Thank you everyone!
I have had a beautiful day. I opened my presents from my siblings and running partner after my run. I worked on cutting down my canna beds, then raked in the front yard. Also worked on decorating the Christmas tree. I have had my two carrot cake sandwich cookies and my pint of halo top birthday ice cream.
Devotional and two shirts from my sister
Time capsule with the books that were best sellers the week I was born from my brother.
The funny is that my brother thought the time capsule was a great idea, until he saw the books for my time. One is "The sensuous woman", the other is "Everything you ever wanted to know about sex." He was not going to order mine, but after he told me, I asked him to do it anyway. I think it is hilarious!
He also gave me some gummies bears to use on my runs.
Wacky waving inflatable tube guy from my running partner. It is what I said I felt like during the race in October.
My neighbor had gone to Canada a few weeks back and brought me back a bottle of maple syrup in a leaf shaped bottle!
Going to order some new running shoes as well...you knew that was coming9 -

The weather has been awful all week. Windy and non stop misty rain so this evening was my first chance to get out. The wind was still there but the rain was gone and I felty achey with the cold when I got home but it was still great!
Happy Thanksgiving to all the USAβers!
Happy Birthday π₯³ @AlphaHowls
On the maths topic - I do love a spreadsheet too π . My sisters tease me I will create a spreadsheet for anything. Iβm a self employed accountant8 -

@AlphaHowls - time capsule idea is great! Love that those books were included!
Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday!
All - pretty neat that so many in this group are somehow math connected - always have been impressed with people in the engineering field, accounting and management positions. So many ways to branch out from math. I guess running and numbers have always been a part of me.8 -
Happy Birthday @AlphaHowls ! Freezing fog is so pretty. Love the birthday gifts you got. Those books are hilarious.
Nice running everyone! And Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrated today.3 -

I had time for a run this morning before heading out for my second Thanksgiving later today. Nothing newsworthy. Watched "Sister Act" while running. I've seen it a "million" times, but still think it is cute.4 -

Shite run under not great conditions. Rather stormy with stronger gusts of wind and some sleet/icy rain. Brrr... Freezing now as I never got warm during this run.7 -

I was very excited preparing for a race, then I got really sick three weeks before it (COVID? I tested negative) Additionally I'm really heavy, and with this last nine months of running, my weight has been rock solid stable, no change. Mix it all up, and with exasperation, and disappointment I took time away to reevaluate.
I've restarted yoga this month, which had been a very big part of me having a good life. And, shockingly, my one mile run today was in the morning before work. Can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm mixing things up.9 -
Way to go @chris_in_cal on reevaluating your goals and finding a way to keep going. That takes strength.
Very happy to see everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! Good running too. I got caught up with family stuff and didn't get a chance to run yesterday. But got up this morning determined to do something. So I found a nice route near my son's new house that went by a golf course and around a small lake. Then met the family at the neighborhood pickleball courts. We played for about an hour. Then ran 2 miles back to his house. It felt good after having 2 days off and a belly full of food π
So got in a total of 6.4 miles, bringing me to 1991 for RTY...The year my daughter was born. Wow, seems like all my milestones are both terrifying and wonderful at the same time π©π

Hi everyone! I was planning on going for two runs today. One at my usual time and one long one in the evening during my sonβs soccer practice. Even though the weather was wet, rainy, and fairly grey this morning, I got in 10km. I was just so excited that I found my headphones again this morning before my run. I had misplaced them on Monday and had turned the house/car/office upside down looking for them. Itβs kind of hard to get motivated to go running in cold grey darkness (during daytime!!) and music/audiobooks makes it a lot easier on me! So I was very happy that I have them back. Of course I vowed never to misplace them again (weβll see how long that goes).
Anyways, after getting the 10k done I got a text that the soccer practice was cancelled, so no double run/high mileage day, but Iβm definitely happy with the run I did do .
So far 134.2km/200 for November. Iβve calculated the mileage I think I can reasonably get in before December. Iβm going to aim for 50km more for the home stretch. It wonβt quite be 200 but slightly more than last month.
Iβm glad to hear that you all seemed to have nice Thanksgivings/birthday!6 -
Ah, now I know why running didn't work: I'm feeling somewhat sick. Not been among people at all this week, thus lets see what's going on.4
-
Hey team, have been a bit quiet due to work and travels. Heading home after 5 days of meetings and catch ups! Have kept the km ticking over. Currently on 35 out of 60 km π―. Will try to add 10 more this weekend before a final push in the week. Have a good weekend, and happy thanks giving to those who celebrated this week!9

