Only lifting now
I'm trying to reduce my body fat percentage so I'm currently focusing on lifting. Loving it! Should I feel guilty that I stopped doing cardio? I feel like I'm doing something wrong and I'll ultimately end up gaining back my weight. Please advise!

Hi, just joined this group today!
I posted to my wall, but didn't get any responses. Just joined this group and thought I'd give it a go here...FYI, I usually lift M/W evenings and run T/TH/Sun, but this is not set in stone. I also do workout videos in the morning. Thinking of changing up my lifting...adding/learning front squats, maybe more abs(but f.s.…

Trying to join the Navy!
Hello! My goal is to join the US Navy in 6 months time. I would really just like to find myself a solid support group to help me reach my goals. I've already lost 20 pounds and counting. I'm also trying to strengthen my body to make it through boot camp. At the moment I still can't do a single pull up but hopefully that…

Calorie cycling
So I know the basic principle of calorie cycling is to eat more on days you do more, ie eating more on lifting days. I'm finding though that on my actual lifting days I'm not that hungry, but that 24 hours later I'm ravenous (unfortunately this usually falls on a rest day). To me, this kind of makes sense... my muscles…

NROLFW vs 5x5
Hey all, I have the book of new rules and in the past I've seen pretty good results from this routine. Any thoughts as to which program would be 'better' or does it really matter? I've lifted for a little while but have been off for about 6 months. How do you recommend finding a good starting weight? Thanks!

newbie that needs help and guidance
Hi there I just joined the group today. I am just finding my way back to the gym after a knee injury. I was out for over 10 months. Before that I went to the gym 5 to 6 days a week for like 2 years. But even then I was nt visually seeing the results that I wanted to see, but I felt great. My goal here is to learn the best…

What happens to your body if you don't rest after lifting heavy?
48 hours seem like a long time to wait. I like the split idea because I need to do something everyday, even if it's active recovery. But 48 hours hits me right in my motivation. I though if I knew the why's of it I could understand enough to accept why I need to take a break, instead of just doing it anyway and finding out…

3 months in a cast. Losing my gains. :(
Hello, ladies. I broke my wrist back in September and have been in a short arm cast ever since. I can manage most day-to-day responsibilities, but I cannot hold on to a barbell or dumbbell with that hand. I also cannot eat at a deficit as my body needs the calories to heal (the first 6 weeks I kept cutting and it barely…

Dealing with butt wink
My back squat form really tanked when I hit about 150lbs. I deloaded and deloaded and am at 130 and still it seems my form won't fix. It's like a two-step process when I come up. Butt first, then straighten back/lift chest. I must be leaning too far forward. I'd take a form video but my gym is super anti-video. Any…

Eating to support muscle
Over the past few months I've been trying to eat a bit more, particularly on training days, to help support muscle growth and boost my metabolism. I am finding though that on days where I eat healthy foods (especially high fibre foods), I get full much quicker and often have a couple of hundred calories left at the end of…

Maintain or gain muscle, while burning fat?
Just about 8 weeks postpartum. For a couple of years and throughout my entire pregnancy, i lifted weights and did a couple sessions a week of hiit. I would either lose all the fat that i felt i needed, then go on a "bulk" to gain muscle or I would just bulk. I still have a good amount of muscle so I'm wondering what you…

DOMS - can I still work out again?
Hey everyone, I'm new to all this. On Wednesday I started a new strength routine and every single muscle group is sore. I skipped Thursday and today it is a little better (maybe 70% back to normal when Thursday was 40%). It's just general aches, no stabbing pain or injury. Can I do the same routine today on Friday or will…

Body Compostition on Keto
Just received notice that there will be a new competition as part of the employee health program where I work. (Composition Competition. Improper Forms...
Hi! Recently, I stopped working with a personal trainer and began a new program. I have to problem doing what's already been taught, but when I tried something new I have to remind myself not to be frustrated when I learn the proper form. Sometimes, I know how an exercise theoretically should be done. However, I can't…

Hello
Hi...been lurking. I used to do some lifting in my younger days then switched to mostly cardio then switched to mostly nothing. In the past few years cardio workouts have been on and off. Inactive at work but fairly active on weekends. I teach and compete doing dog agility. My knee had issues in July and in August, it was…

How do you not eat EVERYTHING?!?
I've been lifting on and off for a little over two years now and it does crazy stuff to my appetite! The one thing I've found is that I simply do not have the willpower to cut when I'm lifting. I will burn maybe 200 calories in a session, but my body wants 500 to make up for it. Then something will happen and I will have…

Anyone following the Body for Life program?
Would love to hear from any of you ladies following the BFL program. I have done it for a couple months twice before, and just started a new "challenge" with one of my girlfriends this Monday. We are loving it so far! It is one of the only programs that has really worked for me before.

Needing accurate strength training calorie trackers
My report shows only 300 calories for a session I had with a trainer in which I was going all out. I'm a personal trainer myself, and when we work each other out, its no joke. Anyone have success finding good tracking system for calories burned during a strength training sess? (kettlebell swing/press; ab work; negative…

Developing Carpal Tunnel -Now What?
I'm developing Carpal Tunnel in my left wrist, I'm actively treating it and hoping it's not permanent but I know I won't be able to perform many of the exercises from the SL 5×5 program I'm doing. I can do squats, might be able to do dead lifts due to the nature of the lift (not sure though ). Anyone have any ideas for…

Which weight training programme to follow - help?!
Hi all, Firstly apologies for the essay.... I've been "weight training" for about 18 months....I use the quotation marks as what I mean is: 1) Started off with random iso based workouts given to me by the OH....followed for a while and gave up 2) Started SL 5x5...followed for a while and gave up 3) Got a programme from a…

weight loss has stopped since starting weight lifting
So I was losing at a consistent slow pace until I started weight lifting 2 weeks ago. I've had no loss since starting. Is this normal? Any tips or suggestions? I really need to drop more pounds before a work required physical that I have scheduled. Wondering if I should take a break from weights for a bit and then get back…

Trying to create NROLW Workouts in Jefit and it's driving me crazy!
I got the Jefit app because it was recommended as the best for creating and logging weight workouts. But I'm trying to program in the NROLW workouts and it's driving me crazy! I think I might not understand it (it is not intuitive!) and be doing it wrong but it seems like I have to create every single workout I plan to do…

Hello! I'm hoping for some help for ideas on what to do. I currently have tendinitis in my left wrist and most movements hurt. A little question on squats
I just love squats and have been doing the strong lifts programme again for about 3 weeks. I have been standing with my legs wide and then going down at a normal pace then coming up slowly but not sure how effective it is. So I just want to ask what is the most effective way to squat? All responses will be much appreciated.
