Twinge
Hi! 202 lbs with joint issues ( lupus) ...very unfit as have had lupus flare up.... Tried day 1 with static and moving stretches...loads of them, but felt a twinge in my hip area. Stopped immediately and have not returned to it. Any advice. Built up to it, over 2 weeks with walking 20 to 40 minutes, increasing speed and in…

Looking for virtual running support buddies
Hi there! I'm getting ready to start week 7 and could use some motivation. It would be lovely if I could follow some others on here who are also working on C25K. If you'd like to share the adventure please send me a friend request.

Hi, I'm new to this group
What if any activity trackers do you use? right now I'm using an up24 but I am considering changing and I am currently trying to figure out what my options are. Why did i join this group/want to be able to run a 5K? A couple of years ago I had to go through learning to walk again after a serious health issue. I was on a…

Trail Etiquette
I had an odd experience on the trail today, and I'm wondering how others would have handled this . . . I do most of my running on sidewalks that parallel roads. I've done a couple runs in parks. There is a trail a few miles away that I have been wanting to run on for a while, and this evening I decided to do it. I've…

When life gets in the way...
I need a little advice. I'm due to do w3d2 tomorrow, I do my runs every 2nd day. Until now I've been on vacation and it hasn't been an issue but tomorrow I go back to work, start at 5am, work 12 mentally exhausting hours (I'm a police dispatcher) and when I get home I'm often so tired I can barely walk the dog let alone…

I'm doing it...but I feel like a turtle :(
I completed W5D3 last night. I was able to do so without stopping at all so I am super proud of that...HOWEVER my speed is quite slow. As I read through other threads and I am seeing the speeds/times of other people I am feeling more and more like a turtle in a hares race! I am 5'3" so I don't have the longest of legs or…

Geese attack
Came across some geese on the trail the other day. Mentioned to a friend how one of them hissed at me as I ran by which scared the crap outta me. She sent me the following 2 links: http://www.buzzfeed.com/sarahaspler/the-most-traumatizing-stories-of-canada-geese-attacks…

Sharp twinge
Okay, this is strange; I've had it happen twice now . . . And I'm sorry for the length of the post, but I'm trying to get all the pertinant details in, and answer any questions up front. I've been running for several months. I started C25K back in January, and finished it in March. Since then I've been doing 3-4 5ks a…

what do you do on days you dont run?
I'm trying to find something active to do on the days I'm not running/jogging. I currently walk and do Pilates. I'm not a gym person, and don't have the confidence to use our facilities for strength training (maybe in the future). I was using some videos for circuit training, but thought that might have contributed to my…

The power of C25k
To give you something to aim for and to show the power of this programme and subsequent ones. This time last year I could not run, I started C25k on 15 June 2014. I started it with all the same trepidations that you guys/girls have. I feared W3D5, the 20 min run. I struggled with my ego and going to fast (10 minute miles).…

New member to C25k
Hi Everyone, Its really nice to be a part of this team because I really need help and a couch to prepare me for my first 5k in August. I hope to learn a lot and be a great team sport....lol! Have a lovely day:)

Mental hurdles?
Anyone else? I'm nearly finished...I'm on week 7. A few weeks ago I "ran" a 5K. It was a very humbling 42 minutes. My problem now is I'm downright scared to keep running. I've been nursing a knee injury which truth be told might not be as bad as it seems. I have another 5K coming up on July 24th and a 10K in September. I…

What speed on a treadmill?
I did d1w1 on Friday. Today I'll be doing d2w1. My question is what speed, if you are on a treadmill, are most of you guys doing? I was doing 3.4 to 3.7 for walking and 6.2 to 6.4 for running. I almost died and I was in so much pain Friday night and most of Saturday. I'm VERY out of shape lol

Running with arthritis
I just started the c25k and started having knee trouble. Found out I have arthritis in my knee. Does anyone run with arthritis in knee? Is this a bad decision?

