Lots of plans, Sara. Sounds good.

Just a quiet morning here. I overdid it yesterday and was in bed, elevating the leg pretty high, for the rest of the day.

thinking I need to weigh myself and really get back in the bandwagon. I’ll be 4 weeks out from surgery on 5/12. Hoping to see my anemia is improving before I start creating a deficit. Right now I’m just not worrying about it.

I’m walking about 1 mile on my long walk of the day, but something tells me I’m taking off today. I guess ‘cause I still feel tired right now though I’ve been up for over an hour. Could just be the “hangover” from pain meds I took last night. If that’s the case, walking will help. I think I’ll head out as usual and see how I feel after a bit. I’ll come home if I don’t feel better.

    Have a good day, all.

Lana - oh my! I hope you are getting it all cleaned up.

Sandy - Hair colour is great to hid certain other colours! 😂 I got my routes done yesterday.

I am determined to get a workout in today. There will be no running as the only time I have on Wednesday is at lunch and it's raining. I don't mind a rain run, only I like a hot shower after it, something I can't get at work!

I am 65 and I used to always be active whether it was out in a nightclub dancing all night or going to a gym, swimming, running.. not anymore I realized just a few days ago how inactive I am because literally all i do anymore aside from domestic chores is go to the casino and bingo. this has gained me 20lbs since last September. I used to love to dance so I decided I would start that up again only in my own house . I use spotify so i have dance music set up on there and use my earpods and dance away for a half hour if i can last that long.. today i did yardwork for a half hour. I wanted to go to the gym but it just didnt happen for various reasons so I found a way to burn calories anyway. If you have stairs go up and down the stairs as much as you can. Turn on youtube on the tv and find some exercises on there or aerobics . Even use a chair and do chair exercises . I am trying to be more active in any way possible. I now find myself having more energy because of it.

    Good morning all~~

    Just getting us started.

Hello MaryJay — lots of good advice there!

I cannot seem to stay asleep or get back to sleep — too much worrying about the future. So I'm up.

    Welcome, MaryJay. I miss dancing!

Lana, I'm sorry you are kept awake by worries. That's the worst.

I had another longish day up and about yesterday — in the afternoon, though—and really have to accept how exhausted I am by the simplest activities! I don't mind being stuck elevating my leg, but man, do I get tired of being in bed! I'm thinking about buying another ice machine so I can have one in the room where I sit.

I got weighed at doc's office yesterday and have lost about 5 lbs due to all that's been going on. So I might as well jump on the band wagon and start logging today.

I know I got bored at about 4 weeks after my right knee replacement and was so eager to go back to work. I cannot imagine that now, and my docs wouldn't let me, anyway. Thankfully I'm only reporting for a day or two in June—it sounds too difficult right now, but that's another 4 weeks away and I hope to have more strength by then.

Hoping all have a good day,

    Maureen

Maureen - There is a lady in my church that needs to have both of her knees replaced. She's hope it's really soon. One of her knees is down to bone on bone and the other nearly is.

I WILL do better today! I WILL make better food choices! I will NOT buy chocolate on the way home. I WILL run today. I WILL drink more water.

    Good Day!

Sara, mmmm....blueberry cake. I need to bake another butter cake.

Yesterday I got my bloodwork done...waiting on my A1c results. Also got my nails done again...a happy pink. It really is a nice mood booster to get my nails done. Made appointment for the dogs grooming but he has to wait a week.

Today I have some more straightening to do. I have been dealing with the seasonal ant invasion. It doesn't matter how clean things are, they still come looking. But I did hand wash the things in the sink that can't go in the dishwasher...a couple pans and some depression glass serving dishes...so that's done. Disinfected all the counter tops again...we'll see if that helps. And I finally remembered to bring in the case of TP from my car. I am on my last roll and it would be my luck that it would run out while on the throne.

Had an english muffin for breakfast...wasn't ambitious enough to make eggs. Lunch will be soup.

Hope it's a beautiful day where you are!

    Good evening

Lady with homemade frosted brownies found me at work. I needed a cigarette after that…

I'm still seeing gentleman for coffee and another one is in the works.

