Hello I'm Darlene and have been with this group for a few months now; my favorite support group on MFP. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty).
My goals for October๐ :
Lose 4 pounds (always my goal) - BUT I am only 6 pounds away from getting out of the obese category - so setting a stretch goal to get there by the end of the month. Usually if I announce something I do it so . . . .. fingers crossed. โ๏ธ
Hit my orignal 1,960 mile goal. I am on a mission to get 2,023 miles in 2023, when I first started my goal was 1,960 - a good year. When I realized that I would achieve this early changed it to 2,023. ๐โโ๏ธ

Oct 3: 173.4 ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐๐ฅ ๐ ๐๏ธ ๐ฎ The Hogwarts challenge that I am in has an assignment this week to run/jog for 20 minutes. It doesn't have to be in one session. Years ago, I did the Couch to 5K and jogged a 5k on my 50th birthday (a time when I was almost at my goal weight). I thought about doing that again, but when I tried earlier this year my knees couldn't take it. I thought I would try again when I lost 60 pounds - I'm not quite at 60, but close - I guess this was a sign that I should try again. Yesterday I did day one, and it was fun. Keeping my fingers crossed because I really did love it.

It's bingo night with Mom tonight so up later than usual - thinking I'll need to take a nap today - we'll see how that plays out on the scale tomorrow.
Oct 10: 172 ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐๐ ๐ฎ First day in forever I missed my calorie goal. Just a couple 100 over, but over just the same. It is my sister's birthday today - so had cake last night at bingo which put me over the top.

@deepwoodslady We went to Sam's club for our monthly bulk buy and got the Halloween candy - 455 pieces (we live in a great trick-or-treating neighborhood). Every day I look at it - but so far haven't opened the bag. It's the minature tootsie rolls for me.

@ManifestingToday I had to look up what harvest corn was, we call it candy corn in Connecticut. Where are you from?
I live in Virginia (in the US). Harvest Corn is a variant of Candy Corn. According to Brach's: "We added a deliciously chocolaty twist to America's #1 Candy Corn*. Our Harvest Corn combines Classic Candy Corn flavor with cocoa powder for a rich, chocolaty taste that's sensational for baking, snacking, and fall decorating with friends and family."
It is wonderful with a hot cup of coffee. It always sells out at my store, so I bought a bag when the candy started arriving, and it's hiding in the pantry. Iโm a grandma from Ontario. 7 months ago my health really took a hit: diabetes, hbp, hardened arteries , arthritis, etc. Everything came on at once. I was heading for a stroke. Scared me into action.
I love this challenge, and the support and inspiration it brings.
Starting weight in March 2023: 230 lbs.

Iโll go to my aerobics class this morning even though I feel bloated, and take the rest of the day from there. Already planned a much healthier dinner for tonight.3 -

October 2: 137.0 I logged ๐ Wow, my weight can really spike up quickly. On Sept 30 I was 134.8. Now 2.2 lbs higher. But this is not a surprise. On Sept 30 my mom took me out to lunch; and the mac & cheese was sooooo bad. I just had to go home and make mac & cheese to go with dinner, the proper way, with all the butter and flour and cream cheese and buttery bread crumb topping. And I ate too much of that mac & cheese. And then yesterday we had a long party with friends, and there was a ton of great food & wine. So I overdid it there. So, now back to the plan. My goal is to get back at daily logging & daily meeting my calorie goal, AND to drink lots of water. Cycle day 1 should be right about now too, so the weight could stay here or go up again. Just going to get back to the plan and try to stick with it from here!

For about a month I've been working on it and now I can run up to about 3-4 minutes intermittently with about 1-2 minutes walking, for about 25 minutes. I never believed I could run for 3 minutes straight, so this is a huge improvement. Hopefully I won't wake up sick or something (there is sickness going through the house.)

@ddainiak The race went great! I'm super excited that I finally did a 5K. I ran about 3-4 minutes and walked about 2 minutes. My time was about 41:00. My goal is to just keep on "training." That's great that you have started a C2K program! ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ

I love this supportive group. I'm a 46 year-old, 5'4" 2-time cancer survivor mom of four who always has some new ailment each month. Lol. I will check in when I can, but life has been really challenging these past few weeks. Struggling financially means extra mental stress and lots to manage and struggling physically creates lots of appointments and PT to manage as well. I am not focusing on weight loss this month, but on maintaining what I have lost by not caving in to emotional eating by walking everyday and finding a Zen moment everyday as well.
10/01: 182.5 - coached Girls Rugby, so lots of walking and running.
10/02: 182.3 - I have a second round job interview today. Trying to stay calm.

10/10-183.2-(Trend Weight 187.1)- I ramped up my exercise this past week and began eating later in the day so that my dinner ends up pretty late and there is no need for those night time snacks (that I have a hard time controlling.) Iโm still experimenting with the zig-zagging of both my calories and my carbs as well. It seems to be keeping the scale moving without stalls or plateaus so far. โIf it ainโt broke, donโt fix itโ, so I will stay the course. I noticed that my scale weights almost always end in a .2 or a .8 very strange.
10/11-183.0-(Trend Weight 186.7)- I have definitely not had enough calories the past couple of days. It seems Iโm reaching my carb limits (diabetic diet) and getting in my healthy fats (better for my heart condition), but canโt seem to get the calories just right (weight loss plan). Itโs hard to coordinate the 3 diets. Iโm not choosing proper earlier in the day I think and that leaves me trying to piece it together at night. Itโs really important I mind the carbs/diabetes so once I hit those numbers Iโm pretty much struggling for enough calories without going WAY over carbs. Last night I added more nuts and white cheese but I was still shy due to my fats going through the roof. Better planning is in the works! Tonight is my DGSโs school concert so my son & I (the autistic one) plan on meeting my ex-hubby for dinner beforehand and then we will all attend the concert together. That will be nice for my son (Johnny) for sure. I am going to make today my higher calorie day and make sure I get those calories in today before my progress slows way down. Itโs a slippery slope. Like walking on a tight rope. If I go over on fat or carbs Iโm not going to panic. I seriously need those calories.

October 2: 137.0 I logged ๐ Wow, my weight can really spike up quickly. On Sept 30 I was 134.8. Now 2.2 lbs higher. But this is not a surprise. On Sept 30 my mom took me out to lunch; and the mac & cheese was sooooo bad. I just had to go home and make mac & cheese to go with dinner, the proper way, with all the butter and flour and cream cheese and buttery bread crumb topping. And I ate too much of that mac & cheese. And then yesterday we had a long party with friends, and there was a ton of great food & wine. So I overdid it there. So, now back to the plan. My goal is to get back at daily logging & daily meeting my calorie goal, AND to drink lots of water. Cycle day 1 should be right about now too, so the weight could stay here or go up again. Just going to get back to the plan and try to stick with it from here!

October 9: 135.0 I've been super slack with logging. But I am signed up for my very first 5K tomorrow, so that's exciting. This will be a run/walk for me. For about a month I've been working on it and now I can run up to about 3-4 minutes intermittently with about 1-2 minutes walking, for about 25 minutes. I never believed I could run for 3 minutes straight, so this is a huge improvement. Hopefully I won't wake up sick or something (there is sickness going through the house.)

Yes, those are the ones! They taste just a bit better than the plain candy corn -- which is I think why they sell out so fast. Still off limits here too, LOL.1 -
