Thank you all for your caring hearts and advise. Lisa, you got me nailed. When I am stressed, which the funeral is this Saturday and I know I'm going to be ugly crying in church throughout the service, I do believe that is triggering me to binge. I got up this morning trying to encourage myself not to give up...AGAIN. I thought of the fact that in 2019 I weighed 271 and now I'm down to 180 ( just can't jump into that 170 level ), and I can still fit into a size 12, I can't give up yet. I HAVE to lose that last 40pds.10

Believe it or not it showered pinecones all over my property yesterday afternoon. I've heard of raining cats and dogs but not pinecones. We had about 15min snow squall with a heavy wind gust. It is freezing out today and I had to go out and rake these pinecones out of the driveway and walking paths around my house before they freeze to the ground. When you have to shovel snow and you get going at a good rhythm and hit one of those frozen pinecones it's like hitting a rock and it will stop you dead to rights. I think I could have filled a couple 5gal buckets by just what I raked out of my driveway. Oh the joy of living in the country.

Love your chart, Rita.! That looks like a fun project.
Well folks....drum roll.... I DID get my taxes done and submitted online!
What a relief!
Of course, it tried to tell me I didn't need to submit them, and, when I said I wanted to, it asked me lots of reasons why. At the bottom it said, 'None of the above', so I ticked that. For me it's a way of keeping my hand in. I've been using the same accounts book since 1990, so that bit is sorted, and I am always hopeful that I will start to earn some money, sometime. I used to earn more from my writing, and I had a rental property once, so I am in the groove.
I absolutely hate forms, and figures, so it's a struggle with procrastination every year. This tax year I missed the deadline for my usual paper return in October, so I had to register for the online in January.
Anyway, it's done, for another year.
My legs are really uncomfortable, even painful, today. No idea why. They are not usually bad in the day. I went out to the very local supermarket, and it was a struggle. My wrist hurts too. It will pass, I know.
John took the car out to recharge the battery. He decided to go up to Devil's Dy ke, as it was a lovely sunny day. He had a walk in the cold up there. We are hovering around freezing here.
Turkey risotto for dinner, using up the stuff frozen since Christmas.

LadyCop - You have my complete sympathy. Grief and stress are complete food triggers for us all. A lot of that is the years we've spent using food as a coping tool, rather than as a source of fuel or pleasure. If you're willing to take on a little advice, you might try to stop thinking you have to lose 40 more pounds, and just think about losing 5 pounds at a time. There's something about the larger number that will suck the want-to right out of you, but five pounds is something accomplishable. And don't try to do it in one week either! More like three weeks. It's actually harder to lose at your current weight than it was when you were heavier. Then do it again and then again. It ratchets down the stress level. You can do this. Just keep breathing.

MFP Weekly Check-In January 15, 2024
Evie in BC - The half pound that caught up with me last week left and it took a teeny little friend with it! Yay!
Sue in WA State - weight still 227. Missed water exercise this week due to septic issues and delivery of new dryer. Did yoga stretches 7 out of 7 days. Strength and balance exercises 3 of 7 days. 5 minute walks 2 of 7 days.
Kylia in Ohio - So apparently talking on the phone and logging are good for me! For the second week in a row, I have lost .8 pounds! I am so excited to see the losses. I have been walking and talking around the house and most days have been close to protein needs. Now to keep this up for week 3 with yall's help! We can do this!
Rita in Roswell, NM - Down another pound. Feeling good about that!
Lanette SW WA State – Actually lost a pound this past week. (Weight now 165.5# at 5 ft 8.5 inches tall). Hadn’t really been trying, had been eating plenty, and if it weren’t for my walking and high protein intake, I’d be worried about muscle loss. Still managing average of over 10,000 steps per day, mostly “house walking” with 5# weights in each hand, plus many trips out to check the hens.

Dear Margaret,
I am so sorry for your loss! You were there for him and were by his side when he passed. I am certain this meant a great deal to him, and in the months to come, you will find it comforting to you as well! I am very grateful to have been able to be with my husband when he passed, knowing that he was not alone!

