Hello my chicks,
Not altogether conscious, but am waking up as I rattle to y'all. I slept for nearly nine hours! Woot!
Finally finished the quilt in both general and specifics and will pack it up today. Realized I never showed y'all the back of it, and then realized I never actually took a picture of the back of it! Here's the finished thing:
I took it in the back bedroom so the bed doesn't overwhelm the quilt. Easier camera angles, too.
I'm sending it with the mistake intact, which will surprise Corey no end. He thinks I'll tear it apart and fix it - the quote being, "Yes, but I know you and you still have the pointy thing that rips out stitches. Put it in the box and send it!" 🥰 He loves me.
Lots of transitions this week, the antibiotics and steroids time is now finished. Time to see if the ship will continue to finish righting itself in terms of my gut health. I'm gaining weight again (mixed blessing), my hair is growing, I'm having to cut my fingernails much more often, and am overall feeling very well. All signals that the nutrition I'm getting in is actually being used by my body instead of just being dumped in my gut and making me ill, with little real absorption.
Got to get another cup of tea in me and get moving... don't know yet if the quilt will fit in a large flat rate box, and if not, I'm going to have to rustle up a box.
Later, babies,
Love from the once again quite scorchy Arkansas River Valley

I had cramps again last night. The night before I did not use my breathe right and mouth tape. I am wondering if that was part of the cause. I am also working to get outside in the morning watering my plants and drinking my coffee. My other goal is to take more movement breaks. I sit too long during my computer time and at night watching TV. I am going to try rebounding. Years ago I took a Tai Chi class and the instructor thought this was a good exercise for losing weight. I learned last night it is good for your eyes too because it increases circulation throughout your body. You stand with your feet about shoulder width apart then slightly bend your knees. Next lightly bounce. Do for a couple of minutes for a break. A good one for when watching TV or listening to a podcast on YouTube.
I am still losing about 3 pounds a month. I was 160 in July this morning I was 157. I did drop more when I was so sick. Those two pounds come and go right now.6 -

Cramps are often caused by dehydration, lack of magnesium, or lack of the full range of electrolytes (of which magnesium is one).
Dehydration is the main one for me.
Cramps can sometimes also happen if you've done more exercise than usual.

LISA ~ the finished quilt looks very good. I have no idea what the mistake is but I know the recipient will love it. When I went to college, my grandmother gave me a quilt that had been stored in a barn and I used it all four years of school. Wish I had it now.
ANNIE ~ Glad the dr started your dad on the med and hope you will see a difference in his behavior. I'm pretty sure my brother-in-law was given something similar and it delayed his ongoing dementia for a while.
Going to PT today and not wanting to go because my knee has been aching pretty bad for the last 2 days. I have kept doing a couple of the exercises I was given and just hope the instructor will be easy on me.

Lisa ~ It's funny that you mentioned you and your sister's different view and it's probably a good thing we don't discuss a couple of topics here. Glad we keep it neutral.
Rebecca ~ Poor cute Levi's face. Glad they found a new sitter.
Flea ~ Your walk sounds wonderful. Hoping so much that after I walk normally again I will be able to get out and enjoy walks outside and working in my yard.
I have not had a good eating day food wise but know this to will pass!

Yep, it was a stressful thing.

Did an hour of HIIT and then in the water. I’ve found that I go in the pool, do my own thing, then join the water aerobics class when it starts. I’m just in the water for an hour.
Barbie – I’ve asked a friend of mine in FL who is a real good artist if she would paint “that’s all folks” on a sign for me and she, of course, said she would. I didn’t have any doubt. Glad you liked him.
Took some of my exercise stuff down to Play It Again Sports. Didn’t get as much as I’d hoped, but I’ll live with it rather than having it sit around the house doing nothing.
Heather – hope you had a great time at the bbq. Yea for showers
Rita – I’m always looking for different breakfast items. I never thought of having quinoa. Sometimes I have soup, even chicken. What are some of the other “different” food items you have for breakfast?
Went to the MD about my “callous” on my foot. Seems that the last time I was there, they modified the wrong insert. To be fair, it did say “R” on it so the guy assumed it was for the right foot, only it was for the left foot. So he put it on the right one (didn’t bother to take the one for the left foot off since it wasn’t hurting anything) and I have to go back in 2 weeks to see how it’s healing. Hopefully, it will
Walked to Food Lion to get Doritos that were on sale for Vince and another bag of marshmallows. I’ll probably make more of the rice krispie bars tomorrow since Vince has a dermatologist appt and it’s supposed to rain (supposed being the operative word)
To all quilters: Did you know that there’s a pen that you can mark on the fabric where you should put the line (say) and when you are done if you put a hot iron on it the pen marks disappear?
Packerfan – what an ordeal you’re going thru with the cancer. I think I can only send lots and lots of virtual hugs
Rebecca – you can send some of those cookies to NC. Athena can have the missed panda… I can’t use my oven right now, so that’s a good reason to send them….lol
barbie – so glad Jake is home. I just now mentioned to Vince that we need to start thinking of the weed killer and getting it put down. I hate the end of summer
Mia in the UK – welcome
No one makes anyone uncomfortable for any reason. We’re all there. As Lisa said “pain shared is pain halved”
Tracie – why don’t you get one of those pens then you can sew on the line and know that it’s straight? I think that’s probably what it’s for
How did we get such adorable grands?????? Love all the pics
Flea – yea for your son and what a relief for you. I, too, thought the worst at first!
Heather – Please, please, please take it easy and let your knee heal. I know how badly you want to get back to normalcy, but if you do too much too soon, it’ll hurt you in the end.
Pip – you’re in good company, I missed whatever it was that Lisa said that she thought offended Carol.
Need to take a shower and then probably spend time with the kitties.

