Mean women at the gym

Thanks for all the replies! I ignored her, but the steps are right next to a weight circuit i do so I was on her tail the whole time around the circuit. it made me feel good that every time i sat down on a machine after her I saw she was at least 10lbs+ under what I can lift. WHO'S THE P*SSY NOW!
Next time get in front of her. Or mention to someone (so she can hear) that you don't go for speed, you go for strength. I am much slower on the elliptical at the gym than most the other gals, but I have it cranked up really high resistance.0 -
"wow, i would really like to call you out on what you just said, but i don't fight against ugly people because they've got nothing to lose..."
and that's what i would have said silently to myself0 -
Rephrased: Q. How do you deal with stupid people?
A. Ignore them. Stupidity is its own reward.0 -
I'm not sure where to post this so. Yesterday at the gym these two girls were working out on the aerobic steps. one girl says to another while explaining a step "you can do it this way, or you can do it the p*ssy way like that" and then points at me. It took everything in my body not to walk over and deck her. How do I handle a situation like that?
I vote for walking over her and decking her.0 -
I think I would have laughed and ignored it. Not worth dignifying teh stoopid.0
-
Next time you go to that gym, take along a beautifully wrapped gift box containing some Midol and a anger management therapist business card.0
-
You should cry.0
-
I would just have said "I can hear you, you know." and walked off. I think there are better comebacks, but that's what would have come to me in the spur of the moment. Sometimes people just need their rudeness pointing out to them.
Exactly. Maybe she said it because she didn't think you'd say anything back. Nothing like calling someone out.
That really burns me. I mean what if you were working out at a reduced level because you had an injury, or for some other valid reason? I have bad knee that is permanently damaged, and that limits me sometimes. I would hate to have someone say something snarky like that to me. Your body is your body, and you should be able to work out how you want without others judging you for it.0 -
I'd ask if she is a lesbian.0
-
I'd rather be a pus*y than a stupid cu*t.
Fill in the *
Seriously, what is wrong with people? I am sorry that you had to deal with that.0 -
Why stoop to her level? It wouldn't make you any better than she is. Glad you took the high road.0
-
 Could not said it any better ,why waste your breathe or time on her.:ohwell:0
-
That's pretty ridiculous. I'm glad I've never had to deal with an idiot like that. I'd probably laugh at them, tell them they are pathetic and continue on my work out.0
-
"But doing it that way (point to the other girl) obviously makes you a raging b*tch."
That response is FUNNY. If you could be that quick witted, and say it with a laugh - perfect.
Maybe even better that you stayed on her tail the whole time without knowing what you were thinking. Good job on the workout!
The unknown causes the most fear. You're wicked in a cool way. :drinker:0 -
You should cry.
OMG, that would be really hilarious to start BALLING REALLY LOUD!0 -
I would smile, wave, and keep on going. It is impossible to fight with someone who is ignorant, which she has already proven to be!!!
THIS. When you genuinely laugh it off, she looks like a b*tch and you look like a queen. Bullies tend not to bully people who refuse to be cowed. But fighting a girl bully directly doesn't always get you what you want.0 -
oh my gosh! what a b#%^! I think you did the right thing. If you cussed her off that could have turned into an uncomfortable situation. Use that negativeity to fuel your workouts!0
-
"But doing it that way (point to the other girl) obviously makes you a raging b*tch."
LMAO!!! THAT"S WHAT I WOULD SAY.... If I was quick witted enough lol0 -
I like this option!0
-
i dont know what you should do... but i probably would have been walked out in handcuffs....0
-
i wuda gave her the middle finger and smiled..and just kept doin my workout..what a stupid bit**0
-
Where on earth do you live? Honestly, I can't imagine someone saying anything like that, and I've been around.
Either she is a sociopath, or you misheard her.0 -
I'm sorry but my first reaction after reading your post was to tell you to punch her in the face, but then I thought about it and said 'what would that solve'? When you're at the gym you've got to keep your focus on YOU! Block out all of the nonsense and the negative comments because that will not help you with your goals. If you take your iPod with you, turn it on, maintain focus and remember why you're there. It's a shame that people behave like that but you have to block out the negativity. Tell that tramp to mind her bizness! (sorry that was negative wasnt it?) Lol0

I have been a member at my gym for over 9 months and in that time virtually NO ONE has spoken to me including staff. I guess I'm not one of the "cool" people. I've never been a gym attendee, so it was very intimidating to go and workout amoungst "experienced folk".
What I've discovered in my observations is that "people watching" is a wonderful spectator sport. You can really learn alot and see the cliques form right before your very eyes. People like that are drama mongers. Take the high road because it sounds like your character is far above theirs.
Wrestle with a pig and you both end up dirty. No one is better off.0 -
Sticks and stones. The best thing to do is be the better person and ignore her. Causing a confrontation in the middle of the gym will probably get you in trouble, and it might not make you feel very good about yourself after you get home. People like that need to belittle other people in order to make themselves feel better, and they aren't worth your time and frustration. Good luck with your workouts, and I hope you stick with it.0
-
Just know that you aren't a rude person and people will have more respect for you not being a total *****0

Though I don't have an answer for you I'm sending you hugs!:flowerforyou:0 -
I'm sorry this happened. Someone needs a high five in the face with a heavy chair. They're being jerkfaces. Next time its best to kill things will a smile. Or be a bit goofy. It actually off puts and shakes people up a bit more than just being mean back. You're better than that.0
-
Sometimes, just letting yourself have a good cry is all it takes to feel better.0
-
Living well is the best revenge. Let it go, that's an unhappy and insecure person and you are better than sinking to her level. If it happens again, just laugh, which will have more of an effect than anything you can say.
Isn't there a major marketing anthem, "just do it"? It doesn't say what or how to "just do it".0
