So as I mentioned this is my 2nd day. Finding that counting calories is a lot harder than counting points! I’m doing miserable! Tomorrow is a new day, thank you Lord. I hope to do better. I did manage to connect my Fitbit today, that was a chore. Forgot my password 😜. But all is well, changed my password lol. Here’s to a new day and staying within my count!0

Hi all!
Got back from my trip to the cape yesterday. Was a fun few days walking around, shopping, pool time, sunbathing (with sunscreen), and eating really good food. Back to work today but WFH and only doing a half day. Also, back to healthy eating. System definitely was like all this food mostly fish but it’s still thrown off.
Will need some rest from vacation and doggies need some time to decompress from not having me home. Oh and dentist appointment went well. Extraction date for molar scheduled eek. Pray all goes well.

That was good on sending your husband a message like that. Now in my household it would turn out "I couldn't find them". Which is why I have to go. I've trained him too well. Today I suggested what about you learning to cook. That can be a hobby for you. He replied, how about you take up the hobby of fixing the things around the house? (Like those have to be done 3 times a day EVERYDAY) Anyway..... I think your dentist is trying to make some extra money. LOL I keep hearing about dentists doing root canals and such when not really necessary to make money and then that is causing problems later for the patient. I hear you on the scale and losing weight. I'm trying to disassociate the scale and my good habits. My success is in my habits. I have been stuck at the same number give or take some ounces for more than a month. I'm looking for the NSV while continuing to be more consistent in my habits.
@Babytessie01 Welcome to the group! They always say awareness is the first step. I used to do WW then did carb cycling then did Healthi thinking it would help me eat more f&v (it didn't) then now I'm doing carb cycling while trying to stay within my calories and still working on the f&v. I have a perfection problem so a tendency to just quit if I'm not doing it right. I'm now working on learning to increase my f&v and other healthy foods and decrease my portions of unhealthy foods. It's the overall trend that I'm looking at. Have you tried tracking your symptoms and food at the same time to see which foods could be a problem? Maybe in the Notes section of your food diary you could keep track. Alternatively there's an ios app MySymptoms that I use that help narrow down possible suspect foods. The problem is I got tired of double tracking so it kind of went by the wayside until I have a problem again and then I'll start back up.
@cbabie Good for you for tracking. Your food can look pretty too. My chicken breasts are really just sauteed with some Everything but a Bagel seasoning sprinkled over it. That easy. The salad didn't take long either. You know me. I don't want to be spending too much time in a kitchen when I could be reading. So what is the treatment for your pain other than Tylenol and waiting it out?

@Babytessie01 I agree with @trooworld in that it takes a while to get used to calorie counting and the MFP app. @trooworld Too bad about the dentist expense. I have a lot of money in my mouth: 2 implants and a crown that had to be replaced. The weight gain really sucks when you think you are doing okay. I’ve been there and the only thing to do is to keep on trying. @gemw1010 Those were lovely pictures and it looks like you had a great time. Good luck with the dentist. @theslightedgeforever Thanks for the compliment. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We spent a lot of time outside which was nice. Dinner was leftovers. I did cook some squash from the garden and some Israeli couscous. My DH loves the couscous but I don’t cook it often as my son doesn’t care for it. DH has enjoyed being the center of my attention this week!1

@trooworld The chicken recipe looks good. I have all the ingredients for the chicken except the lemon so I’ll save the recipe for later. Hi, all. My children came home this morning at about 2 AM. They were supposed to fly home from JFK but their flight was postponed until 11 PM. They rented a car and drove home. I woke up before 2 and couldn’t go back to sleep until I heard my son come in the house. Today is a walk and bike day. I have chicken breast, green beans and red potatoes for dinner. I’m thinking of marinating the chicken in low-fat buttermilk and Ranch seasoning mix and roasting the potatoes and green beans with a little olive oil and Italian seasoning.0

@trooworld Wow, that’s a lot of steps! The museum, coffee shop, and bookstore were a great way to spend a day. I didn’t cook the chicken either. My daughter suggested we go out to eat so that’s what we did! We went to our favorite local Italian restaurant. My son is grilling the chicken for lunch. Hi, all. We are going to my cousin’s house for Father’s Day tonight. I have tracked what we will have. It’s a lot of food! Last night I ate some chocolate candy my son brought back from London. So good!0

@fabgeekmom I made a couple of butternut squash last night and will be eating them this week. I figure if they are ready to grab, easier to eat. Glad your dh got some intention. Your dinner sounded good. Did you use the LF buttermilk and ranch seasoning or was it ranch dressing? Too bad about your kid's flight.
@trooworld That's a good idea about a NSV book. Great job on your steps. At your work, do you sell gems and rocks or do you just categorize, etc.? Yes, chocolate from overseas is much tastier I think. I had to go look up that tonkatsu sauce. That sounds good. I'll have to try it next time with the chicken strips instead of just ketchup.
I finally broke my plateau. Lost 0.7 lbs this week.