No bowling today since it’s MLK day and the schools are off. Ceramics tonight, then need to stop at a friend’s house and then go to Publix since I have a coupon for a free ice cream and since we’re right up there…..
Dinner was nice with Ken & Lynette. Of course, there was lots of talk about Lynette’s operation, how she has only 5 small incisions. I didn’t mention about my friend in Switzerland who will probably have a lot more, it’ll be an 8-10 hr operation. In a way I feel bad for Ken, he really doesn’t do much. He was happy to be out. But yet, he can drive, I invited him to come over here, it’s not like it’s that far away. I guess we shall see what happens. I’m guessing that he doesn’t come over.
Heather – that was so nice of you to give your son that pot. Personally, at this time, I don’t think I would want something that heavy. Right now I’m grateful for my Corelleware.
Tracey – I know I’ve seen that poem before, but it’s still hilarious.
Barbara – talking to the neighbor about the tree is really not a big deal. I don’t think it’s necessary, but it really doesn’t matter. I think they’ll be happy to see it go
I don’t know what it is, but I am so tired. I’ll probably take a walk around the neighborhood and then a nap. This isn’t like me, I’m not one for naps. But I think I’ll take one today
Lisa – Vince and I don’t eat out very much. Mainly, because in that respect I’m somewhat of a cheapskate. To me, you pay a lot for not a lot. Or, if you get a lot, the quality is poor. As far as the snow: my feeling is “I’ll believe it when it’s on the ground”. Love the pic of the red bird against the snow
ladycop – fantastic loss. You CAN do it
Heather – yea for you getting your taxes submitted!!!!
Allie – we like the distilled water that you get at Dollar General. Just a nice bottle.,
Today and even last night, I’ve had some terrible cramps in my stomach. They come and go. Hopefully, the “go” periods will be longer and longer
Jess just called to say that she was bringing Shadow here. Personally, I would rather have just met her somewhere, gotten Shadow and be done with it.

I had purchased 2 inexpensive rugs off of Wayfair and a new tv stand off of Amazon. They helped put new bed supports on my bed frame and lay the rugs and finished putting together the tv stand. So 3 rooms have a different look and feel to them now. Having this done, decluttering and getting a new vehicle have me feeling a little anxious. I think I was set in my ways and not use to so much change. I think I will pause a little now and rest. My budget says it is time to rest!

Hi Rosemarie,
Sounds like your redecorating of your house went well! I also made changes recently to the den of our home, along the same lines, lighter and brighter colors. It feels more cheerful.

Returned to work today.
1st day of work in 24 days.
Brain shut down at 4 pm. All of a sudden my 3 computer screens contained meaningless scribbles.
I packed up and headed home.
Napping on sofa at home at 5:30 pm.
I was only going to nap for about 20-25 minutes but ended up asleep for an hour.
Going to bed early to give tomorrow another go.
I might work from home starting partway through the day tomorrow and for the rest of the week.

Machka,
Easing back to work after having had COVID is a great idea! It will give your body and your mind more time to recover and adjust to a more rigorous schedule.

Corey just called for his good morning call. It was a relief to hear his voice. On days like this, I'm glad the company he works for supplies him with a big 4-wheel drive truck! It looks slicker than owl poo out there, but he assured me that, with no higher temps to thaw the snow and then re-freeze after, the roads stay reasonably dry. Marrying an Alaskan comes with some unexpected knowledge nuggets!
You can see in the background the snow piled up on the rocks around Corey's garden. The temperatures are hovering around zero degrees (about -18C), most unusual for this part of the country. Probably doesn't sound like much to KJ in MI, or Beth in Buffalo and Joy and Tracey in Canada, but here, it's freezing our little bohonkuses off...
No real plans for today except to set my meds up for the week. Laundry, etc., already caught up. Just have to make the bed and get the dishes put away. Then I get to play, unless I can convince myself to vacuum or deep clean the bathroom. The chances of either of those are... slim. 🤪👀🙄😀
Hope it is/was a good day for all,
Love,
Lisa in AR
Lisa, we have a lot of snow here in Tennesee as well. love the picture with the cardinals on the snow!

