  • As far back as I can remember, I have loved to eat. I never learned portion control and always ate to the point of being stuffed. Unfortunately, I tend to eat as a result of my emotions, stress, and boredom. I'm coming to realize that the reason I have always handled stress well is because I've treated it as an excuse to…

  • As was commented in the original post in this thread, the underlying reasons as to why a person is oveweight/obese need to be addressed. I firmly believe that the body is a finely tuned machine, capable of self regulation in most circumstances. As with any machine, if you throw a wrench into the gears, something is going…
  • Back in my senior year of high school, I weighed 230 lbs when I decided to go out for cross country. I knew that I was never going to match the times that any of my teammates were getting. I did set a personal goal to beat my own times every race and I met that goal. You may not match or beat others' times in the short…
  • I'd take anything between 15% and 35%.
  • The sultry tones of Starcraft 2.
  • Congratulations. Getting your life back on track.

  • I specifically asked my wife to buy me only one Easter treat for me this year: the traditional box of peeps. That should keep me on target.
  • I'd never even considered this. I'm going to try it since I love pasta, but can't believe the calories included in a "normal" serving size of spaghetti noodles.
  • I do 2 slices of toast (Country Oven 12-grain) and 3 large hard boiled eggs. For me, that is actually a decent breakfast (~400 kcals) for me but you could adjust that to your caloric intake levels. Bread and eggs together don't really have hardly any sugar in them and the carbohydrates in the bread will give you good…
  • Who doesn't love candy and snacks!? I'm not a big supporter of the "diet" thing. I like to think that changing your life in subtle little ways is going to be easier and more effective if you stick to it in the long run. Choose one area in your life where you're ready to make a change, and then commit to that change. Once…
  • In english, I don't really have an accent. In Spanish though, I have a very pronounced Argentine accent due to some time I spent there a few years ago.
  • Not only this, but the stereotypical american diet has been subtly changing over the years; so much that many people do not know how drastic a change has occurred. Knowing that most of our habits will be determined by our social and physiological development before the age of 5, we can understand that if our parents make…
  • I don't have anything against men crying at movies and what not, but I hardly every cry. A movie has to establish a deep connection between a character and myself and then put that character through all sorts of punishment (emotional or physical) that I can relate to before I cry. Maybe i'm just hardened or perhaps I am…
  • Where are all the computer scientists? :(
  • Well, I think I should be ashamed that I don't know this answer for sure, but i'm gonna try and save my butt by saying "Maybe i'm amazed" by Jem.
  • maybe her heart is just lazy :)
  • I like to wear a t-shirt during. I know that my body doesn't gross my wife out, but I feel unattractive myself. Your spouse may love you for you, but that doesn't mean you should smother them in rolls of fat. Just a thought.
  • I'm right there with you, except for the entirety of last week. I'm pretty pumped to get back on track this week and post a loss. Good luck to both of us, we can do it.
  • Yeah, me too. Mine is called diet Mountain Dew :)
  • That's been this entire week for me. I'll be lucky if I get through this week without gaining anything. Here's to a better week for the both of us :)
  • I really hate when my wife uses any of these, but then again I am apt to use some of them myself so I guess I can't complain too much. I would much rather just talk about the issue rather than introduce more drama into the situation. Sometimes I just don't have the energy to talk about an issue that's bothering me, so I…
  • "F", I only got a middle initial :(
  • I think that the reason that people gain weight after getting married aren't as obvious as we all care to think. I'll throw my guesses out there though. Once you get married, people tend to relax a lot more and not care about looking their best for their spouse. We also know that sex releases a lot of endorphins that…
  • That's the mid-step in between sitting and using the treadmill :) Hey, some peeps gotta work up to it.
  • If you can't pick your nose while driving, when can you pick your nose? ;)
  • Absolute worst thing is actually in my freezer. It's a Tony's frozen pizza that's been sitting there for a couple of months because I don't want to pay for it (calorically speaking). Since I started dieting, I've eaten probably 2 pizzas total (4-5 months), compared to my 1+ per week :( The best and healthiest things that I…
  • I work out for an hour twice a week is all. I keep myself on a 2000 calorie diet and I personally find that by not eating back my calories, I end up losing weight. I might be different than a lot of other people though because I only maintain about a 500 kcal deficit as opposed to some who opt for a larger deficit.
  • I was actually thinking of this a little while ago after watching an episode of "How I met your mother". All the girls that Barney would sleep with would get so mad at him for ditching them after the one night stand, but at the same time I was thinking "well what do you expect from a man that will sleep with you on the…
