Sue in WA State - Still maintaining weight. Have been concentrating on sleep the past few weeks. Using snorelab and my Fitbit. I can't say I feel any great improvement but I have had less reflux. Need to continue with drinking lots of water and discontinue the after-dinner snacks.

Kylia in Ohio - well, up .4 of a pound since early May. Not worried just lots going on. That is small potatoes!

Barbara on the Oregon Coast - Slowly catching up. (as well as or) Better than yesterday: 6/10-6/16 PT-Knees 2 of 2 PT-Shoulder 2 of 2 Steps 4 of 7 6/3-6/9: PT-Knees 3 of 7 PT-Shoulder 5 of 7 Steps 4 of 7 Fuel better was a crapshoot ;{ but hopeful this week will be better as my Sweet and Spicy tea is back in stock... at last!

Lanette SW WA State – weight has not varied by a pound in over a month so holding steady in desired range. Working on after dinner snacking – maybe shift dinner time later so I stay full until bedtime. Hanging in with the lower carb way of eating.

    Hey, kidlins...

Barbie - I grew up in a hot, muggy climate, in the pine forests of East Texas. When Corey and I lived in Coos Bay, more in your neck of the woods, the continual cold and damp sunk into my bones and hurt every joint so much that I came very near sinking into depression. Wasn't good for me at all.

Waiting on Corey's call to say he's on his way home... and have been working on him to take a long weekend soon. He's got tons of vacation time left, with no plans to do any traveling, so he needs to take advantage of having his brother to step in at work and take a little time off. He's trying to work it out. One of their few holidays off is July 4th, but he won't get paid for it if he takes time off the day before or after. So he may take a long weekend prior to that one.

Got the entire house except for the kitchen area spider-sprayed. Actually for all bugs, but the spiders here are just wack. Was waiting until company had come and gone before I tore my living room apart and dumped the couches over to spray underneath. Not nearly as bad as years past - maybe I'm finally winning! Honestly, without my glasses on, I wouldn't even know most of them were there, but one touch of a web when I slide the vacuum under an end table, and I'm all "Spray it, spray it, SPRAY IT!" It's either that or burn it down and walk away.

    Not fond of spiders.

Anyway... also figured out how to apply the reflecting film for the living room window with the worst glare, and got that done. I'll be able to get the other windows done around the house the next few days, hopefully, since I have no convenient excuses of appointments this week. Not my idea of fun, but nonetheless, will pay for themselves just with the savings in A/C.

    Later, babies,
From my exciting life in the wilds of the Arkansas River Valley - where the heat index is wandering around a hundred degrees somewhere (38C). Such fun!
    Love,

We set off insect bombs in the house about once a year when we're going away for a weekend.

Load the car with everything including Rhody. Lay out newspaper in 3 room. Pull the tab on bomb 1 and set on newspaper, quickly repeat with the others ... and dash out of the house.

Come home to dead insects and arachnids all over the place and vacuum.

That usually clears things up for quite a while.

    Just checking in.
Dh was in a mood plus says not feeling good- Said he has had diarrhea for the past seven days. Not sure if he has had it that long or not, or exagerating a bit. Not sure if it is stress or what. From his mom and work, good possibility.
He isn't talking to me- ignores when I try and talk to him.
Planned on making fresh ramen topped with grilled salmon, kamaboko(two kinds), soft boiled egg then green onions for lunch. He didnt feel like eating so told him to let me know when he wanted it.
I made it for son and his girlfriend at dinner time. Dh was at his mom's.
I made a fresh batch of ramen when he got home and brought it to him. An hour later he sat it on the cutting board in the kitchen, didn't say anything. I just found it in there- hadn't even tried a bite of it.
Won't be very good tomorrow- soaks up too much broth- but wasn't going to dump the whole big bowl of it.
    mnlsu7xq51nt.png
Second bowl also got the egg and grilled salmon- I took the picture while the egg was cooking. Those were for son and his girlfriend

