Gratitudes:
Today- working washer, dryer, heating system.
Wednesday – Joe gave needed hug when I finally accepted that NO dermatology practice in the state of Oregon offers general anesthetic for MOHS surgery. Nearest that offers “conscious sedation” is Portland, six hours away. Will have to make do with local, and perhaps an anti-anxiety rx if I can get one from PCP. Now THAT’s motivation to start meditation practice again. ;{
Welcome back @Shuleran Anita. Con VERY grats for taking off those 30 lbs. Hope the recovery pain eases up soon. ((hugs))
Lanette yours to Karen. Sure miss her.
Rori always happier when you pop in.
Carol, soon as Lanette gets that transporter fired up, I’ll join y’all on your sweet porch for tea.
Barbie SMH at what the neighbor said to Jake. Is the neighbor getting dotty?
Margaret I miss Mary from AZ too. “Press and seal” over the gas tank flap, who knew???
Beth well done!
Rebecca hope looking at your checking account with fresh eyes will help you balance. Like you it makes me crazy not to balance to the penny, but two months ago I made some mistake on our MasterCard bill and still can’t figure it out so just paid the difference (and ugh! he interest, not something we usually have.)
Welcome @KatherineMcCalla ! Many of us don’t do the “friend” thing but support each other here on this thread. Sorry for the traumatic life event. Joining mfp is a great step forward.
Lisa the pots!
Michele Hope the blood tests all come out ok!
Tracey hope you get a good nights sleep. Well done on completing another session. You are rockin’ it! the “enjoy them while you’re young” meme.
Hallowe’en candy, my one recent NSV was not buying ANY. Neither Joe nor I need it and no kids come down our dirt lane/up our gravel drive for it.

Barbara - Thinking about you and the Mohs surgery. Crossing fingers the local and some type of anti-anxiety (meds and/or meditation) does the trick for you. When is it again?
Allie - sounds like you found a newer car to possibly lease that suits you. Smart idea looking into insurance and other costs that sometimes aren't immediately evident. Do you know other folks who have leased cars who you could ask about their experience?
Barbie - you have a great neighbor letting you use her dryer. When mine went out several years ago, I actually did load everything up and take it to the laundromat - gave me an excuse to combine trips and run into the Ace Hardware next to it. Plus I like to people watch. Now that Kim and you ladies who live outside the US got me retrained, I hang most things on my big drying rack or put them on hangers and line them up on the shower curtain rod - even towels. Love it in the summer when I put the rack on the deck and I have hooks along the deck rail where I can put hangers. Sheets and comforters still need the dryer though. Yes, I can afford the electricity to run the dryer but using that drying rack gives me exercise I don't often get - carrying, bending, reaching. Channeling my mom who used her clothesline even in winter for some things when our clothes dryer broke and my folks couldn't afford a new one when I was a kid. And she had a clothesline strung in the living room where the heater was. She called it "the panty parade." At least I keep my rack in the laundry room when the weather is nasty.
Rosemarie - you are such a good foster mommy. Hope that boil water alert is over quickly. Good for you getting your Christmas shopping done! I've been thinking of getting started on it too. I generally send cards to my sweet neighbors, family members and a couple friends. I think I have enough cards socked away to last for years.
Check engine lights - the Subaru's tire inflation warning light has been on for years. The main doo-hickey needs to be replaced, $400. So I just put a sticker over it and check the tires before I drive off to make sure they all are well inflated. The Camry's check engine light is on because I never think to have the oil change guy do what needs to be done to turn it off. It's a change oil reminder. I saw how to do it on YouTube but now that I know what it is, I'm not worried.
There's going to be excitement on my private road today. A culvert that goes under the road near the main highway is being replaced so we're locked in - and no mail. I'll bet the old geezers and geezerettes like me will stand around and watch, lol. It's a quick job, should be all done by mid afternoon. Crossing fingers none of the underground utilities get in the way. I saw the location marks painted on the road, so I'm presuming that job got done.
Back later.
Lanette

Barbie I am shocked by the neighbor's response! I would let you use mine! Wow!
Rori What Annie said. We love watching you spread your wings.

