That could be an option..I do see my nephrologist a werk before the cruise and will see the Urologist APRN in a few weeks so we will figure this out..
I figure after 2 open heart surgeries ,I can handle most anything lol
I just want to have some energy, not feel exhausted and feel better ..Im trying to eat better so thats a start.. it can only go up from there..😁6 -

went to aqua zumba last night- went early and swam some laps before and after class. . Those are some LONG laps!!!. Not used to a pool that wide but felt great each time I touched the sides. Between laps and class- was working out for an hour and a half straight. Actually slept decent last night. It did take a long time to get to sleep, but that is normal.
Shopping with dh after we went to his mom's and I walked her dog while he tended to her. 5 grocery stores. Should be able to just stay home tomorrow, besides going to church in the morning while he is at his mom's.
She hasn't been feeling good the past few days- stomach bothering her. I am sure all the fruit she is eating isn't helping but that is all she wants to eat. She doesn't want to eat real food even when it is exactly what she asked for. Wed, right as we were leaving after doing the morning stuff she informs him that she is hungry and wants a burger and fries. I was, ok, Mc.Donald's is just a few blocks away. He informed me that no, can't be from there, we have to drive across town to go to In and Out Burger.
We do that, drop it off because we have things we need to get done. When he got back that afternoon. Everything was still sitting there where I put it on her tv tray- she never even took it out of the bag!
Making Fettuchini Alfredo with chicken and mixed veggies for her now for him to take over. If she doesn't eat, that is on her. I know that my son will finish off the pasta, the chicken we actually bought for me to cook for us(and mainly the cats-yep, still cooking chicken for the stray cats), and I will add mixed veggies to my salad.
I have Ezie all week this coming week- grandma is on vacation so will have her two extra days. Kid pool is already set up, extra projects are ready for her....

Lanette – going out to eat is getting SOOO expensive. While we were traveling, I got an orange milkshake at Arby’s. A little over $4. I almost died. And it wasn’t all that good, either. And I didn’t get the large. Never again. Got one at a Wendy’s. Was only around $3 and it was pretty good. I noticed that BK’s price for a shake is like $4, too. And they wonder why I bring my own food! Vince may eat at one of those places, but I have better food for less.

Busy last four days...Thursday had a leisurely lunch with a friend at son's house. Perfect day! I rinsed two thirds of my chicken with brocoli and it was just right in terms of saltiness. No rice. Friday had some neighbors over for tea. Today I went to Farmer's Market. Then I went to a Garden Tour. I only went to four of them because tomorrow I am going to a special Garden with my cousin. I decided to go by myself because I was not sure what time I would go and how many I would see. The last four had a long drive to go see them. My favorite was one with numerous wildflowers and a fun bell that the owner had an interesting tale about how it became in their back year. I am hoping to post some pictures next week.5

That is the same with dh and I. He eats out all the time and doesn't really think twice about the prices. I look at prices first thing. I can make better(taste and health wise) ,cheaper and in some cases faster than going out to eat. The biggest exception is our taco Tuesdays. But, I could make them for a bit cheaper but not as tasty as their birria(I have made it but it is a LOT of work and takes a lot of ingredients)

✳️ Hello all! I’ve been MIA since 2021. So much has happened since then. The year 2022 was one big life changing event after another. I’m doing well now. ▪️I’ve been back on my ketogenic diet since Sept 9, 2023. I’ve lost 56 lbs so far. I still have a lot more to lose.▪️ I see some familiar names. Hope to become active here again,
— Ginger in Texas11 -
@cityjaneLondon ... sorry about your brother's cancer.
@grandmallie ... what was your natural hair colour?
@kevrit ... I can't drink those hot chocolate or triple mocha and similar things. I feel quite sick after and I suspect it might have something to do with the milk they put in. I like the idea of hot chocolate or mocha, but I'd like to find one without any milk.
@Anniesquats100 ... I like the restaurant idea for your father's birthday. I'm all for finding the easiest way to do something.
You might know this already, but since my husband came home from the hospital 6 years ago, I have been ordering my groceries online and having them delivered. That has been absolutely wonderful! I have also started ordering stuff for the house and having it delivered. Saves me so much time, and the ordering process can be done from the comfort of my own chair at home.
Eating out can be a bit expensive but we still do it about once a week. We won't touch McDonalds or KFC or those sorts of places. Usually we go to Zambreros for burritos and ice cream. That's about $40 for the two of us. But every 10th burrito is free. Last night we ordered pizza from a place near where we live now ... we thought we'd give it a try. I was impressed! $55 for 2 medium pizza, cheesy garlic bread, and two decent-sized chocolate caramel calzones. That's not bad!

