Today is: a day to rest!

Barbie, thank you for starting us off on the right track for September!
My vertigo is very minimal these days. Just a couple swirling (and not complete swirls, those make me catch my breath). My head, and neck are achy but that usually takes a bit to get over.
Nice weekend for me though. On Thursday I was able to video chat with my middle sister. She found another album with loads of photos of our eldest sister, baby photos and also lots of photos of our Mom's childhood. I'm thinking this was the album my eldest sister had wished for a couple of years ago, but my sister had misplaced it. Amazing because she just lives in the basement there, how many places could it have been? It was a nice conversation for about 2 hours. I talked with my eldest sister the next day about it. We might just save our middle sister from "delegating" who gets what photo, and who gets originals etc, by my eldest sister and I visiting my middle sister in the next couple months. Personally I think all baby photos of my eldest sister should just go directly to her, no copies made. They are her photos. Anywhooo, fun times in a druggy basement...
On Friday night we were able to video chat with our middle son, Athena, and eldest son in CA chimed in too! Athena is enjoying going to kindergarten and making friends.💖👍🏼 It's always nice to sit and watch my sons chatting with each other. My youngest son had duty I think. He was able to chat with me in video chat as he was walking off base in Japan. He is managing but he's definitely at a crossroads in relation to what he's dealing with. He seems upbeat about it though.💖🙏
Eldest💖
Youngest💖
Didn't get a screenshot of Athena, and the eldest and middle though. We were too busy, I forgot!
Oh a NSV these days. My nails have finally started to grow! Its been years since I had any. They are rock hard.
Lousy photo but you get the idea. Its hard to hold a tablet, click the button with one hand!😂
Oh up at 6:40 am today, getting ready for another week of exercising! Well for a couple days (Tuesday-Thursday).
Hugs ladies!

So sorry Annie.
I found myself really sad, having to say goodbye to my gorgeous surgeon today. He's signed me off, and hopes my knee will get better by itself. Seems optimistic. Otherwise, it's going to be an expensive re-visit!
I did have a crush on him, and there is that business of him having seen my every naked part! Excellent bedside manner, so attentive. Felt very down when I got home. I have had severe crushes on doctors before and even wrote a short story about one of them. Oh well.
In real life I haven't fancied any men since I met John. Of course, the occasional TV person pops into my consciousness. Just reminds me I'm not dead yet.
Yesterday's meet up with my old friend lasted 4 hours! We chatted on the seafront after the fish lunch. She is heavily into psychological workshops, even though she teaches similar, and she and her male partner go to tantric s e x workshops and more. What fun! I think the poor people at the next table were scandalised. Otherwise the chat was the usual, about holidays, careers etc. Definitely will meet her up in London when I'm more mobile.
Now must go and prepare dinner. Baked cod with crispy topping and crushed peas with olive oil.

Barbara AHMOD-I'm actually kind of back to start. When the place I loved wanted me to move everything up to August (NO) while waiting for money back, I gave alot more thought to what I want and need. A couple of weeks ago they came back to me with. decent offer for the place I love and I could take possession mid November. I thought about living in two places, etc. for several months most likely and decided it was stupid to spend the extra money (and if would have been a chunk). I also started considering if I would not be better served to move into a place that has independent living with an assisted living option-that could cut down on a move. I don't think I need real assistance right this minute, but it can change anytime. So I am taking my time and working back down the list!
Debbie-very good news about your mom's roommate. Unbelievable she did not let the gentleman know she was leaving-i hope she didn't take any of his possessions with her! I would guess he mainly just had a few clothes but still-what a piece of work!
Still been taking it easy today-researching some internet stuff. Stopped by store for a few things. Laundry in dryer.
Talk of decluttering has me empowered to go clear off my office desk!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

came across this- from our 35th reunion- Out in the middle of a huge vineyard. Very rustic.
We now have the reunions at another classmates winery-not so far up a dirt road as this one was.
this one was our multi-class reunion at the winery-4 classes together. Our next one will just be 2 classes I think

