When I stepped outside around 6 this morning, it was 81. Hard to believe! I had a lousy walk-only a mile. The cattle were too close to the fence, so I had to turn back—my Aussies might chase them and get themselves shot, so I can't risk it. The dogs came when I called—which is good—but the stand off between the dogs and one steer was not promising. I thought Jem, the Chickenhearted, would back off, but nope. And I know Skye wouldn't. Neither of them have any experience with Scottish Highland coos, with long horns, and I didn't want this to be a learning experience!

So a light day for exercise today and tomorrow. I'll do the King's Mountain Trail—only 1.5 miles but very steep. And it will be close on to mid-day, so very hot. Well shaded, and I will have water and take it ever so slowly. So one good workout between the two days; that's fine in this heat!

I'm trying to make myself do one more thing each day—yesterday it was the library. Today I have no plan yet; I'll think of something.

    Good morning ☀️

Maureen! Do you have a photo of doggies & cows? That must have been exciting! "Jem The Chickenhearted" 😜

I don't know what I'm doing today, but it will include water exercise in the pool.

I want something wonderful to eat today, but I don't really know what that means. Maybe I'll splurge and get some strawberries and some avocados. Maybe some fish?

Wishing everyone a good day today~~

Lana, I can't believe I didn't think to pull out my phone! I will, next time. Jem is very worthy of that title. He is ferocious in the house, and would probably be very aggressive with any other dog. But open an umbrella or let the baby gate drop? Hahaha, he shoots straight up like a cartoon character. I don't think he'd protect me if an attacker acted aggressive toward him (most dogs won't, although most people think they will), but he'd put on a good show until someone scared him.

I did the 1.5 mi loop at a nat'l military park—very steep for the first 0.5 mi and I had to stop 3 times. 95 F and no breeze, although mostly shady. Finishing was a victory in itself.

Scale has dropped a bit more since I've been back. Good to see I'm on track where I should be this week if I'm losing 1-2 lbs a week. I'd like to be "just" overweight and out of Obese 1 by the time I go back to work in August, and that should be doable if I stick with this.

    TTFN.

    Good evening

Lemon ice in the freezer. I will let you know how it is. Pretty easy recipe but not low fat or low sugar but on a hot day like we will be having, a little is as good as ice cream.

I keep my step counter on at night and sometimes when I need more steps to get my max daily ## it helps.

People at work are taking their cranky pills. Just shake my head.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Good morning ladies 🌸

Maureen, what you said about Jem is hilarious. Umbrellas, baby gates…. cartoon character! Good for you for getting out there and getting your exercise.

Sara - the lemon ice sounds perfect for a summer treat 😋

Time to re-jigger the Do List and pick something to take a stab at. 😣

Waving to Sandy and Missy and everyone who stops by later today~~

Sara, my watch is my step-counter, so every last one counts. I like that :) The Lemon Ice sounds wonderful. I wish I had had some yesterday after that heat. It reminded me of my walk in the forest at 95 degrees, last summer, before the first TKR. Could have used Lemon Ice then, too.

Lana, shaking up the to-do list is an awesome idea. My list is digital. I'm going to write on scrap paper and put it in a jar to shake. Maybe I'll actually do the one I pull out :) And I'm glad you enjoyed my description of Jem. He's a hoot.

I walked 2.6 in on what felt like a cool morning—75 and mostly shady. Pace was 22:30/mile. Not bad compared to yesterday's! What a difference.

I've weighed in at 207 the last couple of mornings, which is where I would be without the trip to Georgia, so I guess I didn't overdo it too much.

    Good Friday Afternoon!

Sorry I was AWOL for a couple days. I was dealing with heat and that was making me miserable. But today it's cloudy and cooler and I am glad for the break.

Maureen, nice walk! I know how accomplished that feels.

    Howdy, Lana! Hang in there!

I got out yesterday and picked up a Macy's order....a new bathing suit. I was nervous trying it on in the store, but it FIT! I looked at myself in the fitting room mirror and was thrilled! I stepped out of the fitting room stall to show the SO (nobody else was around) and he throughly approved. No more plus sized swimsuits for me!

Got to Wegman's too....got veggies and strawberries. And a container of their double chocolate Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies. I freeze them so I can eat them slowly and they won't go stale.

185.6...that is the first weight I recorded when I rejoined the group...I went back and checked. I started back on MFP at 190. Slow, but I am not complaining.

