And... here I am back again,
Wrenching myself back to my routines has been kind of fits and starts, but am getting there. Did yoga on Friday, worked out in the yard quite a bit of the morning yesterday, and plan on yoga once my gut has settled down this morning. Hopefully reasonably soon. Got my Fitbit charging - I was doing that every Sunday, but got off that schedule too.
Not the end of the world, all that, just understanding myself a little better and why these things are done on these days or at that time again. We get wound up in our routines to the point where we don't remember why we do these things a certain way or at all.
In general, though, simply glad to have my house and my schedule and my life moving back toward my normal. I'm OK with being set in my ways. Each way has a reason, and each movement and timing has a purpose. Funny how something that was an insult when younger now gets the response, "Uh-huh, what's your point?"
I know this sounds goofy, but I was honestly kind of glad that I had one of my really rough days (gut-wise) while my friend was here, and it let her know what I mean when I say I'm having a "bad day." And I had more than one "good day," while she was here, as well. It's also the first time in around ten years that she's come to where I live instead of vice versa. Having that clear picture lets her know where I am physically while I'm talking to her on the phone, and when I send her pictures, she will know what has changed here, too.
Amusing myself when working on my quilt by picking up all my favorite British shows again: Picked up AcornTV again to watch Brokenwood Mysteries, as season 10 has begun, as well as to pick up Midsomer Murders season 24. Sister Boniface has started a new season as well on Britbox, and we watch QI season U each Monday there, which I love with Sandy Toksvig. Wasn't fond of it with Stephen Fry as the host in its early years. Also indulging in whimsy with Black Books, a quirky little British sitcom from the early 2020s, on Freevee. Staying with the Commonwealth, just finished re-watching Corner Gas out of Canada. I think that's my third binging of all eight seasons of that show, if I'm not mistaken.
And... one more cup of coffee for Corey, and then I think it's yoga time. Hope it's a peaceful Sunday, all,

Happy US Mother's Day to all you moms of kids, grandkids, pets, livestock, spouses, etc.
Carol - I grew up with breakfast, dinner for the noon meal and supper for the evening meal.
Now, it's breakfast, lunch and supper for just me or dinner with others if that makes sense. Also, where I grew up, sweet carbonated drinks like Pepsi were "pop." My DH grew up calling them "soda" which I thought was odd. To me soda was "pop" with ice cream added. They say American English is a confusing language. I'll say - even confusing to Americans.
Sounds like a nice Mother's Day.

Heather - so happy to hear you are writing again. Your trip up and down the stairs reminded me of the Mother's Day dinner I went to yesterday.
Lovely home built on a hillside, a "split level" here in the US. Lots of stairs - there's no level entry to the house from the front or back that doesn't involve at least ten steps, a landing, then more steps. Great for a younger person who needs to keep in shape. Hip, knee or foot problems or surgery....not sure how a person would negotiate that.
Debbie - glad the sales were great and the items were a hit. Beautiful assortment!
Rebecca - very nice photos of your DMS and family. I too remember when Athena was born - your grands are growing up so fast. Crossing fingers the dishwasher is plumbed correctly. I know you are very anxious to get your kitchen back, don't blame you for being tired of the disruption.
Lisa - you are spot on with your observation about being set in our ways - our routines and habits developed for a purpose. I still have moments of questioning why I do this or that and realize - it's the way DH and I did it. So I decide to do some things "my way" and realize, in most cases, the old way is best. If and when I get a different house, then it will be all my way.
I decided to subscribe to PBS Masterpiece for a month and found a French series called "The Mountain Detective" set in the French Alps. The series focuses on a detective Alex Hugo, who is part of a small rural police agency. The scenery is stunning, plots and characters engaging. Even though they are speaking French, there are subtitles and it's easy to follow. I'm hooked.
Yesterday was so hot and windy. Much better today, will be on the mower this afternoon.