Debbie – the roommate didn’t need to say goodbye. As long as she’s gone, who cares??? That’s nice of your mom to let that migrant worker sleep in her garage. What about his things?
Frenchfancy – welcome! What kind of protein breakfast did you have?
Barbara – I won’t clean for Denise. I only get to see my grandson two days out of the year and I will not spend that time cleaning. Besides, if I were to clean, what kind of message would that send to Denise, Pete, and PJ “you can’t clean good enough so I’ll do it for you”. No, I’d rather make memories with PJ than clean. Heck, they can hire a cleaning lady if they need to. I’d want to put things away, and it probably wouldn’t be where they would want it, so that would only create friction. No way.
Annie – good for you on that bike
Seems we are going to start bringing in the Christmas decorations
Rebecca – my nails have always been on the soft side
Gotta go start bringing in the decorations. This should be VERY interesting with 4 curious kitties.
Michele NC6 -
Michele ~ Would love to see photos of the kitties!
What kind of decorations are you bringing in? I suppose Fall ones.
Heather ~ Had to look up the workshops your friend conducts. WOW! Another new word/term for me.
Ginny ~ Thoughtful to think about future living needs. I hope you find a place that you like and that will also be good as you continue to go through life.
Rebecca ~ Your 3 sons look so much alike! Glad you are able to have ZOOMs with them.

Yes, it put my mind at ease a bit, seeing them all. My youngest has a lot on his plate, and his Crohn's possibility might just do his career in, but we talked about the possibility of that. He knows the reality of this. I told him there is loads more testing they have to do in order to officially diagnose him with it, so stay objective, but also come to terms with the worst possible outcome. He agreed with me on that. And will also speak with his Chaplain on all these things, to help him get thru.💖👍🏼

MFP Weekly Check-in for September 2, 2024
Rita in Roswell NM – My work paid off! Down 3.1 pounds last week to 171.5, 2.8 for month of August, 10.8 for the last 90 days, 7.9 for last 6 months, 1 pound for year which tells me I put a lot of this weight on this year and now am losing ‘old’ weight. And I am 35 pounds less than my highest weight 8 years ago of 210! Heading in this right direction with this eating plan for life!
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - WT 129.0 lowest since last December. August average down 1.7lb from July average. All activities (BB&B, line dance, Zumba, steps and PT) fell off completely the past 3 weeks due to cold and C-19 negative fatigue. Since no activity to track, no idea about sugar, CI<CO or AF?.
Debbie in Napa Valley CA – 149.4- up just a little bit over last week.
Lanette in SW WA State – weight staying in range, set point staying under 160 for the past few weeks. Still walking after each meal if possible for 10 minutes, in the house, carrying 3 or 5 lb. weights. On my way to building sustainable diet and exercise habits.1 -
Another project done, before and after p

Carol - My friend doesn't lead the tantric workshops. She goes to them with her partner. And other types of s e x and gender and orientation workshops. It's obviously doing her the world of good. Full of energy and bounce at 69!
Her workshops are in self-development and self confidence for women. Sort of 'change your life' type thing. She is now training teachers of her work. She texted me to say that the kind of conversation we had yesterday "really feeds me". I loved it too.

I am still mentally and physically exhausted from the Friday night/all day Saturday workshop I just led. I love doing those things. It is my passion and my calling. But then I do need a few days to recover.
I love my high school reunions. I am still very close to many of my classmates. I have never attended a college reunion. There would be 4 different sets and I wasn’t close to the groups as a whole. I do keep in touch with one roommate. We have lunch about twice a year and keep up via Facebook. I kept up with one or two from my doctoral cohort for a while, but we’ve drifted apart.
I just got your donation, thx so much!!

Carol – here they are when we first got them, We were bringing in the Christmas (yes, Christmas) decorations. I already have the popcorn strung for the trees
You know, while we were bringing in the decorations, Vince took about 3 breaks, he had to sit down. Then I went in the pool and he took a nap. I do find that the older I get, the slower I am. But I get the job done. Maybe I have more stamina than he has or maybe it’s because he’s older than I am (only a month).
Tomorrow the plan is to work, then I have to count the donations at the church, then take the donations to the soup kitchen. They’re having this parade of canned goods, they weigh them. Afterwards, I’m thinking I’ll go to the nursery and get 2 more plants that I can plant. Probably come home and plant them.
Took a walk to Food Lion to get Gatorade for Vince. I didn’t know that I could have used the kiosk for another $1 coupon but I did this time. So in the end it was $4.99 where as it’s usually $6-something. Came home, took a shower, and will probably get to bed in a bit
Tomorrow I need to call Exodus Homes to see when the guys can transplant the plants for me. I also need to call Food Lion because I hadn’t downloaded the monthly offers and I got one item. Then I want to call the eye md to see if this irritation is normal and when will it go away?
Pip – lovely planter. Did you use stencils or draw it freehand?
Off to bed.