So- Got in a 12K (at 09"46).
@Zakkery86 whereabouts in England? I'm SE London!
Been here on this forum for about 14M now... @SummerSkier still hazes me like I'm the new guy! lol
@mnsmov15 hope you had a nice Diwali last weekend! where are you from?
Hey @tarun_yadavA - I live close to the βsecond cityβ, Birmingham! Grew up in Cornwall where most of my family (parents, siblings, grandparents, nieces, nephews etc,..) still live. Ideal for a cheap summer getaway π

2.5 miles today

I am totally impressed by the new folks who have successfully negotiated a tracker!!! I have been around a while and every time I try I get stymied. Maybe you have inspired me to try one more time. π³π€£π³π
Well my HRV and RHR are still not where I would like according to the tech. Yesterday I even did a really light day and kept my HR below 120 all day (which is hard for me!) but since it did not seem to have an effect I just decided on such a PERFECT running day (if a little chilly) that I was going to run.
Up to 126 mile out of 100 goal for the month.

24-Nov-23 7.27 126.36 1416.21Then I spent the rest of the day sorting out my internet connection which was gone when I got home. Of course my cable modem was circa 2015 and my wireless router circa 2005 so hard to tell which was the issue. Amazon delivery to the rescue with a new router but in the meantime I did my black Friday outing and went to the Spectrum store in the Domain (shopping center where it moved from last time I exchanged the modem) and got a new modem also.
I thought I might get away with just the new modem but even tho the internet came up briefly it was gone quickly even tho the modem said connected. That actually turned out to be a lie (grrr) but I setup the new router and it was interesting that it also was not getting internet. Then out of nowhere a Spectrum webpage appeared and said it had to complete the new modem setup. How did it do that with no internet connection? Magic I guess. Anyway once that did it's thing the internet came back which it might have on the old router too but π€·ββοΈπ€·ββοΈ in for a penny in for a pound. The trouble shooting was beginning to give me a headache between putting lan lines into everything etc.... Of course as SOON as I got my work computer up and running it said it was going to auto reboot to setup the monthly security push updates. π€£ππ€£ππ€£π€£π€£π€ͺ
Surprising how many things run off your wireless router and have to be changed to the new one. π₯Ήπ ANyway all sorted now and even the Smart TV is back to being smart.

