Doing BB deadlift last after a full workout...that's being evil to yourself for sure! lol

Haha I didn't really have a choice today... no power racks at the gym is visited today. Only one Olympic bar and it was on the bench press bench 🙄
It was a test of will! :-P

    Treadmill - 1 hr, 3.0 mph, 12% incline

Stepped on a digital scale, one of those you hold the arms and it zaps you all over to read water retention, muscle vs fat, etc. According to the results, I'm up about 2 lbs from before I took my gym break (I admit to eating lots of cookies, but not THAT many) and my BF% is at 21%. Ugh.

After two days off at the hockey tourney (spectating ;) ), I was feeling a little burned out today: Around 250 miles on the road each day (passenger), 7 hours mostly spent in stadium seats both days (yeah, some shouting and standing), unusual food (not mega-nutritious), atypical sleep schedule, etc. Still no alcohol at all, though, because acetaminophen - more of that than my recent usual because of all the noise and jostling. It was fun, though, and our team won.

Anyhoo . . . wasn't feeling high energy today, so went for the bike again, the 10k + 3' I've been doing, 97W average which the bike thinks is 15.2mph, close to even split between Z2 and Z3, with only a minute or two below that, split between the start/end.

At least there was a workout. :D

Happy New Year, everyone: Wishing you an excellent 2025!

Climbing. Decent, I got lots of v4s. My favourite was basically monkey bars; probably very soft for the grade, but fun.

    29 December
    Caving. Digging our discovery cave.

    30 December
Hi ho, moar digging. Nearly got hypothermia , we surveyed the cave which required spending a long time under a waterfall. But all was fine in the end.

    31 December
    Digging.

Caving, actually did a spot of sport caving for a change. Joe and I decided to do a a shortcut coming back from the columns in OFD. It was a very muddy V2 boulder problem which would be death or severe injury if you slipped. Good fun.

I have been less frequent at the gym lately. I took the summer off as I always do. I got back at it in October. The staff recognize me, but I am actually feeling a bet sheepish to go back along with all the "extra" folks the first week or two of the year.

I reckon I'll stick to yard work this week and next.

Lazed around yesterday, but more machine rowing today, the 1k, 2k, 2k format with easy rowing/water-guzzling for 2 minutes between and at end. Average pace on the km pieces was 2:32.8 per 500m, little over half an hour including the between-kms bits, and (eep!) just over 50% of it Z4 . . . 9' above 220-age. But it felt OK, even if it maybe wasn't wise in current context?

Finished up with 2 sets of 3 kettlebell exercises with a light kettlebell, just to see how the iffy joints felt about the movements: 2-hand swings, goblet squats (but only to thighs parallel floor and with a chair behind me, because I don't need to risk falling backward at this point), and a kettlebell around the world variation in squat position.

    Calisthenics - 30 min

I guess you could call it calisthenics. My gym had a year-end fitness review for free, which included one personal trainer session. My guy had me doing a variety of squats, etc, using resistance bands to challenge balance, a band to tie knees together which had to be resisted by pushing out, and between sets was brief stints on the rowing machine to keep the heart rate up. By the end my legs were a little sore from working unused muscles, but really didn't feel like much of a workout for my time. Nothing against the trainer, I'm sure others would benefit, just not for me.

I'm just getting back into my excercise and weight loss journey after cancer then covid right after radiation ended then treatment for radiation injury followed by a bit of crazy anxiety and depression... but here i am... day 4 into restarting my journey back to fitness.

I started this before new years so that it wouldn't be an ill fated " resolution "

Today i did pool exercises. Various floor exercises but done in the water to reduce stress on my joints. Hip opener, high knee, bicep curl, wall pushups, total twist, crunches, triceps push down. A few others i don't know the names for.

Welcome, @Paschen81! I started getting routinely active right after full-bore cancer treatment, and kept going . . . one of the best things I've ever done for myself, now that I'm looking back from 20+ years later. I did it to recover normal strength and energy - maybe even happiness - post treatment, but it delivered not just that but so much more. Keep up that good stuff, I predict you'll be glad you did!

I went climbing for 2.5 hours. I got obsessed with a jump. After 50 minutes, I finally got it.

It was actually not that hard (maybe V3) but I am terrible at dynos. After 10 minutes, I realised it was feasible: I was getting both hands on the hold I was jumping to fairly reliably. But I was barn dooring off.

I eventually realised I could stop the barn door by landing my left foot on a volume simultaneously as getting the hand hold.

After this adjustment, I still wasn't quite holding it. Eventually I realised my hips were too far from the wall at the catch. So I concentrated on fixing that, and to my surprise, it worked.

Didn't post last night, pretty much dragging.

Yesterday, 10k + 3' stationary bike, little slower 86w average.

Today, rowing machine, the 1k/2k/2k format with 2' easy row in between. Total of 5791m.

Not much else in the way of stats, because my (bleep) Garmin decided 2 days in a row that it should delete the workout after I ended it, even though I swear I didn't touch that control. From looking at the display during the workouts, I think bike was mostly Z2, but today's row got into Z3 for quite a while, maybe a little bit just over the line into Z4.

Maybe it's time for a new Garmin.

Late evening, 3 sets of 10 of the same 3 kettlebell exercises I did a couple of days ago, still keeping it light, plus one set of hanging knee raises.

Being a former IT professional, I'm sure you already tried powering down your Garmin and turning it back on. If not, give it a try. I had some issues with mine about a year ago that drove me batty. I can't believe it took me so long to try power cycling it. It worked just fine after that and still does. I'm actually quite impressed that the thing still runs pretty much flawlessly after all the use it gets. For sure the battery life is a lot shorter than it was when it was new all those years ago.

    Upper Body - BB Day

    Bench Press 5x5
    BB Row 4x10
    Incline Bench Press 3x10
    Pullups 30 total reps
    BB Shrugs 3x10
    Seated BB OHP 3x10
    Preacher Curl 3x10
    Cable Pushdown 3x10
    Cable Woodchoppers 3x10

Back to work today, so back in the gym at 5am. Found all the New Year's Resolutions crowd...normally it's the same 15-20 people at that time, today was pushing 50, and that's just in the weights area. Not sure which will whittle the newcomers down faster...working out, or the time of day...