Barbara - That was a big scary step for you going the Clutterbug for a month. It’s a huge step for you and you should be proud of yourself.
I had never thought of the viewpoint that offering to help could make someone feel judged. My eldest daughter struggles terribly with her house, I have gone several times and helped her. Turns out she has ADHD and my style of organizing does not work for her at all. I hope she has never felt judged. I had to ask her, she said she never has when I’ve offered to help because she knows I’m not judgey but she can see with a friend’s mom how easily that can happen. So I guess it depends on who is offering the help maybe.
Lisa - I need to go buy some of that infusible tape. I bought new curtains and need to shorten them. I could sew them, but I’m too lazy to dig out the machine.
Lanette - Kaitlyn is a trained stylist but not licenced. She was doing her apprenticeship hours when Covid hit and they were shut down. She had already decided that she had made a mistake and didn’t like it. When she confessed to Brodey he calculated that 10 years of his haircuts would pay for her education. She does everyone’s hair but mine and my other SIL’s. She doesn’t like doing curly hair so won’t cut mine, she will colour it or trim my bangs for me though.
She is now a site administrator at a heavy equipment training school. She just completed her first three months and they are expanding her role and have named her their shining star for August.
She is very much like me.
Brodey told me yesterday I was just fitting in with the rest of them going to school and not going into the profession.
Rebecca - The suitcase is a good way of doing it. Most of my “stuff” now is not anything I really want to get rid of. Although, we need to have some craft days because other people have started projects here. Since those people are my girls they would only be cleaning their own stuff.
Annie - Hugs 🥰. It’s a hard road to be on and doing it alone must be exhausting.
Kelly - lots of diapers! I’m so glad you took an actual vacation, and you didn’t get sick this one!
Rebecca - I’m so happy for you that you’re in contact with all sons these days.
Those pinecone flowers are gorgeous.
Heather - what a great visit! Sorry you’ll be missing your doctor, but hopefully he’s right and you won’t need to see him again.
Michele - If you start now when do you have your decorating done?
Pip - I love what you do to revive pieces.
Machka - What a view!
I made a Mr & Mrs Scarecrow for the office today. Other than that I did a load of laundry and picked up a few groceries. A nice day all in all. Very hot for September.

I've just been asked to submit a review of my surgeon. I saw every single one was 5 stars. I followed suit.
John said he would accompany me to M&S later this morning on the bus. We might have a sandwich lunch there. I always have an egg and watercress sandwich with extra salt and pepper, and an Earl Grey tea. Also, we can buy something for dinner that's easy. He is hoping I can find some clothes for my birthday in October. I'm looking for a jacket/blazer, in the new styles. I also want to try on jeans, to see if I can find a comfortable pair. Not hopeful.
I've spent the last hour trying to mend Edie's small lawn quilt. Bea kicked holes it it! I bought some iron on fusible fabric, which I had to Google how to use, and it looks pretty good. I'm not confident of being able to do much stitching, without it looking horrible, but I will try. She has such faith in me! I will investigate invisible tacking. But, I will have to advise her to put it somewhere where it won't get damaged again!
I was absolutely knackered by the time I had finished ironing! Oouuff!

Today’s gratitude: the energy to go back to Better Bones and Balance class. Actually got a little endorphin boost afterwards, whod'v'e thunkit? ;}
Kylia, Michele, Debbie the kitten pics.
Heather and Tracey, thanks for the clutterbug encouragement. Today’s five things were these old landline connectors and cords, They are strung through the cabinets and wall between kitchen and livingroom so I got out the snips and ruthlessly cut them off.
Didn’t follow the program, instead put things away and spent more than 5 minutes but proud of myself anyway. Tomorrow is refrigerator. Nothing in there I want/need to discard so will look around the kitchen for 5 things to leave our house forever.Overview before:Time to snooze before Tuesday’s casserole-a-thon.

