I left food on my plate because I was full.18

My fitness age according to my Garmin watch had been pretty consistent ~57 for months (I just turned 63). Then it started a steady rise since October to reach 59. I rebooted my diet and exercise routine in January. I just checked - I'm at 57.5. Woohoo! I guess I've found the fountain of youth!17

This week in the mail, I got two fun things:
1. My pin for completing another Concept 2 Holiday Challenge, 200k rowing machine or 400k stationary bike, or a proportionate combination of both between US Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve (using Concept machines, of course). I have pins for every consecutive year from 2017 through 2024 so far, plus some intermittent completions before that, at least 2009, 2010, 2012.
2. My second Concept 2 5 million meter t-shirt and pin. That's not 10M meters on the same machine, it's 5M on each of two machines, in my case RowErg and BikeErg.
When I started learning to row back in 2002, as an obese 46-year-old woman who'd been a "chosen last in gym class" kid, I never would've believed this kind of thing would remotely be possible for me, ever, let alone now at age 69.
Keep at the good stuff persistently, surprising things can happen, I guess!
Very impressive and very inspiring.
Congratulations .
And thankyou for the words of wisdom...

spirittrail wrote: »@Overheadfan PS Certainly start right away and PROUDLY SAY.........I'M OBESE!!! Youll never be able to say that again and when you say that and know it........it helps to completely let it go!! Like a vacation to a destination you know you'll likely never see again. It puts you in the moment and actually makes you happy.....which boosts your enthusiasm to keep going. I did that and it made my journey so much FUN!! Make it pleasant the time passes more quickly 😆
@spirittrail
I just want to say I'M OBESE!
And having said that I'm even more motivated and enthusiastic about letting it go. I've visited that place for long enough, time to visit somewhere new.
And I've also taken your very excellent and fun advice ..and I've checked out Dr Hall's BMI chart ..love that! And I've also downloaded the Model My Diet app.
That's going to be a whole lot of fun too, and I really appreciate the suggestions.
Breaking the 93 kg ceiling ..cancel that...floor, (seeing as how I'm aiming to go down in weight and not up) will be a big deal for me, and I'll definitely keep you updated. Actually, being 7 kgs lighter than this time last year has been a real buzz too. Now I'm just keen to explore the next part of the journey.
Thanks so much for being happy to share your joy and enthusiasm with us all.9 -
Ready to do this.8

I'm away for work tonight and in a hotel, instead of my usual hotel snack of sweets and wine I bought a banana and cranberry juice.12

@Overheadfan When we fully accept who we are......we are able to begin implementing behaviors and habits to become who we want to become. I believe by denying our weight....we actually confuse ourselves and make the journey much harder. I knew someone so in denial, she actually told me the scale LIED (objects don't have that capacity) and that BMI charts numbers were impossibly small....therefore completely unrealistic. What I like about Dr Halls BMI is YOU get to decide if you want to be in the 45th percentile as your final goal. Or are finding it too stressful and making it to Overweight is a significant achievement. Years ago I read that it's best to just focus on a BMI of 28 as an end goal. Over time, start again and continue to 25. We get to set our own pace!!
@takinitalloff Thank you!! Lol I still remember our three member accountability group that I started two Yeats ago. We were so careful to get in our daily 10 minute walks!! And if I didn't feel like it, I saw you did yours and it was just 10 minutes.....that little group had me walking daily for 10, 15, 20 and finally 25 minutes. I remember our other member loved her walks and before long was regularly walking 20 minutes! This year I'm now seriously considering training for a 10km run. It's been YEARS. ☺️

I accept serving sizes without feeling limited. Tomorrow is another day to have more.8

I am 68 years old and my resting heart rate now goes as low as 55. My cardiac fitness as rated by fitbit is 32-36, which is well past excellent. I went from 28.4 when I started this latest go round of exercise, (Which was still excellent BTW) to 32-36. I think that is pretty darn good.7

I was just thinking about our walking group the other day, too! I wasn't ready for your training schedule at the time, but just so you know, you did inspire me to walk more. Lately I've been focusing on trails that have more elevation changes -- so far, so good! I have no doubt you will do your 10km run when the time is right3 -
