What is "too skinny" (pics)

Number 6 is the only one that concerns me, but she's only "too skinny" if she's starving herself to get to that point and it's not her natural shape. I also wonder at her age. If she's a teenager, she looks sort of normal for having a body not yet fully developed.
Otherwise, I think 1-5 all look very lovely.0 -
I think 1 is probably over weight. To me she doesn't look healthy. I am sure her body fat % is in the overweight range though
Was waiting for someone to go there. And I agree.
Glad Im not the only one who thought so. Comments like "glowing health" "healthy, perfect" Im sure she is not in the healthy range
I agree.
I'm more of #1's body type, and she is overweight. She carries it extremely well though and is quite proportional, unlike me. I do think she's very pretty also. I'm the same size as her around, but I have chicken legs and a little rounder belly.
She is not defined at all.
I'm hoping to look more like #5 but more muscular when I'm done.0 -

Exactly, she's got no muscle definition whatsoever. I like how one woman said she'd like to look like 1, but with more definition. 1 is most likely not "healthy."0 -
1 & 2 look good... once 3 comes in its starting to look too skinny. It's okay to be that skinny if you do it the healthy way, but, after #2 they look sickly.0

Lol it's funny you say this, I do agree that #1 looks over weight. I am like the OP I am told all the time I need to quit losing weight, while I just hit the healthy target for my height, I still look about like the girl in #1. I agree it's not my idea of where I'd like to be and think she's on the verge of overweight if she isn't already.0 -
#1 may be on the heavy side but she is also what most of the females in the world look like and #6 is just plain anorexic.
"In the world"???? I think that's probably not true. Maybe in the Western world.
She is not my ideal body type and she probably is overweight. But if she's happy in her own skin, my opinion doesn't matter.0 -
I use to look like #1 at my starting point. I am aiming for the 2nd one, but I wont be as small up top. I won't lose that much of my girls!0

This, unfortunately, here in the Western world it has become okay to be overweight, which is not the case. And should not be dismissed as "It's what most the females look like."0 -
6 looks too thin to me... BUT, look at the way the photo is staged. Her pose, the camera angle, expression, the lighting, lack of color, all contribute to a frail look. Give her the photographer, lighting, and photoshop of the model in photo number two, and she'd look like photo number two.0

All but the first one look too skinny to me, but that's just me. :flowerforyou:0

they're all hot0

I find it interesting that many women posting on this thread immediately compare themselves to these photos. I don't think the OP had that in mind, because as many of you state as well, we are all built differently and the "right" weight and the "right" figure don't come in a "one size fits all" package.
Nevertheless, fascinatinig to read the comments. This sort of thing kind of gets into people's heads when it really shouldn't.0 -
I cant see the pic,0

This is true, I simply picked these because they are probably close-ish to my age (I'm 20) and have a similiar straight up and down shape to them (again similar to myself)
I find it interesting that people automatically compare themselves.. Yet some others slate us all for judging :noway:0 -
4 and 6 could use a cheeseburger. 1 looks great, but could lose a few pounds. 2 and 5 look pretty much perfect.0

I think there's a huge stigma on anyone who is trying to lose weight or be more fit. Someone is always going to be there to tell you not to. Seeing someone go from being very heavy to not heavy can be a shock and others may not know how to process it. What's important is that you're eating enough (at least 1200) calories and so long as you aren't pushing your body to be what it's not.
When I tell people I want to lose 150lbs they freak out and tell me all I need to lose is like 30 or 40, either they are trying to be nice, or they're delusional, no one knows your body better than you do. Keep up the good work.0 -

I think it's natural for most women to compare themselves to others. Especially when you are losing weight and have goals. It's nice to see a picture of someone fit, and say "that is what I want to look like".0 -
1,2,and 5 are perfect. one being on the bigger side of perfect and 5 on the low end 2 is perfection she is toned and has enough fat not to be too cut. The others are too skinny IMO.0

In my opinion, the first two are STUNNING!!! Really, gorgeous!
The last 4 i think are too skinny, but that's just my personal opinion...0 -
I would love to have a body that looks like 1 or 2.0

Numbers 4, 5, 6 are too skinny, not healthy looking at all!0

Here is a whole range of healthy bodies.

Has no one pointed out that #4 looks like a 10 year old or that #5 has a freakishly small ribcage for a human?0
-
#3 and #4 are what I intend on looking like. Not because they are super stick skinny but because that is my body shape. #2 and #5 would be awesome but I don't have the boobs.0
-
I think # 5 and 6 are too skinny and #2 is the ideal perfect body but 1 doesn't look bad she is average0

Agreed! It is possibly just a woman thing, but I think it's pretty normal. I really like to find people who have similar body shapes to mine to get an idea of what will look good on me so I can set my goal and go for it.0 -
I will just say that I consider ribs and hipbones jutting out to be an indication of someone being underweight, aka too thin.
I have seen naturally very thin people, but they don't tend to have ribs and hipbones jutting out like number 6. Not in my experience anyway. I would say 'too skinny' is when someone is forcing their body below it's healthy weight to a point it is endangering their health.0 -

1, 2, & 3 are okay. Though, I personally want to be somewhere around 2.
4, 5, & 6 seem to be a little too thin in my opinion. Especially, 6.
But some people are naturally framed small and so these shapes might be acceptable for them. I'm a larger framed person so at those sizes I would appear almost skeletal. I'll be super happy when I get to 1!0
