Exercise
Cycling outside! 10C with a feels like temp of 3C.
Lettuce and other produce
The news tells us that it has been hard to get the usual variety of produce we were able to find in stores a few years ago. Evidently this area has had a shortage of potatoes and lettuce, but we weren't aware of it because we grow our own.
Hobbies
I just purchased a whole bunch more pens for my colouring on Friday. I got mostly blues and greens because I go through those ones quickly.
Happy Birthday Allie
Happy Canada Day!!

From the online Carer's magazine I get ... might be helpful to some ...
https://www.carergateway.gov.au/
If you're caring for someone, whatever the conditions are, be sure to contact your local carer organisations. You'll find them by doing a Google search.
Also look for your local organisations who specialise in the difficulty that the person you are caring for is going through. For example, I'm a member of the local Brain Injury Association and I follow the local Dementia and Stroke organisations because their advice is similar/related.

Good morning from the lake and from this little guy...6 -
Thank you, Barbie.
Happy birthday, Allie! Glad someone's celebrating you and that you are at a place you love, and able to take Alfie.
Flea - the boys look blissful. Looks like a really nice vacation for you all.
Rori - It was good to see your post. Once upon a time when my first husband was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, my office computers were shut down four or five times a week in late June, July and early August, as the thunderstorms popped up nearly every afternoon. Love storms, and it was always a nice break.
Heather - Looking forward to the pics once you get back to a reliable Internet connection!
Love all the pics - and welcome to those who are new! As Machka said, you've joined just by posting. We're glad you're here.
I'm in the usual Saturday morning quiet time while I let my DH sleep if he can. Long, hot week just gone by, and of course, he works in a massive metal shop building. The only A/C is in his office, and on the busy days, he barely gets any time to stay in there. He took himself to bed at 8:30 last night, he was so tired.
I'm pleased, as I held on to my maintenance weight this month, and am hovering between 145 and 150 (65/68 kg). At 5'2" (157cm) tall or thereabouts, I'm overweight by the BMI standards, but it's where I feel best. Got out yesterday morning when it was near 85 degrees, and worked using the walk-behind mower for a little over a half hour in the front. Was wringing wet with sweat when I got back in the house, and realized that would be because it had shot up to 95 degrees in a half hour. We're supposed to get a bit of a thunder boomer today, early afternoon, and keep the heat down a bit.
Hope it's a peaceful and serene weekend to all.
Cheers,

Happy July! I woke up this morning to see a hummingbird at the feeder on my window. It is raining here in Illinois and the rain is welcome after a dry spell. This is an area of farms and the corn field across the road is growing, and happy for a drink.

Tracey, Yes, my friend who is buying our Subaru is going to drive us to the car dealer in Seattle to buy the car, I just worked myself into a tizzy overnight because one of her emails said that we could borrow the Subaru back for a few days after she paid for it until we got a new car and I thought she was backing out on the commitment to drive us. That is one example of "my problems are mostly of my own making". In the morning Jake reassured me that the deal with her was contingent on her driving us to Seattle and then when I drove her to the eye doctor in the afternoon, she said the same thing. I work myself up and then suffer and emotional hangover the next day.
Barbara We probably won't get a red car because they are more expensive to buy new and fewer are available used so we'll end up with white, silver, gray, or black which will be fine.
Yardwork, meditation, reading, and TV are some of my treatments for emotional hangover.
Barbie in NW WA5 -
Barbie ... thank you for the new month! I'm hoping a red car is available and affordable for you!
Machka ... good reminders for care givers and anyone who is beginning to age. The non-skid bath mat has been an issue at my mom's assisted living facility. The shower pan is of poor design and nothing I purchased was able to grip (which I have discussed with the facility). Ended up buying water shoes with rubber treads and that seems to be helping. After suffering 2 major falls/breaks in a year, she is terrified of falling again will do anything to stay safe.
Not particularly confident in my scale, but I think I lost 2 pounds in June (or at least have stopped the upward creep). In July, I hope to extend my fasting to 21 hours per day with only a 3 hour window for eating ... 4:00-7:00. Since retiring from a physically demanding job, I discovered this week that I don't have the stamina I once did. Hope to remedy that by more intentional and consistent activity in July.

Barbie ~ Thanks for a new month. I am sorry you are feeling agitated over selling/buying your new car. When it happens, I wish you a safe trip.
Photos ~ Thanks to all of you for sharing! They make my day.
The granddogs went home late yesterday afternoon When my son came, they were so so excited to see him. I vaccumed the back of the house this AM and collected quite a bit of fur. Will start on the front of the house tomorrow and hopefully mop the wood floors.

We are in Geiranger Fjord.
No words can do justice to this amazing place. I woke up at 6.0. this morning and found DH had disappeared. He was out on the balcony. I stepped out there into full sunshine and the most amazing walls of green, waterfalls,.and smooth, reflective water.
Geiranger is 100 kms from the coast as the fjord winds its way inland. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site.
I took a video, which I can't post here, from our cabin front window.
Here are a few pics this morning.
Then we went out on a coach trip up to some vantage points .
We also visited a reflective lake.
This afternoon we wandered around the village and I bought some locally made chocolates. Filled with Norwegian brown cheese. 😍 I did taste one first! DH then climbed another mountain !!!!!!
It's sailing back down the fjord in an hour.
Magnificent day. I will never forget walking out onto that balcony.

