MY 100 POUND JOURNEY

This challenge is for those who need to lose 100+ lbs.
My name is Lisa. I’m 5’5” and weigh 300 lbs. My goal weight is 200 lbs (size 16). I’ll still be heavy, but I’m fine with that. I have no desire to be thin. I was always sick when I was thin (135). I’m much healthier with some meat on my bones (and fat smoothes out the wrinkles).
Are you up for the challenge? If so, please join me on MY 100 POUND JOURNEY. Tell us about yourself. What are your short-term and long-term goals? State your name, starting weight, and describe your weight-loss method (calorie counting, low-carb, vegan, keto, weight-watchers, etc.).
Post your weekly/monthly weight loss progress. Share weight loss tips, recipes, etc. Make friends, and get encouraged/motivated. Enjoy the journey! 🦋

I’m out of the 300’s now. I weighed 299.2 this morning. My weight loss plan is to exclude meat & dairy from my diet. I eat mostly whole food plant based, but I do cheat a little once in a while. Can’t resist Costco’s pumpkin pie during the holidays. My goal is to Lose about 10 lbs a month, and reach 200 by January 1, 2026. ⭐️1

You'll get to that life/work balance. You'll figure it out. 🥂

Yes. The disadvantage of starting a new 100 pound challenge every year is that I miss reading everyone's old posts and how they're doing. I can't remember everyone's history. I miss being able to see that.
Lisa, please refresh our memory about your history. Your current weight and goal weight and what's new with you. 🙏1 -

Congrats on getting back into the 200's Milestone! 🎉2 -
Okay, here goes the refresher course. Lol.
My name is Lisa, for those who don't know. I go by Lis as a nickname. I've had a weight problem and eating problem my whole life. My highest weight was 373lbs back in 2022. I didn't really get serious about losing weight until last April. Knowing I was turning 40 in 2025 and that it gets harder to lose weight as you age, I wanted to weigh less by the time I reached 40. Earlier this year I got out of the 300's, which was one of the short-term goals I had. My long-term goal is to get down to 225-220lbs. I would still be considered obese but I remember being that weight before and I looked overweight at most, not obese, and felt fine. My current weight is 281.4lbs. As of today, I have lost 91.6lbs. My next short-term goal is to get down to 270lbs.2 -

Still under 300. I weigh 298.2 today. 😀 Short term goal is 250. Long term goal is 200.3

I weighed 295.4 this morning. I've lost about 9 lbs since Friday. Losing weight too fast because I'm suffering with Cholecystitis (gallbladder infection). Went to the hospital for it in July. It's flaring up again. Must be more strict about what I eat. I give in too easily. Trying to hang on to my gallbladder as long as I can.

GO HIGH-CARB FOR ENERGY, WEIGHT-LOSS, AND HEALTH
High Carb Diet
A high carb diet is a dietary pattern that emphasizes foods rich in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are essential nutrients that provide energy to the body.
Foods High in Carbs:
- *Grains: Bread, pasta, rice, quinoa, oatmeal
- *Fruits: Bananas, apples, berries, sweet potatoes
- *Starchy vegetables: Potatoes, peas, lentils
*Sugary foods: Candy, soda, juice, pastries
Benefits of a High Carb Diet:
* Improved athletic performance: Carbs provide energy for exercise.
* Increased satiety: High-carb foods can make you feel full, which may help with weight management.
* Reduced risk of certain diseases: Some studies suggest that a high-carb diet may be protective against certain types of cancer and heart disease.1 -
The great potato myth.
Myth #1: potatoes are fattening. In fact, potatoes are delicious and nutritious! Potatoes are fat-free, cholesterol-free and a good source of Vitamin B6 and dietary fiber. They are also high in Potassium and Vitamin C.
Myth #2: Potatoes are just starch. These mighty tubers are much more than “starch”. A medium baked potato provides us with 620 mg of Potassium (that’s more than a banana) and 45% of your RDA of Vitamin C. How’s that for you “dieters”? If that’s not enough, they are gluten free. They also contain iron!
The French were on to something when they called potatoes, pomme de terre or “apple of the earth”. These wonderful gifts of the soil are a nutritional powerhouse when cooked properly and eaten as part of a balanced diet.
Now for the bad news—frying potatoes cancels out nearly all of the good. So, fries are for “sometimes” and baked potatoes are for “everyday”. Baked potatoes give you all of the aforementioned nutrients with the added bonus of filling you up, the satiety factor. If you eat your baked potato with low-fat sour cream you are eating a 155 calorie healthy side dish. Next time you tell the waitress to “skip the potato”, think again and do yourself a favor by ordering the potato!

I need more potassium! I need more vitamin C! I need more iron!

Maybe I'll have a big white potato 🥔 tomorrow 🤔.
