Hi everyone;
Allie, I am so excited for you on the cruise. You will have fun. Just get healthy.
Lisa- Take care of yourself. I love those bags! You are so talented, and it makes me happy to hear your joy in the craft room.
Heather- You are doing so great getting your steps in. I need to get my act together now. Moving my body will keep me out of a wheelchair.
Pip, do you take the dogs with you on your long walks? Will you continue to bike? Next time you bike for a cause, let me know. I want to donate, too.
Heather, maybe you can volunteer to help the teachers at a nearby school. Kids sometimes need one-on-one help to read. Working at the soup kitchen is also fulfilling. Do whatever makes you happy.
Goodnight everyone!
XO,
Mo

Heather - another active day for you. It must feel so nice being able to get out to do things.
So fortunate your brother was home! Any electrical appliance has the opportunity to catch fire I guess.
Machka - I bet your walks outside are quite enjoyable with your new view.
Allie - I do all of my typing in my notes app then copy and paste it into the thread. I only “chat” when using my phone and I found this the easiest way.
Barbara - I hope the pain continues to ease.
I probably would be able to get a sit/stand desk but I don’t think it’s necessary. I just need to remind myself to get up more regularly. I haven’t rearranged it yet. It’s a very tiny and awkwardly shaped office. One wall is a door, and windows that face into the lounge, one wall is the door to my bosses office, the other two walls have built in locking cupboards. The printer is also in there. I have figured out how to put everything except the filing cabinet I really need. So I’m still working it out in my head.
Lisa - I seemed to have missed what happened, I hope you’re feeling much better.
Margaret - I don’t leave appliances going when I’m leaving or going to bed either. I had a dishwasher that stuck on the heat dry cycle all night one night years ago. Lesson learned.
The dryer thing I had beat into my head as a kid.
Dryers and toasters are high sources of fires. All old appliances are a concern though.
Monique - Edmonton is the capital of Alberta in Canada.
You go ahead and scrap lift. I love stealing ideas myself.
I do not have a picture of myself when I was expecting either child. I regret that.
Lanette - when I was trying to get healed from my hip the exercise therapist I saw, that helped more than anyone else, told me not to sit for longer than 20 minutes at a time and then to get up and walk for a couple of minutes. She said even walking in place is helpful and she gave me some simpler exercises to do that could be done in my office. I still do them.
Barbie - I think we’ve all had those thoughts of freedom before.
I remember a particularly bad stretch wishing I was hospitalized so someone would look after me for a while.
Then there is this I always think of too:
Ceramics tonight and I struggled to paint anything. It was a cold dreary day and I think I just wanted to go to bed.
I’ve come home and caught up with you lovelies, now off to bed.

Enjoying reading along.
Mo: I was feeling quite pleased myself. I had lost 75lbs using MFP over the previous 18 months. DH was fully supportive of all my efforts. It’s his 78th birthday today.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Today’s gratitude: the two volunteer substitute line dance teachers and our “village” of line dancers. It takes all of us to remember dances we haven’t done in a while. Our regular teacher is traveling for two or three weeks.
Was late to BB&B but made myself go in. Half hour better than none. Then line danced for an hour and a half, with lots of breaks
Lisa thanks for the OUT LOUD idea, will give it a try. You are so right about how easy it is to devalue our labor. Well thought out. Beautiful purse!
Heather thanks for the pics of your garden. Are there no fences between you and your rear neighbors?
Carol (and Mo) hard to believe it’s been 23 years since the terrorist attacks. It was one of those rare mornings when I had the TV news on and saw the second plane hit the tower. Another morning it was when the Space Shuttle Columbia exploded. I no longer watch live TV news in the mornings. The company I worked for had offices just across the Hudson with beautiful views of Manhattan and the two towers. So traumatic for the workers to see it all happen, and fear for loved ones there. Sure has sadly changed our world forever.
Annie, back on the bike twice a day AND early morning walk with Dad and friend? You are doing so very very well! Sorry to hear Dad tripped, hope no long term effects.
Terri, “…not as resilient as I would like…” preaching to the choir ;}
Kim, thinking of you too. ((hugs))
Margaret like you, we never leave the house with the clothes dryer running. Had never heard of dishwashers catching fire, but not a problem for us, we only use it for plasticware storage
Mo heartbreaking of your daughter to steal your wedding rings. Your comments about guns and teens are spot on, with the sad reinforcement of your patients.
Rita, That was a too close call for your Mom. ((hugs)) for you and Brownie.
Barbie “… didn’t run away but I enjoyed the moments of freedom” Yes this!
Rebecca hooray for walking by the marina and marsh. Fresh air and a way better view than from the treadmill ;} How long will your eldest be home?
Tracey that pic of the cat at the steering wheel, in traffic, caught the expression perfectly!
Telemedicine tomorrow am to get results of breast MRI and next steps, so time to snooze.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

I've made an appointment with Dr. Lisa. I had all of the tests Machka mentioned when I herniated a disc L5/S1 thirty years ago and 2 prednisone packs which helped a lot. Dr. Lisa will determine if I need more tests and if so, which ones. Now that I made the appointment, watch it get better.
Tracey - I have lumbar supports, various pillows, memory foam seat cushions. I make it a point to sit tall and not hunch over when I'm at the laptop. I think my only solution is to get up and move/walk as much as possible. I think the computer monitor/tower/keyboard arrangement is more ergonomically friendly, with the monitors adjustable to eye level. I took the ones we had around here to recycle, they were so old. Not much memory, monitors super heavy, keyboards sticky. That set-up isn't very expensive these days but I'm done spending money on computers this year after buying the new laptop.

30 years ago is a long time. Hopefully your doctor will order some new tests ... or that it will resolve itself.
I have a sit-stand desk at work, and plan to get one for home too once the office room is a bit more accessible. I really like being able to alternate between sitting and standing. Sometimes I think standing helps me focus. This morning I drove to the pharmacy alone to pick up prescriptions for Jake. I felt free in the car with no dog and no "navigator". I listened to my music from my phone. On the way back I had a sudden recollection of stories from TV, the news, and novels of women with perfectly good lives who drove their children to school one morning and just kept going until they reached another town and got an apartment and a job and never looked back. One podcast I listen to called that "obliger rebellion" when someone just gets tired of doing for others and goes off where they don't have to answer to anyone. I didn't run away but I enjoyed the moments of freedom.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying some moments of freedom and a break from the routine.
Kinda describes my job ...
Machka in Oz4 -
With regard to just keeping on driving to a new place, I have read a few novels like that. Of course, changing our lives really is an option. Luckily, I love mine at the moment, but it wasn't always that way ........
Having small children was a very, very, difficult time for me. I was severely depressed. I wrote a short story, called 'Desperate Measures', about a woman who just decided to stay in bed for evermore until she died. She did not pick the kids up from school, and spent the time musing about how other people would react to her opting out of life. It was her own mini rebellion. I don't know what happened to her after the story ended, but it was how I felt at the time.
We often develop tunnel vision about our lives, and can't see that they could be totally different. We just tinker with the edges. But sometimes we have to leave the old and familiar in order to embrace a new vision of how our lives could be. Unfortunately, it is often some crisis that prompts us into changing our lives, but we can do it whenever we feel called. Is it comfortable? No. It involves hard choices, but staying in the same old familiar miserable groove is also hard. Choose your hard. We have one life. One 'wild and precious life'.
Going to start putting together my new cabinet this morning. I'm not pressurising myself to get it done in one go.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Lisa what a gorgeous bag!
Terri happy birthday to DH!
Dad seemed to be okay all yesterday but this morning will be the test. ( After his minor fall yesterday morning.)
I am feeling rather happy too. I've been walking twice a week and riding the stationary bike a lot too. I do have soreness in the top of my foot, not sure what that's about. I have also gotten back into the meditation and that is going well. And I'm losing weight again. Yay!
I tried and rejected Mindfulness.com. Too much clutter on the free version. Insight timer app seems to be much better so far.
It's time to figure out if I need new clothes for my October trip to Las Vegas. I've been living in XL sweats, and most of my nicer clothes are size L. Hmm. I sense Amazon is going to love me!
Have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

I did it! And all in one go!
Crawling around with two dodgy hips and one dodgy knee was not the easiest, but I managed. The instructions were very good, everything labelled, but I did puzzle over which way to put in the hinges! Got it right. Took my time.
Pleased with self.
I haven't put anything in it yet, but that can wait. It has one shelf.