Salt is letting me know when I heave myself on the scale.

My fingernails are seriously overdue for a manicure…something to consider.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

Very happy with myself this morning. I could have gone out the door to get my earlier bus, and then gone out and bought a non-healthy lunch, but I didn't. I took the time to make my salad I had planned and got the later bus. It still got me to work on time.

I am also happy that I ate the cucumber before it went bad, same with the tomatoes. I usually buy them, never eat them, and just toss them when they go bad. Now just to find some good oranges the next time I go out. I usually get the best priced. The last ones came from Egypt. Odd since I didn't know they grew there. There weren't good.

    Good Fri-YAY!

Got my lab results....everything normal. A1c went down from 6.2 to 6.1! I know it doesn't sound like any big deal but to a diabetic, every little 10th of a point is good. I am still in the pre diabetic area and although diabetes never goes away, controlling it is everything. I hope to hit 6.0 next time.

Breaky was eggs and sausage....no carbs...and a small glass of milk to take my pills. I took a bagel out of the freezer for a snack and will have fish for dinner again. Need to get to the grocery store....running out of food.

Got my bedroom curtains switched out and the winter ones washed and put away. Also installed the bedroom a/c unit....and it's 20⁰ colder today...figures. But it's done.

    Things to do....till next time...

    Happy Mother's Day Everyone!

Lana, the day here was beautiful, but the rain is on its way.

My daughter took me out to lunch and I got a wonderful surf and turf meal. I know my weight will be up tomorrow, but that's ok...it was worth it.

Then we went to gift and antique shops and walked around. Didn't buy anything but just hanging out with my daughter is gift enough for me.

    Enjoy your evening!

    Good afternoon,

Afternoon tea was a great success. 99 degrees out but a/c running and cold drinks…7500 steps in 3 hours. Saw a new # on scale .

Cooler today which Is appreciated. Listening to papal conclave history in Middle Age. Crocheted while watching soccer,so giving wrists a rest.

Hope everyone is having a good Mother's day.

Sara - Yikes, sorry to hear about your gentleman having to retire someplace else. Good to know now and not last minute. Congratulations on your seeing a new number on the scale - that is great!

It is quite dreary here in NC. Storms came through last night, and they seem to be gone, but there's no sun predicted for a while. Dang.

Time to get dressed to go for a little walk. I'm taking a hat and an umbrella.

    Good Afternoon!

Sara, I had a similar thing happen recently. The SO told me he is planning to sell his house and leave NJ....says he can't afford to continue living here. So I have backed off some....just as well. But a new number for you is awesome!

Lana, thanks! And it's dreary here too. But the rain is still needed.

Had my Dr's appointment yesterday. Everything is good except he wants to to start taking vitamin D. I'd rather just drink milk, but the carbs in that make it an occasional drink.

Also have to see a dermatologist for a lesion on my hand. Called her office....they don't take Medicare! I never heard of that from any doctor I have ever been to. So I sent a message to the primary for another referral for a different dermatologist. We'll see what he says. But my appointment for DXA scan is set for Monday.

I was craving pizza yesterday so I broke down and got a small pie with extra cheese, sausage and mushrooms. It was delicious (we have a good pizza place next door to the complex) and I only ate half, so I have enough for another meal.

The ants have almost disappeared….only seeing stray investigating ones and they aren't finding anything. And I tried putting a baffle on my bird feeder pole, but the squirrel wasn't deterred a bit so as a last resort, I bought safflower seed....which they aren't crazy about.…and hot sauce for bird seed application. If that doesn't convince him to move on, I will be out of ideas.

I need to do something around here, even though I don't feel like it.

    TTFN...

Hi all. Lana, it was nice here for the first time this week, really. I didn't get out to stroll with my grandson for three days. Really wet. But the flooding elsewhere; oh my. A family member taught the boy who drowned after being swept away by flash floods in Albemarle County, VA. Having lost a number of students to guns and drugs and suicide, I know how devastating it is. And for the family—unimaginable. So I'm glad the rain seems to be past us.