Ads
They keep moving where the ad preferences are located but if you go to Settings and then type Ad Preferences in the search, you'll get there.
On that page, you can see lots of info about the ads you're being shown and if you click the Manage info tab, you can adjust all sorts of ad settings
If you click on Audience Based Advertising, you can see who has uploaded or used a list to reach you and you can allow or not allow that.
You can choose the categories used to reach you.
Back on the Customise ads tab, you can adjust what you want to see or see less of. I go through periodically and request to see less of various topics. While it is tempting to see less of everything, I leave a few because otherwise you'll just get a wave of new topics. So for example, I'll leave ads about cats. Chances are, I'm never going to click on the ads, but if I see cats in my newsfeed, that's OK.
I go through it every few months ... just did it now.
While you're there, have a look at a few other things in the left sidebar. Click on your information and preferences, and access your information. Click on ads information, and go through the choices. When you're in Audience-based advertising - Advertisers using your activity or information, click on each one, click on the fact that they've got a list from somewhere to target you, and click Don't Allow, scroll down and Don't Allow again.
It's a bit of work, but like I said, I go through it every few months ... especially if I start noticing a lot of odd ads around.
I'll tell you Step 2 when I get back from cleaning out the mouse-infested basement/garage.

Machka: You are a powerhouse, girl! Thanks for the reminder about redoing ad preferences on FB. They keep changing where it is, to make it less easy to make it suit us, not them. I did take the time to click the x’s yesterday with pleasing results.
I had a surprise treat yesterday. My youngest daughter rang mid morning and invited me to go up to Belfast with her after lunch to see the amazing Caravaggio Exhibition in the Ulster Museum. It’s been in tour and I missed the exhibition when it was in Dublin. We spent several hours visiting the other galleries afterwards. I chilled out after dinner.
I will be visiting my elder daughter after lunch today.

Today’s gratitudes: Shower, hot tub, and the ramps at the Crissey Field visitor center. Finally felt water was safe enough to shower at home. What a luxury to have all my products on the shower shelf and not in a gym bag. Could only spare 15 minutes for the hot tub so I savored every moment. While the rest of dog group was practicing going up and down the stairs, Shadow and I took the ramps .
Welcome back @grogers511 Ginger in TX! Con VERY grats for taking off those 56 lbs.
Wow, thanks Machka! You’re right, it is a bit of work. What a lot of audience based advertising to disallow ;{. Slogged through a few then saved your tips to revisit later. Much appreciated.
Finished goat cheese, flavored it with some lemon zest and honey. Will present with orange cranberry biscotti. Then dash home, change clothes and meet friends at Azalea Park music event. Let’s see if I can get back to sleep without eating anything ;}
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Guess where I got to this morning!!
It was quite a struggle, with discomfort in both hips, but I made it! First time since the op.
Saw these, coming back.
I just about had enough energy to pick up some crême fraiche etc from the deli.
Dim Sum for lunch.
I woke up at 3.30 this morning, and just couldn't go back to sleep. Gave up trying at 4.30. So I am a bit sleep deprived. I did do all my exercises though before I set off for my slow walk.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx

Ginger in TX - It's so good to see you! Well done on your weight loss, and hope life is good.
Heather - I know that getting to the sea again had to help your heart. So pleased you're doing so well. Almost to the second surgery, not long now! Then it's all healing and getting back to the sea once more. The gladiolus are so beautiful.
Carol - Thinking about you and your surgery, too. Please remember to check in - we'll be thinking about you!.
Machka - Thanks for the info on clearing the ads. I'm enjoying FB more these days without so many ads, and doing that will only help. I'll have to show it to Corey, too.
Allie - Thinking about you missy.
Felt quite accomplished yesterday, got the last truly large panel quilted (120 inches by 16, about 13 sq. ft.). Only one more panel, and I'll be done with quilting! Then it's just binding it all together. I might yet finish this thing yet by the end of July. I started at 5 a.m. yesterday and finished at 5 p.m., just because I kept going back to it and back to it. Was able to start again even after a long nap... pleased with that.
Supposed to rain all day today, woot! Hope so, we need it to help my water bill. Drowning in rain in May, begging for it in July. Life in Arkansas, I guess... 🤷🏻♀️🙂 Cor's supposed to go with me to the Farm & Ranch store this morning, they've got 40 lbs. of bird seed for $12, and the same amount at Walmart is $20 to $35. Was going to leave it for feeding in the late winter, but Corey convinced me to keep feeding them. We both love sitting in the sunroom watching them swoop in and out.
He thinks it's funny that I've started naming some familiar ones - like Fat Tommy, a house finch who squats on the small feeder like a troll on a bridge and defends one side for all he's worth. He's quite distinctive to me, and funny to watch. Even the cardinals leave him be. This is a creative commons image: RICHARD GRIFFIN VIA FLICKR. CC BY-SA 2.0., but a dead ringer for Fat Tommy.
My gut is continuing to do well... no backlash still, fingers crossed it's settling in and remembering what it's like to be reasonably normal. What a thought! Even a few pounds lighter this last week, so I know there's probably not a flash flood coming (so to speak... 😳👀😁).
Wild dreams last night - been listening to Shark Tank videos while I quilted, and Mark Cuban is one of my favorite down-to-earth business people out there... he showed up in my dreams, absolutely stoned on herb (medical of course! 😁), and was shopping at my garage sale. I was super mad because I was having to price everything and most of it was my sister's stuff for sale. Did I say weird? Yeah.
Off to the races... time to ferry in Cor's second cup of coffee. Listening to the thunder bumbling, Egg's just come in completely disgusted and quite damp. I love rain so much.
Hope it is/was a reasonably peaceful Sunday morning, with love from rainy Arkansas,
Lisa

