So... it's misting rain, and horribly squidgy outside, as well as being in the mid-40s (around 5C) and my husband decided it was a good day to get the lower landing of the sunroom built. I love that boy to pieces... and the rest I will leave unsaid. I just saw him start up a power saw while the rain was dripping off the brim of his hat... and decided not to look outside again until I hear "zap," and a squeak and a thud. This was taken before the rain came on in earnest. No more shirtless days for the year, I'm thinking.

Hope: Welcome to the group. My weight gain is from Coke. I was a caregiver and drank Coke to have the energy to do this, especially in the evenings.
Terri: I admire your learning Latin. I did French in high school.
Auntiebk: Good luck with the Mohs surgery. My husband had it and it went pretty smoothly.
Kylia: I never use to think 2x about going in a hot tub. Now I think I would want my own.
Carol: Glad DH's cataract surgery went well. I am told I have the start of cataracts. I am due an eye exam but really want these glasses to last another year.....unless I get headaches from eye strain.
Annie: I have a friend who is doing caregiving now. He is Adult Failure to Thrive and will ask her to cook something and then won't eat it. This frustrates my friend terribly.
Lisa: I had a little laugh about the defense dismissing Corey for saying taking 500 dollars was a crime. The marinated chicken with Dijon mustard sounds terrific!
RVRita: I hope your cataract surgery goes well.
Debbie: I am so jealous of the wetlands. I walk at a college campus. There is another place I could walk but I have seen a rattle snake there and that has put me off on it. I would be so annoyed cooking for someone who wants to eat in a recliner. We ate dinner at the table every evening. We didn't eat meals in front of the tv. I would be put off cooking for someone who did otherwise.
Heather: I need to itemize what decluttering needs to be done upstairs. The downstairs is pretty good. Most of what is upstairs is trash. There are papers that must be sorted.
Vickie: Glad you got to meet some of DH's family.
Machka: Rhody is very handsome!
Rebecca: I love the pictures of the grandchildren.
Tracey: I use to love men with beards but now not so much!
Lanette: Great that you can go freezer shopping! I am not a vegetarian but no longer purchase meat. I have lost interest in cooking it.
I went back 5 pages. I hope I didn't miss anything important. I got the 3 pups and Momma late Thursday afternoon and Friday and Saturday the little one, Shirley wasn't eating and I ended up feeding her milk with a syringe. Today she has been eating and I am much relieved. She is much smaller than her 2 brothers and I do worry about her. I have been getting up at night so am tired. They are about 4 weeks old. Momma is very sweet. She walks on a leash and we have been having gorgeous weather so have enjoyed our time outside!