I skim read the rest of August. @Barbiecat Thank you for keeping us on track.
I was up to my eyes with prep for my groups restarting yesterday. The admin is my least favourite part of my volunteer work. Yesterday morning, my creative writers had some great work to share with the group. It never ceases to amaze me that a prompt elicits so many different responses. It’s worth all the hard work. After lunch I had my Monday Painters, so creatively I’m well sated. Today I have no outside commitments so can catch up with you lovely ladies.
Find the dragon. What a cute little guy hiding in the ‘bushes’. I’ve spent so much time catching up, and I didn’t take notes. I enjoyed all the photos, especially Michele’s kittens. They are adorable. (to look at 😂) I have to go get dressed and have my breakfast. DH is out at badminton this morning so, like Heather, I am enjoying some me time.
August was a good month for me. I managed to drop a couple of lbs, and am almost back when I want to be, so I will continue on my present track until I am back in the middle of my desired weight range. It’s a balancing act between muscle retention and weight loss 😜
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Annie – I’ve always seen the emotional breakdown during a very stressful time as a way to take a deep breath, hands on your knees, pulling in oxygen, before starting again. You can’t just keep breathing out to run, you must breathe in as well, and it’s probably been a while since you’ve done that. Surrounding you with love and hugs from here, kiddo.
Heather – Your friend sounds interesting! Your surgeon does too… 🤔👀🤣
Ginny – The right decision for the place to retire will present itself when it’s time, I have faith in you!
Debbie – Glad your mom’s moocher has finally departed.
Rebecca – The conversations with all the sons sound wonderful So pleased your big fellas are all ticking right along.
Pip – Love the planter. It definitely needs green, but I’m just beginning to keep things alive, so no advice on living vs. fake plants. I think it would be great with seasonal fake flowers, so change them out four times a year.
Machka – Love the view from your new windows. What a wonderful thing to watch as the seasons change.
Michele – Love the kittens!
Tracey – If your curtains are insulated ones, you might not be able to use fusible web, and I tend to use it only in very small places. If you do use it, I would definitely do a double line of it. I always hated doing hems, and have been known to use staples and duct tape, in a pinch. Or drag the sewing machine out, woman, and hem them while they’re hanging up! Kaitlyn sounds a lot like me, as well. Kinda loving Brodey, and it sounds like you do, too. Love the cuts and haircolor for the youngsters... and loving the scarecrows. I'm looking into how to make cloth pumpkins, but didn't like any of the stem ideas until I found one that says use cinnamon sticks. One cloth tube, a few gathering stitches and some fluff, and you've got a pumpkin!
Barbara AHMOD – The kitchen looks great!
Terri – The creative swim you’re in sounds wonderful. I always liked the administrative side of things, too, though. Like keeping a room clean that you’re in, just a little tidying up here and there. 🧹🧼🫧 😹
More later, most likely,
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Allie hope you feel better!
Rita down 3 Yay!
Pip how cute!
Kelly wow! All the diapers!
Michele the kittens are darling!
Barbara you are doing so well with Clutterbug!
Tracey and Heather and Lisa thanks!
Well yesterday was a crappy day. My dad thought the trickle charger was done and unplugged it. If he can't leave it alone, we will have to sell the car which will be hard for him. He asked me where the keys were again. He said he had to go buy gasoline for the lawnmower. He just doesn't get that he can't drive anymore. So I put a note on the charger saying do not disconnect.
And my Amazon package was ripped open and missing a book. I tried to report it as missing parts and it offered to send me the wrong book. So I shut that down and just reordered it.
I got whiny and cried and leaned on my sister. She said to do some self care, but that doesn't
feel soothing to me. At least I didn't eat anything extra. I read a bit. James Patterson the Ladies Murder Club series. But I also did a bit on my bike.
Last Friday I spent six hours trying to to get samples from Teddy for the vet. And then the vet was closed for the holiday weekend so I need to get fresh samples this week. I don't know how to work that into the schedule.
Well today will be a better day. Dad has his class so I get time for groceries and a shower. Hope I can improve my attitude.
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!
