    Hi Jessica,
Thanks for answering my question. I too felt that with exercise I should not eat 1600 calories. I'm only 4'10" so that would be too many calories.

    Thanks Again,

I hear you! I am 5'5, but it still just seemed like too many calories. I really think each person just has to find out what works for them. So far for me, it works best to stay between 1200-1300. Thanks again Gina for starting this group! It is really helping me.

    God bless,

    Hey girls,

I had a successful milestone today, which I just had to share cuz my colleagues and some other friends wouldnt understand.

I was invited to lunch today, which is always my downfall. I'm a cheeseburger, potatos and pasta kinda gal. When I was asked where I wanted to go I purposely chose a restaurant chain that I could find the meals and their caloric content for. I avoided Chili's cuz I love their burgers and fajita pitas. I chose Applebees and picked two meals before going that I knew I could guiltlessly eat, they also have WW meals. So I ended up having the California Turkey Club. I saved half the sandwich for dinner since I have late meetings and never have time to grab something.

This website has finally been the tool for me to reach my goals. I hope you are all having a successful week as well.

    Pamela,

I am glad to hear you are making good choices too.

We don't eat out often by choice. My family would rather eat "Mommy" food. My son loves to be in the kitchen so it is either me or him that cooks.

Today I made a spaghetti squash southwestern casserole. It wasn't a keeper but, hey, if you don't try new things you'll never know.

Son is in the kitchen right now cleaning it up for me. Of course there is a motive....he is going to have dinner with his friends tonight & he wants me to make cottage cheese rolls for him to take. I can't share the recipe here because they are full of butter but oh so so good! At least he is taking them away so I won't be tempted.

I hope everyone keeps making good choices!

Hey, Janet: Just read your post great job on the lost pounds!

The family and I don't eat out much, but I do because of work. I love to cook though and am always trying something new. I understand the cottage cheese roll dilemma. I made smores brownies for my family last weekend and only pinched off a small corner to try and told them the rest was theirs. It certainly does take will power to cook those things and not eat them.

I lost .5 lb this week. Not a lot, but it's a loss!!! I am now 151.5. I have lost 10.5 lbs since 9-23! I have also been able to reach a big goal of mine. I can now jog for a 1/2 mile at a time. I used to not be able to do it at all. I hope you all have a great week and congrats to all the "LOSERS!!!" BTW, I did great fitting in more veggies this past week. This week my goal is to jog at least 1/2 mile each workout (I power walk 3 miles most days.)

    Have a blessed week,

    Jessica

I was thinking about this group as I was going to bed last night. We're already more than half way through October! Soon, we'll be through the holidays and everyone else will be starting their New Year's Resolution weight loss. We'll be so ahead in our weight loss journeys and feeling great. I'm just so happy and proud to be part of a group who is taking action now and not using this time as a big excuse to gain weight. I think a lot of people will be wowing over all of our hard work during the upcoming holidays.

Well, if we weighed in on Fridays I could have reported a weight loss. Unfortunately, I didn't work out all weekend and spent the weekend cooking and baking for the family. I ate in moderation but gained that lb back. Oh well, still happy to be at 137.

Hope everyone has a successful and pleasant week.

this weeks goals: get more fruits and veggies packed with fiber.

    any suggestions?

Great job on the three pounds!!! Here is some information about the highest fiber fruits and veggies. It's from a thyroid website that I love. http://thyroid.about.com. Hope you are having a good start to the week.

    Highest Fiber Vegetables
    Avocado
    Beans
    Broccoli*
    Brussels sprouts*
    Cabbage*
    Carrot
    Chick Peas/Garbanzo Beans
    Eggplant
Greens -- collards, kale, turnip greens*
    Lima beans
    Mushrooms
    Potato with skin
    Pumpkin, canned
Peas -- black-eyed peas, green peas
    Peppers
    Rhubarb
    Spinach*
    Sweet Potatoes*
These high-fiber vegetables are also goitrogenic, meaning that they promote thyroid enlargement and can potentially cause or aggravate hypothyroidism. Typically, the risk is highest when these foods are consumed raw, regularly, and in substantial quantity. Cooking eliminates most goitrogenic properties.

    Highest Fiber Fruits
    Apples
    Avocado
    Bananas
Berries -- Blueberies, Blackberries, Raspberries, etc.
Dried Fruits -- Figs, Raisins, Apricots, Dates, etc.
    Guava
    Kiwi
    Orange
    Pears
    Prunes

    Other High Fiber Foods
Bran Cereals, 5-10 grams - All-Bran, Bran Buds, 100% Bran, Raisin Bran
    Bread, whole grain
    Beans, Lentils, Lima Beans
Nuts -- Almonds, Brazil nuts, Peanuts, Walnuts, Cashews

Hope this helps give you some ideas!

I know I reported Saturday, but I reached my Halloween goal yesterday! My weigh-in for this week is 249.4 which is down 2.8 from last Monday.
My crazy travel time at work will be over at the end of this week so I will be able to weigh-in on Mondays from now on. :drinker:
