whining. Maybe writing it down and being able to tell someone will get me into a better place. I started logging in again today and with the inspiration of your chats I’ll walk on the treadmill a bit and do my remote PT. The Corgis love to bark at the treadmill and can’t understand why we aren’t taking a walk outside drives me crazy. Sorry pups, two feet of snow is not my jam
Belinda
BFE, Nevada
You aren’t whining.
Belinda, is your doctor aware of the fasciculations in your legs? Has he/she ever seen your “spasms” while they are happening? If not, try to get a video next time and show your doctor what is happening.

Morning all-Just looked up at notifications and evidently I earned a 7th year anniversary badge. Guess maybe that's right.
Lisa-sorry to hear you and Corey most likely have Covid. Hope it doesn't kick in your other issues. And I hope Corey rests some with it. My local Health Commissioner (I work with him often) urged me to rest. He said the people he has seen who have the worst or longer term problems are those who try to power through Covid. The rest part is tough for me!
Paxlovid-yes it does have that metal taste but I find it manageable-I have been drinking a variety of teas. I have had other medical treatments (like Iodine radiation therapy) that impact taste, etc., that was worse.
Those of you suffering with weather-hope you make it through ok. I know in some of the areas you are just not used to it. Don't think you have to master snow and ice driving overnight-stay in and stay safe!
Planning on spending today sorting through some papers that need sorting (and truthfully shredding!). That's low key but productive. Also want to start disinfecting flat surfaces, etc. Again, slowly.
Time to fix some breakfast.

Morning, afternoon and/or evening, y'all,
Machka - Look forward to finding out about a secondment that makes you this happy!
Carla - Happy birthday!
Belinda - As Karen says, you're not whining. Writing here what you're going through helps us get to know you, and helps you put your thoughts together in black and white. As Kim said, you don't have to exercise for an hour a day, you can simply exercise for a minute, or five minutes. Tomorrow, you can add one more minute to that. Many of us who have struggled with weight have an "all or nothing" mentality. We feel we've failed if we can't do it all or do it exactly right. So we work out too hard, injure ourselves, and stop working out completely. Or we go over our daily calories by 100 (or 10), so we tell ourselves we've "broken" our diet, so we might as well eat everything in sight. Realizing that we tend to that kind of thinking allows us to forgive ourselves, go right back to what we're working on, and stop or at least diminish the self-sabotage.
Regarding the neuropathy, etc., as Kim said, it took two years and a colonoscopy for the docs to figure out that I have ulcerative colitis and get me on medication that helped me somewhat. Keep fighting for yourself! No one else knows your body like you do, although doctors believe they do. Regarding the symptoms, I've found that dehydration underlies a lot of my non-gut-based symptoms. I also have a-fib, and have to take a diuretic each day, so I start out behind the eight ball on hydration. I drink water as much as I can all day long, and it helps with muscle issues.
I've got one sick man on my hands, and if I can, I'm going to keep him in bed and resting the next couple days. Thank you all for the sympathy for me, but I'm not having symptoms. Last January, he tested positive for covid, and so did I. He had all the symptoms, and I didn't have any. I don't have any symptoms now either, and we were both exposed to the possible carriers (our grandkids) at the same time. He, on the other hand, has them all. Headache, coughing, feeling awful. Fortunately, while I suck at being a caretaker, he sucks at being taken care of. Match made in heaven! I did have five large bottles of various juices he likes delivered yesterday, and will ferry whatever he needs into the bedroom, but I predict that will be over by noon, he can't stand it for much longer.
Luckily, there's nothing that needs doing this weekend that can't wait until next weekend. Oh! My first daffodil of the year popped up on Thursday, gives me hope that spring will be here before too long.
Later, my peeps!
Love,
Lisa in AR