We are hoping the dry weather will hold out until early this afternoon, because I want to get my one pot organised. Take out and repot the geraniums so they can overwinter in the shed. Then put new tulip bulbs in and last year's daffodil bulbs on top. It's my sole bit of gardening, but that pot is part of our indoor decor, as it's just outside the window. We have to put the bbq grate over it as we have a very inquisitive squirrel.
I did a bit of dusting behind the beds in the top room, in preparation for our visitors. Our cleaner doesn't get to it. I love my long handled fluffy mop! Ended up doing a few other rarely reached spots. Also removed all my long hair from the shower drain.
Today I have a washing up liquid receptacle arriving from Amazon. With all the decluttering I have been doing, I have decided I don't like the look of the bottle it comes in. If it was just me, I could put it away in the cupboard underneath the sink, but I can’t see John doing that. So, a nice matt black one is coming. I will enjoy it.
I'm still being quiet. I have some discomfort in my lower belly, but I still have three days of antibiotics to go.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
Margaret You gave me several reasons someone might say no, thank you.
Katherine Welcome! you did it once and can do it again.
RVRita Day of the Dead was big in the Philippines. I am proud of the changes you have made in your life. You sound more content.
Kim I was thinking baby monitors too. I am thankful that we do have those of you who have been caregivers to help in our journeys.
Beth Congratulations!!!! What a savings plus the pride of completion.
Yesterday I was thankful for the ability to get on the internet to assist in getting things done.
Today I am thankful for the things my body can do.
I struggled yesterday with updating price lists in the system at work. Some files are automatically downloaded by business system folks. Others I have to do. The ones that are excel I can do easily as I just have to rearrange columns in the proper order. Right now I am struggling to convert 2 rtf (?) files into one excel file. Why the manufacturer does that is beyond me! Machka? After work DH and I went to friend's house to collect old wood for bonfire at nephew's this weekend. Friend wanted wood gone. Delivered a full bed to nephew. L7ckily he helped unload, so I only helped load. Read magazine last night.
This morning I finished laundry and put away. Emptied dishwasher. Organized sock drawer. It was a mess that I kept saying I needed to do. One of those nagging things that doesn't take long once started. Caught up with y'all.
Now time to head to work.
Much love,

Morning ladies
Im awake, but takes me awhile to really get in the groove lol
Poor Miles his 2 year molars are coming in and he is miserable.
Yes ive spoken to quite a few people, and they like leasing..
I have a plan..to lease but put a hefty down payment down.. money talks.and if they want to sell a car im hoping they throw in a few things.4 -
Engine Lights ... In NYS, our vehicles won't pass the yearly mandatory inspection if there's an engine light lit up ...
Christmas Shopping ... I don't have much to buy this year, but I've been ordering a few things when I think of a good idea!
Christmas Cards ... I know most of you have discontinued the practice, but I still do send cards. And here's why ... people like my mother who are in assisted-living or living alone get very little mail anymore. My mom has me take her to her mailbox every time I visit and inevitably the box is empty. Her disappointment is very real. She is not tech savvy and text messages and emails are not practical for her. Even if you don't send cards to everyone, consider sending to those you know who might need to smile when they go to the mailbox. And I still send to everyone I know because the cost of a stamp and card is small beans once a year when it allows me to send people a reminder that I still think of them!
Yesterday I raked up wet leaves that got buried by the early snow. Today, I'm hoping the forecasted "high winds" will help me with the remaining! I'll still need to lift some of the heavy piles in the side yard. I'm also going to move my bird feeder inside the pool area as the deer are emptying it every night. I've been reluctant to do this because I don't want to find unwanted plants germinating in my pachysandra beds. But I'm a bird nerd and I feel bad that the birds come to the feeder and find it empty.
Have a great day!

