Congratulations @Laurz9191! You did great under those weather conditions and not even training officially!0

@Laurz9191 amazing! Doubly so given heat!
Love the Rumplestilzen medal0 -
I add my Congratulations @Laurz9191! 👏👏🌟💖 Amazing and that you have already signed up for another one. Just wow.... 😄😄😄
For me 76 miles out of 100 goal this month. It may be little struggle as I am on a cut the last 2 weeks. It's funny but my weight is smack in the middle of my maintenance range but my middle seems way too pudgy. 🥹😰🫤 Hopefully 2 weeks of being a little mindful and when I hit my 6 year maintenance anni on Oct 1 I will be ready to ramp back up a bit. Today's run was cooler but WOWser it was still really humid out. I started out thinking it wuild be a run then switched to walking then back to running I was watching my heart rate and if it dropped below 100 I was jogging. Ended up mostly jogging and 5 plus miles and POURING SWEAT. 💦💦💦 But extremely happy that I did not quit at the start entirely. I think sometimes when I sleep poorly I tend to have a head game which says don't run.
It was really only going to be a 5 miler but as I was almost home I saw my favorite little sparkly pink puff weeds and decided to get my phone and jog back to get a photo in the morning light.7 -
Congrats @Laurz9191! 🎇🎉👏👏 You did amazing, especially given the heat!0
-
What a great report @Laurz9191.
Plotting your next race whilst still wiping the sweat from your brow with this current one is a baller move! Look out Berlin!!!!!
Congratulations.5 -
I'm four days behind. Yikes. How did that happen?
@tarun_yadavA Congrats on the 50 days in a row run and glad it felt better than the 49th. It's not your 40th birthday, is it? Happy Birthday to whomever! Enjoy your weekend and I agree that having a guys only housewarming before the new house is completely furnished and the wife is away is a very wise choice.
Congrats on your 4 mile PR @Zaxa2021 !
@Teresa502 I have the Garmin Forerunner 745. I like it a lot. My only problem is that the charging cable quit working after about a year and I think it is dropping out on me some. I probably should have reported that before I had it a year, but didn't. The accuracy of the HR data is pretty good with the wrist monitor. I was pleased when I had my stress echo last year and it tacked exactly with the hospital machine. I got this one because it is supposed to pick up other satellites to use for "navigation" if GPS isn't good, but I don't think it has actually used that feature. In the forest/trees, I don't think it matters much. LOL I would buy it again.
@chris_in_cal I hope you are feeling some better by now and it doesn't last 10 days!
@Scott6255 Glad you didn't feel bad for long.
Sorry to see that your poison ivy is lasting so long @AlphaHowls ! Love those pictures from Alaska. I had a couple of friends go this summer and they really enjoyed it. It is so pretty up there. On my bucket list....for the summer months.
Glad your calf is feeling better @martaindale !
Nice speedy run a couple of days ago @kgirlhart !
@polskagirl01 I love your ingenuity with the lonely sock. Glad Mack is feeling better. Great job on the baking. I hope you don't catch what everyone else in the household has. And I hope they are all feeling better by now. Nice scenery from your walk. So sorry that you broke your cake!
@martaindale I love my running skorts with the pockets. What brand did you get? You are doing great with your running and glad you and your kid enjoyed bowling.
Congratulations on your marathon and meeting your goals @Laurz9191 ! Great that you got a PR from your first one too! You did great and sounds like walking a bit was the smart thing to do.

Luckily I've placed close to zero expectations* on my upcoming race. Just getting to the start line in one piece will be a win.
(* Mantra- don't injury myself, enjoy the process, lose some damn weight)

@Scott6255 Good to know. I'll have to look a little closer at that.
@Laurz9191 Great job in tough conditions! Probably a smart call to mix some walking in.
@quilteryoyo This one was from athleta. I love their running shorts and this is the skirt version of my favorite shorts.4 -

I had a great run today. The weather was perfect, and I felt great the whole run. The only dogs I saw were on leashes except one and I could tell by the way he walked he was pretty old and not a threat. I also saw his owner sitting on his porch and he wVed. I think he went to school with my daughter.
I saw this little old Cambodian man I sometimes see near the park. He lives across the street from one of the soccer fields. He looks like he is 100 years old and he walks around the block the soccer field is on with his walker. He stops when I pass and smiles really big and waves. I always say good morning, but he doesn't speak English. It always makes me happy to see him.
The sun was shining but it was 66°F when I started out so it wasn't hot and it was really nice out. I felt like I could run forever. When I got home I had run 13.5 miles but I needed to use the restroom so I stopped. But then that half mile was really bugging me so I went back out and ran a half mile to bring my run to 14 miles. I guess I have a bit of runner's OCD. Or maybe I am just a little crazy. 🤪 🏃♀️
So sorry about the cake and the pan @polskagirl01.
Congratulations @laurz9191! I love the medal!