I had a lovely long chat with G today. Her sciatica is raging, but she really loved her trip to Paris and her Dior sunglasses. She hasn't dared get them out of the box in case she doesn't like them any more!
Mine arrived unexpectedly early and are fabulous
Very green As I am wearing a lot of navy, and black and white, this season, I am very happy.
They come in a sweet gold soft case.
John out at cricket. I had to abandon my plan of a lamb and sweetcorn curry, because it takes too much yoghurt and we're nearly out, but I will do lamb and lentil curry, with added broad beans.
Weather glorious.
Tracey - Your grandchildren so remind me of mine. After John lost his temper with them on Friday, Max said, "I apologise for exacerbating the situation. " :laugh:

Just got a new lot of photos from DDIL. This is the other hat Max chose for his birthday present. His parents were persuaded to pay for it, and they all went to pick it up today by train.
On the way back they stopped at the Sealife Centre.
Wish I could have joined them!

Question: How many of you call the evening meal supper. I grew up calling lunch dinner and the evening meal supper. All through my marriage I called the evening meal dinner but lately am thinking of it as supper.
Son and grandson came today and brought me roses and champagne! DIL and granddaughter are in another part of town doing soccer tournaments. I made the men folks fried ham, scrambled eggs, biscuits, and grits (brunch for lunch I guess). Anyway, they ate every bit. Grandson (aged 14) is now 6'2" and weighs 215 and boy can he put away the food. And, he still lets me kiss the back of his neck goodbye. Win, Win!

Did a Reebok Bootcamp DVD then went for a walk around the neighborhood. Came home and made chocolate bran muffins. It’s not windy so I’ll probably work on stringing popcorn (yes, it’s that time of year!)
Walked to Dollar General Friday to get some towels to make the crochet towel toppers. They were ½ price (and $1 each regular price). So Sat. after work stopped there and got more and some for us. At that price, even if they last only a few weeks, it’s worth it

Went to dinner with the train group last night. The food was “ehhhh”, I wouldn’t go back there. There were about 20 of us, they only had one server, and he had to wait on 3 other tables, too. Even Vince commented that none of the servers were smiling. Plus, they forgot about my meal so everyone got there's, one guy and myself had to wait. Plus, the chicken was very rubbery, the sauce wasn’t that good. Disappointing, to say the least
Got the rest of the ceramics put out yesterday except for the seven dwarfs. But I know exactly where they’re going. I’ll probably do that today.

Heard from my friend in Switzerland. That sanitarium has been good for her. She actually no longer feels that she doesn’t want to live. Plus..she’s talking about coming to the states. Will it happen? I doubt it to be honest. But it’s good that she’s talking about it

Glad I heard from everyone except DMD already today and it’s only 9:45 am here. Nice way to start the day. Called my Mom too, who was in a good mood too. Very nice morning. I hope all the mothers (pet moms too) have a great day today! DH is making me leg of lamb. Nice treat! He is such a good cook. He cooks all the time for us (lunch/dinner) and I am never disappointed. Campground busy this weekend, half the park is closed for construction, the other half is full and LOTS of kids this weekend! I bet beach will be full later as well. Everyone goes to the park for Mother’s Day! LOL ☺️

about ready to go to church- second load of laundry in the washer, dishes done that didn't get done yesterday(we were gone ALL day).
Dh woke up in a mood-mummbling about what he is going to get yelled at for when he gets to his mom's. I told him I had fed all the inside cats- his response- "I don't care". He came out of the shower and said "we(meaning me), needs to do laundry". Those are the only two things he has said. I have talked to him a few times but got no response at all. He left when I was putting the second load of laundry in. Doesn't say anything when he leaves most of the time now.
So, church by myself and then hopefully work in my garden a bit if it isn't too hot- 76 is the forecast.
Son is with his girlfriend so they will be gone most of the day I am guessing.
Not sure what I will cook for dinner- will figure that out later.
Dh usually doesn't do anything for me on Mother's Day because "I am not HIS mother"-

Well, I'm still grumpy. My mother died last December and my daughter won't speak to me. My dad won't even wish me a happy mother's day. He bought flowers and put them on the table next to his picture of mom.
So I bought myself two books and a tee shirt from Amazon. 😊

Several years ago my friend T starting giving me "Happy Mother's Day from the Dog" cards with some flowers. This year the card was from the dog, the cat and the hens. So why not?
And we wish you a Happy Mother's Day even if none of your relatives do.
