When I was on a mission to lose weight in 2015, I weighed and logged all my food here on MFP. Every single thing ... even cough lozenges.
I also exercised a lot and tracked that too.
And every single day for 15 weeks, I always consumed fewer calories than I burned. There were absolutely no "cheat days", "take a break" days or anything like that despite the fact that those 15 weeks included my birthday, Easter, etc.
At the end of 15 weeks, I had lost 15 kg.
I took a 1-month break then to visit Canada, but when I returned to Australia I resumed what I was doing and lost another 10 kg.
I know, when I am ready, I can do that again. 😀

That's a lot of weight! Congrats.
It took me back to what I had been most of my life.
Sadly, 3 years later, after my husband's accident, it came back. Since his accident, I've been focusing on a lot of things other than my weight.
From here (early 2015):
To here (mid-2016 ... keeping it off):
And back again.

My relationship with my current husband (even though he has a severe brain injury and things can be a bit rocky at times), is so much more like the house below than my relationship was with my ex-husband ever was.
I'm glad I tried to make things better with my ex-husband. I'm glad I hung in there and didn't quit at the first hurdle. I have always been a little bit sad it didn't work out. But I'm also very glad I/we ended it when we did and I was able to get on with my life.
One thing that caught my eye in the house below was "make life dreams come true". One of the dreams my current husband and I had was to spend a lengthy period of time travelling the world, and we made that dream come true in 2012. We spent 8 months travelling and cycling around Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, France, the USA, Canada and western Australia. We called it our first "retirement".
I am so incredibly glad we did that!! I don't think we could do it now, especially with my husband's brain injury, but making that dream come true created shared meaning for us which has strengthened our relationship.

Any tips to get DH to understand that he needs more protein? I made him a small salad (romaine and cheese) for his lunch today (that is what he wants- boring) and told him to eat some of the lasagna for the protein. Nope, he said it was late and he would just wait until dinner. I don't call 130 late....so from what I know he had a bowl (one packet) of quaker oats for breakfast and that boring salad today. I am unsure as to what else he munched on. His A1C was 6.0 last visit. He needs to lose 30 pounds and watch the darned simple carbs. I try to feed him healthy. Tonight's dinner was homemade bison burger (his was half pound on bun, mine 1/3 no bun), microwaved baby potatoes with olive oil, and beets. He was full! I know....all I can do is continue to give him the information. It is his decision. I can only provide him with good choices, but they are still his choices to make. Maybe I should set him up a profile on MFP to track foods.......

Romaine and cheese sounds all right to me!

Ginny - it’s always tough when you know a staff member is doing something good for them but you don’t look forward to knowing how it affects your workload.
Annie - I don’t think we did newspaper obituaries for any of the deaths in our family for probably the last decade. We just used the funeral home online obituaries to share.
Lanette - I hope all of your services stay active during the storm.
My family in NB just went through a long time without power the week before Christmas. My brother has a generator because it happens so often. My poor MIL really needs one, but she wouldn’t be able to set it up anyway.
Lisa - Thanks for the reminder about the tears. It’s such an overwhelming feeling when you can’t do something to help your children on your own.
I’m really hoping this is a much better year for them.
We are getting snow today. It’s good because we sure need it, but I still don’t like seeing it.
I so agree about keeping for future generations. That’s how I was able to make things with Grammie’s dress and jewelry. My girls both knew my grandmother and those things mean something to them. She won’t mean anything to my grandchildren, but maybe they’ll remember the story of where the stuff came from in the frames their mothers leave.
Barbie - my daughter’s dog chewed through a couple of her beds before she stopped chewing. Annie looks very comfortable in her new bed.
Kylia - overall a good report from the doctor. Vaping worries me, DH does it for “non cigarettes” and I worry about his lungs with it.
Allie - I wanted to go to Dollar Tree today. The weather is keeping me local to my town though. I don’t know why we can’t get one here.
Heather - I hope you have no lingering effects from your fall.
Sounds like a lovely day all in all.
What a thing for the skylights. Such a pain.
Kylia - I had the same problem with my DH for the longest time. I quit trying to mother him. Which is what I felt I was doing by saying what he should or shouldn’t eat. It made our relationship better and the doctor is the one that tells him what to do now.
I think that it’s ridiculous that your SIL doesn’t seem to do much while she’s there.
Rosemarie - I recorded tonight’s episodes I’ll probably watch them over the next few days.
I’m with you on the lack of exercise. My foot is just so inflamed I can barely stand to walk from one room to the other and we live in 720sq. ft.
My daughter’s GoFundMe made $2380 in just less than 24 hours. I donated 21.00 to get them up over the 2400 mark in 24 hours. I can’t afford to do a lot at once but a little at a time is doable. I put this in Ember Thedog’s name (their dog).
Then to continue on with my emotional ride this week, my very BF since grade 2 told me she will be arriving in Edmonton on April 4th!
I don’t know if I had mentioned that the assignment I submitted on Sunday night I was so concerned I was missing something that I sent a message to the instructor telling him I struggled and didn’t feel like I had been taught what I needed to do it.
It was 6 case studies of children in very troublesome situations with their negative behaviours. Most of them were children who had been in and out of the system one of them even had an open court case. We were asked what to do in these situations. I kept stating I would get help, if they had a caseworker I would notify them. I would make detailed logs of their behaviours, etc. I got the mark back today and had 100%. I think my problem is “how do I fix this” even when I know I can’t I need to try and just getting someone else to me is not even attempting to fix it .
This is a problem I’ve always had, I want to fix the world and become frustrated when I can’t. There is my insight into myself for the day.
I think I’m going to head to bed.

