Tracey Any time my gut biomes get out of whack my lower regions take the brunt. Seems like about every 2-3 years. One year I missed 3 days of work as I couldn't walk. I did learn that KY can cause irritations/infections in some. I will have to look for another lubricant option. In the meantime, Epsom salt soaks several times a day and started med last night.
Entertainment expenses Direct TV, several streaming, internet, home phone, amazon prime, Sirius, cell phone we spend WAY TOO MUCH! Over $650 a month. Stupid money. DH insists on Sirius in all the vehicles. I only listen to it when he is in vehicle. I prefer my phone or iPad. I talked to him about streaming vs direct TV, but ......he HATES change and with his sight he knows where to find things on direct TV. OH well, no mortgage or car payments.
He was in a snit again last night. Apparently wanted to go to Costco and we haven't eaten out in 2 weeks. SMH! He wanted Bagger Dave's. I said fine, whatever. Then he got pissy as I didn't eat. Think bar food. Fried. Salads. Pizza. Their burgers are great but not on my diet right now. Slowly adding fruits/veggies back in diet. Still limited lactose. So basically I could have had a grilled chicken breast for $15. No thank you. I had tuna and rice once we got home. His meal was $30. Craziness! Did go to Costco.
Need to get to grocery this weekend. Peaches added last night and tolerated. Veggies next!
Soaking done. Back to paperwork.

Rosemarie-congrats on selling the van. The lessened stress is worth a bit less money.
Lanette-good plan with your Subaru. I didn't keep extra car after DH passed-didn't want the hassle.
Annie-sounds like a fair price for your car repair. Actually sounds pretty much like it has for several years.
Pip-taking care of lost/stolen wallet is such a pain. I have only experienced it once and that was 30 plus years ago. Very seldom do I carry all of my cards with me (I have way too many credit and store cards!). New saddle looks comfortable.

LeeAnn-hip bursa flare up is no fun. I have had both hips replaced and have had bursa pain before and once afterwards. I can exercise/stretch through mild flares. I have had steroid injections and they really calmed it down quickly. Don't know if you have had hips checked out thoroughly but might be a good idea. Mine seemed to go to bone on bone in no time and there was no relief-the right physical therapy can help.
Allie-glad you have transportation worked out ahead of time. I like that stuff planned so I don't have to search when I arrive.
Tracey-I think you driving truck so quickly is funny!
Kylia-happy to hear you are healing. We ate out every night in Arizona and my body is so glad to be getting back to my normal. Weight went up the standard 3 lbs and is making way back down.
Regarding streaming and tv bills, etc. I know I am spending more than I need. Get stuck making decision of what to cancel. Decided to keep things same until I relocate to retirement place (they provide internet/tv and will see what I miss or want after that).
Going to run out to store quickly and pick up couple of things. Will do walk after phone visit with SIL since it is cooler today.

For me, there are two ways I attempt to overcome problems or worries. 1. Prayer - I pray for peace and wisdom. 2. Doing something about it - even just first steps. So I don't worry a lot and I rarely lose sleep over things.
My "I can't" is usually "I don't want to" or "I don't have time for it". But if I want to or if I do have time for it, I will.
So right now, I don't think I sing very well. I'll tell people, I can't sing. But that's not really true because I can sing, but maybe not beautifully. Taking voice lessons is on my "50 Things To Do Before I Die" list, so maybe one day I will, when I have time for it.
At work, sometimes I just can't figure out the code to get my programs to do something. If that happens, I've got work colleagues who are more skilled than I am and I'll tap into their knowledge.
My days are full of "musts" and "shoulds". I have a long list of things I need to do. Sometimes I become overwhelmed by it all and feel like the entomologist in Woman in the Dunes. But it does feel good when I finally accomplish something.
So as for looking forward to something, I look forward to accomplishing something from my list. I also look forward to getting outside and exercising, to reading a novel, to colouring, to working with my photos, to working in my garden, to having wins with my code and data at work, to some of the many webinars I attend, to walking outside with Rhody .... These things can help improve my mood. Fortunately, I do enjoy most of my life.
Today, I looked forward to sleeping in. Same with tomorrow. I slept about 11.5 hours last night and it was wonderful! I could easily do that again and sometimes wonder how many 11.5 hour sleeps it would take before I no longer felt tired.
Today was a rainy, windy, cool day. A couple times I thought about going out to the garden, but then another band of windy rain came through, so I gave it up. I stayed in my PJs most of the day and only changed to take Rhody out for a walk between waves of rain. Occasionally I take a PJ day. I probably need it more often than I take it but I enjoy the few days like this I get each year.
However, I have done some paperwork and computer stuff.