Did the Kettleworx Chest and Back DVD then one part of the absolute abs DVD, took a walk to Food Lion to get more potatoes for Vince and some donuts that were on sale. See, if I spent another $1.55, I got $2 off my next order. Then went to WalMart.
Made some more protein waffles in case I need to take some to Jess’ this weekend. Then made tofu manicotti for next week. Only I don’t tell Vince there’s tofu in them. He’s had them before and liked them.
debbie – I find that when I walk by myself, I seem to think really clearly. Do you feel this way?
Tracey – Michaela is so adorable, as is her scarecrow
It was so dark when I left to go to Food Lion that I actually looked at the time on my phone to be sure I didn’t leave an hour earlier. Nope. We change our clocks next Sunday (boo)
Manicotti just came out of the oven. Want to make some biscuits to have in the freezer for Vince. But first I want to dry the pots etc in the oven
pip – Jess likes succulents. I found this “glow in the dark” one that I thought was interesting. Hope it survives until I can give it to her next weekend. Which reminds me, I should probably water it
Rebecca – safe travel
kylia – I never thought of M’s rash as being shingles, but you are so right. It’s been going on a long time, now. Oh, you don’t know what you missed by never having a spaghetti squash. Just wait till you try it!. Vince is like your dh...he saves and saves. I get rid of things that we haven’t used in a long time. He felt bad getting rid of his crib, Jess didn’t want us to do it (no one would use it because it didn’t meet safety standards of today but she still didn’t want us to get rid of it. But we did anyway.). Great job doing all that cleaning!
When we go to see Jess this weekend, first I want to stop by this place that says they buy silverplate. I don’t want to go with Jess because she won’t want to sell it. Even if all I get is $5, to me that’s a win
because otherwise it would just be sitting in the house.
allie - My CPAP mask is one like this:gclid=Cj0KCQjwhfipBhCqARIsAH9msbk7y5u8jqn_ERTOxwRHQj7gQE0MW87ZK0SP3aehQPlDzcTXv23PjVQaAmGVEALw_wcB. See how there's this short elastic thing in the back? Well, the last one they sent me has a long elastic thing that goes from one side to the other. There aren't the plastic "bars" on the side. I find that with this new one, I'm getting a much more restless sleep because the elastic thing that helps hold it on your head keep slipping to the top of my head. I'm constantly waking up, moving it so that I can sleep. This must happen at least a dozen times a night. It happens whenever I roll over, and I do that a lot.
While at WalMart in the frozen fruit area I found this fruit called Aloe Vera. Has anyone ever had it? It looks like it's pretty bland (if it is, Vince will probably like it)

Kylia - I was thrilled to hear about your good day yesterday at work and getting things caught up at home. Sounds like a wonderful day is on tap for you today.
Annie - You are getting a plan underway. So many good ideas here among our group. You have a lot of "Orchestrating" to do but you'll do fine.
I got an email from a friend this morning whose MIL (93) is living in a home across town that he and his wife own. He is always having to run over there and mow, fix things. She is forgetful and refuses to take in a live-in helper. MIL refuses to even think of moving into assisted living because she's got it so good. I thought his email was timely considering aging parents have been the topic here this past week and it was interesting hearing it from a guy's perspective.
Tracey - Wow, Michaela's scarecrow is so cute. What cute "blind mice!" I plan to watch the videos later this week when the rain returns. I have 2 sunny days here to get outside jobs caught up.
Lisa - way to go Corey! We'll miss the shirtless photos, lol.
Rebecca - have a safe drive back. So glad you and Lee were able to stop in and see his mom. She's a sweetie.
Rosemarie - thanks for popping in here. So glad the dog fostering is going well. Good job getting Shirley back on track. (Cute name!) I'm not a big meat eater anymore but go heavy on eggs for the protein for breakfast, with some beef or pork or chicken now and then, a bit on the side for additional protein. How are you with eating fish? I'm too lazy to cook it most of the time but love canned salmon I can throw on top of a salad.
10 minute walks - I measured, and three ten minute walks average between 1,000 and 1300 steps, depending on where I'm walking. I'm not wedded to my pedometer, some days forget to put it in my pocket. Barbie has it right, there's more to exercise than just walking. Annie the pup is seeing to that.
New ladies starting back in exercising - I became a member of this group nearly seven years ago. During that time, I started back jogging (I was 65 then) and then injured my left foot - stone bruise, metatarsalgia, 2 steriod shots - which cut even walking way down for a while. I was making good headway with free weights and ankle weights for a couple years but sidelined when I got a frozen shoulder. Then, I developed a small hernia below my belly button from dragging a heavy bag of potting soil around. Surgery and reduced walking plus no lifting for a while. After recovering from that, the Pandemic hit and I was back daily walking with my neighbor until I broke my baby toe/injured my whole foot a little over a year ago (barefoot and kicking a toy for the dog and bonked my foot on the recliner!) which sidelined me for a quite a while and I'm still on the mend from that.
The reason I mention all of this - do not be discouraged if you get started on an exercise plan but get sidelined because of family, injury or medical reasons. We can get back on the horse - it might take a month or two instead of the week or two recovery period we had in our 20's. Many of us in this group have had to re-adjust our exercise plans but continually find ways to keep active. I am so happy to be able to start walking again and to be active doing outside jobs while the weather is nice. Grateful for what I can do, not longing for what I can't do anymore - I still go there sometimes and have to yank myself back into the present.
***Reminder for anyone wanting to be included in the "check-in", please get your info to me today or tomorrow morning.
Make it a wonderful Sunday!