Our boiler has gone out!
I left it on all night because of the temperature dropping, but, at some point in the night, it went off. I've rung a boiler man, a friend of one I've used before, (he's on vacation) and he says he can't get to us until after 3 pm. I'm to ring him again then. We do have an old electric radiator, which I've retrieved from the garage, so we can shut ourselves in the living room. Ugh! I hope he can fix it. Most of the suppliers shut around 4 pm.
I played the elderly card. I'm all dressed up for the Arctic.
G's blood results for her skin thing have come back 'Abnormal ', which is what we suspected. Autoimmune thing. She has an appointment at the hospital tomorrow.

Kylia-I sent you a friend request. I live just east of you I think (I am 45 minutes west of CBus). If nothing else I am wanting a trip to Town and Country for TraderJoes and Roederers. I have been thinking a coffee might be nice. In terms of husband and diet-you being a role model is about all you can do. My husband would eat healthy (or relatively slow) and then top the day off eating an entire key lime pie. He told me once he was diagnosed with diabetes his sugar cravings went out the roof. I've not had sugar issues to date so I don't completely understand but I believe the struggle is real.
Pip-congrats on license. Did you have to get the Real Id one (the TSA approved thing?). I got mine a couple of years ago and you did need a lot of extra paperwork, and I have been in the Ohio BMV system for years.
Rosemarie-Congratulations on the Rev 4. I had a 2011 for several years and we liked it. They are dependable vehicles. Nice of you to help your BIL out.
Tracey-your assessment for the youth was right on track. Teachers are an integral part of a case plan for a youth. Once they have entered the system it is easy for people to just figure the case worker will handle everything. I don't think the Canadian system is that much different than ours-our case managers coordinate things for the youth and their families but they need good, up to date information so the correct intervention can occur.
Heather-hope boiler repair is quick and easier. Boilers for heat are really fairly simple machines. I keep a couple of small space heaters to use when it gets really cold to help my furnace-I can set them close to where I am sitting and it gets heat to my feet!
Heading out of town this pm. Will be at a state park lodge. It isn't a very long drive (2 hours). Rain has moved out so drive shouldn't be bad. I am leaving so I can get there before sunset (will be driving in the hills). Meet some colleagues for dinner tonight, Meeting all day tomorrow and finish Friday in time to make drive home before dark.
Going to get ready for work. Not working out this am since I have PT at 10 am. I need to be careful not to overdo things. We are making progress on foot! Modifying eating to accommodate less exercise at the moment, I know I will find the balance.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

The FDA Is Investigating Potentially Serious Side Effects of Weight Loss Drugs
https://www.verywellhealth.com/fda-examines-anti-obesity-medication-side-effects-8423679
"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating reports of serious side effects from GLP-1 receptor agonists, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, that have come through its Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). There have been reports of side effects like hair loss, aspiration, and suicidal ideation that may be connected to the medications."