Happy Thursday! (OK, I had to take a look at my pill caddy to see what day it was, but still...😂)
So... I'm having a day of gratitude today. Next week, I'll take my second home injection of Skyrizi. Five years ago now, in 2019, this whole journey began for me. It took them two years to decide it was ulcerative colitis, and a year and a number of tests, etc. afterward to decide it is also Crohn's disease. Since April, the medication has brought me 75 to 80 percent back to my normal life. So many things I took for granted before are back:
Happy organ recital:- When I wake up, I can get my legs off the side of the bed and draw the alphabet with my toes instead of running hell for leather for the bathroom. Every. Single. Day.
- More and more nights, I can sleep through the night without getting up to go. For years, it was every two hours or so. Now, I can sleep for 7 to 8 hours straight.
- The poopy smell in the house (and hopefully hovering around me) has subsided. I don't worry constantly over whether there's been leakage without me knowing.
- Laundry is back to something reasonable, I'm not having accidents five, six, seven times a day, and the majority of days I get through with none.
- The overall urgency has subsided enormously, and when I do have to go, I'm able to simply walk to the bathroom, rather than scuttle at speed.
- The every-waking-moment, bend-over in pain cramps in my gut have diminished to once or twice a week.
- The bloating has dropped to a few days a week instead of 24-7 - I just thought I was getting fatter and the scale didn't show it!
- Trips to the bathroom have dropped from 25+ per day to five to eight each day.
- Most days, my brain is less foggy--I still have my moments, but don't feel as if I'm groping mentally ALL the time.
- I'm once again able to concentrate and focus for more than five minutes without my body distracting me.
- I can drive into town about a half hour away and not have to visit a bathroom at McDonalds every time before I go where I'm going. I know where every bathroom is in every store I visit, though!
- My energy levels are BACK baby!
But I'm not spending more time in the bathroom than out, and I'm so enjoying that! My life is full again, and not a constant recital of my woes to people that I love. I feel like I can discuss something besides my butt! 😹 Seriously, I could not be more grateful. It's not the first time that modern medicine has kept me alive, and I appreciate every single one of those times.
I have been reading everyone's post, and I'll get back in the swim of things, but right now, there's chores to do and things to MAKE!
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR8 -
Lisa ~ So very happy for you. You have been through so much trauma with your symptoms and glad you have found help at last. Hope it continues.
Going to get my new hearing aids this morning. Will be so happy if they work well and I can hear one on one again.
Carol in GA4 -
Mo - so sorry to hear about your trigger thumb and the doc visit on that. Also, happy for you and your DH that you have a daughter and son after what you went through. Horace had a close call!
Pip - I lost your address to send a check for the MS Society. Rats. I don't do donations online to limit information exposure, so could you please let me know where to send it?
Yesterday I finally remembered to freeze my credit with two credit agencies, having done Equifax a couple years ago. When I went to open an IRA account at the credit union this spring, I had to unfreeze my credit at Equifax first. So, it works!
Barbie - I was happy to hear you got a break and were able to run an errand alone. You needed that! Hope you get many more.
Lisa - gorgeous bag. I admire your patience. Can't wait to see your next creations. Great news about the progress you've made in the bathroom department.
Terri - Happy Birthday to your DH!
Barbara - I love hearing about your line dancing and BB & B sessions. How far do you have to drive? Here I am not wanting to go to town because it's 25 miles at least, round trip. Roger and Mrs. Roger across the road go someplace at least once a day, which is great - though lately it seems it's doctor visits for her. But they have together time and they always grab a meal.
Annie - Good to hear your dad is OK after his tumble. I think getting outside and walking helps my outlook. Something about being in nature and the morning sun I bet
Rosemarie - what are you up to these days? We miss you and hope you are doing well.
Yesterday turned out to be a busy day. More cleaning and decluttering DH's office space inside the shop. Mostly vacuuming up kitty litter the cat dragged in there. I found a huge bag of cords under the workbench. (Yes, there was even kitty litter in that bag .) Some were computer cords, some electrical cords that power radios and small electronics. One of these days I'll sort them - probably most will go in the garbage.
Then, I decided to play a Leslie Sansone walking DVD. Didn't get very far. My foot was cranky and so was Rosie - she wanted me to throw her toys down the hall so kept barking and getting in my way. Which was fine, all of that bending over, picking them up and tossing them down the hall is good exercise too.
I'm heading to town this morning, running errands and lunch with M, which I'm looking forward to. I feel so fortunate to have found a new/old friend and she feels the same way. I know I've told this story before - She was just a casual acquaintance 25 years ago when we were both managing 911 Centers and I'd see her at conferences and state meetings. Cordial but not close. What a stroke of luck that we ran into each other at Walmart last year; they had moved here after she retired. And had been living in this community for nearly a decade! It's just a monthly lunch - otherwise, no demands on each other's time or space. Just perfect.
Make it a fabulous day!