We had rain last night. I watched John Wayne Westerns with dh. It was an excellent show featuring Native Americans. It was the best of his movies that I have seen.
There are still water droplets on the window this morning & the hummingbirds have visited the feeder. 🌤️

We spent about two years considering getting rid of cable TV so we were comfortable when we made the change. It saved us about two hundred dollars a month. Our smart TV allows us to get YouTube and Tubi free and we pay for Amazon Prime and Netflix. We pay for the fastest unlimited internet because we participate in meetings on Zoom almost every day and want to best possible connection along with good streaming on the TV. We pay over a hundred dollars a month for cell phone service including the cost of Jake's new iPhone with unlimited talk, text, data. I may get a new phone soon which would add about fifty dollars a month to the phone bill. We don't pay for entertainment beyond that--no travel, rare restaurants, no concerts. We pay space rent for our paid for manufactured home and will have a modest payment for the one car we're about to buy. We make intentional decisions together about how to spend our money. It took a long time to get to this point.

This week coming up will be a doozy.. have to bring Alfie to groomers ,and go for a stress test ,but not on the treadmill.. its where they give you a shot.. such a thrill..

I've done one of those once and they eventually just ended it because they'd picked up evidence of my damaged valves, and there was no point for me to keep running.

This last week, I have tried to stay moving more. Also diligently log in my foods, which resulted in .8 lbs loss. 🙂

Ginny-I’ve been to ortho twice and the first time they sent me to PT and everything was so painful and tight that they extended PT. By the end I felt great. Flare ups have been short but tight now it’s been about 10 days. Switching from Tylenol/Aleve to ibuprofen and this morning it feels a bit less intense. I do the exercises from PT. Last ortho appt he pretty much blew me off and said it’s just arthritis. My PCP was convinced it’s bursitis.
Machka-owww! Lots of injuries. Glad you’ve been able to push through.1 -

LeeAnn-I would try for a tie breaker opinion. You know your body. The bursa is at the top side the thigh. Yes, you may well have arthritis also-which can be very painful. My hips were replaced due to arthritis.

Have shopping done, Saturday chat with SIL and got in about a 4.5 mile walk. Don't know exact length because I discovered that I had not turned on tracker until around .3 or so in. Oh well, even if Apple Watch doesn't get all the time-my body knows what was done. Off to work on house. Have a nice rain going on right now.

We do have sirius in all the vehicles. I especially like it when I’m traveling far from home (like going to FL). I sometimes listen to it on my walk (when I’m not listening to a podcast)
Cut up the store cards that I don’t use. I’m only down to 2 store cards – Belks and Kohl’s. And 3 credit cards. Don’t really want any more.

I've got a small pile of ginger root waiting to be peeled and then sliced to make some candied ginger. Corey's off to get the grocery shopping done before the next storm moves in. Lovely soaking rain all morning, only a little thunder/lightning.
Regarding finances:I've been resetting our budget to accommodate paying the house off this month, so am far too familiar with our monthly expenditures at this point. Averaged out the life, health, vision, dental, home and vehicle insurances ($400); taxes ($75); utilities including internet, trash, gas, water, electric and cell phones ($565); and entertainment (streaming services and books - $60) and came up with $1100 monthly outlay on average.
Many of these I put into savings over the course of the year and pay from there, as they're paid annually or twice a year. Many of the insurances pay discounts if you go to an annual payment, and with interest rates high, am getting a much better return on savings, so the money earns a few dollars back.
Groceries and miscellaneous costs vary so widely that it's not easy to predict, but I'm going through our credit card and checkbook records for the last six months to see where the dollars have gone and try to get a valid average for those, too. Once the house is paid, we have no debt, a goal we've been aiming for all our married life. We are very fortunate.
Time to get in the shower, and then get this ginger started. Read everyone's posts, hugs to those needing them, kudos to those who've accomplished so much, and welcome to those who are new.

I have one credit card which I haven't used since I got my knee replace 6 yrs ago. I have never had any store cards. Mostly put everything on my debit card and hate to ever write checks. My DH pays the insurance and taxes so I know he writes checks for that.
Both of my ankles are giving me fits! One I identified as achilles tendenitis that has gotten better and the other today is just aching and my foot is so swollen I can't put my shoe on. Will have to ice it and elevate.