Hey all! I have finally caught up! again. lol On Halloween morning, the weather forecast was for a "wintry mix" and possible up to 12 inches of snow/ice accumulation. I laughed at that. First snow flurries NEVER accumulated. The ground is still warm. Not so this year! West Michigan got a big (and early) dose of winter. The snow flurries started at about 9am. My little ones were all in costume and hyped up about Halloween. We were busy doing Halloween activities, so what was going on outside wasn't really noticed. By 1pm the grass was just barely covered with snow; but the snow still came down. I closed the curtains so the kids could nap. A couple of hours later, when naptime was over, I opened the curtains and the three year old looked at her little brother and said, "Arbor! We went to sleep on Halloween and woke up and it's CHRISTMAS!" In that two hours we got a good four inches of snow. We also lost power. So...by days end we had 7 inches of wet, heavy, snow in the yard. Power was out until about 4pm the following day; so no childcare. I was able to do some cooking (gas stove/oven) and cleaning and stayed warm with a few layers on (thank you menopause). I got my first winter workout in (one hour shoveling) and have been feeling THAT for the past couple of days! I am also still recovering from that weird cold with a cough that just seems to hang in there forEVER! The worst part about the cough is the teeny peeing that happens sometimes. Ugh! The laundry. On the flip side to that issue; three of my childcare families/parents are physical therapists and gave me some great pelvic wall exercises to do.
NSV: It has been 60 days of no daily alcoholic drink! Note, I am NOT abstaining completely. I am just getting off the daily drinking bus. I did have one beer when I went to the movies with my son and had one glass of wine after I made pot roast (which takes 1 1/2 cups of wine) and onion soup (which took a cup of wine). That left about 5 ounces so I had a glass with my soup. I am pretty proud of 2 drinks in 2 months.
Heather - Hope you are feeling better. The cycle mud race looked like it was enjoyed by everyone! Mud makes everything more fun!
Rori- Good to hear from you! Glad you are still in contact with your special friend. Steward Copeland! Eeeek! My teen heart just went "thump-thump!"
Rebecca- Your trip went splendidly! I am glad you got that time with your grands and other family. special for sure!
Allie Miles is adorable as always! Looks like his baptism tuckered him out. I am sure you will make the best choice for you when it comes to your car.
Cars DH and I had such horrible luck with used cars. We definitely could not afford new; but all of the used ones we got turned out to be horrible with hidden issues. We began to lease cars back in the early 2000's. Mini vans and later Jeep Grand Cherokees. It really didn't cost us much more than owning our own car. As long as we kept up a regular maintenance program for the car, the other repairs were paid by the auto leasing company. Then, after two years of leasing, we had the option to continue leasing what we had or to trade it in for something new. When my DH lost his job about six years ago, we went down to one car and decided to buy out the lease on that one car. It is now paid off, we know it's complete history, have taken care of it and are having no troubles (other than running into the odd deer or turkey). We will drive it until it dies. A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Because we both work at home, we only put about 25-50 miles on it each week (sometimes less). One tank of gas lasts us for quite a while. My DYS has a 1995 Jeep Wrangler. It is beat to hell; but he loves that thing. We live in a beach community, so in the summer, he thinks he is the *kitten*! lol
Monitors- Either baby monitors or a ring doorbell system or something of the like. My daughter has the Ring doorbell system. It alerts her and her hubby by phone (notifications) when someone is at their door or near the home. They also have cameras set up in the living room and kitchen. They are set to detect sound/rather than motion (but motion is an option). They can access those cameras at any time by their phone. I imagine you could put the cameras in bedrooms as well. My aunt had a system in her home; set to detect movement in and out of rooms. If presence was detected in one room for longer than a set amount of time; a notification was sent and cameras would be accessed. This allowed her, her privacy; but if it was the middle of the night and she was in her kitchen for a long time, or had gone outside and not gone back in, help was notified and on the way if needed.
More of you I wanted to reply to, but I need to scoot. I am working, but just have infants today and they are waking up from their morning naps. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -

For me it was important to me to figure out why check engine light was on. If it blinks then you know it has to be repaired. I guess with a capless intake there is routine maintenance that can prevent the problem. Who knew! At this point I will use the glad press and seal to solved the problem.
Macha This is how I recently handled an uncomfortable situation.I volunteered in the third grade I helped out last year on Wednesday. The day after Halloween. Turns out the teacher was sick. When you go into a school building today you have to get a temporary badge. I like to carry mine rather than put it on because the sticky stuff leaves a residue on my clothes. Unfortunately when I go to the class I laid the pass on my coat thinking I would not be leaving the class. Within minutes two boys left together to go to the bath room. Knowing them I know it was best to follow. The principal caught me without the badge. She scolded me and those in office even though they told me to wear it. I was uncomfortable when I left. My solution was the next day I bought a flowering plant for the office staff, the principal , and the teacher who was sick. I wrote how I appreciated them for all their hard work they do for the students. We all concluded we are here for the students. I left with a smile in my heart.
Beth You are correct you should not eat or have any part of the leaf in the juice if you drink it. No putting the leaf in a blender for a smoothie. Only use the inside sap as a salve or to eat.

Happy Friday morning from the sunny climes of Arkansas,
Back home from the doctor's appointment, thank goodness. Tired of running around, this is my fourth day in a row!
Test results were good nearly across the board and my bone marrow is producing red blood cells that are the right size instead of too few and too small, so holding the anemia at bay (yay!). Still some markers of inflammation showing up, but that will be lifelong when the Crohn's is in full swing. Overall, a good visit. He suggested in addition to the pain meds that I visit the acupuncturist now on staff there, and will send me a referral. Needles never bothered me, so I'm more than willing. Should be interesting.
They've also installed a vision and hearing clinic at the VA here, and no referral needed, so I got a vision appointment for January. That will save hundreds of bucks, so it's a very happy thing.
Read everything, retained not much, so just know that, as always,
Love y'all!