@chris_in_cal I hope you feel like running tomorrow.
@martaindale I need to look into them. All of mine are from Dona Jo.
Great run @kgirlhart . I think we all have a little bit of "crazy" in us.
Great run @tarun_yadavA ! I thought you had already celebrated your birthday. I hope you enjoyed celebrating with your friend.
@Mari33a I hope your toe gets to feeling better soon. It is best to listen to your body when it is trying to tell you something.
Welcome @jonperelstein ! I do a combination of fast walking and running. Feel free to jump into the conversation, ask questions, fill us in on your journey so far, etc. We love to hear those things. This group is great!
4 -
Nice running @kgirlhart.
@Mari33a hope the little toe starts feeling better soon before you go stir crazy!
6.1 miles this morning. The very nice weather was negated by very bad GI issues for the last 3 miles, followed by a shattered phone screen while hastily removing running belt due to said GI issues 😫
8 -
@jonperelstein Welcome!!
@Scott6255 Breaking your phone while dealing with GI issues is adding insult to injury. Hope both are remedied soon.2 -
Sept total: 55/100 miles
9/2: 8 miles
9/4: 4.3 miles
9/5: 3 miles
9/6: 3.9 miles

9/9: 13.1 miles
9/12: 3 miles
9/15: 5.2 miles
9/16: 6.5 miles
9/18: 5 miles
Temps that start with a 6!!! Woohoo! We have 2 days with a tiny temp drop, but it makes such a big difference. I actually wore a shirt and didn't overheat. Love that.
I went to Pilates yesterday so am a tiny bit sore today, but not bad. And my calf is feeling better after some tlc. I need to make sure to foam roll more. That seemed to make the biggest difference.8 -
Congratulations @Laurz9191! Great accomplishment!
Unfortunately, I caught my kids' yucky cold. Fortunately(?), it seems to be blocking my LC symptoms, which is weird but welcome, even if the current science suggests it will likely only be a temporary relief.9 -

There was an interesting piece in the Washington Post yesterday about fatigue-based illnesses "She wrote to a scientist about her fatigue. It inspired a breakthrough." Take a look around, or send me a message and I'll dig up the link3 -
Oh boy, I went away for the weekend and am way behind again.
@Laurz9191 well done!
Welcome new people :-)
My weekend was to check out the first half of my big race in November. It was. Interesting. We ended up missing a few turns and adding 2km on. The infamous 'Captain' ascent is nasty. I knew there was almost 3km at an average of 22% incline, I didn't know it includes a couple of even steeper stretches and the ground is loose dirt and stones. I had to crawl up a couple of short stretches and have no idea how I will tackle it in the dark. There's also a short, very unpleasant part on the way down. Oh, and lots of slippery singletrack along sides of mountains with steep drops down into the valley on one side. I was hoping to manage the 42km section in 8 hours but that's not looking likely, will be more than happy with 9! For those who aren't familiar with my crazy antics, we're talking mountain trails here.
I said at one point towards the end that as we were there I'd like to just carry on and do the whole route to see how long it took us, but it was nearing 2pm, it was hot and we were almost out of water so decided no. We wanted to go back the next morning and do the second half, but then there were storm warnings and everyone was tired, so it didn't happen. I just have to hope the second half is easier.
I also keep forgetting I have a 25km B race on 7 October... should probably start thinking about that 😅9 -

The weather this morning was just about perfect. It was 64°F with a dew point of 57°. The sky was clear and the stars were bright. It was really a lovely morning. I ran 3.25 miles. I would have liked to run further, but I was just planning a short run for the streak and figured after 14 miles yesterday, I should probably take it easy today.

@Scott6255 That sucks! Sounds like a tough day yesterday! I hope today is better!
@tarun_yadavA They only had fruit at the finish line. I really wasn’t feeling up for any sugar after all the gels, but had a couple of apple slices and some water (so healthy, right). Then we had a bbq - so lots of protein and some bread and aioli (yum).
I’m feeling quite good but I know my legs are still tired, so I’m just trying to enjoy not running for one more day. Then I’ll ease slowly back into it. As much as I wanted to quit during the marathon, I haven’t been able to get the idea of running another one out of my head since crossing the finish line … I’m thinking April in Hanover … My body/schedule seems to do better with training over the winter than over the summer.9 -
8 miles this morning. Temps back close to 80F again this morning. That cool weather lasted all of 2 days!

Don't be in a hurry to run, your body needs plenty of time to recover. My coach doesn't let us run AT ALL for 10 days after a big race!5 -

So I guess that's one way to handle the snot noses!
I saw that article in one of the groups I follow. There have been some interesting things coming out lately in the research. Hopefully we're a few steps closer to real practical answers.
@Scott6255 so sorry about your phone.7 -
@eleanorhawkins Wow, that race is going to be INTENSE! I think I would count it a success if I managed not to fall off the mountain.
@polskagirl01 Your pile of ice cream made me laugh. I can guarantee we have never had that much ice cream in a freezer. My family does not forget about ice cream!4 -
Sept total: 61.1/100 miles
9/2: 8 miles
9/4: 4.3 miles
9/5: 3 miles
9/6: 3.9 miles
9/8: 3 miles
9/9: 13.1 miles
9/12: 3 miles
9/15: 5.2 miles
9/16: 6.5 miles
9/18: 5 miles
9/19: 6.1 miles
Another morning with temps that start with a 6! It's getting warmer tomorrow but I made sure to enjoy it today. Did the neighborhood trail, saw my trail friend, and dodged school drop-off traffic on the road part. All in all, a success. Garmin called me unproductive though. Told you I will be hearing that a lot.5