My daughter and grandson will leave Sunday for their new home in Indiana. Her brothers will help with the move. I'll be on my own for 3 or 4 days, and I'm rather looking forward to it. The boys will leave again in the last week of May to help their dad move from TX to DC. Another chance to be on my own for a bit.

I'm not getting very far with the fitness plan I imagined for myself as I have the time now— can't do much, but could start doing more! And of course, not logging yet. Oh, well; I know I'll get back to it and usually can stick with it pretty well in summer.

    Take care all.

    Another Freaky Friday!

Lana, I see a loss there....good show, Mate! And the SO has not revealed his moving plan destination to me yet.

Maureen, I stopped logging awhile back. It wasn't helping me. But I know it is helpful for most people. I wish they would upgrade their system, though. Just use manufacturers numbers instead of letting members do it.....too many mistakes. I know there are other apps that do it.

Finally got an appointment with a dermatologist for next Tuesday. DXA scan on Monday. Endo appointment next Friday. Getting tired of doctors and testing...I need a break.

Working on straightening up my spare room....for the umpteenth time. I have a bunch of flower pots I need to decide about which ones I should get rid of. And filing to do....and shredding...and odds and ends that need a home. SO much. And the downstairs neighbors are back from their trip. I have to admit I was enjoying the quiet....and no barking dog every time they slammed their doors.

Yesterday was recycling day.…got all the boxes broken up and the plastic, cans, etc. out of here, so that was helpful.

Not sure what food will be today. But I am getting hungry. Till tomorrow...

    Good evening,

Friday - the I am so glad I scrapped and crawled to get here day.😴

Lana - he is going back to the Middle East. His family is there. He is Middle Eastern.

I am on strike. No step counter this weekend. We have a challenge at work starting Monday to increase our steps so I will get busy starting next week and add more steps finding things to donate to one yard sale (church) and sell at another.

Step mother is offering to give me her credit card id Info so I can visit my father more often. My taxi driver might be able to be my "uber/lyft" for this - we shall see.

Pizza craving will be settled tomorrow with 2 small frozen mini pizzas. Much better than other options.

Dance and play tonight at the Cabana club.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    It's Saturday - Yay!

Sara - Oh, my, the Middle East is a far-away place. Well, I trust you will enjoy your weekend —the pizza sounds yummy~

Sandy - Hang in there with the medical appointments. They do seem to clump all together sometimes. At least the bone scan will be quick and painless.

Yes, I am happy that the scale seems to be heading in the right direction. I am inspired by the better weather and have avoided bringing troublesome foods into the house. I retain water like a camel sometimes, and my weight can swing 5 pounds in 24 hours.

My doctor has been talking with me about starting me on Zepbound or Wegovy, if medicare will cover me. I am borderline diabetic, and all of my joints are hurting from old overweight age and the aromatase inhibitor. So just the thought of that has me eating a tad healthier 😜

Waves to Missy and Maureen and all who stop by later on. Enjoy the weekend!

Good Afternoon, All! Enjoying your weekend so far?

Lana, if you can get them covered, by all means try Wegovy or Zepbound. They are mostly covered by my Medicare, but I can't take them because of the side effects. That may not be an issue for you. When I was on Ozempic, I was losing weight but I couldn't handle the constipation and upset stomach. But for a lot of people, these either don't affect them or they are so mild, they can handle it.

The Sun is out for the moment, Still, it's like summer and humid......85⁰. But a cold front is moving in and rain along with it. That will cool things off. And, in the meantime here I sit watching cooking shows that are making cakes using a blender...supposed to be easier. 😁

I'll continue with my organizing today. Bagel was breakfast....sandwich for lunch...chicken for dinner.

I hope that cabana boy does tea with lemon.....that's my drink of choice. TTFN!

Sandy - sorry to hear that you had those two side effects.

In general I fend off constipation with three weapons: lentils/beans for fibre + snacks of fermented foods such as kimchi or dill pickles + yogurt with those helpful cultures. All that creates a happy camp for good gut creatures.

However, I have never had stomach problems. So sorry that that was your experience! Dang!

    Hugs~~
