  • I also have the Polar FT4 and I love it. I completely used one up and had to replace after about 2 years, but it was well worth it. Very easy to use and it monitors your heart rate, calories etc.
  • I am planning to log over the holidays. I will still try to stay within my goals, but not stress overmuch if I go over. Have a wonderful Holiday Season!
  • Absolutely a victory!! Woot Woot for you!!!
  • I love the morning workouts. A friend and I have been doing this for a couple of years now (meeting at the gym at 5:00) and we both love it. It is hard to get up and motivated but it makes the day so much easier and leaves my evenings free. We are so used to getting up to work out now that we even meet early on Saturdays…

  • yes, this is true, at least with my Polar FT4 it is. I just dampen the sensors on the strap then put it on and attach the battery powered sensor (whatever its called) to it and then forget it until my workout is finished. I love my polar HRM.
  • I use a Polar Heart Rate Monitor to track my calories burned. I found that MFP and the machines were not very accurate for me. MFP is just a guide, the machines are probably a little more accurate if you put in your height, weight, etc. but to be most accurate, a HRM (with chest strap) would be the best way to track…
  • Gym membership definitely for me. If I try to exercise at home, life gets in the way and too easy to make excuses. I am paying to go to the gym and I go faithfully 6 days a week (rare occasions only 5). It is much easier for me to stay dedicated when I am paying and there are lots of different things to do at the gym.
  • Hit exercise bike for 8 miles and then did 2 miles on treadmill at 15 incline. Cardio day for me of course. Tomorrow will be cardio with strength training. Happy Monday everyone.
  • I am an obsessive weigher. I weigh several times a day. Don't get upset/discouraged or too excited about fluctuations, just like to keep on top of the weight thing and see how what I eat the day before/during the day effects my weight.
  • I also have the Polar FT4 and its the best money I ever spent. Chest strap is not an issue, once I put mine on, I don't even realize it's there. Chest strap is much more accurate as I have compared the gyms at the machine, HRM without chest strap, etc. and I found I was overestimating calories until I had a chest strap HRM.
  • I have been on MFP for over 300 consecutive days. I am obsessed I guess, but it is working for me. I plan for MFP to be my lifestyle as long as it is available as it works. I am almost into maintenance, but I know I will always have to log to hold myself accountable (it's all about me). I love MFP and the friends I have…
  • Still have 5 - 8 pounds I want to lose, but two weeks ago I changed my goal to .5 lb week and am starting to see a small decline in weight (I had been fluctuating with 1 to 2 lbs before I changed my goal). I do eat almost all exercise calories, so I am now eating about 2000 calories a day (that is including exercise).
  • I think I will continue to log. I am almost into maintenance now, and I am still addicted to recording and monitoring everything I eat. As long as MFP is around, I will be too. This is a lifestyle change for me and MFP has become part of my lifestyle.
  • At the gym at 5:00 M-F and around 8 on Saturdays since that is when they open. Gets me going for the day and know exactly what kind of breakfast, lunch, dinner I can have with my calories (I do eat most of my exercise calories). If I don't get my workout in in the morning, it's wayyyy to easy to find excuses not to do it.
  • Congratulations! That is awesome!! I understand the feeling. This year, I have finally gotten below my husband's weight too (after 16+ years of marriage). Way to go to you!!! Keep it up!
  • Have been going to a gym since the first of July. I go six days a week and I love it. I did Curves 5 to 6 days a week prior to joining the gym, but had really gotten burned out on it. If you are paying for a membership you tend to use it more than you would use anything at home. Whichever you decide, best of luck on your…
  • If you are close to maintenance weight and healthier, it will be harder to get your heart rate up and keep it up - or at least that is my experience. If you haven't washed your strap, that will help as well (wash in machine in laundry bag with no fabric softener and then just lay out to dry). Mine was acting up a little…
  • Congratulations!!! What an awesome feeling. Keep up the great work!!
  • I would return the one you have and buy a Polar with a chest strap or any other kind with a chest strap, which monitors your heart rate continuously. I have been using mine for about 6 months and I absolutely love it.
  • I use a HRM for any type of exercise I do. If it's already in the database, I input calories burned from HRM, if it's not already in the database I add as an exercise for me. I have personalized all of my exercises now and always use HRM as I found MFP and machines at gym, etc. aren't very accurate. Also, if you do invest…
  • I was a member of Curves for 5 or 6 years and just recently switched to a gym (July 6). I have been going 6 days a week since joining and I love it. Gives a lot of options (elliptical, bike, treadmill, stairclimber, machines and free weights), plus offers classes included with membership. I definitely needed to add some…
  • Congratulations!!! Awesome job!! Keep it up!!!
  • Congratulations - what a big step in the right direction!! Keep up the good work and best of luck to you!!!

  • I am so sorry you are going through this. I have been on this site for about 180 days and I love the support and friendships. As for the time spent, I feel I have much more time because I have more energy and just feel better. I exercise 60 - 90 minutes a day at least 6 days a week and although I am still about 15 lbs.…
  • I am definitely going to stay - even though I am still about 10-15 lbs. from goal, this is now my lifestyle and I will be here as long as this site is here. Love all my MFP friends and everyone that posts. Best of luck everyone!!
  • WOOHOOO for you!!!! Glad you are feeling more upbeat!!! Don't ever give up! You can and will reach your goals, just always believe in yourself!!
  • Absolutely awesome job!!! You are doing great and such an inspiration. Keep it up and enjoy a long and HEALTHY life. Congratulations on your huge success so far!!!
  • WOOHOO!! Doing the happy dance for you. That is awesome. Congratulations.
  • Don't be discouraged. The weight will come off if you are following your calories goals and exercising. Slow and steady is the best way. Feel free to add me if you want encouragement and/or support. Sounds like you are doing the right things, so just stick with it.