Miles was baptized this morning ,here are a few pictures..12 -
I had oatmeal for breakfast this morning aptly as it is National Oatmeal Day! It is also the day some countries Fall Back. I was confused because I didn’t think we changed ours until next week (Nov. 5). Looked it up and I was right, next week the US falls back. See the rest of the list in spoiler.

Machka Just wondering based on things I have seen and read lately.....could the rash be shingles and not an allergic reaction? It seems like a long time for clearing up. Just a thought that crossed my mind especially when you said it was painful.
Lots of love,
Kylia in rainy Ohio
It was painful early on but only for a couple days. Now it's just itchy. It's a whole collection of small itchy lumps which are actually little blisters. But they aren't close together anymore. The ones down both arms are just here and there.
I've also been immunised for shingles.

We grow aloe vera ... young plants look like this:
Apparently it does have a very seedy fruit although I've never seen ours produce any.
What does yours look like?

Stat for the day-
housecleaning etc- 4hrs 39min 19sec, vacuum, dust, make hummingbird food and re fill, clean and refill birdbath, laundry fold and put away, sweep front entryway way and front patio, trim hedges, water plants, change bedsheets, etc= 1257c
Kirby was able to get a 21mile spin bike ride in, I was still cleaning, didn’t have time to join him.6 -
Well, the 5th is the 1/2 marathon day. I think he said our start time is 6:30am. We are going to ride our bikes there again. Kirby has been training a lot more than I have because I’m still biking because of the MS ride. Because we r riding, that means I will be running with a backpack carrying our helmets and bike shoes. I told him to run like the wind and. I’ll just see him at the finish line. I will try to run the whole way but we will see if I can with the extra Wei, it will be an awkward run with a backpack. My brother and his wife will be at the finish line. They will be serving a hot breakfast, ice cream sundae and a live band playing for entertainment. I’ve broken in my new monkey feet, so that’s good.I looked at the weather forecast for that day, 54 degrees at 6am and we should be running for 2 hrs or so, 62 degrees at 9am. Good run day10

Allie, what precious photos of Miles getting baptized.💖
Today is a long day! Up at 6:30 am, breakfast at Elmer's restaurant with the kids. I was surprised they made it, it was at 8 am but still early to organize a baby, a 4 yr old, pumping schedule and yet they were there, bright eyed and bushy tailed.😁. Athena had on the cutest heavy fleece tan plaid coat. She got a new pink sparkling purse from Wal-Mart the day before, so she had that slung around her. She had "cub" cakes, (bear shaped pancakes) and ate fairly well. Her and I were busy coloring. Eli was conked out in his carrier, so they just parked him on an empty chair at our table. The meal was $100+ but we treated them. We had only paid one other meal, a Popeyes meal. They bought pizza one night, plus pastries that we never even touched. Sweet son bought special extra strong Keurig pods for me, because he knows I like the dark roast blend. I think I had two cups and thats all. I was too busy playing with Athena. Granddaughters are so cute as they cuddle, and get in your face all smiles. Four year olds have no sense of proper distance and its just so precious. We did a lot of looking at each other a breath apart. She was on my lap every time I sat on their couch. Sometimes with husband though💖. She uses please and thank yous. I missed her the moment we pulled out of Elmer's to get on the freeway😥💖.

