6. Spend time outdoors- while walking barefoot and watering plants this morning, I enjoyed the warm grass, sound of the woodpecker, and the music of other birds. This evening sat at the neighbor's picnic table admiring her gardens.
While sorting papers this morning, I watched a hummingbird rest and feed for over 5 mins! It was amazing! Then it opened its mouth wide as a second dive bombed him and off they flew. Before leaving for work, one was back at the feeder.
Debbie I love all your chocolates!
Vickie I hope you get your help soon.
Ginny I seriously don't expect changes at work in my lifetime....seriously. It took 20 years to get a computer system! It would be fabulous, but not expected.
drkatiebug I am really easy to track. I figure my identity has been stolen once already so no reason to stress over it. I do take the obvious precautions and check sights often. I understand some situations where anonymity can be important though. So like you see both sides.
We finally got some rain tonight. Yay!
Welcomes!
Hugs!
Happiness!
Time to leave my frustrations in the living room and get some sleep.

We can learn your name in time. We respect your privacy. The reason I like to see a location is to be able to identify with weather and plants. I live pretty far north so when someone shares that they already have flowers or vegetables, I like to know how far south they are. When someone says that it's too hot to take a walk, I wonder where they live. I hope you'll share what you're comfortable with and ignore the rest.

I answer to Katiebug in only three places. Here, my living debt free message board, and to a few cousins who just won’t let it go. I try to stay unsearchable by my name on this board since I don’t share my weight loss struggles with many people, but anybody with minimal skills could find me. If they want to go to that much trouble, I wish them well. Because of the nature of my work, anyone with my real name can find my cell phone number and my email address with a few clicks. It is what it is. I have to be reachable by the people who need me.
I love your name, it is close to my very favorite nickname for my son. Jonabug. Still call him that and he is 25

I slept well last night.
Today is the day I get my 'arm off'. At least, I hope so.
It's over 5 weeks since my accident, so I hope it's healed enough.
I still haven't decided whether to get the bus, or a taxi. DH hasn't offered, which I'm finding a bit annoying, but that's him. He is so independent, he can't imagine anyone not being.
The bus takes ages, and the taxi is quick. I will get a bus back and maybe stop off for some new knickers on the way home. The laundry on the cruise always wraps your clean knickers and socks in a pretty tissue parcel and puts a sticker on it. So ratty old knickers are a bit embarrassing!!!
I'm hoping yesterday's cramps were a passing thing, but last time I had them, 19 years ago, it went on for months. I'm wondering whether I stretched too far in my yoga exercises.
Love you all. I hope to post a pic of my cast-less arm!

Cramps can be from ...
Dehydration ... not enough water.
Low magnesium.
Doing more exercise than usual.
Would one of those apply?
When was the last time you had a complete physical?

Well, the rain wasn't much....a few spots in the beds were wet, but otherwise still had to water. But I am sure the grass is a little happier for even the small amount! Work papers organized, plants watered, linens changed, and laundry sorted. Great start to day.
May your day be full of healthy lifestyle decisions today. If you slip, that is all it is, just get back up, brush off, and learn from the moment!
Love and hugs to all!

Cast is off!!!
I have a support that I should wear for the next 5 days, while taking it off for the exercises I have in my booklet.
I am currently in M&S having a pot of Earl Grey tea and my favourite egg sandwich.
Now to look for knickers.

WOOHOO Heather! So happy for you!
Heading into the last HUMPday. Wish me luck. Don't know if I've mentioned that I've had Hunter with me since Friday since his district ended and their childcare had a week off. Today is his last day. He's had a ball. 8-year-old in a middle school, hanging with a buncha BIG kids and doing some of their "things" on the last week of school. All of my hall-mates have been so wonderful. They've brought him into their classes when they have fun stuff going on. He's watch movies, shot off "bottle rockets", played outside with spanish class, even helped the custodian clean the halls!!! And he gets to eat lunch in the staff lunchroom. LOL. Certainly hasn't had time to be bored!

I wrote this as a response to one of the comments I read in Grow With Care today. It was quite the discussion about the use of pesticides and herbicides on lawns. I thought it important enough to repost it. When I taught I did an activity where I had the students mash up an oreo cookie in a bag to pretend it was soil. Then I gave them a gummy worm to put in their pretend soil. Next I took sprinkles and said we are going to pretend these are the chemicals we put on the yard to kill the weeds and grubs. Now pretend you are a bird who eats the worm. The sprinkles stick to the gummy worm. How are you as a bird going to get those chemicals off that will make you sick? They can't!!! We are the ones who need to protect the birds when they cannot. Do not use chemicals in the first place! I realize it was a sugary snack. The lesson I believe made it worth the sugar. I think about that activity, and it changed my habits for the better. One reason I eat organic fruits and veggies when I can. Still not perfect because of all the chemicals in our environment but they do contain less than non organic.7

Mango cake with mango flavored sweet ricotta filling
desserts went well at the auction- my four things alone brought in $600.
$3600 total. All the money goes to help pay for church camp.
This year they did not only desserts but also food so they had lumpia, picadillo, macaroni salad, spam fried rice and a few other food items.

Since I am older and wiser, I have come to love and appreciate the nickname. When I was a child I did not realize that adding bug to your name was pretty common as a sign of affection. All I knew was that my sister was “Vickie Doll” and I was “Katie Bug” i hated that my sister got to be a doll while I was a bug. Interestingly enough, in my father’s last months, he started calling me Katiebug again. He had not done so since I was a child. It was comforting.

Annie, I’m so sorry about your aunt. I hope the arrangements work out so that your father can go and your mother can be looked after.
Beth, prayers for your knees. I actually broke down and had mine evaluated yesterday. I was told that I will eventually need knee replacement, but we’re going to try shots first. I got cortisone shots in both yesterday, and the doctor is going to check with my insurance to see if it will pay for the rooster shots. He said they could be very helpful but he would not recommend paying out of pocket. I’m going back in a month. Meanwhile I continue with cutting back sugar and carbs and doing my calf raises and squats.
Katla, I’m so glad your new glasses are working out.
Re cleaning for the cleaner. As you all know, I love Dana K White. In her books and podcasts, she talks about the layers of a clean house. The first is decluttering until you have your house under control with a place for everything so that you can manage keeping it that way. Second is the dailies - dishes, laundry, quick pick-ups to put things away where they belong. Third is the actual cleaning - dusting, mopping, scrubbing toilets, etc. In my opinion. The only thing you should expect from a housecleaner is the 3rd one, especially if she is only coming a couple of times a month, or even weekly. My housecleaner comes every two weeks. Surfaces are clear of clutter and we pick up the throw rugs, wash or shake them and have them ready to go back down. We also scoop the litter box and empty our own trash. We take care of changing our own bedding, since we like that done weekly. As we get older and that gets harder, we will probably add it to her tasks.