Our next door neighbour has a leak in her downpipe from her bath. It pours out, down our front path and hers. Soapy water everywhere. A slip hazard if it freezes, let alone the damp. She had it mended by a cowboy a couple of years ago, but he hasn't come back to repair it in a hurry! Personally., I think the pipe is blocked. So did my boiler plumber.
Today I was outside saving our parking space when it started pouring, gushing, out from the joint and a tidal wave of soapy water descended our path and hers.
When John rang the doorbell, it was answered by one of her teenage grandsons. He was a bit gormless, and said she would be back later. Her daughter sometimes lives in the shed in the garden and the boys are home schooled, so often around. Pretty chaotic, but I don't think the neighbour is short of money. If anything, she is just too nice.
I get John to do these negotiations because I am inclined to lose my temper. I was quite angry seeing all of this dangerous water floating down our path. I suspect the boys had been having a sneaky bath while she was out.
We will see what happens.
Gave in and took Ibuprofen. Worked wonders, but I don't like taking it.
My son's underfloor heating has given up and the installer is on holiday, skiing. If it's not mended by tomorrow, we will have to bring Bea back here, like we used to. That means I won't be going, just John. It's a long walk. I will stay at home and prepare her dinner. She actually loves coming here,, but complains about the walk. Her favourite occupation is to lie on the sofa, deliberately taking up John's space, instruct him to get her his cuddly blanket, and then wear it as a tent, while playing with my tablet. Attagurl! She will go far.
I will take myself upstairs at 8 to watch Michael Moseley while John is watching his quizzes, and then come down to watch our recording of the latest Vera. I usually record the channels with adverts. The BBC doesn't have adverts.

Fridges. Like DrKatie, I hate having stuff on the fridge. It just looks so untidy and cluttered to me. My DDIL has some schedules on the fridge in their smart new kitchen, and I don't like it. I prefer a dedicated cork board , or a file. My important info is mostly on my phone, including tax stuff. . We do have one ceramic, retractable knife, for undoing Amazon boxes, on the side, but you can't see it, as it faces the wall. By the way, I love this knife, from Amazon.
I like a very uncluttered visual look. Sometimes the interiors of things are a jumble, but they are shut away. I am a Ladybug, according to Cass of Clutterbug.

Good afternoon everyone 👋
The Sun is shining today and that really helps me. I was able to put my full spectrum light away.
Thank you to Lisa in AR and Kylia in Ohio for your kind and helpful suggestions.
Heather in UK whoo! Hoo! About your taxes. I am dreading pulling all the paperwork together for mine.
I found the perfect workout for me today. It is from the Arthritis Foundation and on YouTube it is a 40 minute full body workout. I have been dealing with OA and fibromyalgia since I was 25, nearly 40 years. The right exercise without causing more pain is very helpful.
I hope all of you dealing with frigid temperatures and lots of snow get some relief and are able to enjoy the weather better.
Blessings to all, Hope in UT

