Lanette, you are correct. I totally missed your post in response to mine. I was skimming way too fast.
I can’t remember if I told you my windshield got hit by a rock bringing my brother home. I took it to the body shop today. It was only 4 months ago that the same thing happened on our way home from our eclipse trip. The nick on the hood isn’t really worth reporting, but the insurance agent said I might as well get it all fixed right since my road hazard is $0 deductible. The windshield, of course, was the worst part.10 -
Boy, am I behind. I have been on the wrong month chatting away. Here are the reader's digest updates. I took care of my 4-year-old and my blue-eyed cherub the weekend before last. The 4-year-old that I have taken care of since she got out of the NICU was not waking up, smiling, or talking. The only thing keeping her alive was the ventilator; she was gone. I tried to stay till the mom came in so I could hug her. I talked to the medical team, who agreed she was already gone. I had to run to my car and pick up my dog Rose to drop her off at Day Camp to stay while I was out of town. Then I packed up the car and drove like crazy to the airport. There was only one agent, so I heard the final boarding call while in line and missed my plane.
I didn't make it to New York until 11:30 pm. I alerted everyone. I was so tired anyway. I stuck to the schedule anyway. On Tuesday, we went to the MET(Metropolitan Museum of Art), and my son and I had dinner at Capizzi's. The pizza was terrific. We had fun catching up, and I tried to help my son get his passport done to go to London in the spring. I got a text message that they took my 4-year-old off of the vent, and she passed quickly. They released a balloon in her memory, and her 5-year-old brother said the Lord's prayer.
Wednesday, we went to the Empire State Building. It was rainy and cloudy, and we didn't see much, but we had fun. We went to the Broadway show on Thursday to see Wicked, which was beautiful. Then we went to the Carnegie Deli and had fun laughing and talking. Then we went to my hotel and chatted while I packed for my 2:30 am pick-up to the airport for my 6 am flight. Then I got a text at the airport about what we discussed and that this girl K told me what I felt about the other weekend. We resolved it, but the manager came in and wrote everyone up, and my friend was fired. What a welcome back. I was so sad about it. I kept to myself and decided to stick to that plan for 14 months. As for my Cherub, she was cute as always, and she played with Miss Rachel( I didn't have her). I had two teen boys. I gave one a haircut and a good bath(he is paralyzed). I tried to keep the other comfortable; he was lucky to be alive. He had a GSW on the scalp but can walk and talk. The hematoma and skull fracture caused some headaches, but that is it. I spoke to him today about the safety of returning home. He said they would move to Texas and start over.
Kylie- I love the kitties; one looks like my cat Callie. I love the addition of the garage. You are getting it done, my friend.
Lisa, I love the cape and am sorry it makes you sneeze. It's a beautiful quilt, too.
Machka- I am so glad you are alright. I was worried about you since you said you passed out in a restaurant. Take care of yourself.
Allie, your grandson is a free spirit—so cute. I hope your daughter does well with the C-section.
@snowflake1968- I hope you hear good news soon about the job.
Everyone, thank you for your kind words of encouragement.

Heather - I have been ruminating on the idea of writing the history of the table on the underneath. Where and when it was built. When it moved to my parents house and Dad did the top and then when it came here and I redid it.
I was thinking about the family history for so long, I think like the table it has been something I’ve been scared to start. I need to make a deadline for myself for that too.
I did write in Sharpie the way the leaf numbering. I hope it helps, but I think I’m missing a leaf.
I would love to do the trip through the Rockies via train but I don’t know how I would do.
The wound looks nice and clean.
Lisa - it’s so nice that you have the energy back.
Machka - I can understand why the 16th feels like minutes away. This whole year has seemed so fast.
Hope your commute stays better for you.
Kylia - your sister looks like you. What a beautiful view. I am so happy that you were able to get away on your own.
Terri - I love the colours. Isn’t it amazing what new glasses will do.
I received what my benefits will cover and it’s $500 every two years for glasses. I’m happy with that!
Barbie and Heather - I am the same when it comes to books into movies or tv shows. One that I recently watched and enjoyed though was Daisy Jones and the Six. It’s been a few years since I read the book though.
Lisa - what wonderful test results! For a 10 year period here they tested Vit D on all routine tests. They finally stopped because almost all Albertans were low.
Allie - I’m sorry Tracy is being so difficult. I was just grateful when people bought things for me when I was expecting.
I started my chairs today. I am not happy with them. I need to smooth some spots out and paint them again. I would not attempt this again I don’t think. The seats will be the same colour stain as the table.
Off to bed, I’m trying to get myself into a schedule this week of waking up early so that I don’t suffer next week.

