Hi guys, it's been a while so I will simply review the year as "not disciplined", with a few pounds gained. More precisely, maybe 3 months with good tracking and the rest without. I did quite a bit of travel for pleasure -- catching up with old friends over food is one of my weaknesses. And I also have a distinct pattern…

I've been pretty disciplined this month. Down 5 lbs

It's been 2 months of a lot of traveling (very enjoyable) and poor discipline. I have been snacking a lot and I am up a total of 5 lbs. First time over 210.

No. I happened to be given a bunch (seriously at least 2 pounds) of mediocre candy this weekend. I threw it all in the garbage.

My results do follow what I expect from my plan (or my lack of following it). I'm back on plan (aim for an average of 30 PointsPlus per day), won't think about results until next week.

I don't use the app. On my desktop I click on my saved link to GOAD, which takes me to the MFP login. I do the password thing, then click on my link to GOAD again, which at least avoids extra navigation. Once the Firefox browser knows I have done the login, I'm good even if I close the tab (not window), but something about…

No I would not, unless diabetes were an issue. I already have somewhat slow gastric emptying, so I would be very reluctant to take medicines that increase this issue. I also wonder what changes take place in the hormonal system after extended use. But having recognized how much my overeating is due to that voice in my…

I'm up 2 lbs over the past month or so. It has been a very non-program-conforming few weeks. I was getting back to the gym in early January, feeling more fit and down a couple of pounds. But then I slipped and fell on some ice, twisting my knee and putting a pretty good gash in my hand. So no exercise and a good deal of…

Over the holidays plus a couple trips, I have gained back the weight I lost during the year (about 10 lbs). I did the same thing last year, so this is a pattern that I need to fight. I'm convinced there is something about the dreariness of the days getting shorter in the PNW that makes me want to stimulate myself with…

A little late to the question. It was a pretty typical Thanksgiving with friends, with many of the traditional dishes. I did not go crazy, but neither was I watching points. I did eat a whole apple pie during the preceding week, which was really not in my best interest.

I love pickles. Pretty much all kinds. I can think of some varieties that I am not quite as fond of, but really they're all good. (I'm talking about vegetables and fruits -- herring or pig's feet, nuh-uh. Pickled eggs aren't too exciting either.) My current favorite is Bubbie's kosher dill. Because it is fermented and no…

Highly variable as to specific source, but I'd say I eat about 6 oz of some high protein food per day. Anything from a 3 egg omelette, to fried fish, chicken salad, etc. I rarely buy plain meat to cook other than chicken thighs (if fact, I think I have never cooked a steak). Frozen shrimp is always in the freezer. Fresh…

Al, that is a mind-boggling amount of liquid if it is daily -- it would mean at least 20 trips to the bathroom per day for me. I do 3-4 cans of Diet Coke, maybe a couple glasses of water daily. Up to 4 wine or cocktail in a week.

I simply don't understand why eggnog doesn't make this list, with all that protein.

Up 1 for the month. Very much want that to be the last of that trend. Track!!
-
Get back to the gym (I've got my stent in successfully, so no more excuses) Cut drinking by 1/3 (down to 4 drinks or less per week, I've actually been doing this for a couple weeks already, but the need for vigilance is eternal) Keep tracking

They still occur, that's for sure. I consider a binge to be eating too much (at least three times the normal amount) of a given treat for several days. I am very fortunate in that my binges are relatively moderate and of short duration. My most recent was at the beginning of the month when I had a big bag of Cheetos and a…

Easy-to-make means either a cold salad or reheating some leftovers. Here's one I do that gives leftovers: 1 can diced tomatoes (I prefer to use versions with flavor, such as fire-roasted, garlic, or green pepper) 1 can corn kernels, drained 1 can beans, drained and rinsed (my favorite is actually lentil soup) Put 'em all…

Some holdover attitude from the supply issues of the past few years -- I just substitute or do without. Though I have been known to drive hundreds of miles to pick up some non-food items I really wanted, so I'd never say never to doing something similar for a food. (I've been thinking about lime pickle a lot recently . . .)

Another month passes with no change. I suppose it's better than one of the alternatives. I know that I am eating a tad too much due to stress about my health (angina), and I am getting less exercise than usual due to that heart issue, too. Some doctor appointments in the coming two weeks should help me better understand…

I tend to regularly go 16 hrs without eating. But this is not really due to an intent to do intermittent fasting. I don't have much of an appetite in the morning, some days my first meal is at 2pm. (Although some mornings I wake up starving, in which case I eat a small portion of something satisfying.) And because I have…

Up 1 over the past month -- no surprise. But considering I have a good 20 lbs still to lose, complacency is not appropriate. A few less indulgences and a few more salads needed.
-
Because vacations are often a week or more, and I don't act especially abstemious on those occasions, it would be at least a week. History shows that it can sometimes be more than a year.

I try to eat from a selection of relatively standard dishes when I eat out. (I eat out so frequently that I have about two dozen familiar meals.) This way I am guessing about fewer things than I might need to otherwise. In most cases, I will have previously eaten half of one of these meals and taken the other half home to…

My "mug" is a can of Diet Coke. What it says about me is that I am an addict. I do drink ice water out of a mug later in the day. I use the same boring black one (often just rinsing it out several times rather that actually washing). If and when it breaks, I will just move onto another in the completely non-matching…

Down 1. Somewhat of a surprise, since I consumed a bottle of wine this week and wasn't tracking super vigilantly. But I'll take it as a sign that my habits are in the good range.

Pretty much the same as above. Because I have a background adjacent to the biomedical field, I consider myself able to inform myself pretty much as well as a typical GP would be. For something related to a specialty such as endocrine, neurology, whatever, I would want to consult with them if I still have concerns. FYI,…