Ok.💖

@Lisa Love both sides of the quilt! I like how it can be used both ways. Gives an option!
@Machka9 a What is the URL for your website? Can we access it here in the US or is it restricted to AU?
Breakfast foods: I eat quinoa, oatmeal, grits, or homemade muesli (oatmeal, dried fruits, and mixed nuts), either hot or cold with 1/2 banana, blueberries, strawberries or other fruit together or single fruit, or any mix of these. When I eat these cereals hot, I add 1 T butter, and 1T nut butter (vary the nut butter for different flavors). No sugar or sugar substitute. You can add those if you’d like. I use Almond milk or water if I heat it and plain yogurt if i eat it cold. I prefer Greek yogurt, and sometimes use Oikos Tripple Zero for more flavor variety. Before I had the kidney issues, I used Greek yogurt with added protein ie Oikos Pro or Keto yogurt. These choices give you a great variety of choices and flavors for breakfast. Add protein powder if you need more protein.
Lunch yesterday was a simple cheeseburger with pan fried seasoned potato squares and what I call DH string bean salad. (Cold canned string beans olive oil dressing and whatever other veggies we have, really good!)
No desert as I wasn’t hungry, my allergies acting up. Supper was a biscuit with blended fruit (cumquat, strawberry, blueberry, and I don’t know what else DH put in it) I was simply going to heat up a biscuit and top with a cumquat that is going bad in the fridge, but DH took over, so I don’t really know what all he blended together besides the fruit. He sliced the biscuit and made something of a fruit compote in the middle. It was delicious!

FYI, I got the ‘My Plate’ from Amazon for about $8. It has really helped me with portion control. I always add some sort of dairy each meal, usually cheese to match what the CDC recommends and my pre-diabetes class recommends as well.

Ahhh... Lovely morning... just lint-rolled and clipped stray threads out of the quilt and wrestled it into a large USPS flat-rate box, which it just barely fit, but it fit. Wrote a letter to Viv and included it.
Talked at length to a couple friends, thereby making my lovely life even more full of laughter and fun, as well as my beloved husband (twice!). He had to call and say good morning, as I was OUT when he left. 🥰
Now to run down to the post office and get this precious package in the mail, insured and tracked, and stop and snag a baking potato and salad fixings for Corey, as that's what he wants for dinner. He will be making a meat and gravy sauce for his, as well, which I will probably forego... I do love a baked potato, though.
Heather - It's lovely to see you moving around again, and to see you taking care of yourself. Sleeping when you're tired is one of the great luxuries, isn't it?
Carol - Hope the PT helps--the more you can handle, the faster you'll heal, dear heart.
Off to the races, kids, and back to a cool, shady afternoon in my house.
Love,

Flea--When I first read your post I thought something else. Glad he passed his driver's test. Happy for both of you.
Barbie--Glad Jake is home.

Lisa - both sides of the quilt were very nice, glad it's on its way to a new home. Also very happy to hear your sleep is much improved and overall health is doing so well. You've made great strides!
Annie - I hope the medication helps your dad stay on an even keel for a while.
Michele - your foot doctor makes me nervous, lol. They modified the wrong insert? ACK! Hope everything is in the proper place now and your callus gets better once and for all. Knock wood, my feet are doing OK. I started breaking in a new pair of Muck shoes yesterday. The old ones are really worn on the bottom, and sloppy. I'll switch between them every time I go visit the hens, which is about half a dozen times a day. Looking for eggs and they like treats. That's enough of a reason right there.
Rita - yummy looking dinner, as always. Maybe I'll make myself a cheeseburger for supper. Thanks for the idea!
Meg has been on my mind. I think a tornado or two hit part of Omaha again last week. They seem to be a magnet for twisters this year. Vicki, you've had more than your share too.
I've been on a treasure hunt the past week. The spot price of gold got my attention, and I remembered DH used to wear a gold chain around his neck. It was actually mine to begin with, but him being Italian and liking flashy stuff, I handed it over. I'm talking probably 35 years ago. It was 14K, not very expensive back then.
He wore it all the time. I can't remember, though, if he was wearing it when the ambulance came to pick him up. If he was, I'm sure I took it off - I know I took off the watch he was wearing and I put it in his bureau drawer.
But where is it? Was he not wearing it and if so, where did HE put it? If I took it off him, and put it someplace for safekeeping since it had some value, where the heck did I stick it? The final year of his life or so, I know my brains were half scrambled. Dementia was contagious. And after he passed, I was also on another planet for a while getting things straightened out around here, plus I was dealing with that broken toe.
I have an idea of the container it might be in if I stashed it .... but where's that container? I've gone through the safe, hidey spots in drawers and on shelves where I have hidden some valuables I didn't want a thief to walk off with.
If DH feels like communicating with me, forget the lotto numbers and give me a hint where to look. I already warned T that if I kick the bucket, look in every nook and cranny.
I'd like to start wearing it again.
I'm starting to make friends with my new phone. All I have to say is "Hey Goo-Goo, set a timer" or "Hey Goo-Goo is the pass open?" a very pleasant voice greets me by name and takes it from there. I wonder if she's listening when I'm yelling at the dog, lol. Rosie caught a killed and baby bird - fledgling sparrow - this morning, so Miss Goo-Goo heard some blue language. If so, she didn't respond - since I didn't start the yelling with "Hey Goo-Goo" she was probably sleeping. You never know though.