We walk all 3 dogs for the six miles. I do continue riding. We have a spin bike and my bike on a bike trainer at home too.
I do this MS ride every year in September. You can still donate for this years ride if you want. I will send you the link if you want to do it online or you can mail a check to me. Make sure to make the check out to NATIONAL MS SOCIETY and not me.

Good morning!
Vacation winding down and it is sad. But rain in forecast here for next 7 days. This was our evening sky 2 nights ago
It was amazing! They are out of order but still amazing.
Heather, Lisa, and Carol- continued healing! It is nice to see your better selves come alive on the pages!
Mo Finding a good hand doctor is rare! Two carpel tunnel surgeries and both thumb joints done by same surgeon. Praying I don't need any more as he has passed. I hope the shots bring you relief. It has been nice getting to know you!
Terry Happy birthday to your DH.
Solo drives are one of my favorite activities! I need to do more!
Congratulations on the losses and healthy changes!
Healing thoughts!
Allergies-Local honey is the BEST preventative. I use to get allergy based bronchitis three times a year and DH was on 2 nasal sprays and 2 allergy pills a day. I haven't had bronchitis in 5 years . I have been using local honey about 10 yrs. DH is down to one spray and one pull a day. He only joined the honey thing about 4 years ago. It is amazing!
Better get my day started.
Hugs, love, and a day of laughter!

Had a chat with my brother after lunch. He is not doing too badly, though the night nasal feeding interferes with his sleep. Two more weeks of radiotherapy to go, then he starts on chemo.
His kitchen is a mess, but he has a professional company in today, cleaning off the smoke damage. The insurance people are coming tomorrow to check out the soaked floor, which is ruined. Unfortunately, the laminate goes underneath the units, but I'm sure that can be sorted.
Narrow escape. Normally, they put the dishwasher on at night, but his daughter had put it on while she was washing up.
My niece has postural vertigo, and went to A&E last night. They asked her if she was under extra stress recently! Luckily her husband/wife, Paige, has just found another job after being made redundant some months ago. My brother has been helping them financially.
Lisa - So pleased life has some semblance of normality now. And don't we appreciate the little things when we have got them back!
Now for my nap. I've just bought a new handbag from Amazon in this season's burgundy colour. It will go with all my outerwear, which is black, grey, and beige. I wanted one big enough, but not too big and heavy like my leather one.

I am not sure how long his squadron will be up here. I will take whatever I can get. Oh sent a text to youngest saying "your momma needs an update", and Lord and behold he texted right back:
"Hey mom! On duty today. Right now they really haven't done much except let me know I have iron deficiency, so I'm taking pills for that atm
Have a appointment on the 24th out in town with a gastro doctor".
So things are moving with him as well. I told him we should video chat this weekend, as his brother will be here. He agreed and seemed in a good mood! Texted with exclamation marks.😁
Well vertigo was back last night every time I rolled over. I usually try to sit up then change so its not too much of a swirling feeling. But now this morning my head, eyeballs, and neck are achy. 🙄
Life moves forward. Hugs all!

Ordered part to fix one of our toilets. It is the seal for the overflow fill part. It costs about $10. To call a plumber it would have been over $100 to fix that is if they had the correct part. I had to call the manufacturer to make sure I got it right. If I had just gone to the hardware store I might have gotten the wrong part or more than I needed. It will take about a week to get the part. In the meantime I will manually have to adjust it so the water does not continue to run. That gets pricey pretty fast.
It is going to get hot here today so I plan to take an afternoon nap with AC. My friend with pool is working so I will not be doing that. Maybe this weekend if weather cooperates.6 -