I was talking to the nurse about wound healing. She said that some people cut back on their food after the operation, because they fear putting on weight. Then they aren't getting enough nutrition to heal properly. She said that we should eat lots of fat, which is what a lot of people avoid.
I said there was no danger of that from my point of view! I said that I eat a fantastic, healthy diet, just much too much of it!
Tracey - Would it be possible to paint a couple of the struts in another accent colour? And then maybe a foot rung or two? Just a thought.
Have you decided on your 'capsule wardrobe' for work?
The secret with first draft writing is just to start. Don't try to think it out. Just grab a bit of old paper, or your phone, and get a few words down. Tell yourself it only has to be a sentence. Don't give yourself any standards, just get something, anything, down. It doesn't have to be good. DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD. Just be as honest as you can. Don't pretty stuff up. I find your whole story so interesting, it will tell itself.
Lisa - Yeah for the tests! Gosh, it's been a long haul.
Physio today. I have one physiotherapist for the left hip, (today), and a different one for the right, (next week). I suppose it keeps their accounting straight, as it's included in the cost of the operation.
Monique - I think that's your name. I am so in awe of your energy! And dedication. And resilience. I would be flat on my back after doing any one of the things you described. So glad your NYC trip went well.
Much love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Good morning from the soggy suburbs. Looking out at my magnolia tree which has 4 blooms on it. Nature is as confused by the weather as I am. 😂
Monique: Loved that you had a great break in NYC. You do such a stressful job. I would be a sobbing wreck.
Tracey: I like what you have done with the chairs. It was quite an undertaking, the history deserves to be recorded.
Lisa: You must be so pleased with your results.
Heather: That’s a healthy wound. Good nutrition is very important for your recovery.
Allie: MFP must be up to their old shenanigans again. I also lost a post last night.
The wet day means I will have no distractions from my crochet after breakfast.
Let’s hope that I don’t lose this one!

Heather - You ain't just a-woofin' on it being a long haul. Some days I feel like a bear stretching and groaning, coming out of hibernation. I've very tempted to see if I can have them postpone the next colonoscopy from September to up in April, after I've been on the Skyrizi for a full year. Mainly because I hate them, but I can probably come up with some reasonably good medical logic if I think about it a minute! The thought of it, even though it's nearly six weeks out, is making me twitch. I'm such a big baby...
Monique - Glad you came back to us again - I knew you were traveling, so I didn't check on you yet! I'm so sorry about your 4-year-old. I cannot imagine you would ever get used to it... and I'm sorry, too, about your friend. Sometimes, management feels they have to place a specific blame in order to settle down department-wide uproars. I can't imagine it's easy to find nurses for what you do that can handle it for long stretches of time. You have my utmost respect. After all that running around in NYC, how's your leg/foot that was in bad shape? Don't forget to sign your posts with name and place - it really does help us keep people sorted and remember their lives. Yours is worth remembering!
Tracey - As someone who refinished a number of pieces of furniture, here's my advice that you didn't ask for. NO ONE is going to feel your chairs and say, "Oooh, that's bumpy." People touch chairs in very specific spaces to pull them out, push them back, and then they only touch the seats with their butts. Concentrate on those and leave the rest to be a little bumpy. Chairs are, without a doubt, the hardest furniture to try to re-finish in any way, whether paint or stain, because of all the rungs in every direction, the odd angles you have to get the brush, and so on. You cannot catch every bump, ever. However, when you're done, singly and as a group, the stained seat with the back and sides painted will be absolutely beautiful. On the write-up, along with Heather's advice, the easiest way to write that kind of thing is to write it like it's a letter to the one of your daughters that's a history buff. Makes for an easier chore.
Terri - Every one of these feels like a triumph, you are absolutely right. I know it's me patting myself on the back, but I am quite pleased when I learn new skills and build things I didn't think I could. When I want to give up (more often than I want to admit), I think of some of those incredible parchment cards you made one year--absolutely gorgeous--and reminds me what beauty people can accomplish if they choose to learn. So I walk back in to the room and try again, and again and again. And again. 😁🥰
Didn't mean to write serial stories, but hey, you can always scroll past, and I won't even know! 🐿️😊🤣 Feeling a little squirrely this morning, rattling here in between laundry loads and dishes. Got all six guest pillows washed and smelling good, and will repurpose the two extra bed pillows for... something. Not sure what yet. Have plenty couch pillows and chair pads already. Tempted to try to make fabric animals... but don't know if I want to learn yet one more completely new skill! Still contemplating.
Am on that first sleep/second sleep cycle again, which is fine. I'm quite productive in these. Will wave Corey off to work and fall asleep around six or seven, most likely.
Hope it is/was a grand day for everyone,
Love,