My DH’s family resolved things at the top of their lungs. He is very calm and quiet. I think he didn’t want to be like that. I have a foul temper, it takes a lot to get me there and it’s probably only come out about 3 times in our marriage thankfully. I don’t like myself like that.
Allie - I understand the stress their family dynamics puts on you, Carmine isn’t going to be able to get her problems fixed without Kyle getting his fixed. It’s a terrible situation and I hope they get help soon.
I hope you feel better soon, my SIL apparently woke up sick today with a cold/flu.
Kylia - maybe it’s the meds causing the infection. I haven’t had one for years but used to get them all the time.

Rebecca - out cable and internet are close in price to yours. We are looking at how to lower the cost without losing services. It’s always such a game with these companies.
Lanette - DH now has a 2017 Dodge Ram. The road to credit rebuilding has started I guess.
Great news about your car. My brother swears by Toyotas. He is a mechanic.
I just saw your comment about driving your DH’s truck. Yesterday, DH told me he didn’t know if he would let me drive his truck, I told him that I’m sure I would be the first time he needed something that he didn’t want to go get and wouldn’t fit in my vehicle. Tonight, he came home from work, put on lounge pants and remembered he needed gas. So I’ve driven it already.
One of my previous jobs required me to drive all sorts of trucks, the biggest was a Dodge 3500. It was a bit much, but I did it.
Pip - What a hassle losing a wallet. It takes so much time to get things replaced.
Rosemarie - we signed up for Paramount Plus through Amazon easily on the app on my phone. I spent 2 hours trying to cancel it last week, turns out you can only cancel through the Amazon website not the app. They always find some way of trying to get you.
I set a calendar reminder for a few days before the membership renews so I can cancel if we’re not watching. I just cancelled a few last week. Right now we have Apple TV free.
Annie - I agree with Lanette, about $500 for rotors and brakes on my car last year. I would have thought prices were cheaper in the States, but not so much.
I just saw that there is a 5th Toy Story in the works. That is my favourite animated movie series of all time. I also like Shrek. Inside Out is one that I keep waiting for a sequel. That one came out the year my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and it made me cry. Our eldest daughter thought she should have had royalties, because it explained so much about how she felt when we moved her across the country at age 8.
I have crafted most of the day, trying new things. I’m not done to my satisfaction yet so will have to finish tomorrow probably.

It is pricy! We are blessed that its just one out of three bills we need to pay. Son pays for electric bill. We could always cut out cable and have the three or four major channels. Then just watch our videos and CDs. Check out movies and series from the library. I would be totally ok with that. So just the modem use. As much as I turn on the tv these days, its really only on when husband has a meal. That seems a wee bit sad, but its intentional viewing not just a drone noise in the background.

It’s my first post here and I just started MFP. My job went from “very active” to “sedentary” and my weight shot up. I’m trying to scrape together a solution and have set a calorie and water goal. It’s a start.
I’m 65 and live here on North Padre Island in the Gulf of Mexico with my 6 dogs, disabled husband, and “difficult” 16-year-old son. I have a lot of anxiety and depression, but have found just enough energy to post here.
I just discovered frozen green grapes as a snack!

I just went through and updated all my phone calendar reminders to better reflect my life. And I squeezed some slots for biking and meditation in there. Now I am feeling so organized! I still have several paper piles I need to handle.

I too am on an island but in Puget Sound in the state of Washington. Whidbey Island is 37 miles long and 10 miles wide, and husband and I are quite happy here. There is a Navy Air station here, and we are retired Navy so it works for us.
Caring for husband, and dealing with a teenager is a lot on your plate friend. Finding time for you now and then is key. You are a caregiver, a mom and wife. Those all take energy. Give yourself some grace about it. I had a sick husband for many years while we waited for a liver for him. My "wives hat" was put away and I wore that caregivers hat like a BOSS.💖. My teenager endured many sick days with his Dad, seeing more than any teenager had a right to see. I relied on him a lot, and I probably put undue pressure on him, but we got thru it. He is now 24 and I have thanked him for being there for me. I joined a caregivers support group and for an hour I think I mentally just threw hats, but it was cathartic, and a good "reset" button. Find your reset button.💖👍🏼
Make a couple of good habits and be faithful with them until they become your life. My daily habits:
Make bed
Take vitamins
Drink a cup of coffee (no rezapping in microwave)
Finish a crossword puzzle daily (if I can't I research words ie: cheat)
Balance the checkbook to the penny every week
Cut veggies for my meals every day
When I get stressed I rally the troops (my support system). There are days when a good pity party is in order. Those days I process through my eyeballs I guess. Its needed, and I try to concentrate on my blessings every single one. This group is part of my support system😁💖👍🏼