Pip- congrats on passing that test. We knew you would.
Kylia - Good job on the A1C. I'd want my D level at the high end during the winter. I enjoy hearing about your day at work. The little shop where I bought my battery operated weed eater and leaf blower is much like yours and owned by a great fella. I now have insight to what he and his help do all day. Very busy! Beef has a lot of protein so your DH might have done pretty well. I did everything I could to get protein into my husband the last year of his life, most days he barely got 25 grams and it was from hot dogs and ultra processed foods like Tyson's Chicken Strips. I could only do so much, he was in charge of his own fate.
Tracey - good job getting 100% on that assignment. You're a natural when it comes to working with kids. Hope you can find a solution to your foot pain.
Rosemarie - I'm sure you'll enjoy that new (to you) car. Looks like it has a lot of good reviews. Don't blame your brother for wanting your old Accord, bet it's in great shape. Crossing fingers they can get your heat fixed once and for all.
Barbie - Annie's new bed looks indestructible. We had a pup that liked to destroy beds too and I finally sewed a cover for the bed from Gore-Tex. It wasn't quite as cozy but it the bed survived.
Heather - so sorry to hear about your boiler. Hope the repairman can make it out ASAP. I'd sure play the elderly card too.
Electric Bill - If anyone is interested, here's my electric bill for December - they read the meter the first week of January. Total of 36 billing days at nearly a dollar a day to have the service. 1510 KWH used. I pay $.06819 per KWH, which I think is pretty good - we get benefit from the hydroelectric. So that plus some taxes - total bill due is $145.80. I keep the thermostat low and have a couple small space heaters running on low in the shop and one in the living room. Main source of heat - heat pump. I had a fire in the woodstove a few mornings to take the chill off.
Weather- I didn't lose power yesterday despite gusty winds, but I got heavy wet snow last night. Rosie gets a medal - she barked and woke me up at midnight. She rarely barks. I turned on the porchlight and saw the snow, got dressed and headed out to the chicken run. The tarps were sagging because snow weight. I got busy with the broom and pushed most of it off. The arches over the run which are field fencing and are covered by the tarps. Places are now bent down.
I anticipated that might happen and had some props ready and can easily get a few more put up today now that I see where the weak spots are. I have some other ideas too. I love engineering challenges that I can accomplish by myself. Good thing, huh.
Sue in WA - when Rosie woke me up I was dreaming about your septic tank.
Wishing everyone a safe and healthy day today and that problems get fixed!

Good morning ladies!
Prep for the memorial service is going well, but no one wants to do the eulogy. I keep feeling like the minister wants me to do it. Hmm.
I will take my Dad to the doctor this afternoon. He has been taking the pills in his daily pill boxes, but I'm not sure his thyroid pills are in there. I need to get the bottle out and check. It feels like I'm being intrusive, but he needs help.
Rosemarie Congratulations on your new car!
Pip glad you passed your test!
Kylia great doctor report!
Have a marvelous day my friends!

When you're the primary caregiver, knowing what's what with the medication isn't intrusive, it's a significant part of the job.
It might be worth making a list of your father's medication and the amounts he is to take, and comparing that with what is in the box.
It might also be worth taking that list with you to the doctor's.

Im awake rain done,still a bit windy.2 -
Heather, I hope your heat is fixed soon. Good for you playing the "elderly card". You've earned it.
The storm was mild here yesterday. Some rain, a gust that shut the power off for a moment, and a lot of small debris in the streets. I took a short walk in the evening just to enjoy the fact that it stays light a bit later.
Today sunrise is a minute earlier than yesterday and will continue to get earlier. I notice the daylight in the morning at the end of my walk.

PIP: Congrats on passing the driver's test. I have a friend who had to take it 3 or 4 times to pass several years ago. Your hard work was a good effort.
Rosemarie: Enjoy your new vehicle. Hope the sales rep will bring it to you.
Heather: Falling is not good. Glad you did not injure your wrist again. You are so lucky to be near your grandchildren. Mine aren't that far away (15 miles) but they are busy all the time and even though I love my DIL, she and her mom who lives right there are best friends. Must admit that I am jealous but just have to accept life as it is.
Tracey: Your insight into matters is inspiring. Glad your instructors are recognizing this and your great grades continue to happen.
Barbie: Your sign about fixing people is right on!
Lanette: The electric bill sounds very reasonable. We have a gas furnace and that really gets high in the weather. Our electric bill has not been about what we expected. Between the two, it's a lot of money.