Talked to my mom. There is a big fire just north of town. It looks to be close to where my sister lives. I am trying to check in with her but she isn't responding on FB(even though it shows she is online/active on FB) Three hours and still she hasn't responded- Not new for her- unless she wants something- then she is bugging me.
Praying they get it under control soon.
My aunt and a good friend live a little ways away but aren't in the evacuation ordered area right now(sister is close to the recommended evacuation area)

Gave all four kittens and the old momma cat flea baths this afternoon. Was able to do three all by myself- they all did great- son and his girlfriend did one by themselves and both got scratched(I think the kitten didn't like the sound of the water or it wasn't warm enough-not sure. They smell so good and had so many fleas, poor little things. When they are wet you could really see them. I will see how they are next weekend and give them another if needed.

    Will catch up reading tomorrow.

What a complete boob your husband. I would've thrown his ramen in his lap. I have no tolerance for that kind of nonsense.

Kim – we do get snow here. But very religious snow, you know “God put it here, God will take it away”. It’s usually gone in a few hours. We only keep the solar cover on our pool during the winter. It does get cold, sometimes below freezing (not a lot). Thanks for telling me to go to a nursery

Debbie – prayers for your family

Vince was experiencing some vertigo yesterday. He says he’s fine today but he didn’t go bowling. He originally was thinking that perhaps his cat allergy was acting up since they are in just one room, but now he thinks more on the lines of an ear infection. Well, he’s doing better. He made a “door” for their room that’s 4’ off the floor but at least we can keep the door to the room open. We’ll probably close it at night. And there’s no way the cats can jump it, heck, I can’t even reach far enough to unlock it.

Lanette – yes, when I walk around the neighborhood, I take pics of plants that I like. Then I usually send the pic to the local master gardeners volunteer group to ask them what it is, then I go to a store or wherever and show them the pic and ask if they have it.

Lisa – when we lived in our second home and could have a clothes line, there were only 2 things that I put in the dryer. One was the towels, and the other was Vince’s work shirts

I got a notice on my phone that thunderstorms are expected, but it sure doesn’t look like it. If we don’t get rain, I’m thinking that I should give the plants a small drink since I didn’t yesterday. Update: watered

After bowling walked to Food Lion to get Vince his bananas and we needed stuffing. This is the only store where I can get low sodium stuffing. Also got some asian pears. This is about the only store where I can get them. But I do think they might have discontinued carrying the silken tofu (boo)

Allie – yes, keep us informed so that we don’t worry.

Lanette-I will keep you updated. So many things to check out! Agree with your advice to Sue regarding reporting former tenant-really good idea!

Heather-congrats on good physio report. Hope John improves soon.

Rosemarie-getting house ready for market will be work. Moving-I am not certain how much of old furniture I am taking. What I do take I will pay movers to handle. When we moved in here in 1992 we paid movers since we both worked and had young boys. We both said then we would never move ourselves again!

Beth-hope you re able to clear some stuff out! Sounds like you and cousin (and mom) had a good visit.

Rita-never heard much about Lion's mane-let us know how that works.

Lisa-don't think I would care much for your spider situation.

    Allie-hope they figure things out.

Not a bad Monday. We for eye exam after work so I could replace sunglasses I lost (that prescription was old anyway). Was a virtual exam. Doctor has referred me to ophthalmologist- she says I need checked for posterior uveitis (especially since I had scleritis in same eye). She said it may just be floaters but needs in-person exam by specialist. So-maybe it is good I lost glasses? At any rate, prescription in right eye isn't changing much, left eye is a bit worse and cataracts are just hanging out waiting to be ready for removal-which they may not want to do to left eye anyway. But- got new sunglasses and regular set ordered. Since that kept me out until after 7, I have eaten a light dinner, caught up with you and I am off to bed!