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Barbie, yes I almost looked at getting grocery pickup. It's the closest I have come so far!
Machka I'm proud of you driving that truck! Also, I buy hot chocolate mix that needs milk added, then I put in powdered goat milk. Then I usually add a bit of instant coffee. Tastes wonderful, and gives me an energy boost, followed by a crash of course.
Heather glad your lazy Susans make you happy. There's something so satisfying about a perfect tool. And Yay for making it to the ocean! And hugs for your brother.
Carol it's too late to change the place for my Dad's party. Plus we really want my uncle to come with his walker. I guess because I'm afraid of entertaining, but I don't want to let my fear dictate what we do.
Barbara, yes my friends are helping with the party. My sister will be here, so she can watch Dad while I go pick up stuff. I have three more invite phone calls to make, so almost done with that uncomfortable phase. And no I never shaved Teddy. I not sure I have the right tool. He does look a little patchy sometimes when his clip is uneven.
Ginger welcome back!
Terri your museum visit sounds lovely!
And Lisa so glad your gut is behaving better! It's such an underappreciated freedom to be able to go out and not worry. In the commercials, they have Crohn's patients out on a sailboat!
Dad is at church and I ought to be running his car, but I'm thinking about a nap instead. I can run the car tomorrow.
I'm feeling better about the party today. I can do this.
Have a marvelous day ladies! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Caught up reading again! I have a virus of some sort on my computer which is making it very hard to use. So...I haven't been on here for the past week. I have a firewall, but obv something snuck in. Grrrr...
Flea- Spoon theory Thank you for sharing this. I will be sharing with people that I know who need to read it. Quite a long list, actually, as it is great info for everyone, I think!
Rebecca- I feel you! Time with the grands is not easy! Even though I care for between 8 and 12 children every day; a week with my three grandsons wears me out more than my work. It is because I am out of my home, working with less/different supplies, climate, environment. The kids are with a different person. It is haarrrd! I was happy to read that both Athena and Eli settled into a nap/rest time! It gives you a much needed break. Is Eli moving around yet? If not, finding "busy" activities for Athena could be fun and easy. Use masking tape to build a road or obstacle course, set up a car wash, baby doll wash, or pet grooming station with water, bubbles, towels, combs, clips, etc., create sculptures, food, aliens, etc with Play-Doh (use googly eyes, pipe cleaners and other art supplies), painting, chalk, bubbles, build a fort. I love the fact that Athena is doing Duolingo with you! Have her learn her words and take her on a cultural trip! Show a travel video, make some food (have her help), tape chopsticks to a clothes pin to make it easier for her to use them... All of that aside, I hope your visit settles into some calm times so you can enjoy your grands and not be worn out. And YES! Your son and DIL should be actively looking. In many places finding care for kids is TOUGH! Love to you! You are amazing for jumping into the fray to help!
Allie- If I were you, I would get the cut first. If you are like me and like the dramatic, you could have some gray streaks put in as highlights. I actually think, that this cut would look great with your darker hair and gray streaks for drama.
Heather- sorry to hear about your brother! Will be sending good thoughts/vibes.
Rest/sleep- I will tell all of you what I tell my toddlers and preschoolers about rest/sleep. Rest time and sleep time is when your brain "talks" with the rest of your body and saves everything it has learned. Your brain, heart, and tummy/gut need to talk to each other and figure out the best way to keep you strong, healthy, and growing. Your brain needs that time to organize everything you have learned and put it in the right places in your head, so you can find it whenever you need it. If you don't get rest/sleep each day, it is harder for your body to stay healthy and you will get sick." There you go! Oh and "please rest quietly, sleep if you can; if you can't sleep just rest quietly and let your friends get their rest. Just a short rest and then snack time!" That is how Miss Kel puts the little ones down for nap. lol
Well, time for me to use a spoon or two (spoon theory) and get out and wash the outside of my house. I haven't done it since last spring; so it is showing all of the sand, dust and dirt that has blown onto it this past year. We will see if I can get anything else done today. lol ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)4 -
Annie, congrats on what you've done so far about Dad's birthday party. I hate making phone calls so I know your pain.
Ginger in TX, I am super happy to see you again. Ii hope you keep coming back like you did before. You added so much to this thread.
Barbie in NW WA4 -
This weekend was one of my 3-day weekends and has been quite a weekend.
- 3rd time in my life driving a "big" truck.
- Hauled half a 3.5 tonne truck's worth of stuff to the tip yesterday & a whole van's worth of stuff to the tip today. Plus there is another 11 bags of rubbish sitting outside which we'll take to the tip next weekend.
- Hauled out all the big stuff and got it into storage.
- More or less organised the remaining smaller stuff into related piles.I haven't spent much time in the basement/garage at all in the past 10 years ... just went down to exercise periodically. Most of the time, it didn't look too bad. There was a certain degree of order ... and a certain degree of disorder. But in the last year, I've rarely gone down there, and in the last year, my husband's ability to do things has gone downhill. And the basement/garage was astoundingly bad. Really horrible!
One of the things with the basement/garage is this ... the house is built on a hill, and the basement/garage is not finished to the point where the hill comes right through it.
Another thing is that there are air holes all the way around which the mice use to get in ... and weather gets in.
My husband had built some shelves and put some boards down for extra storage. But I think the torrential rains we've had now and then, including the one last weekend, have had an effect on the hill as I could see evidence of wear and a small avalanche. And some of the things we were hauling out today from way in the back had moulded really badly. We were wearing masks and gloves.
I am so incredibly glad we've got rid of all that stuff!!
The air quality down there must have been awful!
Machka in Oz8 -
Had to work 6 full hours, (with an hour added in for lunch break so 7 total) at the pay booth yesterday. They were very short of help. I haven’t actually ‘worked’ that long in about 8 years! I’m totally bushed! Probably why my weight went up 2.5 pounds since Friday-that and the cheating I did last week. Will wait another day to post actual. Should only need to do 3 hours today. What the hay, it pays my housing costs and we don’t do a whole lot the rest of the week. I’ll just take a nap later after dinner.
Yesterday walking steps wasn’t good because of all the time standing in the pay booth (it was really busy so no yoga breaks between cars! Lol). But eating was ok. Had muesli with craisins, 1/2 banana, and Oikos Tripple zero. Had a Sargento’s white cheddar Balanced Breaks for a snack. Dinner was 2 small lamb chops, pasta fazool topped with Parmesan, a biscuit, and salad. Supper was a ‘Plout’ plum, English muffin with butter and cream cheese. Calories under my allotted.

