I've hated cottage cheese since I was a kid, but have recently begun to eat it, and LOVE it, like this: half a cup of CC, half a cup of blueberries, partial packet of stevia in the raw. You never would've been able to convince me of it's merits in the past, but this has become one of my all time favorite snacks. I keep these 3 items in stock at all times now. A little bit of granola thrown in every once in a while is a nice treat, too.

When I was in college, all of my friends used to make fun of me for eating cottage cheese with salt and pepper! They thought it was really weird. It's nice to know that I'm not really as unusual as they thought.
  • I grew up eating it with paprika or pineapple. I like it and eat it frequently. Fish on the other hand...bleh. I suppose it is an acquired taste or texture.
  • I like to eat it two ways:

    - as a "dip" (in hearty, hefty amounts) on crackers (i.e. I'm using a cracker instead of a spoon) because I like the texture contrast between the cracker and the cottage cheese

    - on baked potatoes (in place of fat-rich butter & sour cream)

Cottage cheese might be a bit of an acquired taste. My teenage/preteen kids hate it.

I am totally buying some cottage cheese tonight after reading this post.
  • Salt and pepper and chopped chives or green onion. I like it savoury - not with fruit etc.
Also you can blend it up, add a bit of onion soup mix and use it as a veggie dip. Way better for you than sour cream or mayo-based dips.

I like the 2% large curd. My favorite add in is leftover grilled pineapple. Since that does not happen often, pepper is my next favorite. I also use it for lasagna because I am not fond of ricotta.

I grew up eating it from the middle of half a cantaloupe. I love it that way!

Last night I had 1/2 a cup over some sliced strawberries with just a little honey.
It was the best treat ever!

I use to hate cottage cheese to, now I crave it all the time.

I have recently started eating it as a snack or at breakfast, because it is very filling! I like it on a piece of toast, or over 1 scrambled egg white and 1 scrambled egg. It's pretty good!

Mmm! I like it plain or on toast! I've never tried it with fruit, but the thought almost makes me feel sick...maybe someday I'll get the guts to try it!

I make a dip/sauce for fish tacos or mexican-y chicken:

    1 avocado
    1 c cottage cheese
    1 c fresh cilantro
    a couple cloves garlic
    pinch salt
    pinch sugar
a bit of the water that comes off the top of greek plain yogurt
    lemon juice

blend it all up and it makes a great cilantro/avocado dip or sauce for mexican food.

I love Fat Free cottage cheese. I eat it plain, with cantalope (spelling?) If I want it sweet. With tomatoes or salsa for a little salty. So yummy!!!

I don't think I've ever had "salty" flavored cottage cheese. In my opinion it doesn't have too much of a flavor to it, and the people who don't like it tend to not like it because of the texture (understandable).

Anyway, I eat both 1% and 4% plain, in protein shakes, or in lasagna.

Yum! It's on of my favs!! I love canned peaches and cottage cheese. I love it with salt and pepper and crackers. A friend of mine eats it on her tacos. I haven't ventured that far. But I do use in place of ricotta for lasagna, I just blend it with and egg and herbs and parm cheese. HUGE money saver. I do also enjoy cottage cheese, mandarin oranges and a packet of low fat whatever flavored jello you like. That is heaven!! There is also a cherry one that my mom used to make. It's fab!

I do the mandarin oranges/jello...love it!