Hello everyone,
I would love to join your group! I am 65 years old and have been on a weight loss journey for the past year and a half. I have lost 70 pounds, but I still have another 37 pounds to go! I am recently widowed and in the process of trying to adjust to living on my own without my beloved husband, whom I lost to cancer. I am still working full-time, and my work has been a source of comfort to me during my husband's long illness. I live in middle Tennessee. I have been using myfitnesspal for a long time to log in to Food and Weight, but I have never posted on a forum before, so I hope this message will be posted. I have been reading this discussion thread for a while and think that you are a very supportive group I hope to be a part of.11 -
Welcome Kate in Tennessee!
Today I did a decent job of tracking. So that's a step in the right direction. But I also got into the Halloween candy.
I've been toying with online dating again. If I do that, I really need to shape up. I need to rework my schedule and stick to it!

Tracey – I bookmarked the video, it sounded very interesting. I love seeing your T-shirts and cups… you have a sense of humor that always makes me laugh. Loved the scarecrow, too, and Michaela’s smile even more.
Heather - Hope you're feeling better... that infection has hung on far too long.
Rosemarie - Glad you're enjoying the pup and her babies!
Allie - The pictures of Miles' baptism were beyond sweet. He looks like a very happy little man.
Rebecca - They're such fun at Athena's age. I'm sure missing mine.
@B23_Kate - Welcome, we're glad you're here! Keep coming back and tell us about yourself.
Michele & Machka - I looked it up, and apparently there is an aloe vera fruit. I've seen aloe vera plants all my life, but never knew there was a fruit: https://ibizaloe.com/en/aloe-vera-fruto/
After Corey stopped making so much noise outside, Egg had to investigate everything he'd done. I'm pretty sure she thinks he's making a jungle gym just for her... The top of that post is ten feet up, by the way.
Love y'all,
Lisa in still rainy Arkansas

Lisa-power tools in the rain sounds about right. Glad there were no injuries!
Annie-don't have any advice on getting your dad to stop driving. Going with him when you can will help. We were all glad my mom came to decision on her own (no dementia-just became a dangerous old lady driver-eyesight not what it was).
Kylia-congrats on a couple of wins! Hang in there. Enjoy every minute of getting rid of that stuff!
Allie-congratulations on Miles baptism. Is husband #1 Tracy's dad? Not sure on the relationships.
Internet woes.So I decided to give ATT home internet air (All-fi hub) a try. Supposed to be faster and a bit cheaper. What a pain. What was supposed to be a 20 minute set up at lunch on Friday turned into well over two hours (spent 1 1/2 hours on phone with a customer service rep). Could not get it to function right with my Samsung tvs. For some reason it didn't like my apps (which are all standard stuff). Thought we got it working Friday. Saturday it had awful service. Finally turned it off went back to previous gate way-no problems. Today (after paying bills and doing some stuff for work I decided to give it one more chance. Not only did it not work right but the whole ATT website around her was non functional, Got through to Hulu (changing router registered as I moved four times in two days and I would lose my Live programming. Spent time chatting with their customer service-they assured me I wouldn't. Went back to original, Have everything working, I will notify ATT that I am not keeping service (I have until Friday). It could just be my Samsung tvs-but it seems strange ATt would not work with them with the ne hub,
Have been up since 4 am-time for bed.
Take care all

M – the aloe vera tastes very bland. I have some bananas frozen so I’m thinking that the next time I have it, I’ll defrost it with the banana. It looks almost like ice
Allie – Miles looks so sweet. Was Carmine there?
B23_Kate – welcome!
Cleaned the grates to the oven today since it was so nice out. It’s supposed to get cold so that’s when I’ll run the self-clean
Lisa – I’ve known about aloe vera plant, which is why I thought the fruit sounded interesting. I’d never heard of aloe vera fruit, so I thought “well, what can I lose?” Now I know. Do you meant to tell me that Egg didn’t supervise Cory and make sure he did everything right? Oh, wait, Egg was probably busy napping. But still….to have something done without supervision?
Ginny – I probably wouldn’t keep ATT&T either.
Bowling tomorrow and then ceramics.
Night all.