Tina-- The dress is beautiful. Sounds it was a good time. Congradulations on the new family member.
Margaret--Hugs and Prayers. So sorry for your loss and glad that hospice was there to help!. Please remember you were a Blessing to him.
Tracey--What I am finding taking the pictures out of the albums is that they are falling apart and not good for looking at. I am hoping the boxes wiill be user friendly and if not in order in the box I have the years on the outside and the highlights of what is in the box. It is turning into a lot bigger job than I expected, but doing a little at a time and having fun looking at the kids as they were growing up and realizing just how much we did things with them.
Rosemarie--Decluttering is hard and you just take it as you can. Nothing wrong with lots of breaks. That is what I am doing with this photo project. A little at a time. I know it is hard for me to have to depend one someone else to do some of the things. Remember to breathe. Glad the handimen got things done. Now just sit back and enjoy the change.
Rita & Katiebug--I have a apple watch. I have it synced to my phone, MFP and our health app at work. I was surprised that the doctor could go back on my phone and see my heart rate for months. It showed all the spikes. DH gave me the watch for Valentines day 2 years ago, so I have no idea what it costs.
Well we have been having winter like when I was young. So far about 8-11 inches of snow and temps this last weekend was -18 with windchills -31. Was very limited it going out Saturday and they cancelled church yesterday. Because it came in 2 storms the men had to come twice to clean our driveway. We did go yesterday afternoon and take 2 of the grandchildren ( addie -15 and Aidan -14) out for awhile. Was planning on going to the movie, but it closed. So just went and had a late lunch and had a very nice time hearing about what is going on with them and school and friends. Just what we all needed. Their parents are the ones that can't decide to stay together or get a divorce. So we had a good time.
Came to work this morning and a pipe burst a cross the hall from my office and flooded the chapel, oncology pharmacy and a couple other offices. So they have been working on cleaning all that up. The smell is terrible, just glad it was not in my office area.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE where it is 3degrees and snowing.7 -
Sunny and warm already at 8:30 am. It's supposed to get to 29C / 84F this afternoon ... and windy which is not good. There will be bushfires.
I'm wearing a mask, of course, because of the COVID, and am finding it a bit hot.
Day 2 at work about to begin!

Thank you my friends. Been notifying friends and family. Planning and coordinating the funeral and spent part of yesterday with our son. Did get a better night's sleep last night. I am taking these new vitamins that also help. I am ready to meet with the funeral home. Knowing what I want and having son with me will really make a big difference dealing with the funeral home. Knowing my budget also is a big plus. They expect payment for the cost tomorrow. From talking to the cemetery where our plots are will save money. One is to not use the charge card. It saves 3% right off the top. Also they can do a vault that has a more open seal costs for less . Deciding to do an open vault also versus once that is sealed is a few hundred dollars.. Learning not to bury on a weekend day saves $600 in fees. I know they will show me the 10,000 casket first. Again I know a much more reasonable option. One is very vulnerable at a time like this so just like when going to a doctor when having a hard diagnosis it is important to have someone with you that you trust in a time thinking straight is more difficult. I will share more details about the service at a later date.10

Pip- at least you know his birthday. All 9 of our cats are formerly strays/feral so we don't know some of their exact ages let alone actual birth date.
Shopping this morning with dh for his mom and then for us. He worked last night so went after he got off, went to his mom's then came home-that gave me time to get up feed all the cats, clean up their messes and do a breathing treatment and rest before he got home- supposed to not go outside in the cold for 30 min. after one of the treatments so I stayed in bed and played on my phone.
Best deal shopping was a 13lb spiral ham that was on sale for $5!!! I will portion it out, have some on a big chef salad for my dinner tonight. The guys will be having pizza(dh is picking it up for his mom, that is what she wanted, and dh will bring the leftovers home for him and son).Dh picked up steaks so I will cook them tomorrow for him.3 -
Lanette- check this out for your chickens-
Shrink film from home Depot $20 for a roll you can do your house and the chicken tractor has no r value but at least keep the wind off of them. If you start the wrap on the bottom and then work your way up it'll keep the rain from going in
Use a crock pot from Goodwill to keep the water from freezing for the chickens

I hope the meeting with the funeral home goes well for you tomorrow. I hope you have a person like who runs the one that mom dealt with. They could have pushed for an expensive urn(dad is buried on their property, along with my aunt, uncle, and cousin, and mom wants to be buried there too when the time comes). The lady knew that dad LOVED birds and that he built tons of birdhouses. She suggested mom use one of the birdhouses that he built. Mom loved the idea- She brought it into them, they put his ashes in it and sealed it. It was perfect for him.