Carol-Add me to the list that loves your porch.
Allie-Do what's best for you on the car, but keep in mind what you'll be giving up in terms of finances. A car is just a way to get from A to B. My license and insurance costs went up significantly with a new car and I hate the worry about who's going to ding or scratch it when I park in a lot.
A story:
When we were in Greece, we rented a car in San Torini. The streets are super narrow, there are people everywhere walking in front of you and the buses take up the entire width of the street. When we rented it, we knew it was going to be hairy. The car they brought us was old and beaten up and I loved it! I didn't have to worry about banging it up.
At this point in my life, I am far beyond needing status symbols or anything fancy or fast (the mister wants a car that goes fast; just so he can sit in traffic, I say). My car sits in the garage most of the time and I actually prefer walking or biking where I need to be when possible.
Rori-So nice you have someone who makes you happy and who you look forward to seeing. I miss the "firsts" and butterflies of dating, but I don't miss the dating experiences overall and don't want to do it again.
Terri and Heather and everyone else across the pond-Hope you're all good to go after the storm.

We had a Waitrose delivery this afternoon. No substitutions!!
I chickened out of the flower pot today, as it was freezing cold and my lower belly was hurting. (Slightly improved right now) I went up for a nap, and when I came downstairs, John had done the geranium part. Except he had done it very differently to how I would have done it! (This always happens. I assume he has the same vision as me, and I'm sure I've explained it, and he sees something completely different)
I had asked him if we had any pots, meaning the cheap/free plastic ones. He said yes, meaning the big terracotta ones. Of course, I knew we had those. So he put the three plants in the posh containers. Then he put them in the pitch black garage, when I had said the shed, which has windows. I think they need at least some light for overwintering!
He hates being 'criticised', which I didn't, just pointed out the error. I said we could move them tomorrow. Then I saw him staggering up the garden with these three very heavy pots. (One at a time) Oh well.
I don't know if they will survive the winter, as we have always thrown them away in previous years, but I thought it was worth a try. I'm following the instructions of the UK'S favourite gardener, Monty Don, whose Gardener's World is on tonight.
This kind of thing always catches me by surprise. John sees one thing. I see another. It always gives me an 'Oh!' moment. How can two people have the same information and see it totally differently!
Sea bass with masala peas and broccoli for dinner.

I went to my Gastro yesterday and asked about why my tummy feels like it is all inflamed. Not hurting really just weird, She told my that my colitis must be spreading and has be taking 2 of the expensive budesonide pills a day until I see her in February. Overall she said that this was normal, especially since I was doing good for a while with no meds, then a flair up. So, bathroom is my friend today with tummy sore. Oh Well 🤦♀️ I have to laugh at my DH though, he won’t accept that it can’t be fixed and is something I have to live with, so he comes up with excuses for the flair every time. Allergies, and dust are the usual culprits. He tries to fix or come up with a why for every little sniffle, sneeze, ache or pain. It’s kinda cute. He wants to fix it for me..
Car Insurance Someone was surprised at a $140 monthly insurance bill, I pay $148 for my 2018 Subaru Outback an month and only $48 for my RV that I live in. I am in NM, a depressed state so I can imagine it being a lot higher in a place like New England.
There was more I wanted to comment on, but flew away. Have a great day!

Good morning, ladies.
We have had a few days of milder weather. Still below 0 Celsius and our snow has pretty much disappeared. Getting just a few flurries this morning but they are forecasting snow Sunday. DD and family are coming for a visit on Sunday so hopefully the roads will be ok for travel. They live in Edmonton so about an hour and a half travel time.
Made pastry this morning as I want to serve a pumpkin pie with supper for them. Was rolling it out for the pie plate and realized that I forgot to add the sugar. I’m hoping it still will be ok. Don’t think it will make a big differences as it is 2 teaspoons of sugar in 5cups of flour and the pumpkin filling is sweet….at least that is what I’m trying to convince myself of as it is too late to do anything about it. Hate when I make errors like that. Just about had a problem with my pumpkin filling also. Had a small pie pumpkin that I cut up and decided to cook it in my new Ninja Speedi as it has a steam and bake function. Set it up for 30 minutes and decided to check it at the 20 minute mark. Pumpkin pieces were all cooked and a few were getting brown roasted marks on them. I cut off the roasted pieces and puréed the rest….turned out nice and I have exactly 2 cups in the fridge. Will make it tomorrow evening.

Are the files rft? Text files of some sort? Is there any sort of character separating the columns? Or are the columns a consistent character length? If so, getting them into Excel isn't difficult.
Or are the files pdf? If so, that's a bit more challenging.

So sorry!0 -
Car Insurance Someone was surprised at a $140 monthly insurance bill, I pay $148 for my 2018 Subaru Outback an month and only $48 for my RV that I live in. I am in NM, a depressed state so I can imagine it being a lot higher in a place like New England.

I got ours down to about $65/month for the most used van and about $50/month for the least used van.

Karen, so very sorry for your loss. Your brother was very talented and I enjoyed his art. Thank you for sharing it with us.