    Take care all,

:) I survived the dentist today. The new younger dentist and his assistant were very thoughtful and caring. His filling of cavities was very different and detailed from anything I remember from previous times years ago. Even so, it was 50 minutes of being very careful to not have water go down my throat and end up choking to death. It was expensive and I am grateful that we have the money to pay for it.

:) I am enjoying hearing about the kittens. I'd love to have another cat, but Annie is such a handful that another pet makes no sense at this time.

:)Margaret, Thank you for all the wise stuff you have been sharing.

:)<3Allie, sending hugs to you. You have way too many challenges on your plate right now.

Debbie and Kylia - LOVE those kitten photos. <3

Debbie - I think I understand how you feel when you cook and your DH doesn't eat it or eats junk food instead. It was that way at my house the final couple years of my DH's life. I think my DH was probably depressed too. Years of pain, he had to know at some level he had memory loss, losing muscle and shrinking. Probably meds that were having interactions also. I have a hunch our DH's aren't/weren't trying to be brats about not eating, it happened subconsciously do to their physical problems. I finally just didn't expect him to eat what I cooked - still cooked plenty in case he DID want some of it, but planned that I'd have leftovers for a few days, so made what I liked. I'm glad your son is there to help eat, it was always hard for me to throw away perfectly good food. Hence my freezer gets stocked.

Allie - are you in the ER because you were passing out? Hope they can find out what's wrong! Those waits are terrible these days.

Barbie - glad you survived the dentist. Hope you are done with them for a long, long time.

Rita - thank you for sharing more information from your program and the snack ideas. I like seeing what you're eating. :p Your food looks yummy!

I normally have chia pudding for dessert after dinner with a handful of berries. Recipe: 1/2 c milk, 1/4 c. Greek yogurt, 2 T chia seeds, 1 T protein powder if I have it. Blend all well and mix in 1/2 c berries and let sit in the fridge overnight, stir several times so the chia seeds don't settle to the bottom.

I decided to just delay eating that pudding for a couple hours and that should fill me up so I don't go to bed hungry. So far it seems to be working, just finished.

Does your program emphasize tracking/logging and if so, does it specifically have you tracking macros?

    Pre Diabetes class today:
We are now on week 2 of discussing tracking, talking more about MFP. :D I asked if we should be targeting certain macros, what our calorie goals should be, etc. Our leader is going to go over the info we submitted when we signed up (height, weight, etc.) and figure out our individual calorie and macro goals and email that info to each of us. :p So we'll get some personal touch. I'm real curious what she'll set protein at - she's already mentioned 30 to 45 gm of carbs per meal.

From what I can see, looking ahead, there are no "meal plans" or super strict rules about what we can or cannot eat or how many times a day we should eat, etc. There are the recommendations to go low fat, don't eat egg yolks, etc., but since I my lipids are great (and getting better by eating lower carb/full fat) I intend to continue down my own path with that.

It seems the philosophy is to train us to naturally implement the "plate" - 1/2 non starchy veggies, 1/4 protein and 1/4 carbs - carbs seem to be a broad catchall which includes fruit, dairy products, rice, potatoes, and even legumes. Although for me, dairy and legumes overlap into the protein section.

I think the idea is for us to develop a lower carb (sugar & starch) eating plan and increase activity in a sustainable way. Habits developed over 6 months are more likely to stay with us.

I sometimes have 1/2 c of broccoli with my eggs for breakfast, or add other left over veggies to scrambled eggs.

IF anyone is interested..... I may have posted this webpage before, but here goes again. It's the whole curriculum based on the CDC guidelines for diabetes prevention, and this my classes. In fact, some of the handouts are identical or at least pretty similar:

    https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes-prevention/php/lifestyle-change-resources/t2-curriculum.html

Our leader M goes over discussion points, answers questions, gives suggestions. The class started a month ago with 12 of us, we're now down to 8 (thought people might be sick or on vacation.)

It's been a long day. Sending hugs to everyone who needs them. <3