Running belt?
Hi guys, Not sure if this topic has popped up before but I couldn't find it when I searched for it Does anyone use a running belt when they run? I've been safety pinning my apt key to the inside of my bra and holding my cell phone in my hand but I think it's time to invest in something. I've tried arm bands in the past and…

Week one done, with some struggles
This is my 2nd go round with c25k. I made it to the 20 minute run last time but couldn't run longer than 10 minutes so I gave up. That was 2 years ago and I've regretted it since. I really want to get this done! I just finished w1d3 and I struggled to get through it but didn't stop. Day 2 was a breeze and tonight I felt…

Newbie Runner
I haven't started running yet, I've been working my way up to it. I've been walking a lot more so that I can ease myself into it. Thursday 6 miles/Friday 10.7 miles/Saturday 6.1 miles/Today 13.3 miles. I want to eventually be able to run comfortably for an extended period. I'm looking for advice on what I should be doing…

Running and Nutrition
I have a question about running and nutrition. I try to start every morning with protein. On days that I run I usually have a protein shake and a breakfast sandwich. I've going through the c25k program and am starting a 10k program this week. Whenever I run, I always go 3 miles total distance. Only the first part of it is…

w1d1
So, this morning I completed my w1d1! I don't think I've ever run (other than towards, or away from something!), but I figured that, at 45, it was about time I gave it a try. My fitness level isn't too bad after quitting smoking about 6 years ago, and taking up cycling, but I quite like the idea of attempting a 10k next…

keep going?
So I did a 5k Saturday & was able to run (slowly) the whole thing. I'm on w5d1 should i just keep following the app? Or just try to run 3miles on my run days?

Where do you usually run?

c25k by distance...please share your experiences
This time I decided to do the program by distance. I started at week 3 because I was already doing interval runs. So far its been the best choice for me. I mostly run on the treadmill. My pace is 12 min/mile which means I'm running slightly longer than the time version. I'm starting week 5 today and trying not to get…

How does it know?
I have C25K synced to MFP & it logs my exercise into my diary when I'm done. It says I ran an 11 minute mile, which I don't think is true. How does it know how fast I go? Does the app use gps or is it an estimate? It seems like it's saying I'm going faster than I am.

Not great at running but slowly improving :)
I have never been very good at running but i have lost a lot of weight and a lot of my friends on here keep on saying that i should start running. So I have started the couch to 5k challenge and i am currently on week two.. Do you do it at your own pace, or go back a week because the app seems to speed up quite quickly in…

What was your AHA! moment?
After starting and stopping the c25k program several times, I'm finally in week 7, and about to graduate next week. When I first started, I would have sworn I could never run for as long as I do now. However, for the last three weeks, I've known I could do it. Since day 1 of week 4, I've had no fear when it comes to…

W4D1 - how did you do?
I'm a bit worried about starting week 4. Suddenly there's more running than walking, and while I can do 3 minutes running with 2 minutes resting (messed up a bit today after the actual workout ended) I'm not sure I'll manage 3 minutes with 90 seconds break - or running 5 full minutes :o So how did you do when you started…

What counts as a rest day?
Ok, so I know I'm not supposed to run two days in a row, but the thing is, I have dance classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, and martial arts classes on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. At the moment, I'm running on Monday and Friday, and squeezing in another run on one of the other days, which means I'm not actually resting…

Need to walk before I can run.How will I know?
I have wanted to begin running for years.I live in the Orlando area and Walt Disney World has these Princess 5k runs.People dress up like a princess(some of them) and they run Disney World.I know I am not going to be able to do that any time soon, but how will I know I am ready.I am going to be 45 this year and although I…

Variation of C25K Program
I have my first 5k scheduled this Saturday & have only made it to week 4 of C25K. At first I really struggled with it, so I decided to approach it a little differently. Yesterday I wanted to push myself so I sort of made up a variation of week 4 but added some extra to try to get more prepared! Prior to this I never made…

I completed C25K this morning!
This morning I did my W9D3. C25K done, and it's a strange feeling. OK, it's done... now what? I think I'll keep running and try to go for half marathon distance. I'm a 189 cm (6'2") tall guy, slightly overweight - but I lost a lot of weight by running (and eating less, and also a bit of lifting), and MFP has been…
