What is the c25k i have seen several things about it...do you like run/walk in place? Is it like a dvd or do you go do it outside or on a treadmill?

It's a program that gets you from the couch (no exercise/running) to running 5K (3 miles) in 10 weeks.
It's interval training outside or on a treadmill. The schedule is 3x/week (with a day of rest in between) and each week gets more intense. I'm on my 3rd day of week 1 and it's a 5 minute warm up walk, and then alternating 60 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes, and then I add a 5 minute cool down walk to make it a 30 minute workout. I couldn't do it at first so I started 2 weeks ago by running 1 minute (or 45 seconds) and walking 2 minutes until I could actually do the first workout of C25K.

LOL I had no idea kidding about sex as calories actually counted and would start such funny postings!

Wow, we are all doing really well! I've included my ticker but I think I am mixed up on the amt. lost. I have lost 16 pounds, but not all on here. Well, I guess it's right, because I did actually weigh 16 lbs. more when I first weighed in. (well, actually 20 from the flu - I don't know! I'm mixed up! I'm taking the 16 and running with it! LOL  )

jlb - the clothes, girl, the clothes! I hear ya on the "can't afford to buy" part. I know you have to feel wonderful wearing those smaller clothes!!! :flowerforyou:
snowflakes - thanks for the tips - they are good ones.
momma - on track, woohoo!!! :drinker:
lildeb - the willpower with the cookie! Amazing! Bottle that willpower and sell some to me! :flowerforyou:
awestfall - 5am workout? Wha??? I can't possibly imagine getting up that early! You go, girl!
dawn - hope you feel better! Do keep eating, though. I stopped when I was sick and then had a HUGE gain. :grumble:
aries - you SHOULD feel good! Enjoy!
lstpaul - sounds like SOMEONE had a FABULOUS get-away! LOL

I had an OK day. Mashed potatoes and gravy got the best of me, BUT I only had ONE helping!
Cals: a little high but OK
    Water: great
exercise: a little dancing for the MJ show with the students
proud: I stopped at one helping of mashed potatoes and gravy!

Calories: I still have about 650 to eat, but if all goes as planned & logged, I'll be at 1254
Exercise: 35 minutes on stationary bike, Couch25K week1 day3 + I added 10 minutes of walking to the end -- burned 1073 today
    Water: I'm at about 120oz.
Proud: I finished week 1 of Couch25k! My guess is that I'm going to have to try for 2 weeks to complete week 2, but I'm going to go for it full force Thursday. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with running. It's so hard for me right now. I still can't believe the "love" part is there at all! But I feel so *awesome* after a run (well, after the dizzy and nauseous part! ).

My almost 3 yr old came home with a fever today so means no day care for her tomorrow. I will see how she is in the morning if i can work from home or if i need to take a sick day..if she just sleeps all day i can work, if she doesn't and is up then i will have to take a sick day

    Good morning everyone.

I was to much surprise this morning got on the scale and it was 293.7, only like .5 to my thanksgiving goal. I am not recording it or anything but was very surprised.

I am not working today, my almost 3 yr old is sick. I had to get from day care with a temp, she is coughing real bad , i can tell she isn't feeling good she won't eat her favorite breakfast ( poptarts) she wanted them got them out but won't even touch them.

I am not sure if i want to take her to the doctor, it may just be a virus but if it is something worse i don't want to have to go to a urgent care clinc over the holiday costs tons more , it will cost like 10 to go to the doctor but will cost like 100 at the urgent care.

Take her to the doctor!!! My daughter had most of the same symptoms and she had the flu.

awestfall -- SO glad to see you're back at it!! That's awesome!

lildebbie -- I agree with awestfall, I'd probably go ahead and take her to the doctor today. I bet tomorrow the doctor will be a lot busier since they'll be closed the next day. And what a hassle to have to deal with the day before Thanksgiving!

    Ladies,
I'm guardedly hopeful that my New Year's goal is actually doable now. I was thinking I would probably just aim for my original goal of 230, but this morning I was down to 238.2. Well, I think it's actually possible for me to lose 13.2 pounds in 5 weeks 2 days so I'm going for it! I hope I continue to do well this week. It's so encouraging to see the scale drop consistently and feel my physical performance improve so much each week.

I'm wearing pants I've never worn before.

I am taking her, she has an appt at 10. Might not be anything but a cold, but rather be safe than sorry....hoping it is not the flu...She did have flu shot but i know that doesn't mean 100% she won't get it.

I bet when she gets back from the doctor she will probably take a nap...trying to think what I want to do while she is napping...HOuse is a mess i could do that, may work out on my elliptical ...i need to do something besides watch tv all day.

Jib - Way to go!!! You can do it. I had put my goal of 285 by 12/25 8.7 lbs from today which i think i could so..how ironic it would be to loose 25 (that would be 285 for me) by 12/25

I was playing with my ticker putting my weight in for today so i could just see it say 16lbs, then put it back to my weight from friday and it won't go back...guess it wants to me show 16lb loss.
  • I did something today I have not done in oh at least 6 years.......I ran 1 mile without stopping to walk!!!!!! It wasn't fast running but I did it!!!!!!!! I just had to share with you guys!!!!!!!!!!

    Wow aries, that is great.

lildeb, good idea on taking the little one to the dr.

jlb123, Congrats girl you are going strong.

awestfall, always nice to see you!!! Remember not to kick your butt too hard.

Okay, I did something I have not done in years. I have an old exercise bike (I think I told you about it) It has elliptical type bars that move with the pedels so you get the same type of work out as the elliptical. I decided I would do intervals where I rode normally then where I pushed myself to the limits. I actually worked up a sweat. Since I do Not sweat very much at all, I found that very encouraging. I had my heart rate up and I was breathing where I could still talk but NOT sing. I feel really good. Burned over 500 calories in 30 minute time frame. Had an egg white and some toast for breakfast. I am feeling pretty good today.