@AlphaHowls - what great birthday presents! I love the time capsule books. It made me LOL!
@Laurz9191 - so glad you found your head phones! I got tired of misplacing mine so I have one place where I put them when take them off and that is in the case in the room where I keep it plugged in.
@chris_in_cal - glad to see you back. Know that we are here to support and motivate you whenever you need us.
@SummerSkier - you may find with the new router and modem that things run much faster. The newer routers have faster/more reliable protocols so that should be a benefit you will see maybe with your PC and for sure with your Smart TV.
No formal walk for me yet today but we may go out after dinner. We went up to our local apple growing country today for the Apple Butter festival. It was way busier than I had imagined it would be especially since the forecast was for cold rain. Well it was fairly cold, 46F and overcast but no rain. We did a lot of walking, bought some apple cider and apple butter but I was disappointed that for a festival for apple butter there was only one store selling any and none of the demos that were advertised. The lines for the restaurants, apple pie bakery and hot cider were an hour+ long so we even passed on all of that. In total we walked just over 2 miles and 5000 steps.I'm going to get out tomorrow and Sunday to walk but will likely not make my nominal goal for the month since I have my next treatment on Monday.8 -
Morning all
Got in 10K (at 09"19 pace).
@shanaber lovely pics
@chris_in_cal get back on it Sir!! π
@Zakkery86 nice to meet you mate! Welcome! If you stick around - could double our π¬π§ contingent to 2!
@eleanorhawkins is English too... But she's gone all Patatas Bravas on us π7 -
MFP newsfeed has gone all stupid today. In any browser. π§ So here looking at fabulous photos. That DARK grey sky and the autumn gold/red tree is magnificent @shanaber good luck with treatment on Monday and hope you are able to get some walks in this weekend. I remember having apple butter as kids. It was a treat on buttered toast for sure.
Question of the day: What is everyone's FAVORITE type of apple. I used to be a Gala (well Bandit's anyway) person and when we were kids it was MacinTosh. My Mom always made baked apples with the tart Green ones. But these days if I eat any apples it is always Honeycrisp. Texture, taste. etc.. perfect! π
@tarun_yadavA that's a nice speedy 10K for you today! Under an hour for sure if I can math before coffee. πππ
@chris_in_cal welcome back. So sorry you have been sick and not able to do much. Changing things up and trying different approaches sounds like a win to me! I have never been much of a yoga person as holding poses and such and balance is definitely not my wheelhouse.
So I still don't know why my heart rate is so high when I am sleeping and I have been waking with a headache also. I assume it's from the heater running. As fresh air helps. I have a CO monitor and it doesn't go off but I should probably get a basic air analysis thing. It doesn't feel too dry. What was that thing in the last 90's everyone was checking their house for Radon? Can I blame that?
@quilteryoyo I am anxious to see just how many thanksgiving dinners one person can attend... ππ You are doing great getting some activity in tho. I would be a blob rolling around from one feast to the next. And CONGRATS on finding a solution for the race. I guess Tippy is going along. Make sure to double and triple check the fenceline before you let her roam.6 -
@SummerSkier π
Pink Lady > Jazz > (then other end of spectrum) Grannysmith
I hate *hate* biting into an apple an it being soft and mushy on the inside5 -
@SummerSkier I eat a honey crisp apple every day. Can't really stand anything else. BUT one week the store was all out, so I tried a Cosmic Crisp. Surprisingly it was just like a honey crisp! And a bit cheaper π5
-
That sounds like a tough run @yirara ! I'd still be cold.
@chris_in_cal I feel your pain when you are doing all you can and the scale doesn't move. I've been there, done that and it is hard to continue. Sounds like you have reevaluated and are getting back to what makes you feel better. Mixing things up to find what works for you is great. Congrats on running before work. I'm not a morning person either, but if I can get in my workout early, it makes the rest of the day better.
Nice running at your son's @Scott6255 AND pickleball. I have yet to play that sport, but people keep saying I should and it is fun. Did you enjoy it?
@Laurz9191 Nice running and glad you got in the 10K early. Glad you found your headphones. I hate it when I misplace things, which happens all the time. I can lose things when I never leave the room. LOL
@yirara I hope you are feeling better! There's a lot of stuff going around right now.
@Zakkery86 You did great keeping up the running while away from home!
Great running @SummerSkier . I find that my HR varies a lot. I think it depends on how tired I am, how much sleep I've had, eating, etc. So many things go into it that, which I never thought about before I started running and keeping track. I gave up on the ticker too. It used to work for me, but lately it gets stuck in a refresh cycle and won't let me pick a ticker. I got tired of trying and it's weird that it doesn't do that for everyone. I wonder if it's the browser I'm using? Glad you got your electronics back up and working. That can be so frustrating.
@shanaber You did a lot of walking, even if it wasn't constant. Those skies look ominous, but pretty at the same time. Sorry that the apple butter festival wasn't all it was advertised to be. I hope your treatment goes well.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA .
I am a Granny Smith girl and agree with @tarun_yadavA about hating the texture of a soft apple. I prefer tart and crisp.
@SummerSkier If you count all of my feasts, I had four! One the first Sunday of the month as a fundraiser for my aunts church, one with my cousin in assisted living a week ago, and two this week. Surprisingly, I only gained 2 pounds since last Saturday, and I'm thinking at least part of that is water weight from having more salt than normal. Now for a week or so of leftovers, a couple of weeks of decent eating and the race, and then Christmas dinners and New Years. This time of the year is so hard to eat "right," but I just enjoy it and do better after the first of the year.
6 -
@SummerSkier - I am a honeycrisp gal too. I had never heard of or seen them before my DD moved to the PNW and I would normally go for Pink Ladies then. Now we can find honeycrisp pretty much everywhere. I love them sliced with peanut butter!
I also will only use Granny Smith for baking, apple pie, cakes, etc...7 -
Iβm a honey crisp, gala, and Granny Smith kind of gal.4

OPAL when I can get it, used to love Golden Delicious, but hard to get. I always fall back on Granny Smith (due to price)3 -
@SummerSkier Honeycrisp is perfection. I also like gala, pink lady, jazz. Granny Smith is really good with caramel dip. I eat a lot of apples this time of year while they're in season.tarun_yadavA wrote: Β»I hate *hate* biting into an apple an it being soft and mushy on the inside
Absolutely! That grainy kinda soft texture is gross!4