Good morning!
Monique-Glad you found us again! You are a special person! Glad your trip went well. Sounds exhausting but fun! Your "children" are blessed to have you caring for them.
Lisa- Great job on the bloodwork! Healing is a good thing. Not sure if I mentioned that I love the quilt you made!
Heather Healing well too! I am excited for your improvements.
Tracey I love the work you have done on the table and chairs. I am excited for you for the next chapter in your employment.
Allie I too would quit buying! I think your gifts were well thought out!
Both kitties laying on my chest. Purr boxes going. Tori has her tongue out just a bit. I fell asleep with them in bed last night.DH had to put them out when he came in as Cali had decided it was time to play. I didn't even realize he had come to bed until I woke up at 330 for pee break.
Pip Any news on heart monitor? I hope no more episodes. Enjoy your time with sister.
Not feeling right....chest feels like bruised and throat sore. Maybe reflux.....no fever, no cough, no congestion, no headache. Just off feeling.
I am still waiting on family pics from graduation. Someone else took them. May have to remind sister.
Continued healing!
Love the photos and how crafty yall are!
I save often when replying as all I have to do is shift and my posts go poof.
Grateful you are all here!

My physio appointment went well. She seemed to think I was doing as well as last time, and read me out the notes Gregor had made. I will start to pick up a bit on the exercises from now on. Her main recommendation was to do the things I enjoy and that will motivate me. So I will wander round to the local shops this afternoon and have a chatty session with all the shopkeepers.
Poor John has been having a very frustrating time with his bank. He couldn't log on, and now is on the phone. I am upstairs, but can hear his exasperated tone!
I will go down and make him lunch in a minute.

Do you need to go for a colonoscopy?

Actually, it's not a screening, but a visual scan to see if the bowel ulcerations have healed, or have worsened--which they can tell, to a large extent, through the blood tests, a CT scan (non-invasive) and my symptoms. I think I can definitely make a case for pushing it off to July, which will be two years since the last colonoscopy and one year since I began the Skyrizi.
They also push it for anyone with Crohn's or ulcerative colitis, to diminish cancer risk - but if you look at the stats, about 3% of Crohn's and 3.7% of UC patients develop colon cancer within 5 to 8 years post-diagnosis - and 4.1% of the overall population in the United States develop colon cancer as a whole. Not a good argument at all.
If at that time, all the tests are clear and the symptoms have completely subsided, I will discuss whether to follow through. Thank you for that, Machka - you helped me put my thoughts together in coherent fashion. I'm pushing back on a LOT of tests these days for various reasons. Much like medications, I don't just give consent without thought, and will say "no" if there is reason to do so.
Ha! I knew there was a good reason. I've had two colonoscopies in the last five years, and that is one too many.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Debbie and Rita you are right I need to set up a trickle charger once I get the battery replaced. Yesterday a friend of mine convinced me that we need to hang on to the car for my Dad's dignity. My objection was about needing to drive it, so the trickle charger will reduce that.
The next question is how to get the battery replaced. My friend is convinced I can do it. I watched a YouTube and it takes gloves and stuff to clean corrosion and such. I would rather hire it out. My friend also said to shop for a better battery.
This friend M unfortunately has prostate cancer with surgery set for the end of October. Great to hear his deep sexy voice, but so sad about the cancer. He is 63.
So today's goals are to schedule someone to put in a new battery before tomorrow's oil change appointment, and also to buy my flight for my trip to Las Vegas this fall. I still have this fear that the trip will fall through, but I need to try. My cousin will stay with Dad.
So have a great day my friends! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

I also pull out the stress card from time to time ...
This test raises my (or my husband's) stress level ... stress causes my (or my husband's) symptoms to get worse ... therefore "no".

Reading Metabolical by Robert Lustig he is the one who is working to get real food back into the schools! It is a bit technical. One message he speaks to loud and clear is the importance of fiber. Fiber is a nutrient because it feeds our gut. Calories are not the same. It is the nutritional quality of the food that counts. A soda is 140 calories and spikes you insulin 130 of almonds 30 of the calories go to feeding your gut and does not spike insulin. His mantra is protect your liver and feed your gut. Too much insulin is bad for the liver!4

Annie - you might call around to places like O'Reilly's or NAPA stores (dealing in auto parts, not sure if they have them in DE but probably have similar) and see if you can bring the car to them and have them sell you a battery and replace it for you right there. They'll take the old battery off your hands too. If you can get the car to run. Otherwise, make sure to take the old battery in when you buy the new one, and get rid of it that way. You are a sharp cookie, you've probably already taken care of it.

