  • Great work and well said! And I agree, enjoy the process more than anything. For me, I need to eat before I do anything. Some people don't need to. You know your body best. I'll be doing my first half marathon next June, so believe me...You can do anything if you just try. :)
  • I made teriyaki quinoa tonight for dinner. I got the recipe from 'alive' magazine's site (they have great recipes btw). Basically cook the quinoa with water, garlic. Once it's done, add soy sauce, ginger, honey, lemon juice, sesame oil. You can top it off with sesame seeds, green onions, etc. It's a great recipe with…
  • As long as people believe it and the demand is there, it will continue to exist, unfortunately. Rest assured though, in a few months, there will be a new fad diet trend that will trump HCG. :)
  • I don't track sugar. I love fruits and eat a good 2-3 servings everyday. It's not hard to differentiate if you read the ingredients.
  • I have the vega shake and go smoothie. I have it after a workout or sometimes, as a snack when I'm craving the sweet stuff.
  • I do 40/30/30 as well. I find it's a better balance for me.
  • Thanks, porterbaby! I agree. Would love to keep this thread and group going. It's been very motivating. I've been super busy these last few weeks so haven't been posting much!
  • Great news. Just curious, did you ever resolve the whole grocery ordeal with your mother? (Not that I think you're a troll or anything.... )
  • Funny, I did not like the taste of Genuine Health! :-)
  • I use the smoothie infusion with frozen berries, milk/soymilk, yogurt. I find it's a little on the gritty side. You can get their protein shakes in individual packs to try versus spending money on a huge container at first. I got sample packs of their powders to try before buying, so you should check with your health food…
  • You can do it! Just keep your head up. It takes time and you will be amazed at what you CAN do. :) 9 months ago I couldn't even do a block without going out of breath. Last month I did my first 10k without stopping and I'm doing a 5k at the end of June. If you can, get a workout buddy or even a trainer. That extra…
  • Try adding some weights while doing them.
  • That is awesome!! Congrats! I did my first 10k last month and it was the best feeling in the world. I'm doing a 5k at the end of this month just for the fun of it. Once you start, you really can't stop  .
  • "Luck is where preparation meets opportunity" :) And with this, I believe in 'luck' as it's a result of our own actions.
  • Welcome! Good luck and there's tons of support here so you've come to the right place. :)
  • I'm meeting a friend for sushi. So no cooking for me tonight.
  • I think once in awhile is fine. I only buy them when they're on sale :) and have them for days when I don't feel like cooking.

  • I totally agree with you! I haven't bought any new workout clothes yet. I sorta like wearing my sweatpants and seeing how big they are now.
  • After 20lbs lost I rewarded myself with a new outfit. I planned a one week holiday for the week after running my first 10k. I'm halfway to my 'goal' weight and my reward is a trip to Hawaii! So that's a huge motivation, although, I am taking my time as I'm more focused on being strong and healthy.
  • Some people forget that they actually have to put in 'work' to see results. I find it's like the culture of entitlement. They may think that they 'deserve' to be healthy, etc. etc. and yes, they do, but you get what you put in! No excuses!
  • That is awesome!!! Keep up the good work.
  • Hey Ladies! Hope everyone is doing great! I did great on this challenge until last night. I'm just going to post my weigh in because it's just become a habit and keeps me motivated! LW: 153 CW: 155 Those 5 pounds won't seem to go away :(
  • I just got back from a camping trip and nothing tastes and smells as good as bacon cooking on a cast iron skillet! Especially after a long day of hiking. I probably won't have bacon for awhile now lol!
  • And summer is fast approaching so it's a great time! :)
  • I think I forgot to weigh in last week. Been super busy! Hope everyone is doing good.
  • Stick to easy one pot meals like chilli, soups, etc. and you'll save tons. Also, keep it simple, whole grains, fruits, veggies, protein, dairy and you won't break your budget.
  • Heh, what I meant with my pace was that I tend to slow down when I get tired and didn't slow down once for this run. So that felt great! I would like to improve my 'speed' though, so that's my next goal! Right now I'm averaging 11-12 mins miles and I'd like improve that for shorter distances. Mind you, I just started doing…
  • For my mid morning snack I usually have yogurt and fruit. I don't like any of the 'trend' yogurts (i.e. activia, etc.) so I just take some frozen fruit like europe's best 4 berry medley and layer it with plain non fat yogurt (I love the balkan style ones) in a little container and let the fruit thaw with the yogurt for a…
  • Take a look at your diet. If you're fairly active, then you should be nourishing your body with proper nutrition. It makes a huge difference.
  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I see where you're coming from. When I first started getting serious about fitness, I got myself a personal trainer. I didn't want to rely on my boyfriend for support, although he was adamant that he help me out. I needed the support for motivation, and I couldn't be happier. I'll be doing…
