@Scott6255 I don't blame you for cutting it "short" today. Those temps are horrible.
Great running @SummerSkier ! Where does your friend live that she had temps in the 50's today?2 -

63.10/80 mile goal
Looks like I haven't posted my activity since Tuesday.
Wed I worked and ran some errands, so didn't get a chance to do anything until after church, so I just walked one mile on the treadmill.
Thursday, I did my scheduled Speed Play run on the driveway. The "speed" play was 5 x (1/2 min in Zones 5 and 1). I was pleased that the speed minutes averaged 10:29 min/mile....all were pretty much the same - even the one that was mostly up hill!
Yesterday I did health screenings (took blood pressures) at another school. I was tired when I got home - hadn't slept well for a couple of nights. So, after a nap, I did a wun on the driveway. I called that cross training, which is allowed on the plan.
Today didn't go as planned, but turned out okay in the end. I had sold my neighbor my old DR Field and Brush Mower. It's a walk behind, self propelled machine. I "walked" it over to his house this morning. I counted that as "mowing" so I could count the 0.73 miles as part of my run the year total, but it wasn't fast enough to count for my monthly total here. The DR top speed is apparently 2.7 mph. LOL
Afterwards, the neighbor and I went down and helped mom dig around a leaking frost free faucet in her yard. I think we found the issue and will get it fixed next week.
I was tired and in a mood when I got home, so rested a bit and then went out for a Foundation type run on the driveway. Today was supposed to be a 6 mile Long Run. I just didn't have it in me to even try. I walked a total of 1.25 miles for warm up and cool down and ran 2.25 miles. I tried to keep my HR under 140 bpm, but even with a lot of walking the avg was 137 with a max of 150 bpm.
Later, the same neighbor asked me over to try out some Brie chees he bought. I decided to walk over, to get some extra miles in. Walking over and back was 1.50 miles and I did it at 3.7 mph, so counts! LOL
Counting everything, my day total was 5.73 miles. That's pretty close to the 6 I was supposed to run.4 -

Morning all
Got in 7 miles (09"11)... and brought up 1000 for the year! New shoes too!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone!
I have two episodes of 'Only Murders In the building' to get stuck into later...
@martaindale you should totally get into it Sarah!
@SummerSkier well done on closing in on the goal 🙌
@quilteryoyo (in Homer Simpson voice) Mmmmm Brie 🤤7 -
Busy doing crazy stuff as usual, including almost 6 hours of crawling up mountains, fighting panic on steep downhill stretches with loose dirt and stones, learning that my new chest lamp is cool on roads or wide, non-technical trails but sucks on steep hills or narrow tracks because turning my head doesn't allow me to see where I need to go, and discovering that snarling dogs on the other sides of fences sound like they're RIGHT behind you and about to take a bite out of your backside, all in the dark. Isn't that what everyone does on a Friday night?
Next weekend I'm going to a 'trail camp' with a bunch of workshops, should be good.
@quilteryoyo I, too, would happily walk for brie10 -

I was struggling today, feeling crappy with a sore throat and a headache. Still having just under 30k to run with only 6 days to go, with no donations but my own. Picked myself up, had a little cry and a hug from my Mom and got out and done another 5k ✔️🏃🏼♀️
24.55k to go, I will do it for all the kids at Great Ormand Street Hospital. 💖

@eleanorhawkins You are AMAZING! That sounds like a bit of a scary Friday night. At least you now know to not wear the chest lamp for your race. I don't know how you do it. Enjoy your trail camp next week. Sounds interesting. Will there be lots of running or mostly talking?
Hugs to you @___Tams___ . Hopefully you can get some other donations before the month is over. I know it can be frustrating. I ran for Relay For Life for a few years...as a fundraiser. I asked all of my FB friends to donate. Some years I got a better response than others, but I kept putting my mileage out there at least once a week and asked for donations again...with the total I had raised so far. If you aren't doing that, maybe it would help. If nothing else, at least you are getting the word out about the charity.7 -

I got out the door at 7:44 this morning. It was so hot. I ran 11 miles. It wasn't a bad run, but it was tough. I felt more tired after today's run than I did last week after 14 miles. 66°F at the start 77°F at the end is so much better than 80°F at the start and 88° feels like 91°at the end.