I am back from the doctors, just a cold...so at least it isn't anything . Dr says i can give her some childrens motrin and gave me some samples of cough medicine if I wanted to give it to her. Lungs are fine, ears are fine.

She is about to go down from a nap...dang she is making me tired

I did good , we were out had to go to walmart and past several fast food places, though we could just go get lunch here but then thought that would be a bad idea and passed it up

Yeah , she went right down for nap, hopefully she will sleep some this afternoon ...

I am thinking maybe after she wakes up that i will take her in the stroller for a walk, can't even tell you the last time I did that. Maybe hubby will join us when he gets home from work.

OK so yesterday got away from me, and boy did it go down-hill fast. A few glasses of wine to "help me" clean the kitchen and bathroom, I probably should have just handed the glass a sponge and said "have at it kid". Then for dinner I was determined to be good and that somehow lead to 7 pieces of turkey bacon I snacked on while I made my delicious healthy home-made pizza. Then after dinner, 2 candy bars calling to me from the top of the refrigerator in the Halloween bucket, a handful of malted milk balls I had stashed in the fridge, and then the Kellogg's Corn Flakes rooster jumped out of the cabinet and attacked me while I was sitting on the couch. Not like 1 cup of cereal, oh no, like 2. So I went to my food diary and tracked what I could remember that I ate, and I was over 2300+ calories EEEEEEEEKKKKKK. :noway: So far today, I'm tracking better, but I need to cleans myself with lots of water.

I've been reading your posts and I have to say that I'm inspired by your work out challenge posts. I'm going to head off to do my Pilates DVD right now, I haven't even taken the plastic wrapping off of them yet and I've had them for 2 years.

So.. I have a question for your ladies. I am trying to determine WHY I am not as hungry on the days I work out harder. It seems like if I have an off day or just don't put the effort in.. I am totally hungry all day... Whats up with that? But, if I put in a good workout, after the workout I am not as hungry and in most cases it lasts pretty much all day. Just does not make a whole lot of sense to me.

Stephanie, I can relate. I spent the whole weekend eating like that.

dawnannw, I am the wrong person to answer your question. I am off and on with the hunger thing. sometimes when I exercise I am NOT hungry other days when I exercise I fear for my children if they get too close:laugh:  They may get eaten:laugh: I am glad you are feeling better though.

awestfall, great job on your energy. Wow, share it with me.

I am going to go exercise because I went a bit over on my lunch. I still have plenty of calories for dinner, but I am eating all my exercise cals. So I thought I would exercise so I have some banked for Thanksgiving.

I can answer that!!!I find that exercise actually suppresses my appetite. There's scientific reasons for it as well. When you exercise alot the body will shut down all unnecessary systems in order to divert all energy to your muscles. your digestion is considered unnecessary.

A few hours after a strenuous workout your appetite will return with a vengeance. At the very latest by the next morning. Its because your pumping up your metabolism when you workout therefore your body is burning the fat that is on your body.Hence not so hungry because its like your feeding your body energy.I know it doesn't make sense but I have studied it and thats why you lose weight because when you workout your less prone to eat.Now with that said,it won't always be this way so be careful. You are going to have to trick your body some.So what I do is I drink a protein shake after my workout which in return helps burn more calories.I don't do this everytime I workout just sometimes to help my body burn the most fat possible.Do try making your breakfast the biggest meal of the day and your dinner the smallest.I hope this helps.

OK so I managed to get through the 10 minutes of basics on the pilates dvd. I probably would have done more if my dogs didn't try to make out with me the whole time I was on the floor!

ok.. so that makes a little more sense now.. thanks for the fyi.. I am eating backwards.. :ohwell: I guess for me I just feel like if I eat all my calories towards the beginning of the day I will be hungry with none left in the evening and that is my WORST time. :grumble: That is when I want to munch normally. Any suggestions for getting switched around. So, far things are working well for me but, I am sure at some point I am going to plateau and need to make some changes. Thanks for your wisdom

Had our work Thanksgiving lunch today. I ate way less than last year, but I still did eat 2 small spoonfuls of pasta with rich, buttery, creamy alfredo sauce & 2 cannelloni. *sigh* :frown: My other choices were not bad - at least that's what I thought. I logged it into my calorie counter and it read something huge like 800 cals. :grumble: Sucks. That's almost half my days' cals!

So, I'm starving right now and I have about 300 cals left for the day. Guess I'm eating lettuce and veggies tonight.

    cals: over
    water: under
    exercise: 20 mins. stationary bike
proud: that I passed up cake at the luncheon

    oh my oh my

Today didn't plan out had i planned it out this morning. We ended up not going for a walk due to my 3 yr old screaming for an hour. Then hubby came home, we ended up going to target.

He wanted to go out but i said lets go home, we had all ready what we were going to make (burgers with 8% meat, they are yummyand aren't too bad on cals) our propane went out. We ended up ordering pizza, i did order good, this time no overload on meat. I got grilled chicken on one and ham on the other (instead of the greasy peppornoi and sausage we usally get). Then they screwed up our order and gave us someone else, and gave us cheese and pinnapple so i was thinking even better.

I would of done good if i didn't eat 6 pieces and 3 breadsticks, oh what was i thinking, well more like 5 1/2 cause i gave some crust to my dog.

Then i felt really bad and i got my but on the elliptical and I did something I never ever has done.....I was on there for 35 minutes....The most i have ever done . The closest i got before was 30 minutes....

So today is bitter sweet...ate very poorly (well good till dinner) but then busted my but on the elliptical more than i have.

I am sure i will still be over on my cals, but at least i neutralized some.