Hi, all. DH and I went to Sam’s this morning. I got flank steak for tomorrow night and ribeyes for Friday plus some other stuff. Monday morning was a good time to go. I went for a walk and ride the bike. We didn’t cook the chicken yesterday. I air fried it as my son was too tired to grill it.0

@trooworld The chicken was good! Little Italy sounds like fun and a lot of good food! Hi, all! I went for a walk this morning and went swimming afterwards. That was too much and I’m feeling it. I’m not in a lot of pain but I can tell I overdid it. I won’t do that again. Tonight my son is grilling flank steak. I made a soy sauce and olive oil sauce to pour over it when done. I’m also roasting potatoes and cooking squash from the garden. My daughter and her family are coming over.0

Afternoon all, I just finished reading all the post. It's kind of like reading a good book. LOL. I haven't been doing the greatest and I got into a funk. BUT now is the day to start again. It's just so hot here. I did however buy a 15ft umbrella so maybe I will be outside more. We have 2 other umbrella's but they were 8 and 9 ft.
@fabgeekmom Glad your kids made it home and I agree, you are like the calm in our noisy lives. LOL

Umbrellas are a good way to have shade. I have one on my front porch. Hi,all. I exercised today but did not overdo it. I learned my lesson. My bad knee was acting up and I had to ice it. Today was a swim day. We swam at a different center as the center we usually go to is extremely busy with summer programs. This pool was larger and had more lanes. My son made dinner tonight. Homemade marinara with some meatballs we froze some time ago. Plus crusty Italian bread. And a few pieces of European chocolate for dessert.1

Morning all, I am up to a weight I haven't been at in a few months. UGH...so I have to keep at it and not go any higher. I think it's the part about too hot to go anywhere. I try not to get out of the house unless it's night or early morning...even then it's just a breath of HOT air moving. LOL.
@trooworld I am trying to get back to tracking...it's really the only way to know what I am doing. Yea for you with your water. Hope you and DH have a great day and he has a good day with his birthday.
@fabgeekmom Yea for you for trying a new pool. Did you like it? I love you have food that you freeze and can use on those nights when cooking is a chore..LOL
@gemwolf110 Yeah, I ate heating up my kitchen..I used to have a great toaster oven that did most things I needed, but I got new Christmas presents that I use a lot, (every day) but they don't have the oven like I used to. I miss it. Pizza's fit in nicely...LOL

@cbabie How about buying a sprinkler and you and the kids run and play in the sprinkler. That's still exercise.

@gemwolf110 Hello Happy Summer Solstice to you too. Whenever I see or hear about it it's a reminder of 1/2 the year is gone. Am I halfway to my goal like I had planned at the beginning of the year? Well in this case NO.
I'm reading a book called Thinner Leaner Stronger by Michael Matthews. Interesting points he makes. I reset my calories as according to him I'm not eating enough according to my weight. I've decided to give it a try in July. We're going up to Chicago on the 3rd and spend several days with some friends and then drive up to MN to see my daughter and spend time with her. It's getting time for our little vacation trips. lol I always do so much better on my health journey at her house than I do at my own. Well, the exercise part. I was alot better last year with my food than previous years so this one will be even better.

@trooworld I liked the new pool. It’s larger and has more lanes. They were having swim lessons but we still had a lane to swim in. Tracking on the weekend is really important. I know that I am stating the obvious. Get started this weekend. More than anything I like the feeling of being in control. @cbabie It is hard to exercise when it is hot. Are there any indoor exercises you can do? And get back into tracking. After all, weight loss is mostly what we eat. Hi, all. I went to the recreation center and worked out on the recumbent elliptical and then went grocery shopping. I bought ingredients for the recipe my son is making tomorrow. It is grilled chicken with cheese and a corn/ black bean salad with poblano peppers on tortilla chips. Tonight is steak night.0

@trooworld The meal at the Mexican restaurant sounds good. Good job on only eating part of it. DH and I will use the new center as a backup if we can’t go to the one we usually go to. I like that center as it is convenient and has a nice pool. The only problem in the summer is that there are lots of programs which leaves not much opportunity for lap swimming. Hi all. DH and I went to the center we usually go to as there were no programs. We had a lap lane to ourselves. In my area we are in a heat advisory. I went outside to look at the garden in the backyard and had to come in. I think my walking days are gone as it is too hot. Luckily I have my recumbent bike and a recreation center membership. I’m looking forward to the meal tonight. My daughter and her family are coming over so it will be fun.0

@fabgeekmom I'm glad you like the larger pool. The corn black bean salad sounds really good Seems to be hot everywhere. This morning I did my sunshine stroll on the treadmill without the sunshine. lol It was zapping my energy levels and then I didn't do anything.
@trooworld Actually history shows I gain 10 lbs for time I spend with my daughter. Last year was the first year I didn't and lost weight. I'm more consistent with exercise at my daughter's house. The only thing I can think about why is that I have a consistent time to go at 6:00 pm. Here we are usually eating dinner then and my son is home and that's about the only time I see him. My dd doesn't get home until 7:45 so I'm eating dinner around then after the gym. I've tried setting a consistent time here like 2:30 but my energy levels are low then. I think because I eat around 1:30 or so. I'm thinking about eating really light then. Have you thought about Bagel thins? I've been trying to just eat half a bagel now instead of the whole thing. You still had a good amount of water
I went to my dermatologist this morning. I'm good for another 6 mos. Then went to my cardiologist. I have low potassium from the results in March so I did another sample and we'll see if I'm still low. It might be medicine side effects. If so, I have to go back so he can change my meds. In the meantime I'm supposed to eat a banana once a day. I gained 3 lbs this week which I know has to be some fluid. But still... My resting pulse was super high so he said just keep a watch on it.1 -

My son made corn and bean salad with leftover corn from last night. We also had chicken breast. I went to the grocery store and bought ingredients for the next 2 days. When I got home my son was making brownies from an ATK recipe. We’re going to my daughter’s house for dinner tonight. It’ll be the first time since March. Her kitchen renovation is finished.0

@trooworld Low potassium affects the heart and can cause heart arrythmias. He was glad I wear an Apple watch so I'll get an alarm if I have one. I'm glad you have found a tool to help you with your water.

DH and I went for a walk this morning as it was cloudy and not as hot. Still humid, though. We’ve gotten some rain today which is good. It’s a good thing we didn’t go swimming as it was storming and the pool would be closed. Last night’s meal was good and we also enjoyed the brownies my son made, including the ice cream he brought. Tonight’s meal is simple; burgers, salad and frozen French fries.0

@fabgeekmom On the Apple fall alert, does it alert an assigned person or what? I'm glad you got in a walk when it wasn't so hot. I think I'm going to go back outside and walk in the mornings instead of my treadmill. I seem to want to do it more plus I drink more water that way. Win-win I've been craving some burgers but dh can't eat red meat so I can't wait to get to my daughter's house so I can have burgers and meatloaf.
@trooworld I have days where the food is really healthy and then I have days like today where I just ate two hot dogs on sliced bread. At least it was whole wheat. lol I'm trying to use up the stuff in my freezer and fridge before I leave. Excellent job with the water.0 -

Perhaps you have to make someone in your contacts as a favorite. I do know when I fell and broke my leg a few years ago, my daughter got notifications as to where I was ( I was out of town). I’m assuming you will get turkey burgers and meatloaf at your daughter’s house. I like turkey burgers. Hi, all. I had an oncologist appointment today. I have a blood disorder in which I have more platelets than normal. Luckily it is controlled with medication. My numbers were good and I don’t have to go there as often. Afterwards DH and I went to the recreation center to go swimming, but I had forgotten to pack my swimsuit. So we used the recumbent elliptical instead. Tonight my son is grilling chicken and making homemade hummus.0

Morning all, I am so not in a routine this week, Every time I started to get on here I would get interrupted. I still did not exercise yesterday. I know in my head it has to be...I am having trouble with my right arm and it's making me crabby. LOL. I think it's either crocheting or lifting a dead weight 33lb baby..or JUST OLD AGE..LOl
@fabgeekmom So glad you got your movement in yesterday, even if it wasn't as planned. Great job. Glad you got good news at the Dr as well. Thats because you take good care of yourself and have done great in self care.
@trooworld that's exciting I am sure about your surgery. It will all work out for the best time for you. It's good you are nervous, means you understand what you are about to do and are planning for it. That stinks about ants..we used to get them outside. I haven't seen any this year...ITS TOO HOT. LOL
@theslightedgeforever You will do well in you eating and movement on your trip. I am sure you will settle into a routine while at your daughters. You are pre planning with what you are doing now for yourself.

We ate lunch at a seafood restaurant today. DH had fried oysters and I had a salad with fresh tuna. I did eat one of DH’s hush puppies. It was good. We are enjoying our little getaway.0