Ginger - so glad to see you back here. Great job on the weight loss. We missed you and still miss a lot of the old timers like JanetR, who we haven't heard from in a long while. Ketone Karen is super busy but pops in now and then.
Carol - best of luck with your knee replacement tomorrow. Is your DH ready to be your assistant when you get home or will you have home health care/PT or someone else stopping by?
Flea - that "Spoon Theory" is right on the money. I could identify with it a lot and I don't even have a chronic debilitating disease.
Barbara - is the guy still scheduled to do work on your water system? So happy you were able to shower at home!
Annie - once your dad's birthday party is over, any more events coming up or can you settle down into more of a routine for a while?
Heather - wonderful to see you on your beach walk again. I always loved the photos you'd share of the sights you saw along the way. We'll be getting them again soon. Smart thinking getting lazy susans. I should look into some for the awkward space in my cupboards where things go to hide in the back.
Remember I mentioned a few weeks ago that I'd barely ventured onto a senior online dating service? And I said I was looking for a guy within 25 miles of where I live? Well, they are now sending photos of old dudes from way north of Seattle and down into mid-Oregon, well over 100 miles away. I should just block them. but it's fascinating to see who's they keep coming up with. I saw one the other day, though, that has promise. He was standing with a pipe wrench in his hand. I find that attractive in a man. One sitting on a tractor or bulldozer would have possibilities too!
Got most of the dandelion demolition taken care of early yesterday morning before the thermometer hit 70. Might have woken up a few neighbors . I remembered my DH patiently waiting for the clock to strike 8 on the weekends, then he'd be out there with his weed eater or mower. "Time for everyone to get up!" he'd announce. And off he'd march.
It's overcast and raining. Sort of, won't add up to much but it's bringing cool air.
***Reminder to please get your weekly check-in info to me no later than noon tomorrow. This weekly accountability/check-in has been rolling along since 7-24-23! Thank you to all who are participating. Happy anniversary.
Lanette
SW WA State4 -
Annie - My DH hates shopping. My Dad enjoyed it, it was a family event on Thursday nights. We met up with family, friends and neighbours. The grocery store was in a little mall and we went to most every store. When my girls were young we did the same thing. I think it stopped around 2000 because the mall with the grocery store we went to in Edmonton closed down and was demolished for high rises and the LRT. After that it wasn’t the same.
I hope your Dad is quiet tomorrow for you.
Machka - you must be exhausted.
I hope you don’t have to deal with the mouse infestation anymore after this. I have gone through that and it’s is awful!
I bet being away from the mold and mice droppings will help with your sinuses.
Barbie - Jake is smart to prioritize his day.
In my interview the other day I was asked how I prioritize my multiple duties. I told them first was always the resident and their families needs that I would be taking care of, all financial, second would be payroll because unhappy staff may affect the residents, third receivables, because we needed money to come in to keep it all going and finally the vendors, if they were a day or two late getting paid it was the least affect on the residents. They liked my answer.
Allie - I hope your kids help you clean up and drive you back and forth to the hospital when you get your transplant. You do a lot for them.
Lanette - and was going to take Patches on a road trip today and forgot. I think I’ll put her in a seatbelt tomorrow and take a picture.
I received a video message from Michaela and her little bestie (her bestie is 4, a blonde haired, blue eyed tornado! That girl will rule the world in be in prison one or the other. 😂) Michaela was trying very hard not to smile and to whine they she missed Patches and wanted her home. as Michaela is doing this her bestie is trying to change their faces with filters and Michaela says, “OK, you ready” and then starts pretending to cry again. I was laughing out loud, if her besties Mom gives me permission I’ll post it on FB.
Restaurant prices have been going up here too. They are getting hit with the hire food costs too. It’s a terrible cycle.
Heather - I don’t know why I haven’t thought of a lazy Susan! I could use one in a couple of places. I’ll add it to my Amazon wish list.
I love your sea photo!
Rita - that’s a great deal on a tv.
Just for fun I looked to see what they are here on Amazon and the cheapest I found was $248 the others were all over $400
Barbara - stress does terrible things to our bodies. Sleep and rest help heal for sure.
I want to party in the redwoods with you. It sounds absolutely lovely!
Yay for a shower at home!
Debbie - that MIL of yours sure is something.
Lisa - dreams are so funny. I don’t know how our minds come up with them.
I hope we get rain soon.
Rodger was sent home yesterday and today for poor air quality from the smoke of the wildfires in BC, AB and SK. He is scheduled to be off on his next four days because I bought him tickets to NASCAR Canada for Christmas. We may have to cancel the hotel part and drive back and forth.
I went to help Kaitlyn’s friend Raquel pack yesterday. It is an hour and a half drive each way, but a drive I love. We managed to get a fair bit done. Of course, we got more done when Aspen had her nap. Aspen’s favourite activity is “washing dishes” she has one of those safe stands for toddlers to reach the sink. She gets a couple of plastic dishes to wash.
Today I think I’m going to take Patches home. Rodger is home again today and I may get him to help me move my deacons bench to stain instead. I need help lifting it. The hope chest I could do on my own.
I am trying to get rid of all of the orange wood in my house.