Good morning, ladies.
Barbie thank you for the new July thread.
Happy Canada Day!
On the subject of lettuce, had our first salad from my garden yesterday. So nice to have fresh lettuce. Tired of buying the expensive heads in the store and throwing out about half. Lettuce I picked was a buttercrunch variety and so tasty.
Had a nice rain early this morning so it is finally cooling down abit after a few very hot days. Going out to the garden this morning and will plant a bit more lettuce. Have a mesclun mix that should come up quickly now that we have a bit of moisture.
Been enjoying reading the posts and seeing the pics on this thread.

This month will be minimizing snacking past 6 pm. After my hectic yet enjoyable June, its nice to relax a bit. My left foot still is giving me trouble from hurting it on June 16th. I will go in to doc and see if its healed ok, or what's going on. I am still limping around and there's parts of it that are still so sore.
Bought some broccoli today and have a small steak I will wok with onion, a 1/2 of a potato, and 1/2 of the broccoli bundle. The other half I want to steam and mix with pasta, and some cheesy sauce. I've got a taco night planned, and we bought a pan of lasagna so having a square of that one day. I have bananas and will slice those on a Kodiak fluffy waffle. I will have an over easy egg and bacon too. One of my days is labeled "breakfast extravaganza".
I might start counting my calories for my meals to see if I am on target.
Bought myself some new slippers. They're the kind you can throw in the washing machine. I am walking on a cloud.
I bought stamps at the post office today. I bought two sheets and a roll and it put us back $80 bucks! My pen pal hobby is expensive! But it makes me happy.
Hugs to you ladies!

Good Morning All,
I am new to this discussion group and to the MFP App. I am 65 yrs old and overweight! I live in Tampa, FL where the humidity is off the charts right now. Last year I lost over 20 lbs and I was feeling great. I was walking 2 ro 3 Liles a day and for me that's quite an accomplishment since I have Fibromyalgia and back issues BUT LIFE HAPPENED and my husband had one hospital event after another and slowly the weight I lost started packing back on my body and plus an extra 5 lbs. I stopped walking amd stopped tracking and was eating badly thru the stress. I know these events should not be an excuse but this is my story. I say all this because I really need the support. Today is my day #1 to my healthy journey. Happy 4th of July to each of you ❤️14 -
I forgot to mention that last night I tried jogging in place as a prelude to maybe running. I got about two steps before it was obvious that my new bra was sadly inadequate. It did wash pretty well, but apparently the all purpose bra has not yet been invented. Hmm. We can send a man to the moon but ...

Welcome Cathy in Tampa!
Congrats on losing twenty pounds previously. Sounds like you know what works for you so you are ahead of the learning curve. Sorry to hear your husband had medical issues, hope that settled down.
I think I missed a few other new ladies, welcome everyone!
I'm not doing much today, just dyeing my hair this afternoon. But I am in the middle of a sister challenge. My sister is visiting July 24, and I want to lose a bit before then.

Happy July 1st! I had a visit from a hummingbird first thing this morning—an excellent start for the day. ❤️

Allie Happy Birthday to you :flowerforyou: Love the smiles!!!
Listened to a discussion between two life coaches, a vet, and a woman who teaches block therapy to learn more about message techniques for dogs. It was more of a taste to get you interested in taking their block course and dog massage course.
My take aways that were helpful. One key to health is how you breathe. Diaphragmatic breathing is a key to help you calm down. You breathe deeply so your stomach expands as you breathe out you should feel the muscles in your stomach contract. In block therapy you use a rolled up towel or wooden block and lay on it and concentrate on proper breath. If you feel any pain you breathe through your pain. Where she lost me was when she talked about those who would actually seek pain points to breathe through. I did try this out after hearing her in a different discussion group. She also does not have a pet due to allergies and so she has teamed up with a vet to adopt her ideas to pets.
Where I agree is again the importance of breathing properly with good posture. When I work with DrewB it is important I am in a calm state of mind before I touch her because dogs are sponges for our emotions and they will absorb the positives and the negatives.
I tried to demo this breathing to a friend I had over for lunch yesterday. She gained quite a bit of weight this winter especially in the stomach. She could not feel her breath. She is so used to chest breathing due to stress this type of breathing was foreign to her. I told her this is part of why she gained her weight in her stomach.
Those of you going through stressful situations. Check in with your breath. Are you breathing from your chest or a deeper breath through the stomach? See if learning to breathe through the stress with deep breathing makes a difference for you.
I did this when I got a bad leg cramp in sleep. It woke me up. In the past I noticed I would tense up more than I would chest breathe making it even worse. When I did deep breathing to get myself to relax it did help.

Happy birthday Allie! 🎂🎈🎈🎉1

I then listened to a question and answer session with two homeopathic vets...
The take away was again my energy has a direct impact on her energy. They recommended a second opinion of the low platelets. In processing the bloodwork it is not always easy to get a clear reading on her count.
Because she has a chronic condition they did recommend I find a homeopathic or Chinese medicine vet. I do agree with them on this.
Things I am doing right...A raw or lightly cooked species appropriate diet. Staying calm when she has accidents (vomiting pottytime ). Walking her so she can sniff 2-3 times a day short distances. Watching for when she shows fatique. Taking care of my health so I am able to help her with her health. I do occasionally give her a raw marrow bone for her teeth. I brush her teeth at night with coconut oil and sing the brush your teeth song to her so I do it for two minutes. Setting limits. That is a constant learning curve. Giving her unconditional love. I tell her everyday I love her and she is the best dog in the whole wide world.7 -