Not yet , I was planning on calling today., no more episodes.
Well, I felt ssooooo bad for Kirby.
First he made his reservation for 9:30PM instead of his intended 9:30AM
Second, when we were on our way so he could be there at 7:30pm, he looked at the reservation and found that they delayed the flight 2 hours, so he had to wait at the airport for 4hours. I couldn’t stay with him because I brought yogi with us so he could see his father off.
Third, when I called him later to tell him how sorry I was and to think positive, he told me the flight got delayed AGAIN, so he didn’t leave til 1:20AM.
He called me to tell me he landed at 2:something this morning, I felt so bad for him, a day wasted. He walked from the airport to his hotel which was 4.30miles. I had him turn on his Strava app so I could follow him. He has the Hoover dam tour at 8:30am. I’m glad I encouraged him to take a nap when he was here before taking him to the airport.

I am sitting in the car outside the doctor's office waiting for Jake to get a blood test. Annie is in the back seat. She watched out the window for awhile and after I gave her a treat, she lay down and went to sleep
Annie We got the new battery at Les Schwab Tire where they installed it and took the old battery for disposal
Heather going to your favourite shops sounds like great physical therapy

Pip - How horribly frustrating for Kirby. But it seems pretty normal these days. Certainly in the UK. Grrrrrr!
Well, poor John was crying on the phone when I went downstairs. He was locked out of his bank accounts, one of which I share with him. No-one seemed able to help him, though I believe someone had said it could be his phone, which he didn't believe.
After lunch he decided to go down to the actual branch in Hove. A very nice clerk worked with him for 50 mins, but to no avail. So he got her to move all his money out of his single account into another bank where he has an account. He has left the joint account for me.
Then he thought, as he was out and about, he would catch the bus into Brighton and visit his phone provider. The woman there took the SIM card out and put it back in again, and lo! Loads of messages from his bank! It was obviously the SIM card which had temporarily reverted to emergency use only. So she gave him a new card to be sure. He is going to wait until tomorrow to try to access his accounts, but I suspect it will be fine now, and the security code will get through OK.
What a palaver!
It's always simple when you know how. But I think the Santander people could have talked him through the idea of that possibility. The WiFi on the phone was working, and most people communicate by WhatsApp over here. So he had no idea why messages weren't getting through.
He seems a lot happier, but a bit angry with Santander for not being more helpful.
We live and learn. I was quite pleased with myself for not getting drawn in to John's acute distress. I decided it was his problem and just suggested he visit the branch with his passport etc. As he was leaving, I shouted to him that he had forgotten his phone, and they might want to check it to see if he had barred them, or something. Yes!!! That saved the day, as it turned out.
I walked to the local shops and visited all my favourites. Carried rather too much home, so it was a bit of a struggle, but I made it. Feels good. I've had a well deserved nap.

My insurance provides a benefit called DietID. So now I’m doing 3 online but following the Pre-diabetes class I’m taking. The DietID site is not user friendly and I told the health coach as much. Lo and Behold, the development manager contacts me and we end up having an hour call yesterday discussing changes to the site. She has now asked me to be a Beta tester for the program! I said yes. This should be interesting! The 3 I’m doing is the pre diabetes class using the Hope 80/20 program. A health program that my grocery store offers which I get $1 off produce for every 1000 points I acquire from finishing goals! I’ve gotten close to $10 for simply logging yes or no every day to the goals! And now, the DietID one from my insurance. None take any time at all to log onto and I’m finding it fun for now. It may get old after a while, but we will see. I’ll log as long as I see progress in my weight loss!
Yesterday dinner was a roasted chicken thigh, lots of baby carrots boiled, roasted potatoes and a dinner roll DH made garlic bread out of.
This guy was trying to get into my door last evening. He was huge! We have many dragon and damsel flies here. First time I see these colors.
My sinuses are draining and I don’t feel like I have an infection so no doctor necessary, however, I am going to my therapist this morning, and looking into a new PC. Not really happy with my current one. They are great with the blood work and review but it seems that is all they do. We need more at this point, especially DH who needs a full physical. So the search is on.