I hope everyone's weekend starts off well!

Sandy, well done. I haven't bought a bathing suit in years. I wear my quick dry stuff if I get in the water, which I don't do much anymore—usually if I'm hiking and we come to a waterfall, or a river/lake when I'm out with the dogs.

Sara, how are you doing with your allergies? You know I had such severe ones with really bad lung inflammation and everything smelled like boiled cabbage for months before I finally saw a specialist (and so many sinus infections). I had no idea that's what was going on. I hope you have a really full cure.

    Happy Friday,

Upper 90's for awhile makes my lemon ice a real treasure. I also purchased a pint of vanilla ice cream and added 1 teaspoon of coffee. Okay yes I know but when it gets that hot…controlling my junk food is key.

Sandra- wowie bathing suit victory!! Dont own one myself. You now have to break it in and add more swimming into your exercise routine.

Lana - hope you are doing well and are keeping on your new food plan.

Fiscal year end is in a couple of days….talk about twisting pressure…

Tomorrow get to see father, sister and step mother….Will update you.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Good morning ladies~~

Sandy - congratulations on your great progress and new swimsuit victory 🎉 How fabulous!!

Maureen - Yes, there are a lot of non-traditional swim clothes out there nowadays - quick dry tops and shorts 👍🏻

Sara - Yikes - fiscal year end plus a visit with family. Definitely let us know how things go. Take a couple of Cabana Boys with you! 🌴

I've been keeping with my simpler foods. Monday I'll get blood drawn, so next week I'll know if my numbers have improved.

    Hi there,

i saw the title Serial Starters and thought that definitely suited me! I'm looking for support as I start my weight loss journey again. I was successful in 2020 getting down to my desired weight but it has crept up gradually and Im feeling tight in my clothes and unhappy with my shape. I am 60 years old British born but live in France. I have always worked out regularly and walk every day with my dogs. I have had some hormonal and mild thyroid problems this year which definitely don't help! Im actually not sure where to start this time around so any suggestions would be welcome 😊 Im not really into weighing myself, I know Ive put on weight and Ill know when Ive lost it. Thank you for reading this and I look forward to getting to know you! Sarah-Jane

@LONDONPARISNY2023 Welcome, Sarah-Jane. I also got down to a healthier weight in 2020 and regained 2/3rds back. I started logging again in late May and am having success right now. I'm taking a weight loss drug—not a GLP-1, though—and I think it is curbing my appetite.

I was exhausted today by the time I finished my walk. Slower time, same temperature and time of day as yesterday, so I don't know why I felt more tired. Still, it is reassuring to be able to get out and do it regularly. I want to start adding a daily outing in the afternoons or evenings. Maybe I'll just look at free events in the area and pick one.

I ran out of protein powder and need to order some. I think it makes a difference in how hungry I get, although I'm not sure. But I am trying to build some muscle as I lose and don't want to lose lean muscle. I have to pick it up from my local store—even though I can have my other groceries delivered, I can't have this item delivered, which seems very odd!

    Have a great day, folks.

    Maureen

    Good Afternoon!

The Phillies found their bats last night and spanked Atlanta, 11 - ZIP!

    Hey...where are the new serial starters? Don't be one and done! @Stef212025 , @Lyztelk , @AutumnDraidean , @angf0679 .....we miss you!

@LONDONPARISNY2023 , WELCOME! Great to meet you! This is my second serious attempt to get my weight down. I was successful the first time and I seem to be having success this time, too. As for me, I had to stop eating anything I wanted, anytime I wanted and as much as I wanted. I eat a lot more salads now as well as protein. I still allow myself the sweets on occasion, but in small amounts. I keep them in the freezer so they are out of sight and would have to thaw to eat them. And I only eat out once every couple weeks or so.

Sara, Maureen and Lana, thanks! And I do plan on getting as much use out of the suit as possible!

The day started out not so good.…ANTS!! I have had it! I put in a maintenance request but it won't be seen till Monday, of course. I tried to take care of it myself, but I am not properly equipped. It's so frustrating! I don't have a dirty apartment or water sitting out....I even moved my plants. I am constantly getting the feeling there is an ant crawling on me when there isn't....I hate that!

The lower temps have helped with my mental state. I am using the central air today, which is enough to cool off the apartment.

Got my nails done yesterday. Ocean Teal, which looks more like Robin's egg blue, but its very appropriate for the summer.

    Have a peaceful day, everyone!

    Sandy