I haven't done it since last spring; so it is showing all of the sand, dust and dirt that has blown onto it this past year. We will see if I can get anything else done today. lol ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
Wise words thanks!

Yesterday Annie chewed through the nylon cord on her leash and I had to be creative to get her home and trade it for Bessie's leash so we could finish our walk. As soon as we got home, Jake logged on to Chewy and ordered two new leashes that will be here on Monday. It's just one of the hazards of owning a dog. Brandy, the poodle, did that to her leash.
Our solution to problems of storage is to get rid of things or use them up and not buy new stuff. It's in keeping with my word for the year "enough". I just ordered two new shirts to replace two that are nearly falling apart (one purchased in 2003, the other in 2009).
Carol, best wishes for your upcoming surgery. It will be a challenge but will bring you so much more pleasure when you've healed and recovered.
Barbara How great that you can shower at home again. Your trials and tribulations reminded me of some of our RV experiences except that we chose the RV lifestyle and knew that at any time we could either go home or move to place with attached water.
Yes, restaurant prices are appalling. We have gotten restaurant food lately only on very special occasions (like out of town company that when we don't want to have to do the work and don't want to have to figure out how to please everyone). It was truly a gift we gave ourselves. Otherwise we love our own cooking and personally chosen foods.
Tracey, Your interview answer was great. They would be crazy to not hire you.

Best wishes for tomorrow Carol ❤️ 💕 💖 💓
I've ordered another lazy Susan for the top shelf of the fridge where I keep opened jars. It's a new type that fills the whole shelf, is squared off, and then pulls out so you can rotate it. I am sure that will help with keeping check on out of date jars etc. Some things I can't reach.
Every time I use my two in the cupboard it makes me so happy. John thinks I'm nuts. 😜
Roasted butternut squash with pre frozen chilli, salsa, crême fraiche and asparagus for dinner. Yummo!
Tracey - I hope you get that email or call tomorrow.
You are so great with the grands.