Morning everyone!
Nice pleasant day in London today! Got in 4.68 (09"19).
Have potentially 16 more runs before I go away again. (India, for 2+ weeks, - a country even more ill-suited to outdoor running than both Mexico and South Africa. Combined. [wow. South Africa It's been a year since I've been here on this forum] ).
Other news -
Belt buckle is back upto 5, but ever so slight 'muffin top' on some shirts, when tucked in, when I'm sitting down. So hoping to rectify that over next 2weeks! Lol
@Teresa502 loving your pics!
@__Tams__ well done on getting a 5K done when you weren't feeling like it!
Sorry the fundraising isn't going to plan!
Do you have a justgiving page?8 -

Not heard of that Turkish one... Netflix/prime?
Currently on 'Only Murders in the Building' S3 (think that's Hulu for you guys in the US). Love, love, LOVE it. Grew up on the humour of Steve Martin - so nostalgic a little. And he's still got it. Selena Gomez bounces off him/Martin short really well too. Not to mention all the great cameos... Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep etc etc.
Before that... binged 'Black Bird' in 24 hours. Undercover serial killer stuff based on a true story. So so grim but so so good.
@polskagirl01 ps: yes, you are an ice-cream snob! LolBut it's really long and a couple of the themes/conflicts are starting to get old. Maybe I had too big of a dose at one time. Because of the subtitles, it's hard to watch passively while doing anything else. It's still very well-done, with character development, subtle foreshadowing, symbolism, etc. From a historical/cultural standpoint I'm clueless about how things actually were, but I am not convinced any of those women really had *this* much of a voice in their lives. The point does come across that it sucked to be most people during the Ottoman Empire. And a psychologist would probably give some interesting analysis, as there's a good bit of Stockholm syndrome going on, PTSD on overdrive and some unhealthy but entertaining coping mechanisms, among other things. Are they glorifying an abusive system though? Is this what I want to fill my brain with? Maybe. I'm still sick. Entire head feels clogged. It feels like the cold is on its way out, but it sure is taking its time.
Thanks for all of the well-wishes for the Squash Army. Slugs have retreated, we got some rain and some sun over the weekend, and I hadn't been out in a few days, so I definitely noticed growth on the latecomer baby squashes. Someone has got a bigger pumpkin patch we pass on the way to town that I've been eyeing jealously though, and I may be making plans to expand my empire next year 😁
No running, hardly even walking, but keeping up with the hydration etc, and found that something about the acupressure torture mat helps with the congestion. I did get out of bed this morning and added some brighter colors to my painting that I guess wasn't finished after all... looking at it now, I still don't like it and will likely try to fix it again soon.

Hi everyone! After another two recovery days, I went on a nice 11.5km run this morning. Nothing of note. It was a nice run in fall weather. I really am sorry to hear that it is still so hot in Texas. I hope it cools down soon!
Yesterday I watched the last hour and a half of the Berlin marathon (yes, what runners do for fun…). I was so inspired watching Tigst Assefa smashing the women’s world record by over two minutes. She looked so relaxed and chill the whole time she was running and she was passing all of these world class elite men. It was just awesome.
Anyways, I’ve reached my monthly goal now with 162.6/160km. There’s still a few days left in September, so I think I might make it to 180.7 -

I read a short article about that yesterday. So crazy! A 2 minute drop at that level is so rare. I would love to look as relaxed as some of those elite runners do while exerting that hard. Even when I feel relaxed, I see race photos and I def don't look it!6 -
Sept total: 75.6/100 miles

Did my long run yesterday instead of Saturday because I had to work Sat morning. Like my fellow Texans have mentioned, it was summer level hot again. I did a test run on another skirt I bought for a costume. I really liked it, maybe even better than the first one. The waist is looser than ideal for me but it has a drawstring, and ultimately stayed put. The thigh pockets work great but I would probably reserve the back waist pocket for lightweight items only.6 -
Yep, Texas is STILL waiting for fall to arrive. Did 6.2 hot/humid miles this morning. It was dark, and I ran into a fallen tree branch that laying across the sidewalk. Cut up my shins pretty good 😫

@Scott6255 that storm yesterday was FRIGGIN crazy. It skirted just about a mile east of my house but it was HUGE and there were reports of tennis ball size hail. The winds straight line from it were outrageous also. I feel blessed not to have gotten the hail. And in other wierd stuff half of my neighborhood lost there power but only half of it. So lights work but not AC. Lived here 30 plus years and have never had a brown outage like that. Usually it ALL or nothing. I lost power for a few minutes but got it back also.4
-
Great running @tarun_yadavA . Had to laugh at the description of the body part you want to reduce. Aren't you glad you found this group a year ago?! I know we are glad you did. I hope you enjoy your trip to India.
@polskagirl01 I hope you start feeling better soon. A bad cold on top of everything else is tough.
Great running and congrats on meeting your goal already @Laurz9191 .
Great running @martaindale .
Oh no @Scott6255 ! That sounds painful.
That is very odd @SummerSkier about the power. Anyway, I'm glad the heart of the storm missed you.2 -

Great news!
@SummerSkier @Scott6255 We have rain forecasted today. I guess remnants of the storm that already hit y’all. They gave us a hail warning too, but those rarely materialize here. Mostly we should just get some welcome rain.5 -

It was too gross this morning so I did a treadmill run (ifit - beach in Portugal). The best thing about the treadmill is how much easier it is for me to slow down. When combined with the a/c, it makes for a true recovery run.4
